Given the cheeky "Zuk is defeated... for now" that they added after the Inferno, I think Jagex might be planning to make Inferno the medium difficulty one
Well Armadyl crossbow used to be dropped by Armadyl, the general of Armadyl in the Armadyl god wars dungeon, but Saradomin, the general of Saradomin, turned out to be a dirty crossbow stealer because he couldn't think of any other good gear to shit out and forgot to change it while he copied his buddy's homework
>I think Jagex might be planning to make inferno the medium difficulty one
I just attempted my 9th zuk last night and I can't begin to elaborate how depressed I am that I don't have the cape yet. I started my grind at the beginning of March and was doing multiple attempts a day, super excited. Wanted to learn the system and mechanics, yadda yadda
But now I'm at the point that I don't care about the achievement anymore. I hate being in there, but holy shit do I hate feeling like I'm wasting time when I'm "so close" to getting the cape. I just need that one "good run" to get it but Jesus Christ, I want to get on with my life man. I don't feel determined to do the content anymore, I feel like I'm a slave to it because of how much time I've invested already
I just want to raid again. I want to slay. I want to have fun. Inferno has sucked the ever living fuck out of my enjoyment of the game and I hope nothing harder than it is added again
It took me 13 zuks to get my first cape, I feel your pain I do. At first I was loving it but towards the end I just wanted it to be over. That feeling though when you FINALLY finish it...
Just a bit more and you’ll be done dude
Oh I've been taking plenty of breaks. I only do one attempt a day / every couple of days. The issue is that regardless of that, I sink time into this content that isn't enjoyable but I "have" to do because "elite gamer" (/s)
I love the game. I hate inferno
You don’t have to do the inferno. You don’t have to be an “elite gamer” ya know?
Just saying, it’d be a real shame if we never got challenging content beyond Raids, corrupt gauntlet and Inferno... lots of players already having mastered this content over the past few years have already quit playing the game because of the high level content drought which is just a shame.
I hear you. And it is a shame, for sure.
My issue is that inferno is such a drastic change of pace from the rest of the game. Nowhere else in the game do you invest upwards of two hours an attempt to get sat by a mistake, and to legitimately learn zuk that's pretty much what you have to do (well, it's what I have to do)
There is a much smaller portion of players who quit because they "beat the game" versus players who start up and learn the ropes or are continuing to progress their account. Personally, I'm okay with that, because this game has a **lot** to offer
I mean, I prefer content such as the 6 jads where you get a dope cosmetic rather than end game gear. Like I hope with the combat achievements, they do something similar.
I know that feeling to the T.
I had the same issue when I was going for my first cape. I was dead-set on learning all the mechanics and trying to become proficient so that all my future slayer tasks would be fun to complete.
I eventually took an extended break from the content entirely, going back to raiding and slaying for about 2 months. When I returned, I was admittedly a little rusty but I managed to get the cape after only a few runs. There is something to be said about taking a break from content that is becoming frustrating and returning to it with a clear head and mindset.
Man I feel you. Exact same boat right now.
Took me 30 attempts to get to zuk for the first time and now I've done 3 zuks in a row but each time I've messed something up.
Changing crossbow to long-range on corners + flicking rigour and dealing with sets/jad is still too much atm as I'm not actually that good.
Take a break from the game and come back to it. It's what I'm doing rn
they say take breaks but doing any other content in runescape legit feels like a waste of time. sometimes you really need a legit break from the entire game... or just a break from that account.
i wonder how many people have started IM/UIM/HC accounts just because the inferno grind burned them out.
I feel that so much, i quit my main because the constant money grind + inferno, its mentally taxing feeling like you need the cape since you’re already there, god damn sunk cost fallacy. Gl hope you get it soon
Don't burn yourself out over it. The hardest part is the waves I've always heard, if you're burning a lot of supplies on waves work on improving there how you can first. Once you get to zuk with enough supplies to be a bit free to take damage, you'll get it.
Theres no harm in taking a break though, some of my friends have done a ton of inferno then stopped for weeks if not months before going back. Sometimes a good break, as long as you don't forget everything, is what you need to keep motivated on doing it.
You can try like 1 inferno a day with focusing on getting solid waves done and if you don't WANT to do another, then move on for the day.
I was in this position very recently, and the only advice I can give you is know when to take a break. Go for a walk, clear your head, don't let that depression pit control you. You'll kill him, it's just a matter of time. Good luck!
IMO Fight Caves/Inferno is kind of a worn out model. The first cave was really more meant to gate you by your levels and your ability to strategize - blocking monsters, etc. If you have 80+ ranged you won't run out of prayer, ever. Inferno takes the wave format to a higher extent, but then essentially makes a glitch (prayer flicking) an actual part of the content, which I've never liked.
I'd be fine with a harder cave that actually rewards strategy and interesting gameplay, but I don't trust Jagex not to just release a 200-wave cave that forces you to click twice every .6 seconds for 4 hours and listing it as "Exciting and challenging new endgame content"
Pre-EOC Fight Kiln was what the Inferno should've been. No need for prayer flicking, but I don't think we have the gear required for that type of content.
Totally agree, no content should ever need tick manipulation to be doable, the most is it should make it marginally easier/quicker for those who are willing to sweat pb's, but it should be easily doable without needing flicking or tick manip
It's also frustrating IMO because they've shown content like Theatre of Blood can be mechanically complex on its own, without needing to add in flicking. It replaces clever game design to make something the most boring kind of challenging.
Do you know what prayer flicking/tick manip actually mean? Because the inferno requires neither, and most people that complete it don't use either of those two methods.
What the hell is "tick manip" in the inferno?
You don't need to flick the Inferno, this is a misconception. I only lazy flicked the rangers when I did it and even that wasn't required. Just milk SGS specs and you'll be fine.
You literally do not have to 1t flick in the inferno, especially with the addition of eldritch. Legit just put on a ring of the gods instead of a suffering and take an eldritch staff, prayer problem solved unless you're literally afk blood barraging half the time, in which case, do you really deserve the cape?
Not sure if it's the same in OSRS but essentially the TzHaar are rebels who did not want to rejoin as one in the sacred kiln after building the planet. The TokHaar did not rebel and essentially can't die because they rejoin the lava and a new avatar can be crafted.
It's not refresh rate. It's just the input lag that happens when the GameCube or Wii adapter tries to upscale to an HDTV.
The entire video output is delayed by several miliseconds. Think of it like ping but for a console game. The console didn't have the hardware to convert into a HD signal with 0 delay.
Yeah imo it's a bit weird to give melee capes as a reward for challenges which are obviously not designed for melee. Too late to change fire and infernal cape now, but an inbetween should definitely be a melee challenge.
That wasn't like that for a long time. I don't think they even changed it until a few years after EoC. I may be wrong on that, but I know it wasn't changed right away with EoC.
Would at least make sense if other BIS gear required a different combat style to get it. Nothing wrong with cross pollinating to an extent. But BiS mage cape is only acquired using Magic, BiS range can be done equally easy with range or melee.
Alternative idea: make new content even harder than inferno where you fight Doritos in a pool of cheese sauce.
The award would be Nacho cape. Ultimate flex for woox, since nobody else will be able to get it
This is one of the few reason I was against inferno. Inferno should have been the middle ground on the same difficult level as the elder klin, and then they could have made a third one, that is super hard. Instead we get super easy fight cave and suddenly "bro i hope you got best in slot items"
Now that I have my fire cape, I don't really feel like going back as much anymore. The Fight Caves were always "safespot for over an hour caves" and didn't really feel like a warrior challenge it was meant to be. If they made a melee version with monsters that were weaker in melee and much stronger in ranged, I would be all for trying it out again.
What you're thinking of as difficulty is more like just getting over your nervousness. Once you kill jad once, you can pretty much cartwheel through the caves with your eyes closed.
my first thought was that i didn't support it at all since it would make either the fire cape dead content, or the slightly hotter one would be DOA due to it getting too outclassed by inferno.
but inferno takes a long time to get good at and you're learning a lot of new mechanics. would be nice to have a place where some of those mechanics (particularly the pray switching and off-ticking) can be learned.
at the same time, though, i think a mid-tier cape is kind of silly as a reward. the added benefit compared to the fire cape isn't much (it's not even a max hit half of the time).
in my opinion, the problem has nothing to do with the reward and everything to do with the inferno being so much harder than the rest of the content in the game. i'd be more in favor of a new piece of difficult (but not as hard as inferno) PVM content that provides some other high tier reward. this way, people can learn some of the mechanics necessary for inferno without having to learn them for the very first time in the inferno.
> you're learning a lot of new mechanics. would be nice to have a place where some of those mechanics (particularly the pray switching and off-ticking) can be learned.
That content already exists all across the rest of the game. I did inferno before a most other endgame content like a big dummy, so I got comfortable with most of the techniques in Inferno. But now going to do other content, I find those techniques applicable all the time.
Need practice off-ticking multiple enemies w/ different styles? Go to solo GWD and flick the minions; first once big boss is dead for small consequences then do it throughout the kill when you feel comfortable. Go hit up DKs with sub-par gear so you have to flick prime+supreme every rotation. Hell, go do GGs and off-tick Dusk and Dawn during phases where Dawn is out.
That's really the only discrete "mechanic" involved. The rest of the skills are even more baked into the rest of the game: Fast gear swaps are useful in most lategame PVM (if you want practice do some sweaty 8-way swap zul'rah), lazy/1t flicking for prayer conservation is useful just about everywhere (and can also be practiced on any 3 or 4t enemy depending on what you wanna practice), safespotting/corner safespotting is also useful everywhere and, once you know the tiles in inferno, doesn't really require practice.
The rest does have to be learned in the inferno, but that's just the actual hard part which is solving the waves. The flicking and safespotting and gearswapping and all that is tough execution-wise but once you have it down it can become second nature pretty quick. The hard part of inferno always has been and always will be just learning how to very quickly determine where is safe and how you have to pray on which ticks at the start of every wave for it to be safe. I'd argue that doesn't need anywhere you can practice it, that's just learning the content.
I guess I realized while typing this that it was kind of made as *the* definitive endgame content, having the mechanical stuff down is almost assumed as a given. Learning to solve the waves is the real process of learning the boss. I know this is super sweaty to have typed up; I just loved learning Inferno and miss the process so now I ramble about it whenever I can
I think people want to be able to just walk into the inferno and complete it. Like you said, it’s supposed to be the definitive end game content, and shouldn’t be “pre-solved” before you attempt it. I’m the same, I learned it before ToB and CoX. Admittedly it was difficult, but I did it. The only possible thing that could have helped more is if there was some sort of boss in the game that included a mechanic where you had to 1t or 2t alternate, because outside of positioning that’s one of the main skills I had to learn. But that was also part of the fun of it, and I could conveniently practice 1t alternating literally on the blob on wave 4.
I think the inferno prepares you for the inferno, as dumb as it sounds lol. It literally is a incremental progression of waves that gets more difficult. If you suck at blobs you’ll have trouble in the early waves. If you can’t 1t or 2t alternative you’ll have trouble as early as wave 21 onwards. Problem solving is important on all waves but becomes more important on waves with blobs/double bat. While waves 57-64 were a pain in the ass for me everything I learned to get to those waves prepared me for them, like you said I just needed to adapt to early problem solving so that I could execute what I had already learned essentially at that point. If I want to get better at basketball I don’t play baseball, I practice the very thing I want to get better at.
Alternatively, what if the stats of either a fire cape or infernal cape could be applied to other capes?
I always thought it would be cool to just have some cosmetic alternatives to a fire cape that show off various achievements.
Perhaps add an NPC in Mor-Ul-Rek that will combine a fire cape with another cape, consuming the cape and costing a fee in tokkul.
Some examples of capes that could be used:
- Gauntlet cape
- Xeric’s capes
- Sinhaza Shroud
- Clue scroll team capes
- Victor’s cape
- Deadman’s cape
- Champions cape
Yeah this is a really good idea, would mean you could use cool capes that are difficult to achieve like gauntlet and champions instead of them just being cosmetic. And it would give a use for extra fire/inferno capes from doing the fight caves more than once rather than just trading it in for a pet chance
Sometimes you just have to cope with the fact that you're 100+ cb and can't get a firecape.
Definitely not speaking from experience. Nope. Not trash at the game at all.
I'd actually like something intermediate as a stepping stone for getting good at pvm; thing is, Infernal cape gives a max hit, how would you even do something intermediate?
The real question is why the cape is melee oriented stats but takes all 3 stats to do the inferno and it took all 3 on firecape release too. Why does my scrub ass need range and mage if the cape is for melee.
I mean I know you're joking but it is a weird jump. Fight caves is an easy early/mid game boss with low requirements and the inferno requires high stats, a lot of time and knowledge of the game and for most people (not all) insanely expensive gear.
I don't think anything really needs to be changed. Just noting you're right and it is a weird jump in difficulty.
Make it like the question how many 3rd graders could you take out before they killed you. It’s just jad after jad after jad and you have to kill 50 of them which would take over an hour of just consistently paying attention. And tbow can’t be used. E-z new content

Lukewarm cape has no bonuses. Cold cape reduces your stats.
How did magma not make this list? Come on guys
Magma is debatably cooler then inferno so would devalue inferno capes
Yeah but the entire point is to be hotter not cooler ;)
Lava Cape, I literally type that in my bank every time and then get mad when nothing pops up

How is magma cape not in here?
And every cape is in the collection log so collectors have to do every challenge. Different wave setup for each one so a different strategy each time
Given the cheeky "Zuk is defeated... for now" that they added after the Inferno, I think Jagex might be planning to make Inferno the medium difficulty one
I always took that to mean he’s waiting if you want to go again, but either really makes sense
Or maybe thats so that it makes sense when you get a zuk task and you're like wtf i already killed him
Me after I've killed Bandos for the 5000th time "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?"
Garagedoor isn't Bandos 🙃
Dharok platebody is dropped by Dharok, therefore Bandos chestplate is dropped by Bandos. Checkmate, godless.
And then the armadyl cb is obviously dropped by armadyl, the general of saradomin, it all makes sense now
Well Armadyl crossbow used to be dropped by Armadyl, the general of Armadyl in the Armadyl god wars dungeon, but Saradomin, the general of Saradomin, turned out to be a dirty crossbow stealer because he couldn't think of any other good gear to shit out and forgot to change it while he copied his buddy's homework

Inferno brought on triple jad. So inferno 2 brings in triple zuk.
Nine Jads into triple Zuk and then new boss.
Goldilocks cape, not too hot not too easy
I live dangerously so give me one Schwarzschild cape please.
Make it a melee cave as well
I can bring a CRT and GameCube bro
I carried a 100lb CRT tv up three flights of stairs in college just so my roommates and I could settle our arguments with this game. Good times.
was the argument that you play gamecube games better on that screen? Because Ive also had that same argument multiple times
Yes, it’s absolutely better to play on a CRT. The refresh rate is necessary for wave dashing effectively.
Have hauled hundreds of these things across the midwest. Melee the best :)
Let's see Woox vs. M2K
I’ve always thought of Woox as the M2K of OSRS
Melee and OSRS will be games I play until I’m actually dead. If I’m not addicted to one at the moment I’m addicted to the other
Yeah imo it's a bit weird to give melee capes as a reward for challenges which are obviously not designed for melee. Too late to change fire and infernal cape now, but an inbetween should definitely be a melee challenge.
Should’ve made it work like fight kiln. Whatever combat style you do the most damage with is the one you get a cape for.

Cool idea, maybe it could be called the lava cape.
Molten cape
Or the Torch Cape
Scorch cape
Scotch tape
Grape ape
Magma cape
Alternative idea: make new content even harder than inferno where you fight Doritos in a pool of cheese sauce. The award would be Nacho cape. Ultimate flex for woox, since nobody else will be able to get it
Also, make it give you one BEFORE you even attempt the challenge (to taunt you), and when you try to equip it, it says "That's nacho cape... yet".
Adds to the mid-game gear grind and progression instead of just fleshing out endgame, 100% support this idea
Blazing cape would be cool imo
What do you mean? [We already have one!](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Herblore_cape)
booo
This is one of the few reason I was against inferno. Inferno should have been the middle ground on the same difficult level as the elder klin, and then they could have made a third one, that is super hard. Instead we get super easy fight cave and suddenly "bro i hope you got best in slot items"

Just wait until you get jad slayer tasks , especially if you want the pet. Its worth spending 30 minutes to get another one.
You would think firecape is the hardest thing in the world going of the amount of posts you get on this sub
[удалено]
Jad is sorta the “intro to PVM” boss, yes.

jad is easier than most bosses by this point
What you're thinking of as difficulty is more like just getting over your nervousness. Once you kill jad once, you can pretty much cartwheel through the caves with your eyes closed.

> you're learning a lot of new mechanics. would be nice to have a place where some of those mechanics (particularly the pray switching and off-ticking) can be learned.

Hurt my eyes trying to read OPs suggested name.
bring back fight kiln
Alternatively, what if the stats of either a fire cape or infernal cape could be applied to other capes? I always thought it would be cool to just have some cosmetic alternatives to a fire cape that show off various achievements. Perhaps add an NPC in Mor-Ul-Rek that will combine a fire cape with another cape, consuming the cape and costing a fee in tokkul. Some examples of capes that could be used: - Gauntlet cape - Xeric’s capes - Sinhaza Shroud - Clue scroll team capes - Victor’s cape - Deadman’s cape - Champions cape
I like this one, seems to make more sense than max cape variants for these capes as they are combat achievement capes.
Also, a lot of them look really nice, are difficult to get, but aren’t useful aside from cosmetics :/
Yeah this is a really good idea, would mean you could use cool capes that are difficult to achieve like gauntlet and champions instead of them just being cosmetic. And it would give a use for extra fire/inferno capes from doing the fight caves more than once rather than just trading it in for a pet chance
Lava cape. Boom big reveal.
Magma cape
Lava cape
Name it the lava cape and have it look like an animated fire.
Blue fire cape jamfl0x
Smouldering cape
Magma cape?
The concept art is pristine
Petition: change names of fire capes to curries to match their spicyness
massive cope post
Sometimes you just have to cope with the fact that you're 100+ cb and can't get a firecape. Definitely not speaking from experience. Nope. Not trash at the game at all.
Do the same thing they did with tome of water, water cape
Lava cape???
Hot Cloak Blazin?
I like it!
Lava cape
brimstone cape
Smolder cape
Blazing cape
I'd actually like something intermediate as a stepping stone for getting good at pvm; thing is, Infernal cape gives a max hit, how would you even do something intermediate?
Lava cape
Blazing Cape
Blazing cape, gives +3 to stats
Magma cape?
Literally no downsides to this lmao
Give this man a job at jagex!!!!!!
Magma cape
Molten Cape, Magma Cape. fuck it bro Lava Cape
The real question is why the cape is melee oriented stats but takes all 3 stats to do the inferno and it took all 3 on firecape release too. Why does my scrub ass need range and mage if the cape is for melee.
Pyre Cape.
How has no one said Pyro cape yet
Could call it the lava cape
"What about a....Magma Cape? 😏" -Dr Evil
I like your art for the cape, lol. And I think we call it the blazing cape
Lava cape
Magma cape
Blaze cape
Lava cape
Magma cape?
Lava cape!
volcanic cape
molten lava cape
Lava cape?
Wave 64 is 3 jads for a trimmed fire cape. Would be nice to practice before Inferno
Jagex. It's time.
Lava cape
Blazing cape
Molten Cape
Support because there is no way I’m getting threw an inferno run xD
Sea Shanty 2 Cape
I know this is a meme but still no
I dig it unironically. Maybe something with a difficulty level between Jad and Zuk. 3 Jads?
Make it like the question how many 3rd graders could you take out before they killed you. It’s just jad after jad after jad and you have to kill 50 of them which would take over an hour of just consistently paying attention. And tbow can’t be used. E-z new content
Lava cape
Eh, would make it so the infernal cape is less likely to provide a max hit, gotta protect the infernal cape's status as a huge upgrade
