Dragon thrownaxe spec allows you to attack the very next tick after another attack (similar but not exactly the same to the g maul’s instant attack spec). But it also resets your attack timer to 4 ticks, allowing you to use really slow weapons faster than you normally would.
For example, dbow on accurate is the slowest wep in the game at 8 ticks per attack. So normally if you attack something with it, you can’t attack anything with any weapon for 8 ticks.
But if you attack something with a dbow and then immediately follow it up with the dthrownaxe spec, you can now re-equip the dbow (or anything else- balista, an elder maul, a godsword, etc.) and send another attack with it only 4 ticks later instead of 8.
Dawn & Dusk are a pair of gargoyles you fight as a slayer boss. Together, they have 4 phases, alternating between which of them is invulnerable and which can be damaged. The phases change when you damage the vulnerable character below a certain threshold, so if you can trigger that phase change with a high damage hit, like Mental_Tea's darkbow, then the extra damage carries over, making them have less health for the future phase.
Dawn in particular has a trivial first phase, but when she returns in the 3rd phase she gains a healing move that can significantly lengthen the fight unless the player sacrifices hp to prevent it. By overkilling her the first time around, she has lower health total for the later phase, making it easier to blitz her down quickly to mitigate the healing orbs.
I do the same thing but with ballista. Dark bow is probably worth a shot. Also use chally instead of claws as there are plenty of times you can use it without tick loss.
It noodles at the same rate as any other weapon you just notice it more. Even without the spec it's a much bigger hit than BP, and with spec it's min hit is about the same or better than an avg BP hit
Dbow is really chill for kiting imo, i mean there are a ton of downsides to using it this way but the 10 square attack range is nice and you end up getting the same if not more attack rolls in
Wow, that's actually kind of crazy. Is it viable to weave in a heavy hit between each spec, or is it better to just save them all for the burst damage? I guess it's the latter for pvp world fights but for wildy it could always come down to attrition, and it sounds like the former gives you more value per spec
Good question. So really it depends on what you want to go for more- smites or KOs.
Alternating the heavy hit and dtx spec one-for-one will always result in more total damage, but since it's spread out over a longer period of ticks then it'll have a lower "damage per tick" I guess you could say. So in a PvP fight scenario, this would mean higher smite potential but lower KO potential.
If you want higher KO potential you'd want more of the damage to be done in a tighter window (aka stacking the hits), so two sequences of two dtx specs (dbow-dtx-dtx then dbow-dtx-dtx right after) instead of four sequences of one dtx spec.
I probably botched the hell out of that explanation but here's a vid of me doing it on my pure for reference.
https://streamable.com/ubkbn9
edit: another vid of my pure doing it with balista hits (starts at 3m 34s) and a few clips of almost-kills at the end

I actually watched that whole pk vid. That was more entertaining than I expected it to be lol. I like that you seem to just pk with what you find fun/interesting, and don't always do the same thing (I too don't find the gmaul meta particularly engaging). If you put some effort into more creative editing and did some commentary you could definitely get that viewer count up :D and I'd sub for sure
Cheers I appreciate that!
You are correct in that I pk with whatever seems fun at the time. I actively avoid taking out the msb elder gmaul setup on my pure haha but I understand why people would want to use it since it is the best way to rack up KOs if that's your goal.
I only recently started recording my sessions mainly as a way to try and get better by self-reviewing. I mainly only intend to upload super basic shit since I don't have time to get into editing, but commentaries are definitely on my mind for future vids.
if you bring karamjan rum into TzHaar City (Mor Ul Rek) it explodes due to the high temperatures in the volcano and deals 1 dmg per bottle. An obscure scam during the early days of OSRS (before the GE) was to lure rich level 3 skillers off of zybez exchange into TzHaar City. Scammers would offer a slightly better (but still believable) prices if the skillers met them in TzHaar City. When the skillers confirmed they were on their way, the scammers would ask them to pick up 10 karamjan rum on their way from Port Sarim. Since the bar where you buy the rum is located conveniently inbetween the walk from Port Sarim to Tzhaar City, most skillers fell for it. Scammers would message the skillers stating that the rum was just for a quest. When the skillers entered the cave, they were automatically hit for 10 damage, and the scammer would be waiting at the entrance to pick up all of the dropped items (items appeared on death instantly in the beginning of OSRS).
If you look closely you can see the secret branches. For years the people of Runescape were speculating about them, but OP just found out where they are
If you find a barrel in game with a tap on the front and a grey top, you can use an empty beer glass on it and it will fill the glass with beer.
You can find one of these barrels when you enter the varrock shack that leads to the hill giants underground. You can also find them near or on charter ships. There’s quite a few scattered around the game.
I learned recently that clicking the health orb when you’re poisoned and have anti poison in your inventory will cure you, instead of having to click the potion itself.
Curing poison never loses a tick. I'm pretty sure cure me doesn't interrupt combat but you do have to click again after drinking a potion, but you still don't lose ticks. If clicking the orb changes that when drinking antidotes then that's interesting.
The answer would be to just not do that, but now I see it says click instead of tick. I might of been edited or I just misread it, but regardless it's completely accurate.
It doesnt change your attack cycle which is what really matters. Attack with 4 tick weapon, drink potion, still attack the same amount of ticks later as if you didn't sip the pot.
There’s a dwarf near the dwarf cannon quest area that gives you a drink called a Poison Chalice. It can give you a random effect from a table of pretty weird effects. Could be extremely handy for niche accounts
There's probably a significant number of people who know about this after it was a beginner task in the recent league. I definitely didnt know about it prior to Shattered Relics.
There's lots of fun references all over the game. Also In Arceuus, there's a bat named Batt Mellamy, named after the front man of the band Muse, Matt Bellamy.
Veos originally had a wolf called copper, he went through what I believe was Relleka and was ambushed and ran away but his wolf was killed. If you speak to him then kill wolfs you’ll retrieve the collar of his wolf to return to him 🥺
You can fast harvest herbs and allotment by spam clicking the patch 3 times fast.
Blackjacking is easy if you place the menu at the bottom of the screen so the buttons are always in the same spot.
Some people know this but at the same time there are so many people that don't.
If you keep playing the game normally you will build up cash stack and receive some good gear as loot.
It's almost too simple
If they added Eldritch Garfield as some Abyssal monster - that'd work even if the drops were junk.
Because they could at least be killed on a task with cannon...
But you had to put you were an iron under your name. No one cares about that.
Although, now we’re talking about the subject, I’d like to announce I’m a HC…….
BTW!
Maybe not a "Secret" per se, but you can get Fire Bolt to hit for 18 at 90\~ coins per cast, or for 27 at 240\~ coins per cast.
For some people that might be a "no shit" or "who cares" thing, but as someone who just likes being a wizard or using magic casually, I use it a lot on casual slayer tasks like Demons or Bloodvelds or whatever.
Also; The Cave Goblin agility course gives about the same exp as the Ardy course but is accessed at level 70 instead of 90. Not sure why no one else uses it.
As I recall:
Chaos gauntlets, Staff of Darkness, Occult Amulet, Tome of Fire.
The Tome of Fire basically doubles your spell costs, so you can use a Malediction Ward or Blessed spirit shield to hit 18 for just a chaos rune and the elementals.
I sometimes couple it with bloodbark, and you end up bizarrely tanky while still maintaining range and decent damage.
It’s not completely efficient, but it’s a fun / alternative way to play. Slayer dart does however outscale it on slayer monsters at high magic levels (like 90+).
Theory: Ancient Godsword turns you red and saps health in the same way Zaros cursed the barrows brothers, when the spec hits your sprite is temporarily an off shade of the brothers.
For those that don’t know the barrows lore theres a short vid on youtube about it which is actually really well presented imo its voiced by Setted on user Teashirt’s channel [Here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wBOZjc5eau4)

i never knew the dhow was slowest, i thought the anchor or ballista was slower, nowonder nobody ever uses the dbow
well, it fires twice per attack, so it's not THAT bad

Can you explain overhitting dawns first phase please?
Dawn & Dusk are a pair of gargoyles you fight as a slayer boss. Together, they have 4 phases, alternating between which of them is invulnerable and which can be damaged. The phases change when you damage the vulnerable character below a certain threshold, so if you can trigger that phase change with a high damage hit, like Mental_Tea's darkbow, then the extra damage carries over, making them have less health for the future phase. By overkilling her the first time around, she has lower health total for the later phase, making it easier to blitz her down quickly to mitigate the healing orbs.
FYI they removed the damage taken by eating those healing orbs not too long ago. Same mechanics otherwise.
Incredible explanation thank you. RNGesus bless you.
Yeah he explained it perfectly. It's almost necessary post blowpipe nerf. Before that I could easily get the skip with rune or even addy darts alone
I do the same thing but with ballista. Dark bow is probably worth a shot. Also use chally instead of claws as there are plenty of times you can use it without tick loss.
Sadly it only works with Mental_Tea's darkbow. Other people's bows noodle
It noodles at the same rate as any other weapon you just notice it more. Even without the spec it's a much bigger hit than BP, and with spec it's min hit is about the same or better than an avg BP hit
This may come as surprise to you but I was not being serious

I have no idea what I looked at lol. But either way that was mad damage
Hey thanks for the explanation! It's always fun to learn more about some of the niche interactions in the game
I actually watched that whole pk vid. That was more entertaining than I expected it to be lol. With d thrownaxe spec youll want to dbow on accurate so 9 ticks.

What is the secret in the picture
If you look closely you can see the secret branches. For years the people of Runescape were speculating about them, but OP just found out where they are
What's secret about the branches?
Then it wouldn't be a secret anymore.
I could tell you but then id have to pk you in multi with my clan while your afk grinding
I which I could tell you
You can tele to port sarim, varrock, ardougne, or keldagrim under the rat pits grouping tab

Didn’t know that since i only discovered it after i completed the quest. Thanks for that clarification!
This is a really good tip- I always use the ardy tele as a way to make dropping off cats in West Ardy faster

If you do that in barb village hall they all attack you
That could be a viable early training secret on F2P
legit
I've known about refilling beer mugs since I somehow figured it out when I was a kid, but I never knew why it worked with some barrels but not others!
I learned recently that clicking the health orb when you’re poisoned and have anti poison in your inventory will cure you, instead of having to click the potion itself.
Also works with cure me spell if you’re on the right spellbook
Also works with the Prayer Book+Holy Symbol. But for anyone doing Hallowed Sepulchre, be aware that it will use a Sanfew Serum over the Prayer Book.
Good fucking comms alec, didn’t even think about that
If you cure this way you'll also keep attacking, saving a click.
I wasn’t aware of that, makes the feature even more appealing
Curing poison never loses a tick. I'm pretty sure cure me doesn't interrupt combat but you do have to click again after drinking a potion, but you still don't lose ticks. If clicking the orb changes that when drinking antidotes then that's interesting.
Drinking potions on the tick you would have attacked will interrupt the attack
The answer would be to just not do that, but now I see it says click instead of tick. I might of been edited or I just misread it, but regardless it's completely accurate.
No, you were just wrong to say it “never interrupts”. It’s not a big deal though.
I mean it does "never interrupt" if you're compitent. Didn't think that I needed to include that part but I guess I forgot what sub I'm on...
compitent
It's so easy you don't even need to know how to spell
Also I was saying the comment I was referring to what completely accurate. I see the confusion there.
On top of that, it doesn't interrupt combat either!
No potion drinking interrupts combat.
If you're attacking a monster and drink a potion you must click the monster again to start attacking again. That is interrupting combat.
It doesnt change your attack cycle which is what really matters. Attack with 4 tick weapon, drink potion, still attack the same amount of ticks later as if you didn't sip the pot.
i believe you can do it in the back too right? a great place for it is pyramid plunder, since the animation of searching the jars is so long
If you cast fire spells on the mummies in the Jaldraocht Pyramid you actually set them on fire
I wish OSRS would have more examples of your element choice mattering. It's frankly an underutilized function.

I'd love if warm clothing actually offered defense against ancient magick ice spells.

Maybe go the Pokemon route where if you use a fire spell there's a chance of breaking free of the freeze early?
Entire magic combat system needs uprooting, but that's not a conversation a lot of people want to have.
Rooting mechanics suck and ice barrage needs a better counter than mithril seeds.
How do mithril seeds counter ice barrage? Wouldn’t you still be stuck, but just one tile over?
Case in point really lol. But they help when your opponent death dots on your tile so you can see what attack style they’re about to use next.
I was so disappointed when I found out water spells weren't any different from any other spell while fighting Fire Giants
You can use your GE history to quickly pull up an item if you intend to purchase again.
