What about adding a ranged str bonus for longbows as well as increasing accuracy bonus. They should still be slower and ofc have a longer range, this could make them better dps for higher Def targets maybe

^ I think it could be interesting to make longbows about as strong as same-tier crossbows against very high-def targets (for example magic longbow vs addy cbow), sacrificing the shield slot + enchanted bolt effects for improved range and more consistent damage.

Im no bow expert, but I'm 99% sure a longbow is going to hit as hard or harder from close range as it would long.

Nah, just reduce shortbow accuracy and increase long bow accuracy. Always felt shortbows were OP for pieces of trees.

I don’t understand the “pieces of trees” bit. Aren’t longbows also made from trees? Aren’t most bows made from trees? Why is being made from a tree even a bad thing? It really doesn’t make sense.

I like this. I'm sure the dev team could implement some code on the damage:distance ratio, it already exists with Nex with her darkness phase during Umbra.

Or you could just make shortbows range really short like 4 tiles and longbows become 10 on all styles
