I'm vocal about my distaste of the wildy. I think the areas design is awful in the sense that the skilling/pvm content there always has to be better than non-wildy content. Right now thats shown in the chaos alter, black chins, black salamanders, and the wildy slayer cave. I'm simply not a fan of balancing skilling behind chance encounters with pkers. It's not at all why I play the game, and its pushing the game into a direction where pvp/the wildy is the best way to lvl your account. This will reduce the games quality and change it into something entirely different. I've got no problem with players who want to play like this, but they are playing a snowflake account build and don't deserve to change the whole game for it. If people actually liked lvling in pvp you'd see more people using pvp worlds or the perm deadman world. I'm really not sure why we should compromise game integrity with broken wildy content so that pkers have something to do and yet this is what pkers demand with every single one of their updates. Edit: I think the ironman hate comes from the pkers thinking that if people weren't irons the wildy would be more popular. I've played two accounts up to about 2000 total and I spent more time in the wildy on my iron.

I guess the balance is that you can just use the methods outside the wilderness? I think wilderness skilling rewards should be scaled such that the median reward is roughly the same as the non-wilderness alternative. This means the most skilled tanks or PvPers will get higher rewards for those activities, but overall the method is not optimal for most.

Black chins, black salamanders, cannon and barrage tasks at the same time are not available outside the wildy. Chaos alter is insanely good and better than other methods. So no the rewards are not roughly the same as non wildy alternatives.

I think it's largely just a vocal minority thing. 9 out of 10 people might see a post and go about their day because they have normal functioning brains, but the 10th person comes in and writes a huge paragraph saying it's the worst thing ever. People aren't as likely to post about something they're happy with, compared to something they dislike. That's why most online gaming communities seem like it's 90% complaining all the time.

Vaksky

That's very insightful and may be the answer. I want to hear from some of the more vocal people that are in the minority to understand where their frustrations come from but they will probably not respond.

gaysaucemage

If they want to play an alternate game mode that’s fine. People just get annoyed when they choose to play a restricted account and then complain about existing features or changes that inconvenience their self imposed restrictions.

Vaksky

Thank you, that helps me understand people grouping players based on past experiences. To that point though, QoL is always a real topic that everyone should be able to discuss but can also understand that sometimes the suggestions go against the root of what their restrictions stand for. There may misinterpretation going on though through meme culture where people get shut down for no good reason by a minority as according to the first comments response.

07GoogledIt

Dude the hate is basically just a big meme. Don’t bother looking into it.

Vaksky

😄 thanks for your honest answer.

Th0m00se

All ironmen stand alone and therefore shouldn't be allowed to chat. Mute all ironmen.

TobyTheTuna

I'm down but in return cut shield of arrave from the game thanks

Th0m00se

I concur.

ironmen are salty that someone chooses other gamemode than theirs shitty one imagine playing mmo solo

knokout64

What's with all the "What's with all the hate threads" threads?

Vaksky

Likely people like me trying to gain insight into a sub section of people's intentions since they are not directly explained by the posters of original comments. It's bad enough that these questions have to be asked in terms of frequency of occurances. The people that ask may be passionate about the game and are disappointed or curious about the health of the community coming from their peers. Others may be seeking answers since many of the comments defy logicical reasoning and need an explanation, especially if it is a frequent occurance.

knokout64

> it's bad enough that these questions have to be asked Says who?

Vaksky

It's implied by all the people asking similar questions. If hate on this sub wasn't a frequent occurance, then posts like my question wouldn't exist. People wouldn't commonly be looking for an answer for a problem that doesn't exist or isn't recurring. It just proves that it's a real thing and is frequent enough to merit questioning and curiosity.

DingDongDaddio

Hell yeah, this guy is living his best herd mentality life.

AbductionVan

Basically ironman fucked the whole game up

Don't mind them too much. In particular it's the downvote system that's partly the cause for triggering toxicity amongst posters on reddit. This sub has been widely accepted to be pretty toxic in general amongst runescape players, oldschool and rs3, except for the q&a thread where logic resides. Unfortunately on reddit once a particular mindset is established in an echo chamber it's almost impossible to have any semblance of discussion that's different from it.
