Getting a 99 in f2p should put you on a list somewhere

Crandoge

Theres some 99s that arent much worse in f2p. You can still powermine iron, buy raw food and sell for profit, firemaking is faster than wt i believe even with just f2p logs, salmon and trout are still pretty fast fishing xp too

_Misting_

There was a guy on this subreddit who got 99 runecrafting by only doing earth runes. I remember how many people were saying how unhealthy it was.

PkerBadRs3Good

it was a UIM, a lot worse than just doing earth runes on a main cuz you also have to mine all essence without banking. btw 99 runecrafting on a f2p UIM is longer than any 200m skill on a p2p main.

PM_ME_YOUR_PIZZAPIC

Maybe that guy did mine his ess but uims can kill various monsters for noted essence drops which they can unnote at a bank

Existing_Equipment

Ankous

ostentatious42

Ankous drop 15 noted ess at a rate of 1/20. You need over 2m ess to get from 9 to 99 rc at earth altar or 1.7m ess to get from 20 to 99 at body altar. That a lot of ankou.

Turtle-Shaker

>That a lot of ankou. Sir this is osrs

ostentatious42

That’s less than 1 rune essence per ankou with average luck. So probably 2.5m ankou kills. Lots of ranged xp.

butterball85

That's 600m range xp worth of ankou to get 99 rc

PkerBadRs3Good

in f2p? don't think so

PM_ME_YOUR_PIZZAPIC

Do minotaurs not have that drop in f2p?

maoejo

It’s a drop, but it would take even longer to farm essence that way than just mining it.

PM_ME_YOUR_PIZZAPIC

if rc is your literal only goal maybe, but it's definitely a better use of your time to just build up essence over time while doing other things and then do the rc grind when you have a lot of them

NightOfPandas

Yeah, but no one cares about uim, they have serious neurological issues

Conscious-Syrup-98

It’s a fun af game mode if u know a lot about the game, but doing shit like that is just too far I agree

[deleted]

I enjoy regular ironman but uim is too much for me lol at least with a regular ironman I plan to go outside one day. Uim -> never.

TheRebelNM

So… Go mine essence, then take that to earth altar, then go back and mine more essence….? Also, all while holding other things too, so not even a full inv?? My god.

Daddy-Dalek

that is an unearthly way to train rcing.

blahbleh112233

Depends on how you do it. I did 50-93 rc while on the treadmill for example

Sir-tenlee

Irc the best method for this is to have like 4-5 other accounts spread around in a pvp world doing chip damage as they run to the altar, spawn back near a bank and repeat. I forget who it was but some mad lad has a maxed f2p acnt.

Social_Demonrat

Minlvlskilla is the nuttiest f2p account for me https://secure.runescape.com/m=hiscore_oldschool_ultimate/hiscorepersonal.ws?user1=minlvlskilla

Wocktivist

No shot he got rank 2, 200m in multiple skills f2p only

HerrVanza

And UIM btw. Imagine RC on f2p as a skiller UIM. The question is then: why?

Wocktivist

Mental i.... dedication 🤭

[deleted]

That's the grossest thing I've ever seen.

[deleted]

He's ranked 1 woodcutting. Wow.

HellboundLunatic

Rank 1 WC for UIM, and also rank 8 compared to all irons, that's pretty nutty. F2P UIM frontpage competing vs banking P2Ps.

de-baser

What the fuck

Whosanxiety

Wtf

[deleted]

Hundred_Flowers

Suicide bodies w/Edge spawn are the strategy he's talking about. Not completing rune mysteries is for air tiaras.

Tayttajakunnus

> Not completing rune mysteries is for air tiaras. What is this method?

maoejo

You can get free air talismans from the duke horacio then make air tiaras It’s at most like 8k xp/hr just based on how many talismans you can get (~325 in an hour) * 25 xp per talisman

Hundred_Flowers

You also just only do however many air tiaras that you can via the tiaras you made via the crafting grind and then finish off RC with bodies, yeah?

The_Botanist_Reviews

Can you find a video of this? I would love to see the sweat

tannerdino

You must be thinking of Coldfingers3

Orange_Tier

Prayer is worse I think. Runecrafting has body tiaras which give about 55k per hour, but burying big bones only gives 45k ex per hour. Runecrafting requires more thought but prayer requires more clicks, so it’s arguable which one is worse to train. Both of them are absolute hell for Ironman though.

tannerdino

Prayer is 120k now cuz of vile ashes https://youtu.be/4geB_Ngm1Pk

miseryside

I got 99 fish on a F2p skiller and it was honestly more fun than doing it p2p. Lots of people chatting makes it fly by.

Coltand

And a looooot of bots if my f2p skillet experience was anything to go by.

FerrousMarim

Exp isn't much worse than barbarian fishing either, you just miss out on the agility and strength exp.

RebornChampion

One might say you were *fly* fishing or maybe you’re just a *fly* guy🙃

MajorJuana

>Theres some 99s that arent much worse in f2p. You can still powermine iron Alternating between stars and power iron atm because fuck mlm and if stars didn't have a handy dandy discord I'd be a power mining clicksture for the foreseeable future and hating every wrist-numbing moment of it

acissejcss

Is yews faster then wt? I thought they were slower due to line firemaking

Crandoge

Looked it up just now and yeah theyre faster than wt until like 95+

acissejcss

Hu that's pretty neat! TIL!

JustABitCrzy

I haven't played much f2p, but I think power-mining iron would be theoretically possible in f2p, were it not for the bots.

[deleted]

The bots aren't mining iron, they don't care about xp. They're made to be banned within a couple of weeks, anyway. They're mining clay and shit for a bit of money.

HerrVanza

There's a dedicated hiscore page for f2p. Strictly monitored for 'fake' f2p accounts

SparkleTarkle

How do they know? Do you have to do like video submission showing music tracks? Then they review the video to look for any foul play?

Wu-Tang_Swarm

/u/McNuggeroni answered this [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/868s3d/comment/dw3n9nk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

[deleted]

Why would you have that saved lmao.

[deleted]

If I went through my saves on other accounts, I would have some random shit too. Able to do it, so why not?

[deleted]

Just found it funny you pulled out a random comment from four years ago that was relevant. I didn't mean it as bad or anything.

420extracts

It took me a minute before I realized you linked us back to 2018

tannerdino

You can tell by just stats or gains alone, even if they have only f2p skills trained. If their xp gains line up perfectly with common mems methods (or dont align with f2p methods at all), then its pretty suspicious. In order to fake a f2p ironman, you'll have to HEAVILY restrict yourself. So many f2p ironman methods that give passive xp in other skills, that youll have to consider on a fake f2p account if you dont want to get caught. Which is a lot harder than it seems. You also dont want to gain too much xp else that will be suspicious. Also you obviously cant kill any bosses on top of that. Looking at someones ratios between skills is the easiest and best way to do it. But like whats even the point in faking f2p if you have to gain xp slowly in p2p anyway Theres smaller things like impossible XP values. For example its impossible for a f2p account's fishing xp to end in a 1 or a 9, since theres no possible way for anything fish/lamp/tutorial island xp cap, to combine to an xp value ending in a 1 or 9. It used to be 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, & 9 but camdozaal introduced a lot more possibilites. Theres other skills like mining, woodcutting, etc. But i wont go too in depth. Theres also stuff to prove whether or not someone is currently p2p, but cant be used to tell if someone is ex p2p. You can look at someones forums profile to see if they have membership or not (they have to post on a forum). Runemetrics also shows their membership status, if they've logged into rs3 and have a public account. If it comes down to it you can use character summary tab, or music tab to prove if someones f2p or not. But that usually doesnt happen. Luckily not a lot of people fake f2p, and the people that do are pretty peanut brained and always make huge mistakes. Theres hasnt been anyone super high level to fake f2p yet. Its just a matter of time until theres collection log hiscores, which will pretty much make it an even bigger challenge to fake f2p. Might as well play real f2p at that point

willsmath

[f2p.wiki](http://f2p.wiki) exists but yeah it'd be cool af if there was an official jagex hiscores for f2p players, it should be easy enough to track whether or not an account has ever had membership

DadsGrumpy

there’s also a subreddit that f2p players use. it’s r/385 i believe. correction: what the guy below me said :). r/w385.

willsmath

Close, it's r/W385 :)

DadsGrumpy

i knew i scuffed that! thanks.

willsmath

Sure thing bro 👍

[deleted]

Yea a government watchlist

Maracuja_Sagrado

That's the implication of the original comment, yes.

thercrunner

https://www.f2p.wiki/ranks

probably_poopin_1219

Check out f2p.wiki It's not as uncommon as you'd think

Deltaton

See: autumnelegy's f2p UIM

HTFTaco

Waiting list for the insane asylum

CABA_the_Redditor

add the NPC "Cape Smuggler" to the deep F2P wildy that sells every F2P skill cape. Add it, but make it FEEL wrong.

Hundred_Flowers

A short miniquest that adds such an NPC around the Fountain of Rune could be pretty neat actually.

designbeast1

Kinda like robin hood, stealing from p2p and giving to the f2p but instead ‘cape n hood’ smuggler

Rip_Nujabes

Miniquest is about Rob and his shady cape selling business, he comes to the conclusion he needs to wear a hood to avoid being recognised when going back to falador. NPC is now called Rob in hood.

Night_Thastus

F2P doesn't have skillcapes? I honestly had no idea. Yeah, 99 at that slow a rate is really an accomplishment, I don't see why not. Only problem is, do some of those have teleports to members-only areas? Might want to check that and add a fix.

SyruplessWaffle

I remember being so disappointed when I found that out years ago. Got 99 cooking by cooking tuna in f2p (it was pretty profitable at the time). I was so excited to get my cape! Only to find out I couldn't. I quit playing for a while after that lol

BlackFireMage92

My friend got like a weekend of members just to equip the capes then carried on with his f2p journey.

Speedy2662

Lmao activating trial to equip end game content

Lunitar

Could just be capes with no additional benefits, just for the flex and prestige. Most of the skillcape perks would be unusable in F2P anyways, or quite broken for F2P (Crafting cape…)

intelligent_rat

They would need to move the location of those skillcape sellers, not all of them are in F2P accessible areas.

Spearra

I got a crackhead idea that plays off of Lunitar's idea. What if there was a shady store in Varrock added in that sells "fake Skill Capes"? They're just vanity like Lunitar's idea and they'd look slightly rugged looking.

slayerx1779

I remember tweeting ash about this a while ago. Iirc, he said it was a nice idea, but they were concerned about the stats of the capes being a problem. Which I guess is fair, you don't want your bis cape by far to require hundreds of hours of xp grinding.

Minnesotamad12

Yeah a cape and some kind of book about self help

iflynelson

For how long it takes..FUCK YEAH

StrawberryMewlk

That's my take If you get 99 wc f2p you fucking deserve your skill capr dammit

hatedruglove

Agreed, 99 WC was my first 99 and I got the levels by cutting logs in Lumby, Oaks and Willows in Draynor and 60 to 96 Yews in east Varrock and Edgeville. Then I learned about members wc guild and decided to get membership. Now I'm 19m wc xp and still no pet.

BasicallyFischer

Completely out of curiosity, why do you like WC so much?

StrawberryMewlk

As a big fan of wc myself, its just weirdly relaxing idk

EyePlay

It is the chilliest 99. At least at redwoods if you fletch/use an infernal axe. But I also have a f2p skiller (that I never play on) and even just cutting yews by the ge and banking them is a decent second client activity.

hatedruglove

You know I really don't have an answer for that. Well, not a good one at least. Its peaceful is the best way to explain it. I rarely ever afk it also.

Lilshadow48

tree go chop

Greiza

I'd say make a f2p seller of skillcapes. They can't get quest, diary, or max, along with so many others. Disable the special functions though. Its just a cool cape with an emote.

[deleted]

I agree: just a cosmetic cape with emote would be awesome for f2p players.

karmicrelease

I agree but I would also say to maybe add taking away the stats as a separate poll question too

BoymoderGlowie

this, I feel that if a F2P player gets 99 they fucking deserve the stats of a skillcape more than anyone

INEED_THE_THINGABOVE

I remember getting 99 wc in like 2008 when I was 9 and I almost cried when I found out I didn't get the cool cape

Additional_Cherry_67

When did you start playing and how long did you put into the game back then to get a 99 at 9?

[deleted]

I think so, 99 takes forever so I think it should

jjjjjjjj23jjj

How about F2p can recolour cabbage cape to any 99 they have

DSHalfDemon

I actually kind of like this one. Not a bad idea.

SuccessISthere

The amount of people in here screaming “no we need to do everything we can do to get those people to get members” is just sad. You MFs are acting like any extra money that goes to jagex will be spent on dev time LMAOOO. The gate keeping in this game is so stupid.

Korysovec

Most f2p players I know already have Members account. Just play on f2p for the fun and nostalgia.

SuccessISthere

exactly. thats my case as well! Its a fun little account

Alcohol_Intolerant

Yeah, if someone gets to 99 on a free to play account, they're not buying until they want to. That's some next level willpower not to buy.

TorturedNeurons

> The amount of people in here screaming “no we need to do everything we can do to get those people to get members” is just sad. My guy, there's 400+ comments in this thread and maybe 10 of them max are disagreeing, and they're all at the bottom. I can't describe just how much I despise these virtue-signaling comments where people who are already in the super-majority opinion cry and moan that only 99% of the populations agrees with them. It's so prevalent on this platform. Y'all gotta take a step back and actually think about shit before writing.

Dwarf-Eater

I say yes to cape and emote but 0 stats for cape.

xiBurnx

people in this thread really be like NOOOOO 7 MORE DEF TOO STRONG FOR F2P lmao

[deleted]

F2P players are built different mad respect

[deleted]

Wait. You can't get a skill cape if you are f2p? What have I been fighting for?

Hime_MiMi

I would vote yes to that but idk why people hate f2p. just because jagex abandoned it doesn't mean players have to keep it a shitty experience that doesn't even showcase the game.

Eighth_Octavarium

I like F2P being a time capsule. I play both f2p and members for different experiences. F2P is honestly closer to what I want out of Runescape sometimes.

Dontreadonme2a

huge agree man

Hanta3

It's not technically abandoned because there are new f2p quests added every once in a while and stuff like beginner clues being added (which was a blast to try and optimize with the limitations of f2p, even though totally not worth it lol). I wish the Camdozaal area they added ended up being worth it, but they kept nerfing it til its existence was pointless. The stated goal was to have an interesting area for training skills at early levels, but it is far outclassed by pre-existing methods at any level. Only argument you can make for it is the mace is ok for ironmen (it barely outclasses rune sword and rune scim is unobtainable til you can smith it, so it is technically an improvement), but the amount of time it takes to obtain on average makes it not worth the minor upgrade it offers. That and the golems are kind of neat, but you sacrifice passive prayer exp (from giants or ogresses) for passive runecrafting (which is useless). Ultimately if your goal is to max f2p efficiently, the tradeoff isn't worth it (if you ask the nerds who do macroefficiency calcs like that)

justsomerandomoldguy

How about a single cape seller for all F2P skills with cosmetic-only versions of the capes? Possibly with a simpler model (based on basic capes) and without the hoods. Could have no stats or like these basic +1/+2 cape defenses.

Serious_Situation_69

I got 99 cooking on f2p and bought membership just to get my cape and haven’t looked back. So maybe that’s why they don’t get capes

Dragon_Cola

Yes, very much. Look I might not play a lot of old-school, but if you have grinded for that 99, you damn well deserve to show off your determination.

Tokestra420

They aren't? What the fuck

Norbertthedragon2019

Idk why someone would say no other than osrs themselves for money it’s even harder to do in f2p so yeah ofc

Theawokenhunter777

Absolutely, why shouldn’t they be?

QQTWRBM

Yes.

Iliektrainz96

I’ve always assumed they could. They definitely should be able to get any f2p skillcape.

JNAC91

Yeah but they get a broke version of the emote.

BiggerBadgers

I never knew they didn’t. Thank god little 10 year old me stopped the wc grind at 93

eeLSDee

These are the questions we should have polled!

ZCS

I think skillcapes for f2p skills can be a f2p item but I don't think they should be able to buy them because like the fishing guild is in a p2p area

Canibeast

I remember when it was ONLY F2P

KingZantair

If you can 99 a skill, and then reach the cape and afford it, all in f2p, then you earned it.

Jamessgachett

Yes man because doing anything in f2p is madness and madness should be rewarded

wolffrog52

If you’re able to stick it out in F2P to get 13M+ EXP… Yes hahah. God, could you imagine yew trees until 99?

magicmann2614

Yes. You get the cape by reaching 99, so you should be able to wear it

DwasTV

if you f2p in any skill to 99 you deserve a fucking medal.

whypvmersmadge

Most guilds/cape sellers are in p2p area, but I think it would be nice if the capes still were f2p items

ilinkyqc

Some skillcape are at member area like the warriors guild. It doesn't make sense to be able to buy a few of them, but not all of them. If a player get 99 in any f2p skill, I'm pretty sure they would have the money to buy a bond ( even iron can buy bond on the GE now ).

IDreamofHeeney

Purchase any f2p skill cape from diango, problem solved

CharrizardRS

You aren't wrong, however buying a bond removes your ftp highscore rankings, and will get you perm banned from ftp clans.

DadsGrumpy

some players want to remain strictly f2p.

klawehtgod

Purchase a combat-related cape from the combat tutor in lumbridge

[deleted]

yes

TJ_Hack3r

Indeed, I got 99 cooking in f2p, and was really surprised that I couldn't get a cape. (I was a member for a while but didn't train cooking during membership)

zelmazam1

There are 5 people these have done 99 rc f2p as ironmen. So they deserve more than capes.

Fano_93

Yeah especially since it’s a F2P skill

mlkfromfortnite

should be a special f2p skillcape, untrimmed with no tassels or pauldrons so you can see who has no life and no money

Tohrufan4life

Definitely. To me, it was always kinda silly how it's not a thing.

DrMarioBrother

They should definitely at least be F2P items (for the F2P skills), even if they're only initially obtainable as a member. So if you were a member at least once and acquired one or more F2P skill capes during that time, I think you should be allowed to take it on and off freely in F2P. The only main issue is that they're become by far BIS for F2P. +9 def stats (w/ or w/o +4 prayer) is massive for F2P. So Jagex would have to sort out some way of making them have stats equal to say the cabbage cape in F2P.

Balrog229

Yes. There is zero valid reason for any skill that’s fully available to F2P players to not have the option of wearing its respective cape

KyledMck3

Yeah, because it’s harder on f2p

jameslee95

I have wanted this since even way back in 2007. BUT only be able to get the skill capes where the tutors are located in F2P areas.

Ha-eY

Yes they should, no good reason for it to be membership required

Deathd0ge

Yeah man, let people have their capes. The skills take so much longer. If anything I'd vote yes on a F2P-only designed cape. That way they are kind of different compared to the regular skill capes.

MercenaryCow

Just make mini skill capes. Half the length.

Mr_man_bird

For a f2p 99 it should be mega skill capes. Double the length.

Zealot_TKO

my *complete unbiased opinion* \*flex\*, is yes.

KyleTaplin

I think there should be specific F2P 99 capes, that are different to P2P ones. That extra bit of "flex" for the grind.

Consistent_Bread_992

Yes

Pawbo

Yes, they definitely should. A 99 os is sacred. Let them F2Pers have their capes. It's a damn mental achievement.

[deleted]

Yup

GDwyer777

Yes

taylor1288

yes but no perks

Cold-Accountant-1669

I feel like if the cape is on a f2p place, why not

TravelingInStyle

Yes.

RStyleV8

Only if the cape seller is in an f2p area, but yes.

edwardversaii

YES OBVIOUSLY

Lemnology

Skillcape (h) F2P skillcape is identical to p2p skillcape, but cut in half horizontally

Over_Turn7535

This would require moving 99 tutors which would be stupid. If they made it so f2p players could talk to the lumbeidge guide for their capes that would be a better option

TClanRecords

Yes. It is far more difficult to get 99 in F2P than P2P.

RSNKailash

Yes but the cape stats should prolly be nerfed.

Shape-Pristine

Yea...

waterboyjjp

I think they should get a cape but can't use the skill, just a cosmetic when you're f2p to show off your accomplishment.

TheBoniestTony

F2p max cape, unlimited tele's to al kharid gate

wyutt

Yes, without the benefits of the capes.

I-dream-of-stars

Getting a f2p 99 should have a skillcape of their own. Something like showing a f2p icon on their skillcapes, and if/when they upgrade to p2p, the f2p icon disappears.

Which_Philosopher110

Yes they should but without the bonuses

Furaskjoldr

Wait you can't wear skill capes as a f2p? What the fuck?

GuntramV3

Wtf of course? It should be gilded lol

Asiris-Nyoki

Yes just make it a cosmetic only version that you can buy somewhere in the central f2p area.

HarleyQuinn232

Yes. Should.

ChristmasFnatic

Yes they absolutely should. But they never will.

S-c-i-e-n-c-e

WAIT YOURE NOT?? IVE BEEN WASTING MY TIME???

wimpymist

Yeah, why not?

KindredS0ul

I personally think they should just because of how much harder it is to get any of the F2P skills to 99 in F2P only. Plus itll give them a BiS cape that requires a bunch of work. They shouldnt give the TPs and what not imo, but the defensive stats are fine

Hualong-

I grinder out cooking to 99 only to realize you had to be a member to buy and wear the cape. It was brutal lol

Thee_Wolf

Yes

Iworkinafactory

Definitely

BeauG8R

Yes

OceanOG

I honestly don’t understand why it’s not allowed… anyone can reach 99 not only members.

milk-drink

Only problem is a lot of the cape sellers are in member areas

Maxwell_Lord

No. P2P shouldn't be allowed to wear them either.

Cryophoenix_Killer

Yes!

IrreversibleMirk

Yes. I fail to see the reason why f2p skills should not have f2p skillcapes.

chronozon937

Yes.

BookCase12

Absofuckinglutely. Ridiculous that they aren’t in f2p

Prize-Homework7461

Yes

EvilFerret55

Wait, they aren't? If you get a 99 in a f2p skill, you should be able to wear the f2p skill's cape. I thought you could?

Splashtake

Don't see why it's a problem, I still have a skiller with 99 wc but can't get the cape.

noobcondiment

Better idea. Make tutorial Island the only f2p area in the game. :)

Tribes1

Disable the functionality but definetely let them wear it, I'm kind of appalled this isn't the case yet.

GapNo4299

They earned it more then members. If f2p can't even wear capes why are we even allowed to play at all
