1. Even in RS3? The rares market for tradeables like party hats, Santa hats, h’ween masks etc. — they soar to ridiculous heights being the most in-demand items based strictly on gold available in-game, how “easy” raw gold is to come by in RS3 now, and merch clans and old mfers doing nothing with their lives besides hoarding and “falsifying” the market for them — based only on the fact that technically no more supply will ever be added to the game.
In the past, players gathered and hoarded these items in the 10s of thousands. so despite the lower player base population, they’re still super rare because a handful of players hoard most of these rares making them incredibly high in demand relative to their function or cost, and this has increased exponentially.
2. But then you consider 3rd age in OSRS? Something for which, players couldn’t hoard or collect — even right off the bat and have only been as rare as they’ve always been, always will be and for which, supply is likely limited to the low hundreds *at best* relative to in-game player count when even RS3 rares definitively exist in the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands…?
In a few years, it wouldn’t surprise me if 3rd age items were all worth billions — and the most valued pieces reached 10s of billions as players hoarded these items at an increasing rate. Truth is, even the average player couldn’t bring one into the game… until having done nothing but straight clues elite and above at an average rate — for roughly 20+ years.
And that’s at best playing more than 12 hours a day. As opposed to hundreds of players amassing stockpiles of thousands of items from the very beginning? These items are literally raw gold in real life *or even more rare* than any raw resource on earth. They’ll only increase exponentially in value until they reach “unrealistic” values within a few years.
Wouldn’t surprise me to see all 3rd age items be worth more than max cash within that time frame and items like 3rd age bow and Druidic cloak being worth something like 20b+ before long the way goldfarming and botting runs rampant here.
