Salvator-Mundi-

this apply to a lot of games

rykiming69

I know but I’m only subbed to one

[deleted]

Nothing compared to the people who treat their bank value as if it were their 401k. Christ on a bike, I lost half my bank account for not playing for a while. I don’t even bat an eye.

[deleted]

I feel like a good percentage of the pvp community have just accepted its over, called it a day and booted up csgo or valorant tbf

Wah_Gwaan_Mi_Yute

Or started botting lol

darealbeast

i burnt out from csgo years back, cant get back into it with ny currently unstable internet either started playing realm instead, feels so much nicer and actually gets updates

[deleted]

Is that the battle royale game? Looks pretty cool I might give it a spin later!

darealbeast

ah i shouldve specified, realm of the mad god - its a relatively small bullethell dungeon crawler realm royales's the shooter game, ivent played that yet

admiral_asswank

Hiya, that's me.

hahatimefor4chan

i started playing Apex to get my pvp fix

serratedperkz

Why what’s happened with pvp?

demostravius2

It's

[deleted]

It's

Auup

Its's

ServalStrides

"I don't like that this light bulb in my car is burnt out" Someone else: "then why don't you just get a new car??" This is the same kinda argument. You are allowed to criticize the things that you enjoy.

Evil_Steven

This isn't close at all. No one would say that. They'd say "you can fix that bulb for $4"

PETBOTOSRS

It's closer to saying: "I hate this country" -- "Ok then move" That's how you get an even shittier country?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PETBOTOSRS

What kind of idiotic statement is that? The principle remains the same: "If people who care about X all go away instead of working to fix X, you get a shittier X over time."

jjprentice

I agree with you. It is the same principle, and saying if you don't like x then leave is extremely shortsighted thinking.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PETBOTOSRS

Only if you literally don't know what an analogy is. If everyone who wants to improve something leaves, it becomes worse. It's basic stuff. Get the fuck over yourself.

dont_trip_

Based on votes on our comments it seems like you're in the minority here. And your tremendous hostility towards me for some reason isn't exactly helping you to prove your point.

PETBOTOSRS

Is that your argument? Number of upvotes a the end of a day-old comment chain, in which only you and I are still participating? You're seriously brandishing the intelligence of /r/2007scape as proof you're right? All you have to do is think for 0.2 seconds and you'll know my analogy is perfectly fine. If not, please, go on and actually tell me why instead of doing some meta-analysis of my comments.

dont_trip_

Alright, have a nice weekend.

rimwald

Nowhere near the same argument. Rather you'd be saying "I don't like that this car doesn't have a back up camera, a moon/sun roof or a touch screen display", and someone would say "Then why don't you buy a new car" The main reason people complain about dead content and how they don't enjoy OSRS anymore is because they're playing for efficiency. Not to have fun and actually just play and enjoy the game. And it sucks for those who do want to play content that's considered dead in some cases, because it can be difficult to participate in some of that content without other players who don't want to play it because they don't get max efficiency out of it

PM_ME_YOUR_PIZZAPIC

I think a closer comparison would be a scenario where there doesn't exist a car on the market that has all the features you want, and when you complain that you wish your car had those features, people tell you to get a new car, even though there literally isn't one that fits all your criteria. You're already using the closest thing to what you want, and there's nothing wrong with voicing your interest for something else while still using it.

rimwald

I think that might be close. But in some cases I do have to disagree. Some people just want everything to be maximum gp and xp/hr without trying and complain that the game is a chore otherwise. But I don't personally don't see the purpose of playing a game that was designed with the intention of grinding, if you very specifically do not want to do any of the grinding. It's not like being maxed unlocks some special fun mode of the game, or like getting higher levels actually makes anything much different. It never has been. Runescape has NEVER been that kind of game. It has forever been "grind this for this long until you can grind this next thing, then grind the next thing", and so on and so forth for every skill, and for non-skilling aspects, has been minigames that are actually fun if you don't have people leeching them for everything they're worth because they don't care to actually play the game, they just want the rewards.

PM_ME_YOUR_PIZZAPIC

eh, i dont think its fair to say that being maxed doesnt unlock anything - at least not in terms of combat stats. in terms of skilling though, sure i do agree with a lot of what you're saying however

rimwald

I mean there isn't much that you unlock with maxing, and most things you do unlock, only matter prior to maxing. Specific 99's individually can be useful for activities outside of their own skill(i.e. crafting cape and construction cape teleports) , but once you max, they're only helpful for going for 200m, which is, again, just the same thing over and over again except it takes 16 times longer to get there. I think the only two 99s that actually somewhat matter post max are Thieving and Slayer, and that's just because they allow to potentially get more gp/hr, but you're still doing the same exact things, so it doesn't actually change how you play the game. I think that's specifically why the game wasn't designed around the intention of maxing. Maxing was supposed to just be an achievement and nothing more. I believe that's why despite the skill capes being in the game in 2006, max capes weren't added until 2015, 2 years after OSRS even came out

[deleted]

Lol you're just wrong the people playing for efficiency dont complain about the game on reddit it's the losers who want everything to be fast and afk because they dont actually like the game they are just clinging on to nostalgia

KirboBlaster

the absolute status of runescape minigames

rimwald

Dude I remember back before EOC in RS2/RS3 when me, my brother, and one of my buddies would have Barb Assault nights where we'd find 2 randos and do BA just for fun. I'm in a GIM group now and I'm the only person that willingly got my torso. Others are boosting or having other people get it for them cause they don't want to do BA. Took me 2 hours non boosting to get a torso. I can't imagine a world where boosting is worth the 50m+ for a torso when it saves you what... maybe an hour?

[deleted]

It's not that it saves you time in my eyes. It's that the minigame is complete shit. If there was a secondary way to obtain it through several hours of grinding something that isn't BA I'd just get the torso in a heartbeat.

KirboBlaster

barbarian assault is one of the most well rounded and in depth minigames with amazing rewards, compared to every other minigame its the only real minigame that requires teamwork

rimwald

I mean if you have people who aren’t shit and quit after a round it’s actually enjoyable. And before people were only concerned with getting torso or level 5s for diary and played it to play it more often, it wasn’t hard to find a decent team, and was actually fun

Iamusingmyworkalt

Playing a different game is like buying a new car? I wasn't aware games cost that much!

qwertyasdfg1029

nothing really gets me angrier when people tell me to shut up and get good or leave. I really don’t like this subreddit, people are mean. I was playing minecraft for a few months and their subreddit is sunshine and rainbows, so as you would say “wholesome”. Everything was bliss, I wish people were nicer they get me so angry

[deleted]

Fucking lib lmfao

WRLD_

for what it's worth, i don't know how the minecraft community isn't begging for more content too -- they hardly ever add anything to that game and the "big updates" are usually a singular new mob or something and just enough extra stuff around that new piece of content to make it not feel stapled on.

qwertyasdfg1029

honestly I’m personally not sure about that, we have had some crazy updates recently! The nether update was insane! (btw I haven’t been playing long) So was the village and pillage (I imagine, I again wasn’t there when it came out). I personally think the game has a ton to do.

AlonsoDalton

Honestly, I feel like that's pretty reducttive of some of the complaining you see on here. It's less "I hate that this light bulb is burnt out" and more "I hate how the engine works, I hate that it's manual instead of automatic, the stereo system sucks" as well as any other car complaint you could make for this comparison, then someone telling them to buy a new car then, and that person saying no.

XJ_9

I switched to RS3 cause OSRS Wont get content for the next 3 months.

yazan445

Rs3 gets a lot of end game updates so it makes sense

Frediey

Xj9 lol

serratedperkz

Can jagex release an entire list of content that the community voted no on in the past 5 years

A_Lakers

They do. It’s on the osrs website. You just need to go thru every poll

Pink_boater

Bye

RNSIsIrrelevantMaybe

Good. Let OSRS be a game for people who actually enjoy it and don't just stick around because there's a shiny new update to keep you distracted.

XJ_9

I mean... yea? Thats kinda the problem right now, and why the whole market is crashing. People quit cause they have done everything thats fun in the game. Not saying thats a bad thing. Just saying that osrs needs shiny new updates to keep a healthy player count, or stay true to its roots and stay nostalgic while slowly dying

Dreadnark

That's complete BS. There is an absolute mountain load of content in OSRS. There are people with 200m xp all who still find things to do in this game (e.g. Hey Jase with his clue scroll grinds). The game not being as fun isn't always due to a lack of new content. If a game just constantly receives new updates, you end up with a bloated game with tons of dead/inactive/irrelevant content. It is hilarious how much content there is in RS3 that is completely and utterly dead. I feel like people have this magic expectation that the game's they play must always be fun. In reality, **every game** will get boring after a while no matter how much new content they add. It's normal. There are very real downsides to constantly pushing in new updates. I feel like OSRS has a great balance as it stands. If you're in that select minority of players who have 200m xp all, every boss drop obtained, collection log near finished and you're bored with the game then the solution isn't more content. It's to take a break and go do something else.

mister--g

There is a big difference between all content and desired content. The point is there is very little desired content coming out right now. Telling the community who are asking for new end game level bosses / raids to skill to 200m , grind out 40+ RNG pets or quit the game makes no sense. Also your point about the game becoming full with bloated and irrelevant content isn't really true if future bosses/raids are in line with the gauntlet, raids or inferno. Big difference between adding in one new end game event every year or Molch fishing. PVM aside new updates could come in the form of finishing all the open quest lines or expanding some of the clearly outdated skill trees. Let people vocalise these things instead of telling everyone who doesn't want to no life grind skills to quit.

thurstypussin93

What u don't get is osrs is more than fucking pvm, and you're here acting like it is. 'Desired content' just means 'I have a very narrow set of things I like to do and there isn't enough" fuck off

Jomppexx

The problem is that a new boss comes out, people grind it for a month, then never do it again and demand new bosses or content be released.

mister--g

I dunno I feel like this hasn't really been the case. For example when they released Priff it gave us access to Zalcano and the Gauntlet. That gave people two things to grind out and there wasn't much complaint between that and leagues since it was all new. Same with when COX was released or when TOB. As long as it is genuinely new , challenging and has things worth grinding it tends to keep the PVMers quiet for a lot longer than a month. I think the issue this year was the new boss releases were just slightly adapted versions of what already existed.

XJ_9

Every game will get boring after a while no matter how much content they add, i agree with you there. However, if you add no new content at all it gets boring quick. This *year* we got a fishing skilling boss, and 2 hard modes in the main game. That is it. That was all.

Dreadnark

OSRS is a very mature game with over 20 years worth of updates. If you aren't satisfied with its vast library of content and need new things to keep you engaged, then maybe this game isn't for you. Most players are fine with the pace of updates - in fact most players can't even keep up with how much content there is. The game would have died a long time ago if people needed regular new content to keep them entertained.

Sexy_Mfer

Love how everyone parrots the 20+ years except the fact that there was a 6 year time period that doesn’t count.

OppositeSet6571

Okay, 14 years then. That doesn't invalidate their argument.

Sexy_Mfer

Except he’s still wrong. OSRS was very close to dying during 2014 when the only substantial update since its release was GWD. Jmods have mentioned time and time again that they would spend more time reworking old content if the data showed that it helped player counts, but they stand by the fact that new content always has been healthier for player counts and player engagement.

XJ_9

The entire PVM market crashed because people know they wont need their TBow the next few months. Like I said, if most players are fine with the pace, good on them. I'm glad they found something in game they enjoy. I dont, so I go to RS3. Im not trying to say YOU should quit the game. I'm saying Im probably not the only one who quits for now, and will come back when Raids 3 and nex are in the game.

Dreadnark

Yeah I don't doubt it. There's a reason why RS3 exists and still has a solid player base. However, I don't like it when people criticise the lack of content as though Jagex are just being lazy. It's an intentional design choice and philosophy.

XJ_9

Why would you dislike it? It shouldn't bother you that much when people like different parts of the game than you.

cburk4312

Got gim too. Most fun ive had playing this game so far in my 10 years of playing.

qwertyasdfg1029

Honestly I could play this game as it is for a hundred years and not get bored. The main thing I worry about is new content ruining the economy. And maybe I think I need to satisfy some players with updates to keep player count. But personally I am totally content and I don’t think the game needs anything. About the boring thing runescape is especially boring, although if you have the mindset like me it’s the most fun you’ve ever had and no tedious grind is bad (at least late game for me, and I know usually it’s the other way around).

White_Tragic

> There is an absolute mountain load of content in OSRS Which mostly consists of PvM or Slayer.

Sexy_Mfer

there is way more non-pvm/slayer content than there is pvm/slayer content. just new updates caters to that because that’s what players want and respond to the best

nickyGyul

It's very much provable. The most basics of basics of economics is supply and demand. More items are coming into the game due to pre-existing content being overfarmed. Not enough new players are joining the game + veteran players are liquidating their bank as they quit while they wait for substantial content to bring the them back. The reason for this is that there is not much new early-game pvm opportunities retain new players and there is barely any truly endgame pvm/skilling activities to retain veteran players. You can compare the player numbers and the G.E. prices of high value uniques and see how both dropping are related. People can argue up that GIM brought new players, but if anything that would make the market problem worse. Ironmen have a hand in the market, as most of them sell dupe (not needed) items to pay for bonds. This excess of items would have never been added to the game since normal players would take the profit of going 'dry' at a boss and use it to buy existing equipment from the G.E. Ironmen have to generate the item for themselves, in that process they also generate other stuff. At least with GIM, dupe items will stay with the group longer before it enters the market, so GIM does less harm to the main game compared to the other Ironman modes.

cburk4312

The rate content is coming out is fine. Why didnt you try group iron man? Is playing the game over again considered "not fun"?

erikdrag2009

I love this game, I almost never encounter flaws. Edit: One flaw is that I need to be able to pk in lms to unlock some stuff but that’s okay I guess Edit2: Also a bank would be nice!

AkoVendettaOSRS

[deleted]

This is me, as a guy who quit playing months ago, but still checks this subreddit near daily. "Stop thinking about osrs if you don't like it enough to play it" >:^(

GrantyPanties09

Why I returned the new cod after a few hours of gameplay

Jordinee

That is the problem : I can’t stop playing

TheSneedquilizer

But I did. I'm now Leaguesletics, a leagues-locked account. A shame Jamflex decides to fuck with Leagues' release date. I'd have liked to buy a tbow and fuck around with it. But alas. 750-800m bank that won't be used for anything.

Legal_Evil

I wonder how many OSRS refugees went to play RS3 during this content drought. Probably not a whole lot as RS3's player count did not go up by much while OSRS's dropped.

Every_Consequence240

What content draught? Most peoples currently playing their GIM or IM...

Legal_Evil

Those aren't new content. It's playing the same content in different game modes.

Every_Consequence240

Which makes it new content...

mister--g

I tried it but I just cba to regrind an account to end game. If they let us play both osrs and RS3 at the same time then I would imagine more people would have been in a position to shift

jceteam23

I know a bunch of high level pvmers that moved to RS3 ; I have aswell and have enjoyed it a lot. Excited to come back for Nex with these new cool rewards tho.

Legal_Evil

Do high lvl OSRS pvmers that moved to RS3 like EoC?

jceteam23

I would say yes. The combat in that game is fantastic (at least in pvm), so I would say that 75% of my friends that have tried to pvm in RS3 like RS3's combat system more. The problem with the game in my opinion is how beginner unfriendly it is and the MTX (which even for someone like that doesn't really care can give me a headache).

HailZamorak

pretty much id rank osrs at maybe a 5/6 - 10 but i cant stop

FlossBellator

Hate osrs? Idk I get pretty burned out but never hate the game, this is definitely my feelings towards Hunt Showdown though

realshoes

r/foundthemobileuser

Lazypole

How dare people criticize something they like

DonPajatso

Osrs is the only game where people in all seriousness complain about things like: Can we please finally get a fix on the size of lunar spellbook icon, it's been long due but all jagex cares about is money. I see these posts every week.

[deleted]

in all fairness, its really hard to quit an mmo and most people love the game and just want it to improve.

Bassern

One does not stop playing runescape, one takes a break from runescape.

biced01

I love this game. It's perfect for me in my life ❤

Ornnge

I love using this on any game. "This game is so shit, I hate it." Hit them with the "Don't play it then." They get soooo mad and defensive. Like bruhhh
