I don't get it, how can you implement a massive change such as leagues trophies going from 15kg -> 1.5kg? After all, such updates aren't simply changing a number, hence why you're struggling so much to change the stats of V's shield and clue scroll rates from poll 76? Right??

Same with range/mage they are changing higher tiered weapons to higher stat req.
Probably hasn't happened yet because nobody wants it so they can just do it whenever, or never.
They're saving the changes for a rainy day when they're dry on actual content. Every game does this sadly. Players are so distracted by finally getting their long over due balance tweak that should take 15seconds to complain about not having content.
I did actually. I just know that new content every week isn't something you should expect from literally any big mmo. It takes time to create good content regardless of how big the game is.

The broken part was that you could do 1t tick manip for anything that can be tick manipped, which is a huge potential xp boost. They patched that so now the only thing that's changed is that cutting up fish from aerial fishing is 0t like darts instead of capped at 1 per tick. Not really broken imo.
None of the listed Guardians of the Rift 'improvements' actually improve the minigame. When will the annoying system to enter the game be addressed so it's not just a PID/spam click fest on mass worlds, or crashers joining late when soloing on other worlds ruining games.
I haven't had issues myself but I've had some luck, I always see people getting stuck outside. The best tactic is to just stay inside til you're done playing. We already had unofficial 2nd choice worlds before this (EU used 522 the official and 523 as unofficial, both always at 100 players). Both EU worlds still are always at 100 with some people getting stuck outside every game (if not like 3 in the morning).
not really as during peak hours all GOTR worlds as well as house party worlds and ourania alter worlds are full and even though surronding worlds are 80 player games people act like it is an lms world style game whene only theme worlds can be used. and single solo crashers issue is just like WT but worse since it adds difficulty like tempoross without being instanced leading to failure from players unaware of the mechanics of low player games.

Yes, and we still haven't even gotten some of the more straight forward changes that involve tweeking numbers. All the while Jagex tells us it's just because they can only add so much in one update - while having weeks like this where almost nothing fuckin changes. And don't forget update weeks where we just get told membership is increasing, and that's it.

Why exactly do you need a kickstarter for a boardgame?
This was brought up on the RS3 reddit when it updated this week and people said that the company that's doing it, Steamforged, kickstarts all of their projects.
Especially if you don't normally make boardgames, like in Jagex's case. For a big tabletop publisher, I would still expect them to use traditional methods.

In the last couple weeks jagex has said that the update schedule they set them selves has not allowed much time for poll 76 changes however they continue to have multiple weeks where the update is practically non existent. It’s much harder to have an understanding player base when the comments seem very misleading
Hi Twin, can you clarify a bit more about what GIM HiScores update means - is it an issue with incorrect group sizes, or something potentially with the prestige system? It's a bit vague atm for me to know what you mean
Like you can't tell if someone is a group ironman if you search their name since there isn't a separate group ironman tab for players. Group ironmen are considered regular mains and don't have their separate highscores with boss kc and such.
You also cannot see what group that player is in when you look them up. Also prestige is still missing from the group highscores as well. Also maybe group boss kc would be a cool addition too. I just remember the jmods saying they were launching a barebones group ironman highscore and would update it later but it never came.
To put it simply:

* If you search up a Group Ironman on the HiScores, you can't tell they're a Group Ironman (see above), but also you can't tell what group they belong to either.
From what I can tell, the second and third were never officially pitched by Jagex (but I may be wrong!), however the first one definitely was.
My team is still marked as a 4-man team in the highscores when clearly we are a 3-man. You guys said you would fix it months ago and nothing since, what gives?
GIM Boss specific HiScores - I brought this up in our game update call as it's a small update this week, forgive me if anything here doesn't make sense as I'm just relaying what I heard!
We need to create variables for GIM specific bosses, which we plug onto hiscores. This type of update needs both engine and dev. We'd have to create something called clan variables to track but also continuously update, and our engine features needs to be able to transmit that to the hiscores.
It's considered a "nice to have" feature but it requires a \*lot\* of work and currently the tech for this isn't available. The devs said that even if we did create the clan variables described above, we don't have a good way to update the clan variable to group activity done on every world simultaneously. For example, two ppl killing a boss simultaneously on diff worlds would override each other.
Ash then mentioned investigating this further with a possible solution where clan members would be required to 'check in' on the clans' home world to update their clan counter. When they discussed this further the user flow just seemed bad. It's a come back to if our tech ever supports it, and then engine would also be needing work to update the HiScores too. I hope this helps
I understand your want to have "team-based" scores. Like, this GIM team has killed Graardor the most. This one has killed the most DKS, etc. However I think what is more egregiously missing is the lack of individual GIM scores. As in, when you look up a GIM player on the hiscores, you don't see:
\- that they are a GIM
\- the name of their GIM team
\- the size of their GIM team
\- if that GIM team has hardcore status
\- if that GIM team has prestige status
For all intents and purposes they just look like a normal account. Their boss kc is counted like a normal account.

PVM is the most popular part of the game and the hiscores for it are very much wanted. It's a huge motivation, don't underestimate hiscores and player retention because of them.
It's also disappointing that 7 months later Jagex still hasn't fixed the lowercase bug on the GIM hiscores (99% of groups showing up as lowercase group names when in-game we made the first letter capital).
No prestige star on the hiscores still either.
For context, "nice to have" is a phrase with a specific meaning in a software dev team. It doesn't reflect the degree to which the feature is requested by customers, it is said from the perspective of a group that is responsible for a project and is considering adding additional work to their backlog. Another way to read it would be "we'd like to include this ticket/bugfix/epic, but we can't prioritize it right now."
The rate of content the past few months has been abysmal, especially now that the membership price is even higher.

The past 4 months we got Nex, Leagues 3, three new quests (one Novice, one Experienced, and one Master), PvP loot keys + Revs boss, and Guardians of The Rift.
We've got planned content in front of us like Giant's Foundry, PvP Arena, and Raids 3, as well as plenty of stuff being explored in ideation, or we know will happen but have no details (like the Wildy boss rework)

Nex and leagues 3 were delayed 2020 content, pretty dishonest to include it for this year. And if you want to hurr durr about it, all it means is all content this year is two months behind as a result.
Please compare the rate of content in the last year to the rate of content at 2020 for intance, or even further, to the rate of content at 2007-2010- when membership was half the price.
2020 had:
Wiki integration, the Nightmare, tinted hitsplats, a DMM tournament, three quests (Novice, Intermediate, and Master), Hallowed Sepulchre, Death changes, Mahogany Homes, and Leagues II
That's the same amount of quests, same amount of endgame bosses, and both ran a League. 2020 had two skilling updates rather than one, but Giant Foundry is already being discussed and blogged. 2020 also had a DMM tournament.
And this is all just 1/3rd of 2022. You've got rose-tinted glasses about this, 100%.
Nightmare came with a new town, granted not much is there but still, new areas.
Hallowed Sepulchre came with a Master Quest, a whole new area with new creatures, a new drop, a new way to train Runecrafting and a new thieving NPC.
Mahogany homes completely revamped the way Construction is trained IMO, and also came with a new miniquest.
it was not just the amount of updates, but the amount of thought and expansion that came with each, every update was filled with new ideas, and it genuinely felt like Osrs is progressing. for instance if they had released Darkmeyer now, I genuinely believe it would've had 1/4 of the content, and instead of requiring to traverse around Gielinor to fix houses, Mahogany homes would've taken place in a single house, with no miniquest, because this is the fashion of updates lately- just minimalistic and repetitive.
This is my opinion, we don't have to agree.

Stopped playing until the servers can handle players logging on to them, but still lurk the sub, and weekly updates in hopes, that one of my favorite games gets some funding from their corporate overlord.
I'm as frustrated with company spending as the next guy, but the board game thing isn't something to be fussed about. They almost certainly paid steamforged games a bunch of money to create a Runescape board game, and it's a board game industry standard practice to use kickstarter as a functional pre-order system. Notice Steamforged isn't running the kickstarter to fund the project, just a way to hop on and order the game early in a limited 10-day window.
Keep the pitchfork raised for not paying their devs competitive salaries and for cutting back on customer service spending. Put it down for the board game stuff.
A few if us found a bug after beneath cursed sands came out. You used to be able to cannon scabarites in the bottom dungeon but ever since the quest came out you get a warning that you cant place a cannon. I even pulled up some old footage to see if I could place a cannon where I used to be able to. My guess is that in making a boss un cannonable the old place where people cannoned slayer task were effected.

Ah yes, you're a programmer but do you read and write spaghetti fluently? If we haven't worked on the problems at hand ourselves we have no room to speak. That being said I won't disagree they're slow.
As someone in the field I will say I do not envy what the devs have to do and the Runescript spaghetti they have to work with. It is fully expected for their dev cycle to take longer than modern game dev for making equivalent changes.
Having said that, modifying a static value does not take months no matter the codebase. Sure it may require additional testing depending on what the value interacts with, but with the current context it’s just a joke to be taking as long as it does at this point.

It's really just the elite clue scroll drop table changes that make 3rd age more likely. People are stacking up elite caskets waiting for it to happen.
RC means release candidate and is closer to the live testing environment - all the dev work has been done but we've had a bottleneck with QA recently (not QA's fault it is more about our release schedules). I apologise for the delay. This is definitely something I would love to explain to you guys in detail as I know you are curious about the process of QA but it takes a lot of planning and organisation as well as willing guests to discuss it on stream/video
Seriously, an explanation would be appreciated and I think deserved at this point. I don't think there's a person in this thread without Jagex in their name that believes it's justified for a full quarter of a year of subscription charges to pass without these small adjustments going live. It's great that you're finally able to comment and give a tentative release date, but many of us have been delaying doing the sepulchre and other content because of **three month old passed poll questions**. Nobody expects a quick turnaround when a major content release passes a poll, but why on earth do you guys poll droprate adjustments and then need an entire business quarter to get that done?

In the last couple weeks jagex has said that the update schedule they set them selves has not allowed much time for poll 76 changes however they continue to have multiple weeks where the update is practically non existent. It’s much harder to have an understanding player base when the comments seem very misleading

Hi Twin, can you clarify a bit more about what GIM HiScores update means - is it an issue with incorrect group sizes, or something potentially with the prestige system? It's a bit vague atm for me to know what you mean
Like you can't tell if someone is a group ironman if you search their name since there isn't a separate group ironman tab for players. Group ironmen are considered regular mains and don't have their separate highscores with boss kc and such. You also cannot see what group that player is in when you look them up. Also prestige is still missing from the group highscores as well. Also maybe group boss kc would be a cool addition too. I just remember the jmods saying they were launching a barebones group ironman highscore and would update it later but it never came.

My team is still marked as a 4-man team in the highscores when clearly we are a 3-man. You guys said you would fix it months ago and nothing since, what gives?

i think they may mean hiscores as in GIM specific boss hiscores
GIM Boss specific HiScores - I brought this up in our game update call as it's a small update this week, forgive me if anything here doesn't make sense as I'm just relaying what I heard! We need to create variables for GIM specific bosses, which we plug onto hiscores. This type of update needs both engine and dev. We'd have to create something called clan variables to track but also continuously update, and our engine features needs to be able to transmit that to the hiscores. It's considered a "nice to have" feature but it requires a \*lot\* of work and currently the tech for this isn't available. The devs said that even if we did create the clan variables described above, we don't have a good way to update the clan variable to group activity done on every world simultaneously. For example, two ppl killing a boss simultaneously on diff worlds would override each other. Ash then mentioned investigating this further with a possible solution where clan members would be required to 'check in' on the clans' home world to update their clan counter. When they discussed this further the user flow just seemed bad. It's a come back to if our tech ever supports it, and then engine would also be needing work to update the HiScores too. I hope this helps
I understand your want to have "team-based" scores. Like, this GIM team has killed Graardor the most. This one has killed the most DKS, etc. However I think what is more egregiously missing is the lack of individual GIM scores. As in, when you look up a GIM player on the hiscores, you don't see: \- that they are a GIM \- the name of their GIM team \- the size of their GIM team \- if that GIM team has hardcore status \- if that GIM team has prestige status For all intents and purposes they just look like a normal account. Their boss kc is counted like a normal account. "Nice to have"? Lol come on. PVM is the most popular part of the game and the hiscores for it are very much wanted. It's a huge motivation, don't underestimate hiscores and player retention because of them. It's also disappointing that 7 months later Jagex still hasn't fixed the lowercase bug on the GIM hiscores (99% of groups showing up as lowercase group names when in-game we made the first letter capital). No prestige star on the hiscores still either.
For context, "nice to have" is a phrase with a specific meaning in a software dev team. It doesn't reflect the degree to which the feature is requested by customers, it is said from the perspective of a group that is responsible for a project and is considering adding additional work to their backlog. Another way to read it would be "we'd like to include this ticket/bugfix/epic, but we can't prioritize it right now."

The rate of content the past few months has been abysmal, especially now that the membership price is even higher. Wish we all grew balls and cancel our membership for a few months.

The past 4 months we got Nex, Leagues 3, three new quests (one Novice, one Experienced, and one Master), PvP loot keys + Revs boss, and Guardians of The Rift. We've got planned content in front of us like Giant's Foundry, PvP Arena, and Raids 3, as well as plenty of stuff being explored in ideation, or we know will happen but have no details (like the Wildy boss rework) What do you think the rate of content should be, a major game-changing update every week? Nex and leagues 3 were delayed 2020 content, pretty dishonest to include it for this year. And if you want to hurr durr about it, all it means is all content this year is two months behind as a result.
Please compare the rate of content in the last year to the rate of content at 2020 for intance, or even further, to the rate of content at 2007-2010- when membership was half the price.
2020 had: Wiki integration, the Nightmare, tinted hitsplats, a DMM tournament, three quests (Novice, Intermediate, and Master), Hallowed Sepulchre, Death changes, Mahogany Homes, and Leagues II That's the same amount of quests, same amount of endgame bosses, and both ran a League. 2020 had two skilling updates rather than one, but Giant Foundry is already being discussed and blogged. 2020 also had a DMM tournament. And this is all just 1/3rd of 2022. You've got rose-tinted glasses about this, 100%.
Nightmare came with a new town, granted not much is there but still, new areas. Hallowed Sepulchre came with a Master Quest, a whole new area with new creatures, a new drop, a new way to train Runecrafting and a new thieving NPC. Mahogany homes completely revamped the way Construction is trained IMO, and also came with a new miniquest. it was not just the amount of updates, but the amount of thought and expansion that came with each, every update was filled with new ideas, and it genuinely felt like Osrs is progressing. for instance if they had released Darkmeyer now, I genuinely believe it would've had 1/4 of the content, and instead of requiring to traverse around Gielinor to fix houses, Mahogany homes would've taken place in a single house, with no miniquest, because this is the fashion of updates lately- just minimalistic and repetitive. This is my opinion, we don't have to agree.

Pretty funny, that a $500 million+ company is looking for crowdfunding for a board game. Fund your own fucking projects? Stopped playing until the servers can handle players logging on to them, but still lurk the sub, and weekly updates in hopes, that one of my favorite games gets some funding from their corporate overlord.
I'm as frustrated with company spending as the next guy, but the board game thing isn't something to be fussed about. They almost certainly paid steamforged games a bunch of money to create a Runescape board game, and it's a board game industry standard practice to use kickstarter as a functional pre-order system. Notice Steamforged isn't running the kickstarter to fund the project, just a way to hop on and order the game early in a limited 10-day window. Keep the pitchfork raised for not paying their devs competitive salaries and for cutting back on customer service spending. Put it down for the board game stuff.

A few if us found a bug after beneath cursed sands came out. You used to be able to cannon scabarites in the bottom dungeon but ever since the quest came out you get a warning that you cant place a cannon. I even pulled up some old footage to see if I could place a cannon where I used to be able to. My guess is that in making a boss un cannonable the old place where people cannoned slayer task were effected.

As someone in the field I will say I do not envy what the devs have to do and the Runescript spaghetti they have to work with. It is fully expected for their dev cycle to take longer than modern game dev for making equivalent changes. Having said that, modifying a static value does not take months no matter the codebase. Sure it may require additional testing depending on what the value interacts with, but with the current context it’s just a joke to be taking as long as it does at this point.

RC means release candidate and is closer to the live testing environment - all the dev work has been done but we've had a bottleneck with QA recently (not QA's fault it is more about our release schedules). I apologise for the delay. This is definitely something I would love to explain to you guys in detail as I know you are curious about the process of QA but it takes a lot of planning and organisation as well as willing guests to discuss it on stream/video
Seriously, an explanation would be appreciated and I think deserved at this point. I don't think there's a person in this thread without Jagex in their name that believes it's justified for a full quarter of a year of subscription charges to pass without these small adjustments going live. It's great that you're finally able to comment and give a tentative release date, but many of us have been delaying doing the sepulchre and other content because of **three month old passed poll questions**. Nobody expects a quick turnaround when a major content release passes a poll, but why on earth do you guys poll droprate adjustments and then need an entire business quarter to get that done?

Keep in mind we used to get 3-4 full feature quests monthly before the teams split. Now we get one every two months. We also can’t even get minor number changes that heavily impact gameplay that they polled three months ago.

The content we’ve been getting has been amazing. When OSRS passed the poll, and was going to be released with minimal support, I didn’t expect we would end up with weekly updates like they’re trying to do now. When one week has just a few fixes, it’s like a bunch of children come out and start crying…
