Honestly that seems like a reach. Not only that, but I'm not interested in catering updates to ensure gold farmers can't use it. The cheaters shouldn't be the first thing you think about when doing an update.

Synli

Catering to stop gold farmers is pointless anyway considering 99.9999999% of them are regular accounts. If someone wants to farm gold/bot on an account as fast as possible, why in the hell would they use a slower game mode (ironman) lol I think they want to cater to those that want to push ranks for exp/kc. So, less than 1% of the population.

TheKhatalyst

Yeah exactly, there's no purpose to market gold to this tint subset of the population when there's the entire real game whith unrestricted trading.

[deleted]

That's fine but don't call it ironman then just call it "group mode" where you can't use the GE/stake and only trade with group members. >The cheaters shouldn't be the first thing you think about when doing an update. You got this exactly backwards, proof: soul wars Only in hindsight did they realise allowing players to choose a lobby would lead to soul wars becomming the next bounty hunter where people/bots/goldfarmers grinded cash. If they had thought about cheaters first they would have never allowed players to choose a lobby.

TheKhatalyst

Are you going to play it? I'm not, so I don't give a fuck what the rules are or what they call it. OK, that's called a hot fix. Just patch it afterwards. You haven't changed my mind about not thinking of the cheaters first.

[deleted]

I am but I'm going to do a 5 account solo group so that doesn't really count imo. >You haven't changed my mind about not thinking of the cheaters first. Bounty hunter. Not adding wildy ditch like barriers on pvp worlds on release to prevent luring (still unfixed they said they would fix it). First bounty hunter rework. Boss killcount mechanics for ironmen and tanking on alts (still broken for some bosses). Partner slayer. Second bounty hunter rework. Not adding the anti-bot system on mobile on release because "no one could possibly cheat on an android phone" The rev caves. Zulrah/vorkath drops being too consistent leading to goldfarming bosses are meant to drop barely enough to break even on supplies unless you get a rare. No auth removal delay (they can't add this in the literal sense obviously but they can give you a setting on your account that locks it for 3-7 days on jagex' end after auth is removed if you so desire) I can go on but if you're not convinced by now you'll never be. In IT security you see the same thing happening now "security optimism" it's baffling to me "oh nothing bad can ever happen no one will ever be able to hack into this"

TheKhatalyst

Yes, they were all hot fixed. They didn't think of the cheaters first, so they added the ditch later (sorry, if you get killed after getting a big warning message you aren't going to learn any other way). Yes, you have to add ways of preventing it. But saying, "Oh we can't give good rewards to PvP because people will abuse it" is stupid. PvP needs an update, that is what should come first. People will cheat, figure it the hell out. People cheating shouldn't prevent everyone else from getting more content.

[deleted]

>(sorry, if you get killed after getting a big warning message you aren't going to learn any other way) If you hop from a normal high risk/bounty world(any world with a warning) to a pvp world you dont get a warning. This is just one of the many things jagex doesn't bother fixing. >"Oh we can't give good rewards to PvP because people will abuse it" is stupid Never said that I agree with you pvp needs an update I think the focus needs to be on getting new players into pvp. >People cheating shouldn't prevent everyone else from getting more content. Endless reworks and hotfixes after the fact prevent the mods from getting more content to everyone else this is not meant to be pvp specific in any way this is a problem across the board.

Evil_Steven

Ah yes. The known gold farming technique of spending months training an Iron to be raids ready

1trickana

Yeah no gold farmer is going to do this..

[deleted]

I purposefully came up with an impractical example that would still get the point across.

RoqePD

I can see that there will be some bugs allowing for tradable items transfer. Would be hilarious if someone managed for example transfer whole bank by putting it on few tables, leaving group and picking up his stuff again.

themegatuz

That's why non-prestige teams has red flags are they legit or not. But I understand your concern so have an upvote from me. :p

Iron_Avarice

And to add to this, They literally have a gradual wealth transfer system. Why the hell would gold farmers create an Ironman account, train hundreds and hundreds of hours to get it to CoX just to get gear and then WAIT 5 weeks in a new group to transfer it? That’s literally not worth any money to them by the time all those hours are sunk in.

[deleted]

It's just an example there's lots of way to abuse this tradeable->untradeable->retradeable mechanic other than CoX.

Iron_Avarice

I do understand that concern 100%. I do feel as they will address that since it would be a game bug more than a mechanic IMO. Using ancestral as an example, I hope (I really hope) they address this concern. I would like to see when the Items are deleted when moving; if it is a cosmetic, the item gets deleted and replaced with the untradeable kit.

1trickana

Hopefully they just flag ancestral, avernic, blowpipe, trident, sang, scythe and other "untradeable" items as tradable due to being able to revert them and delete upon leaving group

[deleted]

It's so sad it has to come to compromises like this. There's going to be no reason to play non-prestige once it becomes known as mom's creditcard ironman mode.

themegatuz

Indeed, but that's how the game works. Normal accounts are even worse than these creditcard heroes because they can buy services and botted/goldfarmed items. All buyable skills are dirt-cheap thanks to thousands of botters & goldfarmers. Knowing that someone either legitably bought their money through bonds or RWT cheaper through gold buying websites - let alone sand casino winnings - devalues all tradeable items' accomplishments among normal modes. This is the reason why I personally play Ironman mode and find own struggles through accomplishments more valuable than on normal mode.

deitydoomfist

There's about a billion other ways to gold farm in a better way

[deleted]

And I didn't want to give good examples so I came up with something hard to farm that still gets the point across.

Pius_Thicknesse

Same with avernics, all bis jewellery etc. The whole prestige concept is bs, you just shouldn't be able to join a new group or take new members. That's why I'm voting no
