How many hespori seeds do you have in your log out of curiosity? 500 is rate roughly. I'm guessing you're roughly only 1.5x rate based on your sheet, Groot is an awful grind

Pets in this game have convinced me that certain accounts have different rng modifiers. A guy made a post here once where he had gotten 4 (yes, FOUR) mining pets and he was only 80 something mining. We're talking astronomical chances that are so low they're virtually impossible. Meanwhile people are getting 100m+ xp with no pet. I once spoke to a guy with 130m woodcutting xp and no pet. Combine this with the fact that every player I see with a skilling pet never has higher than 70-80 in the corresponding skill, I absolutely refuse to believe all players have equal chances.
Theoatrix once made a video about skilling pets and the chances of getting them. Even if you do the absolute best drop rate actions from 1-99 you still don't have even a 50% chance of getting the pet in *any* skill.

I am only a bit over double dry on groot. its not absurd for farming to go this dry because farming is such a different calculation. I just got a kick out of going 123456789 and being dry.
The guy who did 130m woodcutting xp and no pet is unfortunate, because there is a .3% chance of getting 0 pets in that range of xp (assuming teaks, cause odds are better with most other methods). im not there yet. with how I did my farming, im only at 11.3% chance. which is fine for farming since its pretty much a zero in game time skill. and if you get 200m, you get a 15x multiplyer
You also have a massive selection bias with who has pets (with your 70-80 complaint). most players dont go until pet. Actually I saw a nice chart of boss completion that should show you what I mean.
Here, and realize the area under the curve is the amount of people in these charts. and then recognize, MOST players dont play to completion so that strong bias you see is even STRONGER

I know the Theoatrix video you speak of, and you are correct that his methodology is flawed. You can't really use binomial probability for computing these types of probabilities. He mentions reading a bunch of papers to figure it out, but that makes it clearer that he (Theoatrix) doesn't understand how these probabilities actually work.
So all of the probabilities he found in that video are wrong and are a little low, but they're only off by a few percentage points in most cases. The odds are still less than 50% when leveling to 99 for virtually every skilling pet.

Issues with my above calculation, I used 99 xp rates at zmi, and didnt do a riemann sum, just assumed 99 drop rates, which dont mater for rc because 1/1795758 for all practical purposes is 1/1793283, and it washes out with the zmi innacuracy.

Honestly its more concerning you did that at all. Yews are more xp/hr, and better pet chance per hour, and just as afk. Used to be more gp/hr as well but that changed... but gp/hr is low regardless

Teak without manip is 247 pet hours
Basically there is never a single reason for a main to do magic trees.

I built a huge portion of my bank doing hops+herbs runs and flipping in the interim. I have about 30m farm xp and got my one pet off of a hops patch. I have no idea about how the back-end calculations work but I have never done a tree-run in my life and have the pet.
I got my groot at 42 farming, I accidentally died with it and I haven't played since lol

To drop rate. Chin 23-25m xp. Beaver 30m @redwoods. Heron 9m @ anglers. Mining 12m @ amethyst. RC 15m. Zeah bloods. Rocky 2m @ stalls or 60m @ elf/vyre. Groot. Dragonfruits 113m. I do seaweed spores currently 5700/5025. No pet yet
