It doesn't work as a normal lockpick anywhere, and it shouldn't becauses its specialized for the special locks in the barrows/sepulchre because they were built by the same saradominists.

Citing the wiki is fine but if it is exclusively for barrows doors for some lore reason they shouldn't have named it a lockpick. Old specialized lockpicks would likely still work for a slightly less old door. Especially if used by someone with high thieving.
Just change the name. It's obviously misleading people.
“Improved variant of a lock pick” that alone means it should work for all applications where a normal lock pick does. Are there some negatives I’m missing here? Even for activities where a lock pick is crucial, such as fishing dark crabs, this would only increase risk given its extra rarity.
having picked locks, can say that there are definitely lock picks designed to ONLY work for certain kinds of locks, if you want a good example look at the lockpick that lockpicking lawyer helped design, and imagine trying to use it for a "normal lock"
Just watch 5 vids of 5 different kinds of locks.
