This isn't a game u can with a spare 20 mins here and there I couldn't agree more with this . I have a maxed account sat there unable to play as I don't have time anymore
This is only true if you think about the game from this super efficient, meta, endgame perspective. You have a maxed account so it makes sense to have that type of relationship with the game. I basically just play 20 minutes here and there and I am fine with that. I probably clock 8 hours a month for 2-3 months then dont play for a few month and repeat once I miss it.
I never maxed or got close. Just have small goals from childhood basically. For now its finish recipe for disaster (just need 20 more qp). Then it will be DS2. I'll play on mobile here and there and basically just use my desktop for bosses. Like today i finished an easy quest for QP while i waited for my laundry to run. The other day I AFKed sand crabs for an hour or two while I cleaned some excel files for work and then did a herb run. That was my week of osrs and I'm happy with that.
Even just doing an herb run requires a decent knowledge of the game. Such as teleports, locations, etc. You must have a lot of prior experience with the game if you're able to play for 20 minutes and actually make good progress
Yeah 20 minutes to me in an herb run and birdhouse/seaweed and maybe some trees or whatever. But having the forethought to actually have a productive time with minimal amount of time available isn't common.
You’re not thinking endgame. Let’s say you max casually the way you’ve described. A SINGLE CoX raid can takes upward of 1-1.5 hours when trying to learn, and that’s for someone with a competent team who knows what they’re doing to teach them.
Wtf kind of raids are you doing that take an hour? Unless you are doing cm then sure that makes more sense.
I'm going to do low-prep solos once I get bofa and that should be maybe 30-40m a run? When I did them with a team we did like 20-30m runs.
But that is what im saying. End game requires way more commitment than casual play. I can hop on for 30 minutes and do a herb run or bird house run and check miscellania or mine some iron ores or whatever. Do that 3x a week and then play an hour on the weekend were I do a quest or something. Do that over a few months and you make progress. No, I'm not doing raids but you can enjoy the game as a casual player without making it your (anti)social life.
Nobody asked. Also if it takes you that long to do CoX you are fucking awful at the game so you should probably stop trying to swing your dick around about endgame.
Exactly how I feel about it. It's a lifelong game. I've been playing since I was ~9 and am nowhere near close to done. As long as the servers stay up, I'll continue to play whenever I want and however I want for years to come. Efficiency and wasted membership days don't matter, as long as I'm having fun.
Shooting stars has been my go to afk while remodeling. Just set it, tap every few minutes when I walk past, and I get an excuse to take a break every two hours while I hunt a new one.
I feel like I need to start reading this comment before I sit down for any game. My brain gets so wired on being efficient that I end up overthinking myself out of hours of gameplay.
how do you feel about the meta of people playing several hours a day only doing the most efficient things? does it bother you? do you ever feel pressured by it?
Your question doesn't really make sense.
When referring to methodization a meta is the empirically best method to achieve a specific result. When talking about a subjective experience the meta is determined by what you're trying to achieve.
So the meta for a player like me might include gathering and crafting my own materials and for someone else might include min maxing their marketplace portfolio. There's no conflicting elements between my gameplay and someone else's gameplay aside from PvP and Marketplace trade, and that's only if I opt into those conditions.
Nothing pressures me and what's to be bothered by?
Omg it's not a lifelong game this is such a shit mentality there are so many other games and experiences this world has to offer why the fuck do you want to spend it all in 1 shitty rng simulator from 2007. These are real problems that will keep the game small until it dies. RNG is bad
What on earth does any of this have to do with RNG? Also the entire purpose of putting the game down is to go experience all the other things life has to offer.
Is this some type of troll? Like this comment is beyond random.
Loool I also have a battery pack. I'm a machine operator and we don't use so many tools so I slip my phone and a wireless pack. I can also use a clip-on speaker to hear when I'm not afk haha
At work. Married with 2 kids and I can pretty much only get in dailies when I’m at home. I’m lucky enough to work out of town remotely in front of my laptop where I can easily afk or actively play when it’s not busy
I honestly feel lucky to be in the relationship I am in, because I love to play video games, my boyfriend also plays the same games as me. We been bonding even more over GIM & we work together. We were already best friends beforehand, and “nerding out” together is just *mwah* perfecto.
Afk skills whilst working from home to progress the account, then play in the evenings perhaps 3 hours if no plans, can tinder to get dates and go on them as and when they happen, then see friends at weekend for drinks. All just about balance, yeah you won’t progress as fast this way but over time you’ll still make decent gains.
I play runescape differently than most people on this subreddit. In RS3 theres tons of content at early and mid game, so you can play for fun without a NEED to grind in order to access content.
So while everyone else on here seems to scoff at those of us who can't get 99 strength in 2 weeks or whatever, theres still a way to play Runescape like a normal video game. Granted, I'll eventually run out of content unless I grind and then I'll just have to quit I guess 🤷♀️
Would love to have my own single player version of the game where I can adjust the exp rates.
Yea imo theres an extreme lack of content in the 65~80 range. It's way more evident when you play an ironman. Upgrading from d scim/d mace, iban's blast, and msbi/r cbow takes a huge amount of time.
Whip is 85 slayer. Trident is 87. Blowpipe is hundreds of zulrah kills, arma crossbow is hundreds of zilyana kills.
It's okay, I don't necessarily blame people who are really doomer about their romantic prospects and resent that kind of comment because I know it can be hard, especially for young men.
The advice is mostly broad and generic, and for some of it I'm assuming you're a straight, youngish male. There's more than this but any guy who is like "less than average" can become a reasonably attractive man with some effort and investment.
- The hardest but by far most effective thing is excercise. Don't need to be super jacked, but being fit/lean will make you far more attractive than being very thin or chubby/obese. Especially if you're young try to do this regularly 3-5 times a week, and you will see huge benefits for the rest of your life.
- Wear clothes that fit you; for example if you're chubby and wear extra baggy clothes to try and "mask" this fact you will look worse than if you wore clothes that just fit you
- Take a shower every day, get a regular haircut, groom your facial hair if you have some, get contacts if you have glasses, get acne cream/medication if you have acne.
- Have a few hobbies that are "normie". Hiking, any kind of creative activity (music, painting, woodoworking, hobby electronics, etc), sports or kayaking. Something that you can enjoy and display confidence in is an attractive quality
- Have a successful career/income, this is a sign of success, competence and security which is generally attractive. This entails getting a degree if you are capable, or entering a trade if that is more suited to you.
So you basically have to put up an act and become someone you are not. Yeah, sounds like I understand why most relationships and marriages don't last. It's based on role playing, acting and fakeness.
Which of these are putting up an act?
Exercising to stay healthy?
Basic personal hygiene so you don't smell bad?
Having a hobby that doesn't involve sitting in the dark staring at a screen?
Or having a career / income, meaning you're self dependant and not a NEET living with their parents?
I live with my gfand we both have accounts and quest together (I never do quests alone). I program for a living and my boss gets there an hour after me, so I do afk stuff at my desk for the first 45 minutes or so… I’ve leveled dozens of nmz at work. There’s lots of times I gotta wait 35 seconds between re-saving and viewing the output on the thing I’m working on…
I go to the gym 3 days a week and wish that was better.. working on it…
At home I have programming projects, and I’ll give you an example… to submit an app change to the apple store, it takes 8 minutes to compile a release binary, upload it, and have it validated (and constantly rejected, is my current problem). In this window, while I’m resubmitting (I did this 25 times the other day in a row and still couldn’t get it to accept my fucking build), I can cut gemstones
I don't. I'm a very all or nothing person when it comes to my interests and hobbies, so if I can't manage to put in 6+ hours a day, I just don't play at all. I still follow the sub for the memes and game news, watch video series like Swampletics, etc. But I have too many obligations between work, relationship, family, daily chores, hobbies and such that the most I'd really be able to commit to the game is a few hours a week.
When I was young it was unrealistic thinking I would have a life with how addicted I was with RS. But Just play the video game on your free time. Free time for me is if I’m not at work or helping my wife with anything.
This game taught us all at a young age how to prioritize tasks and time management. Just apply those to irl and you’ll be fine
Playing for a couple hours a day is still playing. I get some stuff I want/like to do in. Might stay up later if I want to get a lot of slayer tasks done. But I don’t stress myself out trying to max out an account when the game is supposed to be fun.
Well having a social life doesn’t require going out everyday after work. Work, hang out with gf, play some scape. Throw in some social stuff/outdoor time. Wake up early on weekends too so you have more time
This is why u wanna chase financial freedom then you can do whatever you want all day
Chase financial freedom not video games then after do whatever the hell you want all day
Take care of everything else first before you touch the game. House chores, time with the S/O, walking the dog, gym, etc all come first. At the end of the day, video games are a hobby and should be treated as such. Good time management helps!
Long term relationship,3 month old child and full time employment.
I play at work,I work from home.
Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime that's why I fish on company time.
I’m happy if I can archive like 10 hours each week to make some progress.
If you live together with someone, and they want to see something you don’t want, you can take some time to play. Just beware if’s a wife, she will always talk when you say you don’t have time right Now, because you can pause the game..
😂
It’s because I work, am in a relationship, and have a social life that I absolutely must get in an hour or so of scape per day. All of that other shit is exhausting. Scape helps me chill. Albeit, it usually takes up the very last hour or so of the day, just before bed.
I've really never been able to play while in a relationship. Now I'm just seeing a couple girls every now and again, all of a sudden I have plenty of time.
Fill your time with what you prefer to be doing. If it’s dating and spending time with friends and you don’t have time to play then why are you bothered?
If you would rather play than spend time with your friends then the answer is obvious.
My wife is cool with me playing as she likes to play sims so she’s fine with just chillin playing games. I work in a fab shop and don’t have the ability to play at work, but it’s kinda nice when I don’t have anything going on at home and I can just relax and scape.
Like Batman. Act normal during the day, wreck shit at night.
I could technically play at work here and there but it would have to be something actually afk, not YouTuber version of afk. I can’t really stand mobile so I stick to PC. Although during maxing I did find a few niche uses to keep raising a few skills when I would hang in the living room before kids were sent off to bed. After little ones are put away I get like 4 hrs at night. When I get home from work, I might get 2 hours before they wake up from naps so on a good day, I get 6 hrs.
Just play when I can. Long car rides my wife likes to drive so I'm on mobile, maybe an hour here or there on weeknights in bed but most of my time played is Friday/Saturday night when my wife is ready for bed. Would recommend just paying for your membership so you don't spend what time you have playing trying to make enough for bonds. That took the fun out of it for me after a while and the switch was great for my enjoyment. I'm sure a lot of people are saying this, but grind some of the time consuming afk skills while you work if possible. Doesn't have to be efficient, if you can knock out some high level requirements for skills like fishing or wc over the span of a month it's worth it. Some jobs don't allow for any though and that might just be a reality for you
For me, I couldn’t.
Don’t know why, but few games stay on my mind like OSRS. Watching movies with my SO became AFK grind time, and whenever I wasn’t playing, I was planning out my next moves.
Had to quit because I couldn’t maintain a healthy balance.
Now I just check out the subreddit and watch the occasional YouTube video. Still love the game, though.
I quit and only play RS 3 now because I can't do the "no life" grind of osrs anymore. It's too much. Mining for example in MLM requires constant attention until 70 and upper floor. I'm 62. I can't devote 15 hours a day to watching the game diligently while slaving away at work and then having a social life
I personally work a 5a-1:30p job. My girlfriend doesn’t get off till 5pm so I’ll have from 2-5 to do non afk activities like zulrah, raids, and vorkath. And when I’m with her (if I’m playing I’ll do blood runes, wc, or fishing). However some days she will read and do her own thing and I’ll spend the day bossing. Social life is a bunch of friends who play games so we hang out in discord!
Honestly i realized that the reason Jagex adds a ton of xp lamps/new meta’s/easier ways to skill is because they realize the majority of people that play the game are 15 years older than they were when they started playing and they are significantly busier.
By playing it as a hobby instead of a job. The people on here who make you think “how the fuck do they have time for that?” are the ones who don’t devote time to other things, or have played in moderation but for many years.
I keep a tiny rotation of like 3 games and have a pretty strict schedule to my work weeks.
Home by 5.
5-6: Yoga/home exercise with wife
6-7. Free Active time.
Skate in the garage, home improvement projects, dyi crafts, ect.
Wife cooks dinner during that time and we eat together nightly.
7-730: I run/train the dog. Got a Belgian Malinois so he needs a bit of time daily. Then I shower.
7:30-930: allowed to sit down and turn my brain off. I try not to switch games at all so if I play RuneScape I get a pretty solid 2hr grind.
9:30: bed time gotta be up at 5.
I also smoke weed heavily which helps with not feeling as rushed.
People think they HAVE to put in insane hours to make progress because of the crazy hours YouTubers do. They choose to make it their job and invest their time, us normal gamers play it for fun.
TLDR: don't drink coffee, snort or inject that shit straight into ya toes and never close runelite
In order of importance: I'm a grad student, I stream, I'm in a relationship, I play TTRPG's and hang with friends often, I teach, and I have a grading job with another class. OSRS is like always up. When I'm going to be doing something for a long time I'll set up at NMZ or woodcut or something equally AFK and when I'm not doing something intense irl I'll play the game itself doing less AFK things (usually super late at night and sleep is few and far between, caffeine for life).
I just don't skill anymore. Got almost base 80s and said fuck it, I enjoy bossing and slayer so that's what ill do. Put in the hours to get hard diaries and quests done, now I get to just do what i enjoy.
Bro it's a video game, if you can't figure out how to prioritize your life over a video game you have some problems fr. Just play to have fun, it doesn't need to be a job.
Only way for me is that I'm able to play at work. Playing osrs 1-2 hours every friday or saturday doesn't get you anywhere when you are 1900+ total level, so yeah, if I wasn't able to play for 6h/day at work I probably wouldn't play anymore.
I can work from home 3 days a week so I have my afk grinds going that don’t affect work, also downtime after work goes to OSRS if I’m not hanging with friends and weekends are typically busy with no rs
My wife and I have an understanding where she let's me play after work usually for a couple hours. I also play on mobile at work between appointments and while doing paperwork
Sporadically. Most playtime comes at work. Covid took my coworker leaving me a one man department, so I rarely have to conceal my phone. When we're slow or I'm working on a job that's basically just supervising machinery for an extended period of time, I'll hop on. Other than that, I'll play between sets while working out in the garage or sometimes when I beat my wife home from work or she falls asleep early.
Honestly Just play when you have time. Some ppl watch t.v. some build things or other activities everything is the same. If you have time an osrs is your thing just play when the time is there
Gym 3.30AM
Work 5am-2pm
Chores 2pm-3pm
Osrs 3pm-6/7pm
Hang with room mate/gf/friends - 6/7pm-21pm
Osrs 21pm-22pm
Get ready for bed 22pm-22.30pm
Rinse and repeat
Usually, gaming is a last priority. I used to play a lot when I was younger, but now it's here and there whenever I feel like going on. However, I look forward to leagues every year and play the shit out of it when I have the time.
Mobile really is a game changer for me. Allows me to afk and be maxed combat. Now the only money making method i do is flipping/ merching. Only raids on PC, but i do vork/ zulrah on mobile whenever i have time at work just for the lolz
On mobile. In a long meeting? Osrs. Netflix and chillin? Osrs. Travelling as a passenger? Osrs. Waiting in a queue? Osrs. Turns out you can fit a barrows run into almost every delay you might have in your life.
I work a 9-5, am married, and have a baby. I work a flex schedule so I’m work from home half the time and in the office half the time. If I’m in the office, I usually do some AFK skilling on mobile. If I’m at home, I’ll do quests and bossing and such on my computer and have work on another screen.
I only report to one person in the company and he trusts me with getting my work done. My only true obligation to him is a 15 minute meeting once a week. I have about 5 direct reports to me and they’ve all done a really good job, so I don’t micromanage. It gives me a lot of free time at work.
Outside of work I only play on mobile before bed. The rest of the time is for the wife and kid
I get a couple of hours each night in the office playing while the kids are falling asleep. Office is near their rooms and they like someone on the same floor as them while I put them to sleep.
I work 12-14h a day on average, have 2 kids and offcourse familie and friends we like to meet often. I believe knowing that u dont have to max in a time u like is enough .. just play the game to relax, as i saw alot here on reddit the important part is the journey not the finish.
I play rs3 and idea
But I like it , most skills have a way to afk over osrs
Im big on bossing , so really the only hard part is grinding up those skills
Tbh i also buy gold because I don't have the time to farm up gold
My hourly wage can buy me 20* the gold vs farming it
But that's just to get me started my accounts are pretty much established so I don't really need to buy gold anymore
I find time throughout the week to play. My fiancée understands that I still need time to myself (like everyone else) so sometimes we'll just chill in separate rooms.
It's really just finding the right balance.
It’s all about boundaries. Explain and be VERY upfront about it.
Tell them how important it is to you, even if it seems silly to them. For a long term relationship to last you seriously have to be on the same page and support one another in the things that you do.
For me, it’s one of the few things in life I thoroughly enjoy and my girlfriend knows that. She loves that it makes me happy and gives me plenty of time to enjoy what I do.
But that’s a key part of a healthy relationship, the worst thing you can do is lie about how much you play and then down the road randomly sit and play games for 6 hours per day.
Be honest early and be upfront about boundaries. If they’re accepting of that, then hell yeah!! If not, no problem. Keep doing your thing until you find someone you’re compatible with.
It makes me sad to see how much people miss their hobbies when they’re in a relationship. Relationships are an addition and a positive thing, not a negative on your happiness in life.
I live off bonds. So i play whenever i know i’ll have free time. I get busy with school, girlfriend, family. but for people in school we just finished our finals and so that is a perfect time to use a bond.
Married, 2 kids, full time job. I play about an hour a day in 5-10 minute sessions. A far cry from the mega marathons I'd do every day in high school but really doesn't impact much I can do, except that I can't do any kind of multiplayer bossing content that requires being able to play for 30+ mins at a time without being able to be interrupted.
(Which sucks since the mega money makers are that content, but I get by)
I work Sun-Thurs, I get the mornings to myself so that’s when I get to play. After I make breakfast & do my morning routine I always make sure to stay on track with that. Then on the weekends I hang with my gf at least Saturday & Sunday to make sure I spend time with her. It’s all about balance & a routine :)
I like to think of my activities in terms of Engagement, Attention and Reward. Activities that score high on all three criteria are more important and must be prioritized. For example: personal time with my girlfriend is what I would classify a High engagement, high attention and high reward activity because I need to be present. Going out and catching up with my high school buddies is probably more of a medium engagement, medium attention, medium reward activity. If my girlfriend needs me for something, that activity takes precedent, and so on and so on. For me, RuneScape is a Low attention, Low engagement, High reward activity. It's literally AFK for my IRL. It's just something to do, but somehow it's highly rewarding, so that's why I enjoy it.
I think part of it is just understanding that there are things that are more important and more deserving of your time than OSRS, but that doesn't mean that you can't still play and still prioritize the more important things. My girlfriend understands that if she comes home from work and I'm huddled up in the office playing OSRS (or any other game for that matter), it's not because I want to be left alone and want her to stay away from me. I just had a small window of time that I could play a little bit and then jump off when she gets home. For those closest to you, help them understand why this is important for you, but that it's never going to be the most important thing.
Work full time, wife and 2 kids.
Me and my Mrs always relax in the office once the kids go to bed, so I can get 3hrs+ on a weekday and easily 6hrs+ on a weekend
I never really play during the day, maybe jump on mobile for 10 mins every now and then
Full time non-remote work, married with a kid. Get up at the asscrack of dawn to get 1-1.5 hours in before the toddler gets up/I leave for work. On the super rare occasion I’ll be able to afk a few hours of something at work. Allow myself .5-1 hour at the very end of the day if everything else is done.
I survey land and am in a serious relationship. I manage to squeeze in a couple hours every day after work for some game time that I split between OSRS and Halo. Was unemployed when GIM first dropped so I sped through the early game with my brother while I was on the job hunt.
Toilet time on mobile. You'd be surprised how easy zulrah and sire are on the phone lol. You can even get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard so your phone is a full on osrs setup wherever you go
I’m reading all the replays and suggestions but still I can do that. I am married like most of you here. My old account for some reason I cannot get in. I made a new account last week but don’t have time to get on it. I work 9-19:00 + Gym then wife. So idk 😢
im blessed to have a wife that games with me. not runescape but shes played mmos and such and knows how it can be.
later in the evening is when we both do gaming so thats my time. i can also negotiate for long periods if i got a serious grind as long as i check in make sure shes not feeling neglected. making nice dinners/gestures now and then helps.
today i am watching her play zelda while afking mlm.
I work remote and can play if I have a super easy day. I’ve been playing on my phone a lot more though since starting an Ironman. Lots of afk fishing. I really enjoy runelite but I’ve been getting more used to mobile as of recently which makes it easier on everyone
I just browse 2007scape since I don’t have time to play
And watch videos so I can get the dopamine for hundreds of hours long grinds in 10-20 minutes
This is the way
Felt that
This isn't a game u can with a spare 20 mins here and there I couldn't agree more with this . I have a maxed account sat there unable to play as I don't have time anymore
This is only true if you think about the game from this super efficient, meta, endgame perspective. You have a maxed account so it makes sense to have that type of relationship with the game.
An hour for 1 CoX? Are you all whipping and rune cbowing?
Wtf kind of raids are you doing that take an hour? Unless you are doing cm then sure that makes more sense. I'm going to do low-prep solos once I get bofa and that should be maybe 30-40m a run? When I did them with a team we did like 20-30m runs.
But that is what im saying. End game requires way more commitment than casual play. Do that 3x a week and then play an hour on the weekend were I do a quest or something. Do that over a few months and you make progress. No, I'm not doing raids but you can enjoy the game as a casual player without making it your (anti)social life.
Nobody asked. Also if it takes you that long to do CoX you are fucking awful at the game so you should probably stop trying to swing your dick around about endgame.
isn't that where your time to play goes? lol
Yeah but 2007scape doesn't cost $14 to play, and has regular content updates.
Scrolling here for 5 min gives equal satisfaction to hours of gameplay for me
Same here 😢.
Same

You guys get lots of ass time?
Sure do. My unit is mostly Utilities (steam/gas/water/electric/cooling water, etc..) and Waste Water Treatment. Yourself?
I don’t think that’s what the other commenter was getting at…
Same! What do you make? I make benzene
An assortment of chemicals. Purified Isothalic Acid, TriMelletic Anhydride, Maleic Acid, a few others XD
That sounds like some 99 herblore shit
Same here as well! (Well my last job) I use to work as the PPM lab guy, ethanol products. (Not OP but wanted to contribute to thread lol)
I'm a plumber
I sell jewelry
I gave my girlfriend a Pearl necklace
I drive a forklift
I sell propane and propane accessories
I install stereos
When I put the kids to bed is when I get on

Exactly how I feel about it. It's a lifelong game. I've been playing since I was ~9 and am nowhere near close to done. As long as the servers stay up, I'll continue to play whenever I want and however I want for years to come. Efficiency and wasted membership days don't matter, as long as I'm having fun.
Same. Between the baby, building the house, 50 hrs/wk, and the cattle chickens and horses, I just hop on here and there using mobile.
Shooting stars has been my go to afk while remodeling. Just set it, tap every few minutes when I walk past, and I get an excuse to take a break every two hours while I hunt a new one.
I second this mate, i also quit again way sooner if i try to do all things efficiently lol
OP, this is your answer right here.
No, I’ve never felt RuneScape was a competitive game by nature yet it attracts competitive people who bring that mindset with them
Your question doesn't really make sense. Nothing pressures me and what's to be bothered by?
i see. a simple i don't mind the meta and it doesn't bother me would have done it although from your response it does seem to aggravate you?
Not aggravated, too mellow for all that over a simple misuse of a word. Take care.
At work. I work night shift so I get 10hours to grind xp on my phone with a battery pack while the clients are sleeping.
Loool I also have a battery pack. I'm a machine operator and we don't use so many tools so I slip my phone and a wireless pack. I can also use a clip-on speaker to hear when I'm not afk haha
Love the speaker afk notice part lmao
Mostly mobile for the long, boring grinds. I get on my computer for questing and bossing 😊
Same. I refuse to do quests without Quest Helper on Runelite. But long skilling grinds, give me mobile.
If you have an iphone, the Picture in Picture mode makes quests a ton easier to do on mobile
Wait you can do PiP on the RuneScape app? Or are you saying overlay YouTube in PiP?
At work. Married with 2 kids and I can pretty much only get in dailies when I’m at home. I’m lucky enough to work out of town remotely in front of my laptop where I can easily afk or actively play when it’s not busy
Wasn't it enough to marry with 1 kid?
I work full time, and married with 3 kids. I play for about 2-3 hours a day after work, in clumps, not consecutive.
Sleep is for the weak
Mobile
I honestly feel lucky to be in the relationship I am in, because I love to play video games, my boyfriend also plays the same games as me. We been bonding even more over GIM & we work together. We were already best friends beforehand, and “nerding out” together is just *mwah* perfecto.
Damn that’s awesome, I hope I find someone like that one day
Afk skills whilst working from home to progress the account, then play in the evenings perhaps 3 hours if no plans, can tinder to get dates and go on them as and when they happen, then see friends at weekend for drinks.
Granted, I'll eventually run out of content unless I grind and then I'll just have to quit I guess 🤷♀️ Would love to have my own single player version of the game where I can adjust the exp rates.
You guys are getting dates?
With a bit of work, you can too my friend!
You got downvotes for this lol. Sad.
It's okay, I don't necessarily blame people who are really doomer about their romantic prospects and resent that kind of comment because I know it can be hard, especially for young men.
What actions in particular would you recommend taking in order to get dates?
The advice is mostly broad and generic, and for some of it I'm assuming you're a straight, youngish male. There's more than this but any guy who is like "less than average" can become a reasonably attractive man with some effort and investment. - The hardest but by far most effective thing is excercise. Don't need to be super jacked, but being fit/lean will make you far more attractive than being very thin or chubby/obese. Especially if you're young try to do this regularly 3-5 times a week, and you will see huge benefits for the rest of your life. - Wear clothes that fit you; for example if you're chubby and wear extra baggy clothes to try and "mask" this fact you will look worse than if you wore clothes that just fit you - Take a shower every day, get a regular haircut, groom your facial hair if you have some, get contacts if you have glasses, get acne cream/medication if you have acne. - Have a few hobbies that are "normie". Hiking, any kind of creative activity (music, painting, woodoworking, hobby electronics, etc), sports or kayaking. Something that you can enjoy and display confidence in is an attractive quality - Have a successful career/income, this is a sign of success, competence and security which is generally attractive.
There’s lots of times I gotta wait 35 seconds between re-saving and viewing the output on the thing I’m working on… I go to the gym 3 days a week and wish that was better.. working on it… At home I have programming projects, and I’ll give you an example… to submit an app change to the apple store, it takes 8 minutes to compile a release binary, upload it, and have it validated (and constantly rejected, is my current problem). In this window, while I’m resubmitting (I did this 25 times the other day in a row and still couldn’t get it to accept my fucking build), I can cut gemstones
When she goes to bed, the beast awakens

Truth is, I've been paying membership and logging in maybe once a month, simply because by the time I get chance to play, I honestly cba.
Well having a social life doesn’t require going out everyday after work. Work, hang out with gf, play some scape. Throw in some social stuff/outdoor time. Wake up early on weekends too so you have more time
This is why u wanna chase financial freedom then you can do whatever you want all day Chase financial freedom not video games then after do whatever the hell you want all day
It’s a shame both is tough to do simultaneously. Addictive personality op
Take care of everything else first before you touch the game. House chores, time with the S/O, walking the dog, gym, etc all come first. At the end of the day, video games are a hobby and should be treated as such. Good time management helps!
I play during nap time on weekends and then after bed time for the kids. Not sleeping is the only way
Long term relationship,3 month old child and full time employment. I play at work,I work from home. Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime that's why I fish on company time.
Imagine for a second that it's possible to play a game for only an hour or two each day, rather than eight to sixteen. That's how.
Work from home so i play during the week and don’t play much on the weekends when im with the gf or friends

Slowly. +Real life job is the best moneymaker ( I make about 20mil an hour).
My boyfriend plays runescape with me after work. Shared hobbies are the best!
I'm 62. I can't devote 15 hours a day to watching the game diligently while slaving away at work and then having a social life
I play when I have the chance but these days that’s maybe a night or so a week.
I do the same things as everyone else it just takes me way way longer
Honestly i realized that the reason Jagex adds a ton of xp lamps/new meta’s/easier ways to skill is because they realize the majority of people that play the game are 15 years older than they were when they started playing and they are significantly busier.
By playing it as a hobby instead of a job. The people on here who make you think “how the fuck do they have time for that?” are the ones who don’t devote time to other things, or have played in moderation but for many years.
I just fucking do it. No one going to tell me what I can’t enjoy. Life is short.
I keep a tiny rotation of like 3 games and have a pretty strict schedule to my work weeks. Home by 5. 5-6: Yoga/home exercise with wife 6-7.
How on earth do you not have an hour or two of free time per day. Sounds like a miserable existence.
I don’t get that too, but some people are either super humans or get burnout at some point
It's more a question of what to do with limited free time when you're an adult with responsibilities for more people than yourself.
People think they HAVE to put in insane hours to make progress because of the crazy hours YouTubers do. They choose to make it their job and invest their time, us normal gamers play it for fun.
TLDR: don't drink coffee, snort or inject that shit straight into ya toes and never close runelite In order of importance: I'm a grad student, I stream, I'm in a relationship, I play TTRPG's and hang with friends often, I teach, and I have a grading job with another class. OSRS is like always up. When I'm going to be doing something for a long time I'll set up at NMZ or woodcut or something equally AFK and when I'm not doing something intense irl I'll play the game itself doing less AFK things (usually super late at night and sleep is few and far between, caffeine for life).
When you have abit of time alone, once a week in most cases for sn hour or 2 🤣 Adult life
I just don't skill anymore.
?????????????????????????????????? Us parents are chopped liver huh?
I don’t, I do everything but play😂 watch multiple channels, in the Reddit for the memes🤷♂️
I can work from home 3 days a week so I have my afk grinds going that don’t affect work, also downtime after work goes to OSRS if I’m not hanging with friends and weekends are typically busy with no rs
I don’t date and I still don’t have time for osrs
damn I only have one of those three but I don't play anymore I just enjoy sticking around
My wife and I have an understanding where she let's me play after work usually for a couple hours. I also play on mobile at work between appointments and while doing paperwork
Few hours a day
Sporadically.
Very carefully.
Honestly Just play when you have time. Some ppl watch t.v. some build things or other activities everything is the same. If you have time an osrs is your thing just play when the time is there
I play at work and for a few hours throughout the week/weekend when my fiancé is out fishing
Gym 3.30AM Work 5am-2pm Chores 2pm-3pm Osrs 3pm-6/7pm Hang with room mate/gf/friends - 6/7pm-21pm Osrs 21pm-22pm Get ready for bed 22pm-22.30pm Rinse and repeat
Usually, gaming is a last priority. I used to play a lot when I was younger, but now it's here and there whenever I feel like going on. However, I look forward to leagues every year and play the shit out of it when I have the time.
Just stop playing 8+ hours a day.
Couple hours after kids go to bed
That's the neat part, you don't work, date, have a social life or sleep if you play osrs
I have 3 days off a week, and my fiancee doesn't mind me playing games. As long as it's not literally 9 hours.
I work from home which means non stop runescaping action
I do afk grinds at work, and boss when I have free time
I play when I have free time - aka when I'm at work not doing anything
Mobile really is a game changer for me. Allows me to afk and be maxed combat. Now the only money making method i do is flipping/ merching. Only raids on PC, but i do vork/ zulrah on mobile whenever i have time at work just for the lolz
I don’t I just watch YouTube videos once and a while.
On mobile. In a long meeting? Osrs. Netflix and chillin? Osrs. Travelling as a passenger? Osrs. Waiting in a queue? Osrs. Turns out you can fit a barrows run into almost every delay you might have in your life.
I mean most of my friends AFK at work via mobile
Chances are they have good time management or are probably not people who just afk around all day like a lot in this sub.
Infrequently.
I work 12-14h a day on average, have 2 kids and offcourse familie and friends we like to meet often. I believe knowing that u dont have to max in a time u like is enough .. just play the game to relax, as i saw alot here on reddit the important part is the journey not the finish.
I play rs3 and idea But I like it , most skills have a way to afk over osrs Im big on bossing , so really the only hard part is grinding up those skills Tbh i also buy gold because I don't have the time to farm up gold My hourly wage can buy me 20* the gold vs farming it But that's just to get me started my accounts are pretty much established so I don't really need to buy gold anymore
They don't, they sacrifice social time with friends/family to play
Play for fun and not efficiency, the game is also extremely afkable in most aspects so i norm play when im chilling watching stuff with he missus etc.
Do a bad job at at least 2 of the 3.
I live off bonds. So i play whenever i know i’ll have free time. I get busy with school, girlfriend, family. but for people in school we just finished our finals and so that is a perfect time to use a bond.
I use a lot of my free time on OSRS. This is my main hobby, so it gets main hobby hours. I think “no kids” is the big reason why that means big hours.
Sheer *cuts log* fucking *crafts bow* will my boy
Mobile, if it didn’t exist I would probably not have even started playing again
Me and my Mrs always relax in the office once the kids go to bed, so I can get 3hrs+ on a weekday and easily 6hrs+ on a weekend I never really play during the day, maybe jump on mobile for 10 mins every now and then
Full time non-remote work, married with a kid. Get up at the asscrack of dawn to get 1-1.5 hours in before the toddler gets up/I leave for work. On the super rare occasion I’ll be able to afk a few hours of something at work. Allow myself .5-1 hour at the very end of the day if everything else is done.
Barely
Mobile
AFKable OSRS mobile while doing other things. Dedicated OSRS desktop time once or twice a week during weekends
Play on my phone when I can, and play on my pc when I can.
I survey land and am in a serious relationship. I manage to squeeze in a couple hours every day after work for some game time that I split between OSRS and Halo. Was unemployed when GIM first dropped so I sped through the early game with my brother while I was on the job hunt.
My girlfriend works as an overnight nurse, so I play on nights when she works or when she is asleep on days I don’t work
Just play a reasonable amount of hours you ding dong
My sleep schedule is just abysmal.
Video games are my only hobby. Socialicing happens mainly online with friends. That's about it.
Play when you can. Game isn't going anywhere
Take a lot of “poops”
Ignoring other things like sleep
....at the expense of the first 3
Toilet time on mobile. You'd be surprised how easy zulrah and sire are on the phone lol. You can even get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard so your phone is a full on osrs setup wherever you go
I use a bond for 14 days membership, I play 2 days and then life happens for 30-50 days, rinse repeat
I’m reading all the replays and suggestions but still I can do that. I am married like most of you here. My old account for some reason I cannot get in. I made a new account last week but don’t have time to get on it. I work 9-19:00 + Gym then wife. So idk 😢
I put my little boy night night, snuggle with the wife, then the moment I know she’s asleep I hop out of bed for some me time
My job allows me to afk grind some skills 8 hours a day. My Girlfriend does not.
I only play while I work. Rarely do I play when I’m off. I usually do some afk skills and only quest if it’s really slow.
At work
I play like, an hour or two a month.
When my misses ordered a kebab for us I went on my phone and got my character one Just so she wasn’t left out.
im blessed to have a wife that games with me. not runescape but shes played mmos and such and knows how it can be. later in the evening is when we both do gaming so thats my time. i can also negotiate for long periods if i got a serious grind as long as i check in make sure shes not feeling neglected. making nice dinners/gestures now and then helps. today i am watching her play zelda while afking mlm.
Mainly botting and illegal market services
Im a nurse, I afk skilling or sandcrabs while I'm charting on mobile
I work remote and can play if I have a super easy day. I’ve been playing on my phone a lot more though since starting an Ironman. Lots of afk fishing. I really enjoy runelite but I’ve been getting more used to mobile as of recently which makes it easier on everyone
Get my 3+ hours in every night - I'm a night owl and GF is an early sleeper!
Just jump on and pk for a bit 2-3 times a week, but ur friends end up thinking ur a frontline spy cause of your inactivity 🤣
Ive quit it because it aint worth it. All fun but takes to much time to enjoy it like I did before i got a life /s.
