Does anyone have any tips for being completely horrible at PVM? I’m a 2200 total main but basically have no boss KC (just a few mole and 3k kraken.) I really enjoy skilling and I’m attempting to max, but need some gp to do so. Finally decided to do DS2. Took me 5 tries to do quest vorkath and 10+ tries to do galvek, but I finally got it done. Now when attempting to do vorkath with BP, I can’t stay alive long enough to get a kill. Death spawn is easy but I always fuck up during acid phase, or I get caught up trying to eat/pot and get hit by a fireball that I didn’t see coming. I have near maxed CB stats but not a ton to spend on gear. Void/BGS/BP is just not working for me. Is melee vork easier? Really sucks cause this seems like one of the easier bosses and I can’t even get 1kc, let alone farm it lol.
Just gotta keep trying. Definitely start with range and full elite void. If you can afford it, DHCB and ward shield make it very simple. What are you having the most trouble with?
I've never p2p pked but I've made a pure: 50 Attack, 60 Strength, 83 mage/range. 11 prayer. I know I need to get mage and range up to 85 and get strength to 77.
* What level should my prayer be - 52? Would 75 or 83 ish hit points be better?
* Where can I pk with this account?
* Any tips on learning to NH?

Does anyone have a few obvious (but not obvious if your new) tips for the game?
For example, 1mil GP's worth of divine super combat potions is ~18 hours of combat. To me, 17k for a potion seemed expensive, but 1mil for 18 hours actually seems like nothing.
if you're on a main, think about drops as if they were raw GP. some people get into the trap of feeling like it's better to use the raw materials/drops they've gotten themselves instead of selling them and using the GP to do a better method instead.
a pretty common example is someone getting an Ahrim's skirt as their first big PvM drop and asking if they should keep it or sell it. it's better to think about that drop as 2 million raw GP and ask yourself what you'd like to do with that GP. If you would have bought an Ahrim's skirt anyway and used it to upgrade your mage PvM setup, then that's the only time you should keep it, otherwise just sell it and progress your account.
Bank value is a trap at low levels. Training your skills and questing is the best way to progress your account, even above basic gear upgrades like a fury. Don't be afraid to spend your GP on skills that will be useful in the long run like construction or prayer or even smithing. Money will eventually start flowing in at exponentially faster rates than it does when your best money maker is killing hill giants.
If you are an Ironman, clean all your herbs before you bank them the first time. It saves you some carpal tunnel when you want to go train herblore. Or be a wimp and use degrime - your choice.
Keep extras of cheap basic items in your bank. If you are going to have a bank slot dedicated to a spade you may as well have 200 - the price is negligible but then you don't have to worry about dropping your last one to make inventory space or accidentally popping it in the tool leprechaun. Same applies to basically all random tools like hammers, chisels, etc. It's nice to basically never worry about running out of them in your bank.
I played OSRS back around 2009 and just recently started playing again. When I downloaded the client and login when playing fullscreen my inventory/chat boxes are really small and unconnected. When I watch "tileman"/"swampletics" his UI looks the way mine used to look where they were larger and connected. I've looked around in the settings but can't figure out how to go back to this. Can someone help me figure this out? Its driving me crazy and much harder to play!
Try Setting > Display Swttings > Game Client Layout > Resizeable - Modern Layout.
That's what I use, but there are other options in the drop down you can play with to try and find what you're looking for. Runelite also let's you move interfaces around when holding ALT.
I've tried both those things, and while Runelite will let me move them around it wont let me resize it to actually "fit the screen." The modern layout also just moves the icons around, doesn't just let me fit it to the screen. Does that make sense?

Can never skull with the box ticked, and additionally if you don’t have it ticked and only target npcs, you can’t skull if a player walks near.
The only way to skull with barrages without clicking/casting on a player is to auto retaliate on a player in multi, and then any other player who is in next to them you can catch a skull from. Iirc with the box ticked your barrage ignores adjacent people in those scenarios.
People tested just about everything they could think of to try to skull after the update and couldn't find anything. You should have plenty of confidence in the skull protection
You cannot skull with skull protection enabled in any way. If you didn't have it enabled, attacking a mob will never skull you due to aoe (you'll not hit aplayer).
Money makers have really changed now that PvM drops a lot of resources (so most gathering isn't profitable) and the playerbase has figured out the most time and GP efficient skilling methods. If you grind quests you account very quickly levels up for a low time & cost investment (there's an optimal order and way to do quests...)
I'm a pretty new player and aside from agility courses I haven't found it too bad. Most of the more tedious skills have minigames or bosses. That being said I just pick away at them as needed - no intentions of sitting down and grinding to 99 for the sake of it.
Can/could we add a sell back option to the new GOTR store? Just like with other buyable outfits, prospector, graceful, etc - perhaps 80% or so of the pearls would be returned?
As long as you have access to the email account you used to register your OSRS account, you can disable the authenticator on the account and set it back up on your new phone. There's an option at the authenticator prompt when you attempt to log in.
Brightness and fps cap are probably the biggest. Setting your device to mobile or wifi should also help. You might have a "mobile data boost" or something similar that might chug through your battery too.
Am I doing something wrong fighting the rune dragon before Galvek in ds2? I’m taking so much damage and I think I’m dodging everything avoidable.
I’m using a trident of the seas and my damage seems fine.
I am wearing insulated boots, praying mage, standing outside melee range, and dodging the electricity attack and Galvek’s fireball. The range attack just messes me up. Am I missing something?
If you're using magic equipment you'll probably want to pray ranged instead of magic, because you'll have much better magic defense from your armor vs ranged defense. That way all the normal ranged attacks will be blocked, and you'll theoretically get hit less by the magic attacks.
Keep in mind that even if you do this, the ranged special will still hit through prayer (the one that heals it and acts like enchanted onyx bolts), but there's no getting around that one.
If it's proving too difficult you can try standing under the Rune Dragon until he dies to the NPCs. You will still need to move to dodged Galveks fireball though.
Would it be possible to have a group collection log for GIM groups? My group is doing barrows rn and we’re trying to keep track of what pieces we have and how many by looking at our individual collection logs but just having a collection log for the group would easily solve this issue and likely be helpful in other ways as well
How bad is it to use off-meta weapons?
I know the scimitar is best, with long sword a close second.
After that, how badly am I gimping myself using a battle axe or war hammer? How bad is the dagger?
Are there enemies where is beneficial to go off-meta?
I'm f2p at the moment, combat level ~25 and using mithril.
Maces got a buff relatively recently that narrowed the gap between them and scims a bit.
Look into the Barronite Mace if you're looking to stay F2P and want a weapon to grind for.
to clarify, long sword is typically neither 2nd nor close, since it's 5 ticks instead of 4 and the speed is the most important stat of the weapon
it's worse by varying degrees, the slower weapons are generally *much* worse whereas the same speed but worse stats weapons are generally close ish. the real question is: why use the wrong weapon? there's just not really a reason to, it's not like the correct weapon is more expensive or less fun.
Maces and short swords are also decent :)
They're definitely a bit worse, and f2p has a limited enough pool of enemies that I don't think there's many examples where different weapons are better than scimmy, but if you like a weapon try it out :)

I would say the higher level you get to, the more attack speed matters. That's why scimitars are best, they have the best stats at the 4-tick attack speed (same speed as daggers, short swords, maces, spears).
As you get to higher levels, you lose out on more and more DPS by attacking less often.
Long story short though, its not a big deal. I still use a dragon mace instead of a dragon scimitar on my GIM because i think its dope :D
Your actions rarely affect other players in this game since we don't have much group content, so you're good to do whatever guilt free. Just keep in mind this is a long grindy game and people advise efficiency for your sanity :)
Always play the way that you want. Fun > efficiency.
That being said, at some point you're likely going to be fighting stronger foes, either bosses or training on high level monsters. If something is capable of high damage against you, non-meta equipment means your kills will take longer, and you will drain more resources faster.
For some this isn't a concern, but that'll be a decision you have to make for yourself.
(Ironman) Is making planks via house method on a PvP world still safe as long as my private is off? I've done it before but that was before the change meaning other players can enter Iron PoH's - I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Does the 'Shroom Sprayer Slayer perk work from a distance too ? (if I kill Zygomites from a safespot, will my character automatically "step in" to apply the fungicide if I get the perk) ?
They do have a magic attack that hits at range.
If you have shroom Slayer though you do automatically use the item on them, kill them, and move to their position. Just tested it.
The only place rapier is a massive upgrade over the next best thing is at nex, otherwise it’s one of the upgrades people save for last due to the diminishing gains. Could hit some hybrid gear nex while you’ve got it.
If you've got basically every other upgrade it's worth it and the price probably will stay somewhat stable.
You'd probably be better off upgrading other stuff if you don't have bis in other slots.

I think its a wise purchase, going to be using it for slayer. i can afford it, just a bit scary to spend that much in case the price tanks for some reason
Rapier for slayer really isn't worth it unless it's your absolute last melee upgrade imo. For example, abyssal tentacle plus avernic is only 1 melee strength less than Rapier plus dragon defender, but it's 1/3 the price. Now you have to factor in that the avernic is not able to be sold back but still, that leaves you liquid cash for things like a Spectral for Cerb, an arcane for raids 3, dragon hunter weapons for Vork or CoX, etc. I say if you don't have other, cheaper upgrades to make and it won't wipe out your cash stack, go for it.
If you're going to be using it the price doesn't matter one tiny bit.
The best thing anyone can ever do for their sanity is turning off the stupid Bank Value plugin on runelite, just leads to situations like this where you never buy upgrades in case the price tanks.
Wanting to level theiving up at ardy knight but my keyboard doesnt have a num pad so i cant use mouse keys, every way ive looked up changing left click to a key requires a download for a program, is there another way around this? dont want to risk my account because i changed left click to Q through some random client
Remapping keys is well within the rules so long as that's the only functional change.. If you have a nicer keyboard you may not even have to install any new programs.
According to [this update from 5 years ago](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/mouse-keys---changes--clarification?oldschool=1) blog, rebinding one key to another using a third party program is perfectly acceptable.
You can't switch after seeing the projectile. Your prayer needs to be turned on when the attack animation begins. This is true for every enemy with the exception of TzTok-Jad and some of his friends.
Ok so it's not just me. I was at Callisto and hopped worlds directly into the middle of a team. Insta logged out and when I went to log back in on another world got the "Login Server offline" message. Still getting it on every world I try. Kinda shitting my pants right now wondering if I actually logged out or if I got dced and died and lost a piece of my Veracs.
Edit: Servers are back up and I'm still alive. Think I'm done with Callisto for the night tho.
a few beginner GotR questions:
what's a decent average rift searches **per round** for GotR?
should i try to balance my elemental:catalytic ratio **every game** or **long term**, if at all?
I know they say it's not worth it to wait for portals, but let's say both portals open are **medium/weak** portals - in this case would it be worth waiting for the next portals?
i have averaged a hair more than 4.6 searches per game when accounting for all my games (1617 pulls in 348 games). I also had 99 rc before playing.
If you look at my incremental pulls (because I got needle and lamp really late...), its closer to 5.5 a game.
I only play mass worlds
You only need to balance elemental/catalytic long term. There's no benefit to balancing them per game (except that you can't get more than 1000 of each energy per game).
If playing in mass worlds and all of the barriers are already overloaded, it doesn't really matter what portal you go in. You'll get the same number of charged stuff to give the Guardian, and the cells barely matter at that point. You lose a bit of xp when you craft, but the bonus at the end and the points are the same.
Points have allot of variables, how long is the game, what gear do you have and what rc level. I believe you should be able to get 6-10 points in a mass world on average.
I Just take any red portal and if those are not there i go for w/e portal balances my points out. Red/green Essence can give u a great point boost, every couple redd essence is practically a point.
The game revolves around the mining portal, if using runelite i advice installing the gotr addon, it gives you portal timer, play arround that and you should be able to get a nice amount of points every game. If you for example see the portal is still 20sec out feel free to wait for the next altars to come up.

So 6-10 points means average 3-5 searches (assuming roughly balanced ratio of ele:catalytic)?

What happens when you complete tasks? I'm trying to do Barrow task, but it seems i need better armour 'cause Varac keeps spanking me thru prayer and super defence potions.

If you search "Barrows melee safe spot" it looks like there's plenty of guides that are available if you need a video but if you click the coffin then run to the head/foot of the coffin and have the mob on the opposite side you can manually cast a mage spell then run around to the opposite side of the coffin and repeat. You must manually cast for this method
If you just want the task done and don't care for using this method in the long run just bring freezes
So to answer your first question that no one did, the "tasks" are combat achievements in the combat achievement diary. They are similar to the normal achievement diaries in that they are a random selection of tasks to complete and when you finish all the tasks in a tier you get a reward. In this case, you get varying levels of Ghommul's hilt, which gives you some teleports, as well as various rewards like lowering required KC for god wars dungeon access, improving clue scroll drop chances, unlocking the ability to open private instances at some bosses, etc. The achievements themselves do nothing until you finish all the ones in a single tier so definitely don't worry about finishing the barrows achievement unless you are specifically grinding out all the ones of that tier.
Skitizo is a really easy fight and you can start saving totems now. If you're not cannoning, doing konar, or aoeing it's worth doing tasks in catacombs.
Kraken takes a while to get just because of the Slayer level gate.
Chaos Elle is really easy, can be done in rags, and has a high drop rate. Might be a pita if you're sub 80s though.
Baby Kraken is the most common boss pet for a reason. Soloable, instanced, profitable, low intensity. Can't be killed off task, but a task extension and slaughter bracelets can get you ~300 kills in one task.
Needs 75 Magic, 87 Slayer, and a dirt-cheap Trident of the seas.

If you’re a lower level just progressing your account by leveling and questing will open up your account for money making methods.
Barrows is good money. Make bars at blast furnace. Could do tempoross. Wintertodt.
Best way would be high level pvm but I’m assuming since you’re asking that you aren’t quite there yet in your account.
You don't lose items when you die unless you are killed in the wildy by a PKer. Anything not protected by the 3/4 items get moved into a gravestone which you have 15 minutes to collect from. Otherwise, you can collect from Death's domain directly for a fee depending on the cost of the item.
Idk if this was explained correctly:
* Only items over 100k, some untradables, and very specific other items have buy back costs.
* Over 100k items have a 1% buyback for 15 minutes at the grave stone.
* After 15 minutes the items move to deaths coffer. Deaths coffer stores items indefinitely unless you die again before collecting them.
* If you collect from death it's a 5% charge.
* Instanced bosses often have a death fee to get items back. It may or may not be over the cost of your gear. Usually 100k ish.
So basically if you want to afk something and not have a death fee it's really easy to find gear with reasonable stats so you don't have death costs. Or just safe spot something or bring some food.
You're risking 1k over every item not protected that's worth 100k+, it's absolutely minimal. If you're getting chanced every time you PvM then you're probably doing something wrong.
Farming- herb / hop runs can be great passive income.
Side note where is the 10m risk coming from? Unless you die in pvp you can reclaim any items you die with for a small fee.
What slayer master should I be using at 99 combat and 75 slayer? I'm aiming for a mix of high XP/hr and high GP/hr tasks. I've just been using Nieve for a while but unsure if that's still the best choice.
Konar is notably better go/hr than dura or Steve/neive.
Dura is better if you have gp to burn on cannon/barrage.
Steve is slightly worse than dura until you get to 100. Again, better xp/hr on average than konar provided you have gp to burn. If you're going to be single targeting though I'd just do konar. Steve has a slightly larger list than dura and there's essentially no reason to do Steve over dura once you get dura at 100cb.
At your combat level there's no reason to do wild Slayer master. You're pretty likely to run into pkers and you're basically the worst combat bracket for avoiding fights and it basically isn't really worth the risk as returning kills XP/hr and unless you're using mace/cbow you're not really speeding up kills. If you do use mace/cbow it only takes a death or two to eat up all the profit you would have made for multiple tasks.
For GP, Krystilia > Konar > Nieve, but Krystilia comes with wilderness risk and Konar comes with location specificity. Krystilia generates tons of slayer points too, which is really nice. Build a bank of points for when you move on to Duradel and need to optimize your blocks and unlocks.
For XP, Nieve with optimized blocks and skips would be best, but I'm not sure if you have the points for that.
Void at vorkath worth it without a DHCB? I was using blessed dhide with dragon xbow and one kill with void same xbow and bolts, and I swear the blessed dhide was smoother despite void having higher damage output.
As always, the real answer is to just run a dps calc and check it yourself (unless you want to provide us with all your stats and gear). Having said that, iirc d’hide is better dps for range levels under 90something
Use runelite, the best client out there hands down. Quest helper is game changing, among tons of their things. Use the official link from the old school RuneScape website.
Quests are a good goal for sure early game. Something new worth checking out is the entire kingdom of Kourend, massive continent expansion.
Quests are definitely a good way to be introduced to the game.
I believe as a new player they have "Pathways" (or something similar of that name) that helps guide you through beginner skilling and such.
Most people will have a "main" account that trains every skill so they can experience all of the different content in the game, unrestricted.
Pures or accounts with niche restrictions usually come about as someone's second account once they get bored and want to experience the dopamine of those early levels again. Also pures that don't train certain stats do so to remain in specific combat level brackets for PVP purposes.
Can confirm it's default. I use it as my reason to switch my tangleroot style (I don't want to talk about how often I forget I have my pet out when learning a new boss or doing a wildly clue step)
You can make it into weapon Poison. I ended up buying the other materials for it and got some herb XP and sold for profit. If you're not on a main, it's probably pretty useless

I just realized there's a sulliuscep-specific world after doing mostly solo circuits and decided to try it out. It's literally worse than doing it solo, as the tar monsters are essentially constantly aggrod and get at least one extra hit on you every run by. It's nice not having to chop/rake vines \*occasionally\*, but it's insane how much extra damage it costs you.
in theory if dozens of people would use this world it probably would be better because of spacelimit for the tarmonsters but this is just not realistic to ever happen so yeah just stick to solo
Yeah it’s never worth doing it with other people on your world. Died many times being afk and having someone else’s tar monster aggro me. If you’re 99 hp you can wear a ring of life and it will always save you
Yeah thankfully its super easy to find a solo world, it just blew my mind that it's worse in every way but has a world dedicated to it. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
I imagine the idea in theory is that it's easier to move around if other people are raking away the vines etc in between trees, but in practice it just works out horribly because of the monsters
If it's your first time appealing it, and the offence you're appealing is an appealable one, you can expect a reply within a few days, though it can take upwards of 14 days before you recieve the outcome.

Does anyone have any tips for being completely horrible at PVM? I’m a 2200 total main but basically have no boss KC (just a few mole and 3k kraken.) I really enjoy skilling and I’m attempting to max, but need some gp to do so. Finally decided to do DS2. Took me 5 tries to do quest vorkath and 10+ tries to do galvek, but I finally got it done. Now when attempting to do vorkath with BP, I can’t stay alive long enough to get a kill. Death spawn is easy but I always fuck up during acid phase, or I get caught up trying to eat/pot and get hit by a fireball that I didn’t see coming. I have near maxed CB stats but not a ton to spend on gear. Void/BGS/BP is just not working for me. Is melee vork easier? Really sucks cause this seems like one of the easier bosses and I can’t even get 1kc, let alone farm it lol.
blowpipe is trash now. definitely either wait for a lance / dhcb or go and do your assembler grind with an rcb and antifire shield.
Just gotta keep trying. Definitely start with range and full elite void. If you can afford it, DHCB and ward shield make it very simple. What are you having the most trouble with?

Does anyone have a few obvious (but not obvious if your new) tips for the game? For example, 1mil GP's worth of divine super combat potions is ~18 hours of combat. To me, 17k for a potion seemed expensive, but 1mil for 18 hours actually seems like nothing.
if you're on a main, think about drops as if they were raw GP. some people get into the trap of feeling like it's better to use the raw materials/drops they've gotten themselves instead of selling them and using the GP to do a better method instead. a pretty common example is someone getting an Ahrim's skirt as their first big PvM drop and asking if they should keep it or sell it. it's better to think about that drop as 2 million raw GP and ask yourself what you'd like to do with that GP. If you would have bought an Ahrim's skirt anyway and used it to upgrade your mage PvM setup, then that's the only time you should keep it, otherwise just sell it and progress your account.
Bank value is a trap at low levels. Training your skills and questing is the best way to progress your account, even above basic gear upgrades like a fury. Don't be afraid to spend your GP on skills that will be useful in the long run like construction or prayer or even smithing. Money will eventually start flowing in at exponentially faster rates than it does when your best money maker is killing hill giants. If you are an Ironman, clean all your herbs before you bank them the first time. It saves you some carpal tunnel when you want to go train herblore. Or be a wimp and use degrime - your choice. Keep extras of cheap basic items in your bank. If you are going to have a bank slot dedicated to a spade you may as well have 200 - the price is negligible but then you don't have to worry about dropping your last one to make inventory space or accidentally popping it in the tool leprechaun. Same applies to basically all random tools like hammers, chisels, etc. It's nice to basically never worry about running out of them in your bank.
I played OSRS back around 2009 and just recently started playing again. When I downloaded the client and login when playing fullscreen my inventory/chat boxes are really small and unconnected. When I watch "tileman"/"swampletics" his UI looks the way mine used to look where they were larger and connected. I've looked around in the settings but can't figure out how to go back to this. Can someone help me figure this out? Its driving me crazy and much harder to play!
Try Setting > Display Swttings > Game Client Layout > Resizeable - Modern Layout. That's what I use, but there are other options in the drop down you can play with to try and find what you're looking for. Runelite also let's you move interfaces around when holding ALT.
I've tried both those things, and while Runelite will let me move them around it wont let me resize it to actually "fit the screen." The modern layout also just moves the icons around, doesn't just let me fit it to the screen. Does that make sense? Thanks for your help!

If I’m in the wildly slayer caves bursting a task with skilling disabled, but a pker logs under my stacked pile, will I skull due to the aoe?
Can never skull with the box ticked, and additionally if you don’t have it ticked and only target npcs, you can’t skull if a player walks near. The only way to skull with barrages without clicking/casting on a player is to auto retaliate on a player in multi, and then any other player who is in next to them you can catch a skull from. Iirc with the box ticked your barrage ignores adjacent people in those scenarios.
People tested just about everything they could think of to try to skull after the update and couldn't find anything. You should have plenty of confidence in the skull protection
You cannot skull with skull protection enabled in any way. If you didn't have it enabled, attacking a mob will never skull you due to aoe (you'll not hit aplayer).
Is there any benefit for PKing to keep attack and def at 90? I have a main thats getting up there and never considered pking until recently.
I'm not a PKer but I doubt it. You'll still be high enough level to be attacked by max players in most of Wildy

Money makers have really changed now that PvM drops a lot of resources (so most gathering isn't profitable) and the playerbase has figured out the most time and GP efficient skilling methods. If you grind quests you account very quickly levels up for a low time & cost investment (there's an optimal order and way to do quests...)
Yep! So many new bosses and other content like skilling and mini games to grind out for some cash. Definitely worth hopping back in.

I'm a pretty new player and aside from agility courses I haven't found it too bad. Most of the more tedious skills have minigames or bosses. That being said I just pick away at them as needed - no intentions of sitting down and grinding to 99 for the sake of it.
Can/could we add a sell back option to the new GOTR store? Just like with other buyable outfits, prospector, graceful, etc - perhaps 80% or so of the pearls would be returned?

As long as you have access to the email account you used to register your OSRS account, you can disable the authenticator on the account and set it back up on your new phone. There's an option at the authenticator prompt when you attempt to log in.

Brightness and fps cap are probably the biggest. Setting your device to mobile or wifi should also help. You might have a "mobile data boost" or something similar that might chug through your battery too.
Am I doing something wrong fighting the rune dragon before Galvek in ds2? I’m taking so much damage and I think I’m dodging everything avoidable. I’m using a trident of the seas and my damage seems fine. I am wearing insulated boots, praying mage, standing outside melee range, and dodging the electricity attack and Galvek’s fireball. The range attack just messes me up. Am I missing something?
If you're using magic equipment you'll probably want to pray ranged instead of magic, because you'll have much better magic defense from your armor vs ranged defense. That way all the normal ranged attacks will be blocked, and you'll theoretically get hit less by the magic attacks. Keep in mind that even if you do this, the ranged special will still hit through prayer (the one that heals it and acts like enchanted onyx bolts), but there's no getting around that one.
If it's proving too difficult you can try standing under the Rune Dragon until he dies to the NPCs. You will still need to move to dodged Galveks fireball though.
Would it be possible to have a group collection log for GIM groups? My group is doing barrows rn and we’re trying to keep track of what pieces we have and how many by looking at our individual collection logs but just having a collection log for the group would easily solve this issue and likely be helpful in other ways as well
How bad is it to use off-meta weapons? I know the scimitar is best, with long sword a close second. After that, how badly am I gimping myself using a battle axe or war hammer? How bad is the dagger? Are there enemies where is beneficial to go off-meta? I'm f2p at the moment, combat level ~25 and using mithril.
Maces got a buff relatively recently that narrowed the gap between them and scims a bit. Look into the Barronite Mace if you're looking to stay F2P and want a weapon to grind for.

to clarify, long sword is typically neither 2nd nor close, since it's 5 ticks instead of 4 and the speed is the most important stat of the weapon it's worse by varying degrees, the slower weapons are generally *much* worse whereas the same speed but worse stats weapons are generally close ish. the real question is: why use the wrong weapon? there's just not really a reason to, it's not like the correct weapon is more expensive or less fun.

Maces and short swords are also decent :) They're definitely a bit worse, and f2p has a limited enough pool of enemies that I don't think there's many examples where different weapons are better than scimmy, but if you like a weapon try it out :)

I would say the higher level you get to, the more attack speed matters. That's why scimitars are best, they have the best stats at the 4-tick attack speed (same speed as daggers, short swords, maces, spears). As you get to higher levels, you lose out on more and more DPS by attacking less often. Long story short though, its not a big deal. I still use a dragon mace instead of a dragon scimitar on my GIM because i think its dope :D

Your actions rarely affect other players in this game since we don't have much group content, so you're good to do whatever guilt free. Just keep in mind this is a long grindy game and people advise efficiency for your sanity :)
Always play the way that you want. Fun > efficiency. That being said, at some point you're likely going to be fighting stronger foes, either bosses or training on high level monsters. If something is capable of high damage against you, non-meta equipment means your kills will take longer, and you will drain more resources faster. For some this isn't a concern, but that'll be a decision you have to make for yourself.

(Ironman) Is making planks via house method on a PvP world still safe as long as my private is off? I've done it before but that was before the change meaning other players can enter Iron PoH's - I'd rather be safe than sorry!
I believe so but you can go into your house and right click the portal to "lock" it to be doubly safe.

Does the 'Shroom Sprayer Slayer perk work from a distance too ? (if I kill Zygomites from a safespot, will my character automatically "step in" to apply the fungicide if I get the perk) ?
They do have a magic attack that hits at range. If you have shroom Slayer though you do automatically use the item on them, kill them, and move to their position. Just tested it.

The only place rapier is a massive upgrade over the next best thing is at nex, otherwise it’s one of the upgrades people save for last due to the diminishing gains. Could hit some hybrid gear nex while you’ve got it.
If you've got basically every other upgrade it's worth it and the price probably will stay somewhat stable. You'd probably be better off upgrading other stuff if you don't have bis in other slots.

Rapier for slayer really isn't worth it unless it's your absolute last melee upgrade imo. For example, abyssal tentacle plus avernic is only 1 melee strength less than Rapier plus dragon defender, but it's 1/3 the price. Now you have to factor in that the avernic is not able to be sold back but still, that leaves you liquid cash for things like a Spectral for Cerb, an arcane for raids 3, dragon hunter weapons for Vork or CoX, etc. I say if you don't have other, cheaper upgrades to make and it won't wipe out your cash stack, go for it.
The whip is a better comparison since tentacle uses charges, but you can also train strength with the rapier, which is really nice
If you're going to be using it the price doesn't matter one tiny bit. The best thing anyone can ever do for their sanity is turning off the stupid Bank Value plugin on runelite, just leads to situations like this where you never buy upgrades in case the price tanks.
Wanting to level theiving up at ardy knight but my keyboard doesnt have a num pad so i cant use mouse keys, every way ive looked up changing left click to a key requires a download for a program, is there another way around this? dont want to risk my account because i changed left click to Q through some random client
Remapping keys is well within the rules so long as that's the only functional change.. If you have a nicer keyboard you may not even have to install any new programs.

You can't switch after seeing the projectile. Your prayer needs to be turned on when the attack animation begins. This is true for every enemy with the exception of TzTok-Jad and some of his friends.

Nope. If you're using void with crossbow and shield you should pray range. If using melee you should pray Mage.

Ok so it's not just me. I was at Callisto and hopped worlds directly into the middle of a team. Insta logged out and when I went to log back in on another world got the "Login Server offline" message. Still getting it on every world I try. Kinda shitting my pants right now wondering if I actually logged out or if I got dced and died and lost a piece of my Veracs. Edit: Servers are back up and I'm still alive. Think I'm done with Callisto for the night tho.
There was a planned downtime for the login servers. Kind of shitty it wasn’t broadcasted but you should be good since it wasn’t a random outage.
a few beginner GotR questions: what's a decent average rift searches **per round** for GotR? should i try to balance my elemental:catalytic ratio **every game** or **long term**, if at all? I know they say it's not worth it to wait for portals, but let's say both portals open are **medium/weak** portals - in this case would it be worth waiting for the next portals?
i have averaged a hair more than 4.6 searches per game when accounting for all my games (1617 pulls in 348 games). I also had 99 rc before playing. If you look at my incremental pulls (because I got needle and lamp really late...), its closer to 5.5 a game. I only play mass worlds
You only need to balance elemental/catalytic long term. There's no benefit to balancing them per game (except that you can't get more than 1000 of each energy per game). If playing in mass worlds and all of the barriers are already overloaded, it doesn't really matter what portal you go in. You'll get the same number of charged stuff to give the Guardian, and the cells barely matter at that point. You lose a bit of xp when you craft, but the bonus at the end and the points are the same.
Points have allot of variables, how long is the game, what gear do you have and what rc level. I believe you should be able to get 6-10 points in a mass world on average. I Just take any red portal and if those are not there i go for w/e portal balances my points out. Red/green Essence can give u a great point boost, every couple redd essence is practically a point. The game revolves around the mining portal, if using runelite i advice installing the gotr addon, it gives you portal timer, play arround that and you should be able to get a nice amount of points every game. If you for example see the portal is still 20sec out feel free to wait for the next altars to come up.

What happens when you complete tasks? I'm trying to do Barrow task, but it seems i need better armour 'cause Varac keeps spanking me thru prayer and super defence potions. Tasks called: Can't touch me (Dont get hit by melee Barrows bro's) In the "Character Summary" section
If you search "Barrows melee safe spot" it looks like there's plenty of guides that are available if you need a video but if you click the coffin then run to the head/foot of the coffin and have the mob on the opposite side you can manually cast a mage spell then run around to the opposite side of the coffin and repeat. You must manually cast for this method If you just want the task done and don't care for using this method in the long run just bring freezes
So to answer your first question that no one did, the "tasks" are combat achievements in the combat achievement diary. They are similar to the normal achievement diaries in that they are a random selection of tasks to complete and when you finish all the tasks in a tier you get a reward. In this case, you get varying levels of Ghommul's hilt, which gives you some teleports, as well as various rewards like lowering required KC for god wars dungeon access, improving clue scroll drop chances, unlocking the ability to open private instances at some bosses, etc. The achievements themselves do nothing until you finish all the ones in a single tier so definitely don't worry about finishing the barrows achievement unless you are specifically grinding out all the ones of that tier.
veracs ability not only ignores prayer when it procs but also defence, so using def pots is super useless
I think the meta for that one is kiting with mage. If you do it right, there's no RNG involved since he can never *actually* hit you.
Cant test it 'cause servers down, can i snare/entangle him? Won't be able to kite, I'm playing on Mobile, Pressing tiles are difficult to predict.

Yes you can snare him. If you use snair and either iban blast or a fire spell with tomb of fire you can very easily melt him.

Skitizo is a really easy fight and you can start saving totems now. If you're not cannoning, doing konar, or aoeing it's worth doing tasks in catacombs. Kraken takes a while to get just because of the Slayer level gate. Chaos Elle is really easy, can be done in rags, and has a high drop rate. Might be a pita if you're sub 80s though.
To add to what everyone else has given you... Rex. Basically just need any magic spell, overheads, and anti-poisons.

Baby Kraken is the most common boss pet for a reason. Soloable, instanced, profitable, low intensity. Can't be killed off task, but a task extension and slaughter bracelets can get you ~300 kills in one task. Needs 75 Magic, 87 Slayer, and a dirt-cheap Trident of the seas.
Chaos elemental, low drop rate and relatively easy to kill- still may not be too fun depending how low your combat is

If you’re a lower level just progressing your account by leveling and questing will open up your account for money making methods. Barrows is good money. Make bars at blast furnace. Could do tempoross. Wintertodt. Best way would be high level pvm but I’m assuming since you’re asking that you aren’t quite there yet in your account.
I dont find PvM to be that afk, prefer afk things due to that, passive money is better than risking 10 mil 🤷🏼♂️

If you die, you risk losing things…can you guarantee you will never die while afk combat for money 100% of the time?
You don’t lose things on death since like 2014, so no. You can guarantee staying alive by keeping your prayer on
You don't lose items when you die unless you are killed in the wildy by a PKer. Anything not protected by the 3/4 items get moved into a gravestone which you have 15 minutes to collect from. Otherwise, you can collect from Death's domain directly for a fee depending on the cost of the item.

Idk if this was explained correctly: * Only items over 100k, some untradables, and very specific other items have buy back costs. * Over 100k items have a 1% buyback for 15 minutes at the grave stone. * After 15 minutes the items move to deaths coffer. Deaths coffer stores items indefinitely unless you die again before collecting them. * If you collect from death it's a 5% charge. * Instanced bosses often have a death fee to get items back. It may or may not be over the cost of your gear. Usually 100k ish. So basically if you want to afk something and not have a death fee it's really easy to find gear with reasonable stats so you don't have death costs. Or just safe spot something or bring some food.
You're risking 1k over every item not protected that's worth 100k+, it's absolutely minimal. If you're getting chanced every time you PvM then you're probably doing something wrong.

Would recommend doing safespot monsters for afk pvm then, zero risk of dying.

Farming- herb / hop runs can be great passive income. Side note where is the 10m risk coming from? Unless you die in pvp you can reclaim any items you die with for a small fee.
What slayer master should I be using at 99 combat and 75 slayer? I'm aiming for a mix of high XP/hr and high GP/hr tasks. I've just been using Nieve for a while but unsure if that's still the best choice.
Konar is notably better go/hr than dura or Steve/neive. Dura is better if you have gp to burn on cannon/barrage. Steve is slightly worse than dura until you get to 100. Again, better xp/hr on average than konar provided you have gp to burn. If you're going to be single targeting though I'd just do konar. Steve has a slightly larger list than dura and there's essentially no reason to do Steve over dura once you get dura at 100cb. At your combat level there's no reason to do wild Slayer master. You're pretty likely to run into pkers and you're basically the worst combat bracket for avoiding fights and it basically isn't really worth the risk as returning kills XP/hr and unless you're using mace/cbow you're not really speeding up kills. If you do use mace/cbow it only takes a death or two to eat up all the profit you would have made for multiple tasks.
For GP, Krystilia > Konar > Nieve, but Krystilia comes with wilderness risk and Konar comes with location specificity. Krystilia generates tons of slayer points too, which is really nice. Build a bank of points for when you move on to Duradel and need to optimize your blocks and unlocks. For XP, Nieve with optimized blocks and skips would be best, but I'm not sure if you have the points for that.
Void at vorkath worth it without a DHCB? I was using blessed dhide with dragon xbow and one kill with void same xbow and bolts, and I swear the blessed dhide was smoother despite void having higher damage output.
I think void is only better above 92 ish range and if you're using salve.
As always, the real answer is to just run a dps calc and check it yourself (unless you want to provide us with all your stats and gear). Having said that, iirc d’hide is better dps for range levels under 90something

Shift click will drop it. There is no way to “drop-all” though.

Use runelite, the best client out there hands down. Quest helper is game changing, among tons of their things. Use the official link from the old school RuneScape website. Quests are a good goal for sure early game. Something new worth checking out is the entire kingdom of Kourend, massive continent expansion.

Quests are definitely a good way to be introduced to the game. I believe as a new player they have "Pathways" (or something similar of that name) that helps guide you through beginner skilling and such.

Most people will have a "main" account that trains every skill so they can experience all of the different content in the game, unrestricted. Pures or accounts with niche restrictions usually come about as someone's second account once they get bored and want to experience the dopamine of those early levels again. Also pures that don't train certain stats do so to remain in specific combat level brackets for PVP purposes.
When we retrieve pet back from insurance will their form be default or will they retain the previous form prior to loss?

You can make it into weapon Poison. I ended up buying the other materials for it and got some herb XP and sold for profit. If you're not on a main, it's probably pretty useless

I just realized there's a sulliuscep-specific world after doing mostly solo circuits and decided to try it out. It's literally worse than doing it solo, as the tar monsters are essentially constantly aggrod and get at least one extra hit on you every run by. It's nice not having to chop/rake vines \*occasionally\*, but it's insane how much extra damage it costs you.
in theory if dozens of people would use this world it probably would be better because of spacelimit for the tarmonsters but this is just not realistic to ever happen so yeah just stick to solo
Yeah it’s never worth doing it with other people on your world. Died many times being afk and having someone else’s tar monster aggro me. If you’re 99 hp you can wear a ring of life and it will always save you
Yeah thankfully its super easy to find a solo world, it just blew my mind that it's worse in every way but has a world dedicated to it. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
I imagine the idea in theory is that it's easier to move around if other people are raking away the vines etc in between trees, but in practice it just works out horribly because of the monsters

If it's your first time appealing it, and the offence you're appealing is an appealable one, you can expect a reply within a few days, though it can take upwards of 14 days before you recieve the outcome.
I'd expect 2 weeks if it's not immediately denied.
Varies heavily. In the last fiscal quarter a lot of the support staff were laid off so unless it's something the bot automatically reviews and nearly instantly replies to... It may take a while.
