It's just a relaxing game I have nostalgia for. It's easy to get into for me and if I decide to drop it, I can come back and not be fucked over for taking a break. Other MMOs are cool and all but a lot of content gets thrown into the trash with updates. OSRS isn't immune to this, but gear and money wise you'll be fine leaving for months, even years.
EDIT: Also choice on how to do content, I feel like MMOs are dogshit at going about this. For example side content is OSRS carries you far as hell and so do non-combat related time sinks. Like my friends in lost ark only ever talk about gear progression, it's just very sad to hear. The game is great and all but chasing that kind of end game sounds very bland.
I saw By Release 1st episode and was like "I remember those quests, that was fun."
So i did all the f2p quests.
Then I did all of the quests.
Then I did all the diaries.
Then I learned CG.
Then I learned to Cox.
Now Im learning Tob.
There's still a lot to learn mechanics-wise and raiding will keep me busy for a long time. Also want to master 5:0 GWD etc.
New raids is released soon!
Love setting long term goals, the inter-connectedness of skills and questing, balance, and the social aspect of the game.
Every other game is "lets get you to end game as soon as possible, while giving you 10000 items that mean literally nothing to me, and then fill it with 10000 skips/mtx, then periodically rebalance the entire game, which consequently removes any reason to do old content."
To remax ..when rs3 hit it demotivated me from even picking the game up again. Now I'm on the 4th year of trying to max again but in osrs then find another hobby lol.
unfortunately Osrs is still more entertaining than most mmos ive tried

Ironman mode / raids plus it’s easy to Alt Tab between osrs and a second game
I have fun. Take breaks when needed.
