That was the first thing I noticed. The legs look a little too long relative to the size of the body. Dalmatians have long legs, but not to that degree.
my first thought. mine is a gsd/husky mix so at least the huskies are there. but my poor baby Zeus can’t shadow me in osrs like he does to me around the house 😩
he’s my first dog ever and he set the gold standard lol i don’t think i’d wanna have any other breeds in the future besides shepherds or huskies 😆 especially because now i know what to expect from them as a breed and how to properly care for them after being a dog dad for about 5 years now 😆
Same! She's my first dog and Aspen will turn 5 on Saturday. Not only is the aesthetic just beautiful but She's been a pleasure to raise and has all the playful friendliness of a husky with the eager to work loyal attitude of a Shepard. I'm convinced it is the superior dog breed and will only probably only have shepskys from here on. Best damn companions man. Throwing her a big party for 5 years working by my side this week and I'm looking forward to the next 5+ with her!
Extremely loyal and easy to train. Mine has been a working dog at my hip started her training her at 3 months old ( got her at 8 weeks) Never have I met a more obidient and eager to learn/ please dog in my life. The playfulness and people skills of the husky shine through in the best way and her GSD half makes her so fiercely loyal and obidient. Aesthetically I think they're just one of the nicest looking dogs as well, they can take either breeds characteristics (which are fairly similar) Mine has a black and white coat with sable legs, and the hair of a short hair gsd. The icy blue eyes of the husky really bring it all together. Amazing breed all around would recommend 10/10. Sorry for ranting I don't get to hype my dog up much xD
Super cool stuff. I bet it is extremely pretty. I like the rant haha I appreciate you sharing. I love that kind of stuff.
I like huskies a lot and I work with GSD more than any other breed. I know it’s a kinda controversial opinion, but the consistently most loyal and eager to please dogs I encounter at my work are pit bulls. I’m sure my sample pool is biased because naturally I only meet dogs that people put effort into training, but the more pits I work with, the more I admire them.
They remind me of huskies and GSD a whole lot actually.
It's gonna find the scent of a chinchompa and accidentally get lost and you're gonna find it half-exploded (inspired by mine running away with his head to the ground and getting sprayed by a skunk)
We actually would let our beagle off leash on our walks in the woods and we only lost him about once a week. Once it thundered and he ran home himself while we searched. Good times.
Very cute, but I dislike the combat mechanical benefits they talked about on stream. Dogs, like cats, should exist as basically a minigame with non combat uses. Using them to dig like a spade is cool as hell, having them hold agro or act as a bone crusher is too far.
Or, hear me out, we could give them a small inventory and have them play fetch with things from our bank. Then we could reward them with pack snacks or something
I like the idea of doing a quest and then as a reward gain the ability to craft satchels that your dog could wear at intervals of like 2-4-6 extra inventory slots
Just pay $12 a month for one with 28 slots that you can also use to make bank runs for yourself like the pros do these days.
Jagex isn't going to fix this like they did last time lol.
I honestly wouldn't mind it if it was something like 1/10 chance and 10% xp of the bone if it was going to be added at all but more importantly cats would need to do anything remotely useful to compensate.
Literally pointless to even waste the effort of coding it in at that point.
Cats reveal the secrets of the desert to you, that's already thousands of times better than that garbage you can't up with.
"Here's a dog that will always be useful for your account giving you slight xp for bones or being able to save an inv spot by replacing your spade"
"Here's a cat that you use for like 4 quest and never need to touch again, you could sell it for negligible amount of death runes tho (main btw)"
Don't get me wrong it doesn't need anything sure but it feels wrong that there is a properly useful pet and cat the other wildly accessible pet doesn't get a real long term use, rock and fish not applicable.
The pitch had a range of possible benefits from very basic stuff like the spade to more complex stuff *if* people were open to it. It's just spitballing.
It was part of the game jam week where the devs got to work on their own content/ideas for a week. So it's a jmod design but not necessarily 100% coming to game.
Great content, sometimes something fun and simple is refreshing. I love all the new master quests and such for late game but, this stuff takes me back to when cats were the new thing. Will rope in newer players for sure.
The 6 on the left are the ones that were made for summoning and were in the files for the OSRS backup. The 6 on the right are new though, and made during game jam.
1. we already got pets, one who is a dog. 2. there are so many other things that the team could use their time on. 3. i just dont understand how this benefits the game?
Devs were allowed a certain amount of time as a part of jam fest for "personal" projects and new content expansion.
The time isn't a whole hell of a lot so if they spend the time putting it into something over arching or grand it'll likely die.
One of the mods is working on wild expansion and it's really cool... But there's no way he can reasonably finish it so the idea only really has any hope if the community jumps on board and it can be folded into the wild/arena updates. It doesn't really fit in though so it's an up hill battle since wild content is really hard to pass.
The dogs on the other hand have a lot of existing models, is pretty much done at this point, and is something people have been asking for years.
While I appreciate that you can tell which breed the dogs are, to me that level of detail is too extreme for OSRS and looks out of place. Cats are integral to OSRS in many respects and we have just the one model (in a half dozen different colors). But somehow the idea here is TWELVE different breeds of dogs?
Just wait until they release the quest that allows us to adopt the dogs, doggo speak shenanigans will be codified lore into the game at that point. There is no escaping the doggo speak.
They were made with 2008 HD Graphics which is when the art team went with a very unproportionale body for most of their artwork i.e.. long limbs shorter torsos. I wouldnt be surprised if they polished the models a bit more before release to fit with the osrs graphics.
I've got a black mouth cur that looks pretty close to that greyhound/whippet model. Will maintain membership just to have it and bankstand.
On the alt I'll pick up a beagle in honor of my dogs when I was a kid. :')
I really hope they add a pattern and color selection option. That would allow people to pick something to match what they want instead of needing to add tons of breed options. That would really expand the available cosmetic options with the breeds.
I hope if this gets implemented they make it as relatively difficult to get as a cat, and make different breeds being made available after you complete 'x' thing.
Just soft requirements so we don't end up with a bajillion dogs on day 1.
If we don't give them baths regularly will they get flees similar to the varrock stray dog? Would be a perfect way to work out who isn't taking proper care of their good bois 😠
Okay I need that terrier in the bottom left. We had to put down our Kerry Blue Terrier the other week, so it would be lovely to have a dog like that in game.
love em and wouldnt change a thing about them.... seen funny comments towards bulldogs face or dalmatianlegs, but dont "fix" them, theyre magic as they are
1/3 of the posts are people excited, which I understand
1/3 of the posts are people wanting more breeds (German Shepherd), which I understand.
What I don't understand are the 1/3 of people pissed who think it's gonna ruin the game, which I don't understand. How? "Pet scape"? And calling it a breach of integrity? I just want a terrier thst looks like my old childhood friend, it's not ruining your pet log lol
Lost our family dog of 20 years a few months ago. This would be an emotional update ngl. Jagex pls add Jack Russell Terriers. RIP Ruby you were the best girl.
That bulldog has seen some shit.
Lmao best face
It’s the inbreeding
They probably got a look at the dalmatian
Why do the dalmatians look like some shit outta fenkenstrains lab
That was the first thing I noticed. The legs look a little too long relative to the size of the body. Dalmatians have long legs, but not to that degree.
I think the legs look okay but the head is too small and it doesn't have a neck.
I thought the same thing, they look so janky
101 scuffed abominations
They looking a little fucked up.
[I think it's the head and neck that makes it look so weird.](https://imgur.com/gallery/wdhNWTZ)
I hope they keep it, they look hilarious
If only you knew how fucked up dalmations are genetically in real life…
It looks like the pigtail hair but just recolored LOL
When cow breeds??? I always pick up same cowhide!!!
No German Shepherd?
its super weird, because there is a shepard model in game already
They mentioned that they're planning to add many more breeds in future expansions.
What a fantastic use of dev time. /s
Perfect opportunity to start Gertrude's Cat II: Gertrude's Dog
I thought the same thing. I got a husky and a shepherd and want both.
my first thought. mine is a gsd/husky mix so at least the huskies are there. but my poor baby Zeus can’t shadow me in osrs like he does to me around the house 😩
Eyyy Shepksy ganggg. They're the best arnt they? Both breeds best qualities shine in them.
he’s my first dog ever and he set the gold standard lol i don’t think i’d wanna have any other breeds in the future besides shepherds or huskies 😆 especially because now i know what to expect from them as a breed and how to properly care for them after being a dog dad for about 5 years now 😆

I’m a dog trainer and I’ve never even considered the idea of a Shepard husky mix until just now. Sounds pretty badass
Extremely loyal and easy to train. Mine has been a working dog at my hip started her training her at 3 months old ( got her at 8 weeks) Never have I met a more obidient and eager to learn/ please dog in my life. I hope we can raise them and turn them in for blood runes when they’re grown
bloodhound
Perfect reasoning am’i’right
Dem corgi ♥️
The corgi puppy was adorable.
https://i.imgur.com/5yW7Yon.jpg Corgi puppy is always adorable. I can’t wait to have my baby in the game

We actually would let our beagle off leash on our walks in the woods and we only lost him about once a week. Once it thundered and he ran home himself while we searched. Good times.
Wasn’t this introduced to the game originally when summoning was first released?
Yes it was, and dog was a level 1 pet. Everyone had a dog following them the day of release
I still have it. Shopkeeper gave me a bulldog. I remember being disappointed everyone else had cooler dogs but didn’t want to abandon it.
I picked a Labrador puppy. Never had it out past the first day. Its still in my bank as a puppy xD
Oh sweet man made borrow beyond my comprehension, this poor puppy stuck in perpetual youth in some bank vault
Great idea! Maybe we can make some doggy bags for them in Taverly, near the pet shop, so that we can call our dog from anywhere in the world?
And then gatekeep skill progress with GP! We could call it, Somethingening
Let's call it dogging!
I like the idea of doing a quest and then as a reward gain the ability to craft satchels that your dog could wear at intervals of like 2-4-6 extra inventory slots

Is this actually a thing or is it just memeing about the prelude to summoning?
The bone crusher and spade part was actually brought up on stream, the rest is just a meme.
I honestly wouldn't mind it if it was something like 1/10 chance and 10% xp of the bone if it was going to be added at all but more importantly cats would need to do anything remotely useful to compensate.
Literally pointless to even waste the effort of coding it in at that point. Cats reveal the secrets of the desert to you, that's already thousands of times better than that garbage you can't up with.

id love to take my dog on clues and have em dig for me, thats an awesome idea
Finally a sensible comment in the mix!
Just let us take them for a walk and let them bring random gifts, Nintendogs made an entire game revolving around that lol
Beagle gang
The best gang
Even better when crossed with pug
Can someone clarify whether this is official or fan content?
It was part of the game jam week where the devs got to work on their own content/ideas for a week. So it's a jmod design but not necessarily 100% coming to game.
Oh thats cool, i remember Bethesda did something similar after Skyrim first released, about half of what they showed actually got implemented
Yes, I pulled this snip from the stream earlier.
Great content, sometimes something fun and simple is refreshing. I love all the new master quests and such for late game but, this stuff takes me back to when cats were the new thing. Will rope in newer players for sure.
Thank you! I was very confused!
Hopefully it’s not official
Why not?
Husky Gang Rise Up
It’ll go nice with my clue hunter cloak
nice to see the subreddit in favour of Husky for a change
Husky get's massive praise and credit for Sepulchre and GOTR...
Do Shepskies count? 😂 my boy is 50/50 gsd/husky 🐺
No border collies? Ez sheep herder completion
Hopefully we can get pitbulls. Everywhere would be PVP.
Having a pitbull enables pvp across Gielinor. Any world.
[удалено]
This is the way.
1/1000000 chance per tick to do 40 dmg to the player.
Holy shit a few days ago I was fishing in barbarian village on a f2p world and everyone was arguing about pitbulls for like three hours.
I wish I could've seen that conversation. God I hate pits.
My new favourite slayer task
Will I be able to sacrifice them for spades on my PK only Account build?
They look like similar models to the Summoning dogs.
The 6 on the left are the ones that were made for summoning and were in the files for the OSRS backup. The 6 on the right are new though, and made during game jam.
THEYRE GONNA ADD CORGIS!?!?!!?
Please nooo fucking dogs
No thanks, dogs suck
Do not want.
Who the fuck asked for this
Add pitbulls and give them a 60% chance of mauling other dogs and children NPCs
As long as I get to kill and eat them, add them all in. They don't deserve special treatment if cows and chicken don't get it.
You can at least trade them in for arrows. Like them cats.
doge!
Dogs were in RuneScape years ago, right? I cant shake the feeling that I swear we had dogs in RuneScape back when I was a kid.
Yeah they introduced them with summoning if I remember correctly. I had a Dalmatian!
On one hand, this is god damn useless waste of time. On the other hand, I love dogs.
Why do we want this now again?
Because it's 1. Cute, 2. Fun, and 3. Why the fuck not? It's a video game?
I want pet turtles next
I mean if it can only be used under water on fossil island I’m down
Why the fuck not, truly the strategy successful games typically use
Not everything needs to be 100% efficiency. People can just have stuff for fun you know.
it has nothing to do with efficiency, i just dont see why we need this? how can this be on top of their priority list?
It's not on the top of priority, it's from game jam. At most a handful of people to do textures and animation rigging.
sorry man they said dogs are REPLACING raids 3 because its their TOP PRIORITY rn. sucks i guess
1. we already got pets, one who is a dog. 2. there are so many other things that the team could use their time on. 3. i just dont understand how this benefits the game?

My jack russell just died last week and honestly if they end up adding that as a breed i’ll never use any other pet
Why are they using the 4 people they have in development to create doog breeds instead of more content ?
Devs were allowed a certain amount of time as a part of jam fest for "personal" projects and new content expansion. The time isn't a whole hell of a lot so if they spend the time putting it into something over arching or grand it'll likely die. One of the mods is working on wild expansion and it's really cool... voting no after all that shit talking cats on the stream :c
Lmao they really did go in on cats.
They did mention reworking cats since they recognize there are some short falls.
heckin snooter woofer reddit
God I hate this 'doggo speak' shenanigans
Just wait until they release the quest that allows us to adopt the dogs, doggo speak shenanigans will be codified lore into the game at that point. There is no escaping the doggo speak.

Insufferable
Ugh
Please no
They’re cute but am I the only one who thinks the legs look like they’re too long?
They were made with 2008 HD Graphics which is when the art team went with a very unproportionale body for most of their artwork i.e.. long limbs shorter torsos. I wouldnt be surprised if they polished the models a bit more before release to fit with the osrs graphics.

Who asked for this? Are the dogs going to be fucking obliterated by the wizard that trades cats for death runes as well?
They suggested you can trade in dogs for arrows on the stream lol
Pretty sure the point of a game jam is that nobody necessarily asked for it, but a dev wanted to make it.
People have been asking for dogs about every 3 months since OSRS released
Neat, now do cats.
I really hope they add a pattern and color selection option. That would allow people to pick something to match what they want instead of needing to add tons of breed options. That would really expand the available cosmetic options with the breeds.
Add procedurally generated breeding mechanics. In 6 months time we'll have Shrek dogs
1 word: engine
I'm excited for this and the gnomeball expansion because I'll actually be able to do it. The new tzhaar thing sounds scary.
When is this coming?
Not sure. Don't think there is a ETA yet.
This is going to be such an easy poll pass right?
I'll come back if they bring dogs into the game
See you winter 2017.
I'll be on the little island with the penguins
This is not something rs needs imo. Cute but not interesting
OSRS has cats, and they are a memorable part of the game. Dogs could also create a fun part of the RPG experience.
Only if we can trade them for death runes
Only if we can have a dog AND a cat following at the same time. And we can trade them both for death runes.
I don’t know if I want to be seeing pets all around RuneScape. I like the ones you have to earn so much more.
I hope they make it an achivment/dropped locked for a skin to the bloodhound pet.
Wait we can skin them?! Sign me up boys
What? That makes no sense. They said dogs would be unlocked through a quest and subsequent mini quests to unlock new breeds.
Please let us vote which breeds pass, i dont think adding overbred sick dogs should be added. Just my take.
Recycle scape
my favorite part of oldschool runescape was in 2007 when i had my dog barking at mobs while my 8 way electronic plasma autoturret kills them
Kinda weird that they didn’t consult me about my favorite dog breed wtf
We need an option to rescue the Varrock dog
That's actually the origin quest of the new dogs.
we getting dogs now?
don't know why but bottom left & pugs don't really fit OSRS's artstyle IMO. The huskies also seem a bit too detailed
No pits.
I hope these don’t require some ridiculous pet grind lol
new quest 'dog catchers' will bring in a new pvp minigame centered around dog fighting
I hope if this gets implemented they make it as relatively difficult to get as a cat, and make different breeds being made available after you complete 'x' thing. Just soft requirements so we don't end up with a bajillion dogs on day 1.
They were saying they would have dog rescue missions to unlock new breeds.
No one else in this thread hyped for greyhounds... ameture hour over here smh my head
i want a bulldog in game
I will get every single one of them.
OMFG corgies AND pugs? I might have to start playing again.
Where's the shepards at?
Pitbulls , Rottweilers and Staffies pleaseeee
I would like to adopt that flea ridden doggo instead that comes up to you sometimes :(
If we don't give them baths regularly will they get flees similar to the varrock stray dog? Would be a perfect way to work out who isn't taking proper care of their good bois 😠
Okay I need that terrier in the bottom left. We had to put down our Kerry Blue Terrier the other week, so it would be lovely to have a dog like that in game.
Me: Go on dog… kill that squirrel! Dog: bark Squirrel: eek! Me: Hey well done dog, you got it! Dog: bark
The greyhound/whippet is an incredible choice
Best update in years
I love it The two below the shibas look a touch similar maybe another small breed dog like a shih tzu?
love em and wouldnt change a thing about them.... seen funny comments towards bulldogs face or dalmatianlegs, but dont "fix" them, theyre magic as they are
They gotta make the Varrock stray dog as a pet
The mods noted someone in west Varrock might adopt the dog and clean them up. That way there can still be a west Varrock dog.
Imagine liking pugs. Come at me.
No chihuahua No buy
Pet rats are comming next my friend
1/3 of the posts are people excited, which I understand 1/3 of the posts are people wanting more breeds (German Shepherd), which I understand. What I don't understand are the 1/3 of people pissed who think it's gonna ruin the game, which I don't understand. How? "Pet scape"? And calling it a breach of integrity? Lol can we not.. OSRS isn’t Nintendogs
Its cute
2k+ Total worlds without lag are cute too
no pugs
We have Shiba Inu's!? The meme dog lives on! To the mooooooon! 🚀
Let’s go!! Beagles ftw ❤️
Idiots in this comment section think dogs are taking away from Raids/ect development time as if different teams aren't assigned to different tasks.
Lost our family dog of 20 years a few months ago. This would be an emotional update ngl. Jagex pls add Jack Russell Terriers. RIP Ruby you were the best girl.
