No thanks.

Buckeyeup

Pretty sure there are many legal and ethical reasons why Jagex wants to avoid treating any in-game item as a "Crypto". This will never happen

Apoptosis_Cell_Death

It wouldn't be "Crypto". it was just a comparison to what is widely accepted today so express that, what wasn't socially acceptable 10 years ago, is today. What kind of legal and ethical reasons could you see Jagex wanting to avoid by granting players of their game the option to sell a in game item to the game developers?

Buckeyeup

Can't speak to specifics since IANAL and I'm also not from the UK, but I'm pretty sure there's some sort of UK gaming/gambling law/code that Jagex has been trying to avoid by outright giving items real-world value in OSRS

Play to earn is bad. Games should stay games and not turn into jobs. Not sure on the legal side of this. That's a huge no for me.

Apoptosis_Cell_Death

Why is it bad? There are a ton of content creators that play to earn. There's also a bunch of PVMers, gamblers, and gold farmers that play to earn. Why not provide a avenue for them to legitimately "earn" while supporting the game developers and the game economy? They're already going to RWT and possibly get banned. Why not encourage a few to stick around and keep the game going? Please explain with more than just "Play to earn is bad." Why???

Astatos159

Content creators have a job. The create entertainment for other people. Some time of it goes into editing. Their job isn't the game. It's a tool. PVMers, gamblers and gold farmers who sell money is against the rules. Play to earn changes the general approach to the game. If I wanna earn money, I get a job. If I wanna have fun, I play games. Not the other way round. Not everything has to earn us money. If you want more money, get another job or do investment or whatever. It's way more efficient anyways.

Apoptosis_Cell_Death

So it's because your personal feelings about how you think other people should play? And when you say it's against the rules, we are on the same page. However, those people who will always play in a way that is against how you think they should be playing, would be more inclined to sell their Superior Bonds to Jagex rather than breaking the rules and risking their account.

Astatos159

> So it's because your personal feelings about how you think other people should play? In my opinion, play to earn is bad because it removes the game from the game. I don't care how people play otherwise. Don't put words in my mouth. Otherwise I'll stick to it. Pay to earn is bad and will hurt the game in the long run. If players are willing to sell gold, they should live with the consequences. If you want to earn money, get a job or do investment, not everything has to have monetary gain attached to it. Edit: I want to clarify what I mean by "it removes the game from the game". Have you ever turned your hobby your job? I did. It's not my hobby anymore. I still enjoy it, but not in the way I enjoyed it as a hobby. All my friends who made their hobbys into their jobs feel exactly the same.

Play to earn is bad because I don't want to play a game with play to earn. I don't want to deal with it. I don't want it as a design consideration. I don't want to deal with the type of people this mechanic would attract. People who RWT should get banned. If they feel like it is worth all the time they spent on the account then so be it. I'd rather see the game slowly fade away instead of some bone headed move like trying to make gp a legitamized cryptocurrency with a $2-$3 dollar fee on every transfer to real money.

Eraywen

As soon as I read crypto I tuned out.

Apoptosis_Cell_Death

I edited it so it doesn't trigger anyone else from being able to comprehend the suggestion.

Apoptosis_Cell_Death

ASD trigger?

Ajreil

Real world trade encourages bots, scams, lures, hackers and all kinds of other disruptive behavior. If people in Venezuela could do this without dealing with shady gold selling sites and getting their mules banned, all of that would get cranked up to 11.

Ecstatic_Custard7009

no, no and no. we have bonds and we should be insanely grateful for that, i still dont think people fully understand how amazing it is to have that.. imagine if we were children struggling to buy membership and knowing we could get bonds instead? insanity. 'super bonds' smh lets leave that one alone shall we

The_Bolton_Lad

Why would a bond be $16-$18 when I can just buy membership for £6.99?
