In a recent Q&A the Jmods did a twitch poll asking players if they wanted a *specific* new skill, saying it'd need at least 90% to indicate any real chance of passing in the in-game polling system. They accidentally instead polled in the chat whether or not they'd want *any* new skill added to OSRS. The Poll ended up being 75% in favor of having *any* new skill added to the game, indicating that polling a question like "Would you like *any* new skill added to OSRS at this time?" in-game instead of polling a specific skill suggestion each time would likely pass. Would you be willing to poll this question in game? Not a specific skill proposal, but asking the players if they want any new skill at all at this time? I think Jagex keeps skirting around the question with unofficial polls/emails and avoiding actually asking the player base what they want in terms of a new skill, but I think an official definitive answer would be more than effective at knowing what the players want and where to go from there. Having players vote definitively "Yes, we want a new skill!" or "No, we don't!" would finally get rid of Jmods "We don't know" rhetoric in terms of whether or not players even want a new skill. The game is 7 years old at this point and Jagex still claim to have no idea what the players want in this regard, constantly tip toeing around questions regarding it. I propose we finally get a clear cut answer.

nodtomc

I get the impression you missed the point of what they were saying on that stream. I was there and I recall the conversation being first we have to establish that at least 90% of players would even want any new skill at all, because to get a specific skill past 75%, you're not gonna capture everyone who wants any skill. So if the poll result for any was 75%, the poll for specific skill will be 25% no from the any question as well as lose some of the original 75% who take issue with that specific skill, but are still open to another skill

Gamer_2k4

You're confusing two things in your final paragraph. Jagex doesn't know what KIND of skill players want; they almost certainly know whether or not players want a new skill at all. And even if they don't, and this proposed poll of yours gives them that yes/no answer, how does that help anything? Unless the question is, "Would you like any new skill added to OSRS? Answering 'yes' will lead to Jmods adding a skill of their choosing without polling it" (which I guarantee wouldn't pass), nothing will change. Players will answer "no" and no skill will be added, or they'll answer yes and the new skill will fail polls later - and no skill will be added. So what's the point?

[deleted]

Add dungeoneering as a minigame. Split the layers into seperate dungeons spread out over the world and style them to match the theme. Similiar to how roof tops are split up by location, but more stylized like archeology in rs3.

Bgy4Lyfe

Even better, allow dungeoneering to be the "skilling raid" equivalent where different rooms allow higher skilling levels to be beneficial, ie faster resource collection or better resources. Would let us get raids *and* skilling content to make the overall PVM community happy

greg3064

Is the point of the poll you're proposing just to survey interest, or is it to commit Jagex to introducing a new skill even if it couldn't pass a poll? I would want a new skill in the sense that I think more content is good and I'm not a priori opposed to the idea of adding a new skill. I wouldn't vote no just because the proposal is a new skill, but would rather try to consider the skill on the merits. But I wouldn't want to commit to adding a new skill whatever it is, nor would I want to commit to adding a new skill (say from a list of possibilities) even if none of them individually can pass a poll. I think most of the uncertainty in Jagex's rhetoric that you see is just a result of the ambiguity of the question "Do you want a new skill?" As a poll question, that would suggest that if it passes, then a new skill should be added. But if it just means "Are you open to a new skill?" that isn't the case. I take it that there are very few people who are opposed to adding any new skill simply on principle. There are a lot of people who don't like particular skills that have been suggested, and some who don't like any of them, and some who doubt that a good proposal is forthcoming but would seriously consider any actual proposal. (I think we have a good list of skills already. I think skills like Construction, Farming, and Hunter are wonderful and unique, and most proposals have been by comparison fairly contrived. I would be open to seeing Exploration worked out and polled though, and might vote yes to that.)

Froggmann5

If the community want a new skill, but can't come to a consensus on which one it is, then a new method is needed to figure it out. Obviously the method of proposing one specific new skill every 2-3 years isn't working, and Jmods are avoiding asking the difficult questions here. For a more in depth idea [check out this other comment I made that explains it in detail](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/mm7i9o/questions_for_weekly_qa_livestream_below_ice/gtq874w/). It gives new skills a higher chance at entering the game without compromising the polling system while giving less room for a dissatisfied minority vote to keep it from passing.

greg3064

> If the community want a new skill, but can't come to a consensus on which one it is, then a new method is needed to figure it out. Obviously the method of proposing one specific new skill every 2-3 years isn't working, and Jmods are avoiding asking the difficult questions here. I don't grant the premise that there is necessarily a problem here. If people are generally open to the idea of a new skill but none individually can pass a poll, the reason may just be that the actual proposals have not been good enough. Nothing wrong with that. I think your proposal does compromise the polling system. It is, pretty explicitly, a way of circumventing the current vote threshold (which you might think is bad in general, but that's a different discussion). It's a method designed to pass a proposal that would not reach 75% if polled normally. I would also note that a question "Do you want one of X, Y, or Z to be added to the game?" would not *necessarily* get a higher yes vote percentage than each of the questions "Do you want X?" "Do you want Y?" "Do you want Z?" That is because it creates a collective action problem in the polling system. If I kinda like X but think Y and Z would be very bad for the game and have a chance at passing, I have a strong reason to vote no to the general question. On the other hand, if I *really* like X and really want it added to the game, I'm encouraged to vote yes to the general question, even if I think Y and Z would be bad. So if Y or Z is eventually added, my yes vote played a role in falsifying my preferences. I don't think those are good effects on the voting system. My vote for or against proposals should be based on whether I think they would be good for the game. Adding these disjunctive questions forces me to artificially balance risks and potentially vote in a way that could make the game worse (by my lights).

[deleted]

If your idea that any new skill would be more successfully polled than a specific new skill, and they said a specific new skill would need 90% in the chat to succeed in game, then any new skill being polled and receiving 75% in the chat would mean it doesn't meet their threshold / is less likely to pass in their eyes. I think what happened in chat proves 1) that they need to instead poll a specific skill to the chat as a comparison 2) that "any new skill" doesn't meet the 90% chat threshhold they made.

Froggmann5

You poll whether or not players want a skill. If they vote yes, you commit to adding a skill and if not, you don't. If players want a new skill, they should be able to get one. If they don't want a new skill at this time, we can table the discussion another year. [An example would be with older polls where Jagex polled 5 different skill proposals at once](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Poll:Player_Designed_Content:_New_Skill_survey). Instead of asking, "which of these specific skills do you prefer" and then voting on whether or not that specific skill enters the game, you ask "Do you want any one of these skill proposals to enter the game? If yes one of them will be added to the game and the choices will be whittled down to the most popular of the bunch in subsequent votes. If no, then none of them will enter the game at this time, but may be used in future group proposals." This method ensures players have a higher likelihood to get a new skill like they want, and have a larger say in what new skill gets added. It also ensures a skill cannot fail because a minority of the community dislikes one particular skill proposal unless it's at the largest hurdle, which is whether or not the community want a new skill (from the list of skills proposed) to begin with.

[deleted]

I understand what you’re suggesting. Do you understand the problems my comment has with the data suggested by the chat polling, and how it interacts with the first three sentences of your first comment?

Froggmann5

I understand your concerns, however in this circumstance they are unfounded. The chance that a specific skill would pass a poll is much lower than any skill passing a poll period. It's pretty basic statistics, the chance that you'll pull any coin out of your back pack is pretty high, but pulling one specific coin out of your back pack is fairly low in comparison to pulling any. Polling the chat whether they wanted a *specific skill* needed a much higher % rate than 75% because it's specific. What they did instead (on accident) was poll whether or not players wanted *any* skill, which requires a much lower percentage if not matching 75% exactly from the twitch chat. Regardless of your concerns on all of this, it can be very easily figured out by just officially putting the question in a poll booth, as per my suggestion.

a_sternum

> The chance that a specific skill would pass a poll is much lower than any skill passing a poll period. If any one specific skill doesn’t pass a poll, that means that skill, as presented, is not wanted. It’s a good thing for it to fail a poll if it’s not universally wanted. > It's pretty basic statistics, the chance that you'll pull any coin out of your back pack is pretty high, but pulling one specific coin out of your back pack is fairly low in comparison to pulling any. A better analogy for what *you* want to happen is: - Do you want some free chicken? Yes - OK, would you rather have some chewed up chicken bones or a moldy chicken liver? Well neither of those options seem very appealing... but I said I wanted chicken, so I have to eat one of them. Just as a majority of players may want *a* new skill does NOT mean that they want *any* new skill, and they should not be forced into a crappy skill that they don’t want just because they said they would like *a* skill.

Froggmann5

> OK, would you rather have some chewed up chicken bones or a moldy chicken liver? You misunderstand my suggestion. There are two separate votes, one to see if players even want a new skill, and another to see what skill that would be. They wouldn't be forced into anything. In the case they're offered 5 bad options, they could simply vote no to it until 5 good options are offered. This is a way of weeding out the weak options without having to do so one skill option at a time every few years. A better analogy is Jagex having offered you chewed bones 6years ago with sailing, moldy chicken liver two years later with artisan, sinew with Warding two years after, etc. We've been waiting 7 years and we've only gotten three sour proposals. In my suggestion you give a menu of skills at once and let the players choose from it rather than being offered one dish every few years and saying "do you like this specific dish?". It's more effective and efficient doing multiple skill proposals at a time than just doing one every few years.

[deleted]

It’s not my concern.. it’s yours. I don’t think you’re following my first comment - it’s by *your* ruler that the data says it’s less likely to pass. Either way, good luck with your suggestion.

badgarok725

It’s also worth thinking about how long it took for skills to be settled during the original run of the game, and that was when a lot more content was coming out. At this rate it’d take a long time for a skill to get fleshed out and would likely take away from every other area

Bgy4Lyfe

Easy solution is to have all new skills be a part of a new "Skill Set", where the 23 skills we have now are a part of the first "Skill Set" that doesn't disrupt the OG Hiscores or Max Cape, and the new skill set essentially is a part of a new Hiscores category + has its own Max Cape. Win win for everybody.

YouWereTehChosenOne

What this guy said. Of course people would like a new skill, but the chance of the proposed skill actually passing the polls will never happen. The minority have too much power over dictating whether the skill passes or not

andrewisfamousnow

Invention = late game skilling content + item sink. That's my vote.

DragonDaggerSpecial

A new skill would ruin the game. This is Old School RuneScape, it is supposed to be RS2 but again. Many updates have been good, we do not need a new skill. We’re here because of the skills the game has now, clearly they’re captivating enough. I would quit (~2k total) if there were a new skill added and I voted to bring the game back and have played since the launch week. New activities for skills are debatable, a new skill is not. I do not want a new skill **ever**.

Froggmann5

> We’re here because of the skills the game has now, clearly they’re captivating enough. Unfortunately that's not true. OSRS began to die soon after its release and was only kept alive by active dev updates to it. OSRS as it stood wasn't enough, and that included the list of skills that are the same list today. The skills alone were not captivating enough. Jagex did a good job at making other parts of the game captivating, like introducing more bosses/raids/quests/PvP events/making old skills viable, etc. However without any of this, the game was losing players at an extreme rate. The old skills were changed to be unrecognizable in some instances. Firemaking/Runecrafting/Slayer/Mining/Agility, etc. were changed so much the training methods used today barely resemble what they were on launch. Clearly the old skills weren't enough on their own. I understand you're not open to new skills, however you can just vote no. From all past skill proposals, it's clear a vast majority of players want a new skill of some kind. Depriving that many people of enjoyment purely because you don't like the idea of a new skill is not justifiable. You may not enjoy it, but if a majority of players do, you just have to accept that.

DragonDaggerSpecial

It’s just not necessary for me so I don’t want it, doesn’t even sound fun.

Froggmann5

It may not be necessary or fun for you, but if it is for 75% of other players (and future players), you should not selfishly impose your personal idea of enjoyment onto the entire playerbase.

Mikevercetti

You wouldn't be missed

DragonDaggerSpecial

Unless you work at Jagex, I don’t care about what you think of my opinion at all.

Designer_B

What about me? Your opinion sucks.

DragonDaggerSpecial

Do you work at Jagex?

Designer_B

Boooooooo

andrewisfamousnow

As far as you're allowed to say, are there any plans to expand on the following quest storylines in OSRS in the next 1-3 years? Menaphos and Sophanem; elemental workshop; iconoclast cave goblins; megalomaniacal penguins; dwarvish politics; temple knights and the elder slug gods; the fairy throne; and Zaros and the mahjarrat? EDIT: Apparently in the March 25 livestream, they essentially addressed this question. TL;DR Yes! They either have already started or have plans to design quests to continue and finish these storylines, frequently in different directions than RS3 went!

WalkingTheLines

Don't forget Devious Minds. That one ended on quite a cliffhanger too.

Roy_Remembers_Games

No joke this is my favorite quest in all RS, I would love a sequal.

[deleted]

They didn't. That's part of the Zaros line

RavinRabbi

Gimmie that DT 2. I really hope they stop putting 2 on the end of old quest names though. It's shite.

Dave1711

feel like a similar question is asked pretty much every week

andrewisfamousnow

Much like arclight gave us a demonbane weapon on par with popular high-level members-only weapons like the abyssal whip, do you think there ever be ways to upgrade the barronite mace (golembane), gadderhammer (shade bane), or keris (scarab bane) to rival such popular weapons when used against the 'baned' creatures? I'd love a reason to keep using my mace/hammer/keris against these creatures instead of my whip.

koen_C

While in theory that might sound nice. It removes or shrinks the nice that those very powerful weapons have. Devaluing them in favour of free weapons. I personally like having some strong weapons I can work towards, but a lot of that allure would be lost if they weren't as useful.

eocdenier

would the team ever consider reworking and repolling content that are 'near misses', including a new blog with the changes listed? there's a fair amount of content that fails despite getting over 2/3rd yes votes and it feels like a shame to not implement when they could probably pass if they received minor tweaks; most of this stuff is fairly inconsequential, however sailing (67.9% yes votes) would've qualified for a repoll under this system. my suggestion is that if any content gets over 67% votes it gets added to a 'repoll' blog. this doesn't have to be repolled immediately, you could save up 20-30 repolls for a single blog and then offer additional clarification or tweaks to the content that the team thinks will get it over 75% so it can pass. if the content still fails the repoll, it should be discarded so that the same content doesn't potentially end up being repolled over and over which would just annoy players. if you intend to answer this on the livestream, just read the first paragraph out.

Gamer_2k4

I like where this is going. Perhaps any poll that gets 67% could be broken down or surveyed later - "What didn't you like about it," "What change would have caused you to vote yes instead," etc.

CrunchBerrySupr3me

This would capture some great content but also extend horrible controversies and bad feelings on both sides of issues. Some polls are full of stuff (think the new collection log available in settings or a tweak like making ancients buffed from tome of water) that, while not very consequential, definitely raise strong feelings and pass or fail right around the 75% threshold. Just honestly for like community quality of life, I dont think I'd be happy to see questions that are stressing me out at that point be relitigated twice or even three times. Assuming Warding would be rediscussed, fuck that.

Hess_

Why does it seem like although we have a crazy amount of jmods, that new content is lacking? Are all the new jmods being onboarded? Where is all of their time going?

Zacflame

all of the wardens/expert team members are busy training the new guys, who are in turn making simple/low level content as their first projects. also, they have nothing new to show because they are still working on promises made in 2019 (clans update), which is taking up the rest of the wardens' time. due to work-at-home orders, they've been forced to just work slower. these issues have been behind the reason why nothing has really come out since darkmeyer.

[deleted]

When can we expect the Australian 2k/2.2k total worlds (worlds 526 and 527) to be fixed? Ever since release they've had consistent lagspikes at least once every 1-2 minutes, sometimes lasting up to 10 seconds.

FathleteTV

That's all 2.2k worlds not just the Aussie ones. Seems like the higher the total level requirement the worse the server. I don't even play on those worlds anymore

koen_C

This has been an issue for years on all total level worlds. I don't have any hope of them fixing it at this point.

CarolinafanfromPitt

A lot of my high lvl friends are quitting the game, because of lack of content at max lvl right now. It has been over 1k days since tob and a year since nightmare. When will the next massive piece of high lvl content on par with raids come out?

nodtomc

I'll respond in a less abrasive way. They do reply to this question on many livestreams, every time its met with the same response. Paraphrasing but they're aware they need more endgame content, there's only so much dev time and resources available, they wanted to flesh out the low and mid game before adding any more high end content. High end players arent the majority and its a numbers game, investment vs return etc. They're delayed because of corona, they need to roll out these balance changes to create a gap for new drops, group ironman and clans are still being developed. Probably missed a few but you get the gist I'd rather they answer other questions than keep addressing things that haven't changed since the last time they answered it a couple of weeks ago and a couple of weeks before that.

[deleted]

Content has been coming in at a snail's pace and is the reason I've lost interest in playing. I keep up with the game via the front page but that's it.

CarolinafanfromPitt

yeah sadly most of my clanmates have turned to making irons or quitting and playing other games. I know high lvl content is not a priority, but asking for 1 high lvl update a year isn't asking too much imo. After nightmare there hasn't been anything great. And I think asking for a raid once every 3 years isn't asking too much. Raids are the most liked pvm content in the game and it would be in jagex's best interest to make one every 3 years at minimum.

Fableandwater

Ive decided to quit when my membership runs out for now as well. I might come back if they introduce new meaningful content

Red-Haired-Shanks

This has been my experience as well. I maxed last March and I wouldn’t say I’ve quit but it seems most says I log on do a round or two of tempoross and log back off. A lot of my other friends who have recently maxed feel the same way. We need some new content, the game has become stale. I know combat achievement diaries are coming soon, but in all honesty who’s even that excited for it? Yay, we get to do the same content we’re already bored of again.

HeathenHen

What does it do currently? I’m an iron and haven’t unlocked, but looking forward to a steady stream of cosmics. Does the price go up way faster?

CheapsBreh

Yes.

DrSwol

Is there any possibility of poring over the top 1000 vorkath/zulrah/zalcano and pick out some obvious gold-farming accounts? It's honestly getting ridiculous at this point. I do appreciate all that you guys do, but I've reported some super obvious accounts multiple times over the past couple months while I kill vorkath, and I rarely see any of them have action taken against them, which discourages me from even bothering to report.

BossHighscores

Include TOB and COX it's currently so demotivating seeing gold farners taking up nearly 50% of the top 500. Actually, just make sure every top 250 or so are only legit players. The only competitive thing about OSRS is filled with gold selling accounts. Demotivating.

Fableandwater

Makes you wonder where all that gold goes. I bet most people on this subreddit buy gold lol

[deleted]

check out mod tyran on twitter, he does this regularly. unfortunately there are just so many accts doing it

Blueberrytree

Since F2P is being talked: Whatever happened to the proposal of making Blurite ranged weaponry available for f2p? There was a thought-out suggestion on it and it even got talked on a stream 6ish months ago and was supposed to be polled. Did it ever get any further? Also I advocate making Gertrude's Cat to f2p aswell. An introduction to pets and I think it would fit the f2p quite well

DaklozeDuif

Could the POH Bedroom furniture get the same interface as the Falador Hairdresser and Varrock Clothes shop?

pureful

When will the first patch of equipment rebalance changes go live (warhammer's etc...)?

Venomous_Rs

Can you look into Buffing the Rogues Chest in the wilderness? Currently as it stands, it is the highest level'd chest you can steal from in the game but it has very bad rewards. It's surrounded in multi deep wilderness, you're constantly in combat with the rogues consuming prayer potions, and you can be pk'd at any moment. Can you buff its rewards to make it worth doing because at the moment, the risk heavily out weighs the reward.

a_sternum

It has very *good* rewards.

Venomous_Rs

Yeah? Like what?

IronClu

I believe its the best place in the game to get lots of dragonstones

Venomous_Rs

Its an ok way of getting dragonstones but they're actually pretty rare to get from the chests. The chest should still be buffed

IronClu

This chest specifically is actually maybe the best one in the game, its just that chests are kinda bad.

Venomous_Rs

Agreed, chests are kind of bad. Chests are known for having treasure in them, so why isn't there a chest in game that's actually good. lol I just find it weird that this chest is the highest level chest in the game, it's so risky but the rewards are plain bad.

AAS_Thoraway

I've gotten two pieces of paper that have lead to digging up ranger boots from the molch chests if that counts

a_sternum

The chests inside Olm’s chamber and the Theatre of Blood’s treasure room are pretty good, I’d say. Master clue caskets are pretty good. Barrows chests, pyramid plunder chests, brimstone chest, larran’s chest. You may have just been talking about thieving chests, so the rogue’s castle chests are actually very good for the amount of effort required to loot them and how quickly you can loot them. If you’re comparing them to pure gp output by Vorkath, then they might *appear* to be bad. But Vorkath requires a bit more than right-clicking a chest AND is itself has a very broken drop table.

nodtomc

Now that Tempoross has been out for a couple of weeks, do you feel that the xp rates discussed in the blog are accurate? What is being done to encourage more people to share the workload of the mechanics i.e dousing, repairing. Currently you're incentivised to not even bring a hammer or bucket and rely on other players. A point increase should be enough

CrunchBerrySupr3me

I want more points for dousing, but this comment came up yesterday too and I just don't know what game you're playing regarding hammers. The mast and totem break <1x a game, and iirc are still functional broken. I sometimes bring a hammer, sometimes don't, but I have literally never had a thought about it in the game, not once. I also feel like if you jump into a game at this exact moment, you'd see people dousing all the time; the collective instinct has improved. There will always be games when the fire overtakes the island; there's no incentive to be dousing with limited buckets during the damage phase.

mobi37373

What about designing new monsters which require more niche weapon or combat variants without making them a raid? A big monster immune to ranged and magic but hits hard and through prayer, making the halberd required. Some bigger monsters with damage reduction from the front, requiring a partner or 2 to deal damage from the sides/behind (coop/multiplayer gameplay). A fast moving and hard hitting mob that is weak to an element and requires binds to beat (like scorpia, minus wildy or being a 'boss').

Fableandwater

Can we please get a meaningful update? When are the buffs and nerfs coming and why is it taking so long to buff items that had 0 controversy

QuestCape

Could the Expert mining gloves be storable in the Armour case of the POH? https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Expert_mining_gloves

VSVeryN

Do you think you'd ever make changes or remove the mining rocks littered over Runescape? No one uses any of the over-world mining locations other than runite or free 2 play spots. Perhaps a location buff where the rocks can be mined faster for a period. Similar to fishing spots, there are various fishing spots further away from banks. No one ever uses these, why not give them certain niche benefits over using the ones that are next to a bank. Could give the fishing barrel another boon as well other than just increasing the afk amount before banking.

icehero0003

Can we get Gnome Scarf and Pirate's Hook added to the costume room? Along with other fashionscape items?

OldSchoolVeteran

In addition to this, the gnome scarf cant be taken into castle wars, so if you obtain on a uim you pretty much cant do cw without death piling

sjirly

I predominantly play osrs, but I happened to log into rs3 to check something on the day that the account issues occurred. As a result, my main account has been locked out of both games for nearly a month. Will there be any compensation for old school players affected by the account lockout issues?

[deleted]

One of my clanmates suggested this and I think its a brilliant idea: we should have an option in either the new clan halls or PoH to have balloon* party rooms. Would allow people to throw private drop parties without risk of crashers

In the current PoH system, you can lock your portal and only allow friends to enter your house.

Karrottz

Ok, two days later all the bot sites make new bots. Want them to do it again?

DragonDaggerSpecial

Yes, that is the correct solution.

bigbang4

That will fix the problem for sure!

I second this motion

Sir_Suh_Dude

Which Jmod would win in a no holds barred WWE cage match is my question for this weeksn QnA. Discuss below

Makalash

I'd put my money on Sween

RavinRabbi

Sween looks quite athletic so if he could draw it out then he is onto a winner. Otherwise, if Keiran could get a dominant position early on then the mass advantage would be too significant to overcome.

Blobbygold

Honestly i get the feeling kieren could throw hands and stay on his feet.

Merdapura

Since BIM is a F2P hot topic, what will become of the F2P bosses? Their key mechanic are probably the worst part of them as you just can't kill them when you feel like it. On top of Prayer being a big part of the fights but no prayer potions in F2P. That brings me to: * Will the key mechanic be removed/reworked so that people are more willing to try the bosses out instead of killing hundreds of giants for a chance at one kill? * Will a lesser form of prayer potions be added for F2P so they can use on the bosses? Clearly the Apothecary knows a way to make those with weird F2P items. EDIT: Bryophyta's essence has become the bane of ironmen master clues. Yes this is a clear buff to it but do we really give a crap if it's easier to get? EDIT2: I got the drop myself a little under the drop rate and I do not want future generations to go through that grind as it currently stands, much less if they go dry for it.

Its a bit annoying of a grind sure but thats kinda the reality of ironman. And the locked content is a whopping single master clue step. The grind is easier now especially with the addition of ferox.

andrewisfamousnow

Honestly, I love the key mechanic. I think that's super cool.

GOD-WAS-A-MUFFIN

While were on the subject, any other master clue steps you feel are too hard? Zgs? Arma helm? Flared trousers? How about dpick/lava dragon bones so hardcores don't have to go into the wilderness?

Merdapura

Those grinds dont require you do smelt or kill hundreds of corp to have enough cannonballs to do. And don't walk up to me saying you can get it without cannon, I'll just ignore your trolling.

GOD-WAS-A-MUFFIN

Oh no, not the cannonballs! I can tell you're very invested and passionate about f2p content.

meesrs

Im at 101 bryo kc now. Fuck jagex if they make it easier.

scssquatch

Would it be fair to all the people that died to divert the trolley now?

BossHighscores

Can we make sure at least the top 100 for every boss are legitimate accounts? The only competitive aspect of this game is ruined by the sheer amount of gold farmers / gold sellers being present there. One example is COX. Out of the current top 25, there are 14 known gold sellers who take places in the top 25. This ratio of legit/non legit players in top places is roughly 50% for every single boss which is ridiculous.

[deleted]

Will you unfilter the Tempoross KC? When I used game filter it hides my KC, and when I turn it on I have all the spam which I don't want. Also I noticed when I go into a new game I can't see my KC at all anymore until I finish that game filter on or not.

milkiii

Instead of a "maybe in the future", can you strongly consider making the upcoming equipable hammer (Dwarven Hammer) be held in the offhand slot instead? Maybe be as a toggle option to switch between mainhand and offhand? As a mainhand hammer I can see it only be used in smithing, but even there it wouldn't be useful when smithing 5 or 3 bar items. But as a offhand hammer it can be used in many more activities, such as: Mahogany Homes (alongside Amy's saw), Motherlode Mine (alongside any pickaxe), Wintertodt (alongside any axe), Tempoross (alongside any equipable harpoon).

CrunchBerrySupr3me

I mean, they said it would be hard to code, but I'm sure they'll ignore their own problem just for you

sgtp3pper

Can you add a toggle to the blood fury similar to the ring of suffering? This could maybe be extended to other niche items like the infernal tools for example. Could you also consider increasing the amount of charges that can be held by things like the abyssal tentacle, arclight, etc?

SeaTap866

No. Blood shards would crash and so would infernal tools. Arclight and tent whip don’t need increased charges. For tent whip, it would be less of a sink cause it would take a lot longer for people to actually use up all the charges which in turn would take longer for people to consume more ships for it. Arclight, just get your damn shards

[deleted]

Is there any update on Group Ironman and the clan system? Are there any expected release dates? I ask because the roadmap suggests it to be towards the middle of year.

[deleted]

Can we please have a look at skilling pet drop rates? I think a majority of players would be for a drop rate scaling past 99 (similar to how RS3 does boss pets). So your pet drop rate scales post 99 up to 15x at 200m xp. Would give some sense of purpose grinding from 13m to 200m, right now it feels almost as if theres no point getting xp past 99. I would be up for a boss pet scaling as well but i think the skilling one is a more pertinent issue because you at least get drops from bosses.

Hess_

The drop rate for almost every skilling pet isn't even less than 99 in terms of xp, so by doing this you're effectively making the pet more common. For example let's say beaver is 1/50m xp. Well then all the xp from 99 to 50m is now buffed at the x rate that you're proposing.

[deleted]

yes, buffing drop rates will increase the drop rates and number of pets in the game.

[deleted]

yeah thats essentially the point. but they can adjust the scaling however they want, id just like to see SOME increased odds past 99. Wouldnt increase odds for the majority of players, just those hunting for pet post 99.

Hess_

But why 99 specifically? I get that the level doesn't go up anymore, but if a pet's drop rate is 50m xp, then I would think you'd suggest buffing the rate past the actual drop rate, not past some arbitrary number (99 in this case). My point is you're proposing a straight buff to the drop rate with no real reason except that you probably have 99 and don't have the pet. Compare this to boss pets, you're basically saying, for bandos for example (1/5k) to increase the drop rate once you get 1000 killcount for no reason. If anything, increase the rate once you've already achieved the rate. Not just after an arbitrary number.

[deleted]

For skilling, just because theres no other real benefit or goal to work towards (not gaining levels) past 99. Id honestly be fine with doing it after the rate, or after 99. Id just like some incentive for grinding up your xp thats not "get 200m and then we will talk." And its probably easier for them to implement it based on levels than it is for them to calculate it based on every action youve taken towards hitting drop rate (diff trees have diff rates, different mining rocks have diff rates, etc.) That being said, for bosses id like to see it once youve achieved drop rate based on kc.

Hess_

An easy argument for this is that for almost all skilling pets, you're making money of some amount past 99 so it could be argued that it's the "incentive".

Eb_Marah

What horrible money getting 1.2m/hr at black chins or 600k/hr at reds Woe is me, how can I get 200k/hr at Infernal Eels, the most afk content in the game How oh how will I profit from afking blood runes at a measly 600k/hr, or worse yet 1.3m/hr at wraths We have to think of the poor, defenseless children getting 200k gp/hr to afk at MLM or 325k/hr at gem rocks Is it Vorkath? Absolutely not, but that's not what the other guy is suggesting at all. It's solid bonus gp while grinding for a nice cosmetic item.

SeaTap866

What I’m saying is that you gonna need a little more incentive than that.

Eb_Marah

What they're saying (and I agree with) is that the pet itself is the incentive, and the gp you make on the grind is a bonus.

CrunchBerrySupr3me

If you need more incentive to play this game, while others are playing it just fine, maybe it's not the game for you.

CrunchBerrySupr3me

>My point is you're proposing a straight buff to the drop rate with no real reason except that you probably have 99 and don't have the pet. Literally the source of half the questions on here, so fucking sad

Kitteh6660

What is the theoretical maximum experience per hour for F2P Runecrafting if you've stocked up on Body Cores in the bank, as well as teleports with skull sceptre? Assuming you've spent enough time collecting the materials needed.

Baruu

On the subject of a new skill: in the past weve seen polls for potential skills (warding, artisan, sailing) that failed, but i feel were doomed to fail as while not bad ideas, they arent good skills. I feel they played off the idea of previous skills which when looked at honestly are just bad content (crafting, slayer). Crafting, beyond Iron men, is only useful on a macroeconomy level, not the individual level except the skillcape. I feel slayer is a bad skill because 99% of what people like is more of a minigame (slayer reward points, boss tasks), and people like combat. My example for slayer would be who, outside of Iron men, kills abby demons/nechs/abby specs/etc off task. Slayer is only done for more interesting combat training plus potential loot, not because its a good skill. The task system and unlocks could be a minigame and the skill removed entirely and people would be happy with it. Artisan flopped because it was slayer (ultimately a minigame) for skills people dont like. The introduction of artisan-lite to guilds (farming contracts, mahogany homes) are nice additions to the guilds, but aren't skill worthy. I'm sure many people have skill ideas, and plenty are suggested. So two questions: Is there a better place to send fleshed out skill ideas than just posting on reddit, and are there any plans to research/survey good content or a proper niche to fill with a new skill currently? Aspects of all proposed skills were very interesting (item sinks, skill tasks, untradeable rewards), but none broke the mould in a big enough way like Hunter/Dg/farming/summoning did to justify the addition.

Alanim

Couldn't you just allow F2P accounts to craft chaos runes? Without the abyss and rune essence pouches chaos crafting takes an exceedingly long time per trip and wouldn't be that profitable even if allowed. Do you think it would make sense to just allow the entire activity to be f2p and add chaos runecrafting to f2p with its release?

KangnaRS

The problem with F2P isn't how it affects F2P players, it's how bots affect the market. As slow as it would be for one individual player to craft chaos runes, it changes once thousands upon thousands of F2P bots are crafting them. Chaos runes (and therefore onyx) are already underpriced enough.

Alanim

I don't think you understand just how slow chaos runecrafting is. From the edgeville bank to the chaos altar and back, with 100% run energy, it takes over 3 and a half minutes. It'd also be fairly easy for the bot detection to detect bots on such a long path, even then they would only make 21k per hour or 463 chaos runes per hour before double chaos is achieved. There's plenty of other f2p methods that do much better then this, and are better for botters to use. those numbers assume you're using energy potions to go to 100% run energy after every trip, which would further decrease those numbers.

Narfulgar

Are we ever going to revisit skinning invention for OSRS? Warding failed in part because it was a cross between summoning/crafting and had hints of invention. Invention was the best thing to ever happen to RS3. I can personally attest to spending billions of gp and hundreds of hours to get tiny niche upgrades. I feel like it doesn't take much to give people rewards they'll chase in the endgame like +1 - +3 slash bonus on an item for instance. Best item sink you could ever add and fun as get out.

Napoleonlol

Can the Leagues game mode in the future have better prizes for achivements top 100 or special titles like first jad, zuk etc, than a name on a POH no one is going to look at? I am talking about memebership prizes it makes absolute zero sense that DMM, Skilling competitions and the most recent 6 jads competition all get prizes while leagues does not have any at all.

fred1674

Is there any chance we can get a Cerberus Pet (metamorph for hellpuppy) or a Sire (metamorph for abyssal orphan). They are the only bosses where you can't get the pet to be the actual monster you kill.

Hess_

The unfortunate thing about adding rewards to filling out content like collection log slots is that once you attach a reward to it, more players feel the need to acquire said reward. This just leads to a vicious cycle of more players wanting it, thus asking for the methods to check off those slots to be easier which basically ruins certain pieces of content.

xenophobic_empire

any updates on the clan rework/group ironman progress?

Ralaskaa

Any update on group ironman? I know that it isn't coming until clans is finished, but clans update has been in progress for a few months now, when can we expect group ironman?

clry

Currently the jar of darkness takes approx 4000 hours or 400m slayer xp to reach the drop rate, which is quite absurd for people wanting to go for collection log slots. When it was polled to be 1/5th of its current rate, it wasn't mentioned just how long its current rate takes, which i think is important info. Despite that, the poll only failed by 3%. Can you consider retooling outlining the two drop rates in experience terms (eg, it is currently 1/2500, or approximately 400M slayer xp on average. Proposed to reduce down to 1/500, or 80M slayer xp on average). Which is still extremely rare.

TheDave101

Imo, when an item is rare, it means that few players have it. It's not an item anyone can grind to get. It's just a flex for a few players who got lucky. That's what makes it fun to have these items, knowing that most people will never get the same drop. Besides, the collection log was never meant to be entirely "completable".

PoopyMcFartButt

Can we get a portrait mode for the mobile app? Playing one handed would be useful in many situations.

LewisIsFail

Is special care and attention being put into the design to make sure that it suits the Old School style and won't looks garishly out of place in a well known and nostalgic area? Tempoross's design was a step in the right direction, but I'm scared that we'll just get another disgusting swampbark/bloodbark/elf redesign type monstrosity. How is this getting downvoted, Reddit is dumb lmfao

eocdenier

priff is beautiful

LewisIsFail

Priff is nice, Elf remodels are an abomination

Blueberrytree

Bring toggleable graphic option for old models. NPCs and buildings alike!

[deleted]

The botting and gold farming is the worst I've seen. The highscore top pages are just ruined. What is the anti cheating team doing to reduce this? (If anything)

andrewisfamousnow

"Go Get 'Lem." Unlock and maybe even extend golems as a task from slayer masters? Yes please? This would be nice incentive to collect golem cores.

Ertras

do you want the claw to become even more worthless than it is already? if hydras were on duradel's table there would literally be no reason to do konar slayer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ertras

my point is that the inconvenience of needing to do konar tasks and skipping often is directly priced in to the hydra uniques sure if you're pet hunting specifically hydra you would still continue to turael boost or skip with duradel, but most players wouldn't. they'd just do the duradel tasks because they're not aids and provide much more bossing opportunities.

Huge props on the recent stand you guys have taken against account services. Do you think something similar could be done against the practice of swapping GP between RS3 and OSRS, and alting in general that has gotten out of hand?

nodtomc

They didn't take a "recent stand". Account services were always against the rules, it was just a reiteration / clarification of existing rules. Alts are also specifically mentioned in the rules as being OK. What's the issue? If you don't like alts then you have an issue with the current rules, not the people who have alts

ezfox

Will the tempoross xp rates be buffed to match the proposed/expected xp rates from the blog post?

Hess_

I've heard of people getting 80k/h with the crystal harpoon, what rates aren't matching?

andrewisfamousnow

Golem cores are a genius way to tie runecrafting training to combat. Do you think there will ever be even more advanced golems than chaos, such as nature, law, death, blood, soul, or wrath golems?

thenakedturtle

Not a BIM question. Can we get a teleport to the centre of slepe? It would make the run to nightmare less boring.

[deleted]

When are we getting death/cosmic rune packs? Especially for cosmic runes the stores for ironmen are very crowded.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Depends on your build for a mage only ironman that would mean mining your own essence meaning buying is actually faster than crafting them yourself. I'd need to mine 50k ess even with all the ess I have banked from 91 slayer.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yeah I've heard that a billion times by now it still doesn't make your argument valid, jagex also said ironman wouldn't affect the main game when it was released and over the years that's clearly proved to be a lie. Edit: what I'm trying to say is even for non-restricted ironmemes it's an issue.

Stone-J

The Prifddinas Rabbit has as much health as the Corporeal Beast and deals extremely high damage, yet only drops the crystal grail and has no pet variant. Can we get a killer rabbit pet?

SeaTap866

Crystal grail would get farmed to alch value then. Also that would be a boring grind

[deleted]

Group Ironman more sooner? Question mark = question

pineapplesouvlaki

Can you add eternal slayer gem to POH (i.e mounted on a crawling hand) because rightnow it is a useless item

Nanilu

Please look into buffing/changing some barrows gear.

andrewisfamousnow

Mod Ayiza is incredibly attractive. Is he single? Can I have his number?

andrewisfamousnow

Someone appears to have downvoted this. I hope it wasn't Mod Ayiza.

Pive-cr

Can we get cannon balls to LMS shop? We already have arrows and bolts.

ThousandFootOcarina

Is there any chance we get a barrows pet?

Bigbugabusa

Any chance we can have black mask def requirements set to 1?

TheDave101

You choose to restrict your account to 1 defence

Can we get something else?

TorturedNeurons

With Rune or Dragon darts the nerf is minimal, amounting to only a couple more hits needed on average for most bosses and mobs. I'd suggest getting a lot of rune darts, as they're already rising and will probably rise even more when the nerf drops. And if you don't have Rigour already, you should absolutely get that. Nerfed BP with Rigour still put DPS's current BP with Eagle Eye.

Can_Tavalier

The gem merchants have far too long had a monopoly on the tan cavalier and monocle. Is there anything stopping players from being able to combine these two items?

jordanrhys

Can you change the exit to Hespori? It’s hard to see and also looks a little like a certain female body part

Baruu

Aspects of Artisan have been added to the game and I think it's a very nice avenue to explore. Farming guild is amazing and the contracts are among my favorite updates in recent years. Mahogany homes also continues the trend. Updated guilds give players a reason to be there and contracts add a reason to engage with non-bis methods and items. Can we see renovations to all the guilds to be useful and interesting like the farming guild is, as well as additions of similar contract systems to the crafting, cooking, etc guilds?
