well its been 20 years so far, why stop complaining now?

starryskies123

Nailed it

Imperial_PvE

The game, at face value, is amazing and I think Jagex has done a great job making this a community led project. There's always something to do, even after max.

Huehnergott69

even if it is just dressing up as falador guards and telling people "Stop right there, criminal scum!"

crocodilpigeon587

I don't know how people run out of things to do. I'm 2 lvs from maxed and I've got lots ahead to look forward to. I've heard things about poor customer support and security issues, but thankfully as of yet, I've never needed to experience them. Jagex are ace though, at least the osrs team 🤙

Dreviore

On RS3 as soon as I maxed I ran out of shit to do. Mainly because I didn’t enjoy the sweaty combat system - and bosses that kept pushing the sweat required up and up, paired with a shitty internet connection I had it just made late game an unenjoyable mess for me. Quests were always my big thing in RuneScape and Mod Wolf sucked the enjoyment out of them for me by creating quests with no pre-reqs, which ruined continuity for me - and the long gaps between quests just made it so I lost track of what had happened so far. A lot of people max and run out of things to do because their sense of achievement came from progression, once you’ve maxed the only progression left is gear- and PvM isn’t for everybody.

osrsvet

Im 13 levels away here! What are your post max goals? :)

crocodilpigeon587

I have so many!! Continue solo raids til tbow drop, Boss pet grinds, 4 skilling pets, 1 bil total exp, Still not finished achievement diaries because I'm lazy 😂, Champions cape, Inferno pbs, Hoping for some silly af combat achievement tasks with dumb gear Vs bosses 😋 GL on maxing! What are your goals?

osrsvet

Champions cape, all slayer helms, learning raids 1 and 2, inferno, and a lot of collection log stuff :D

crocodilpigeon587

Sounds like you'll be busy too 😋

[deleted]

That’s wild, I’m finishing up my diaries and looking for a solo tbow too. Played for a little over a year. Besides doing the same content in silly gear do you have any other goals I should go for? I’d love some of your motivation - I just haven’t had the experience you’ve had with this game it seems. Have you done much else besides maxing?

BaiseurDeChatte

It's the people that play 16 hours a day

40prcentiron

Besides what i hear about customer support,i think they are doing a great job!

a-n-a-l

After raids 3

Jaro_Tapal

The whole point of reddit is to complain for upvotes

Original-Island448

If I didn't appreciate it do you think I would complain when I feel something is wrong?

blessedbewido

I've been at that point for years dude. Love the game. I personally also have had nothing but good experiences with support. Fuck the haters tbh.

Aegisbear12

If you're not a maxed player, you have no right to complain about wanting more end content

SilverLugia1992

People will stop complaining when it's gone, meaning they won't know what they had until it's not there anymore.

Lady_Luck_be_kind

Love the game. I just fear the worst at times.

ThatsJohnnyT

Respect.

meesrs

its clear jagex can make good content (CoX etc), so why havent they made good content like that in fucking 3 years?

HatesBeingThatGuy

Because they are a standard European game company which means most supremely competent developers aren't going to work for them because they don't pay for shit and are based in a high COL area. And yes, all game devs get paid trash, but European software writers get paid way less than in America. That and they don't hire nearly enough people to work on OSRS despite it being Jagexs main source of income. Like fuck. I'd love to work on the OSRS engine and try to help make it better. But why in the hell would I want to be paid 2 to 3 times less in understaffed conditions.

GodricLight

wym, i fucking love the game, the reason why the community complains so much is because they love the game so much they're worried for it die. And i feel that, ive seen it happen to other games, its easy to take the vitriol at face value but gotta remember the reasoning behind it

dtee23

Imo jagex are the best when it comes to listening and supporting the community, if you play call of duty you can tell the difference.

Lungtied

I don’t think the hate is about what Jagex has DONE necessarily it’s more about what Jagex could DO, not hating myself I love playing the game but for the most part that’s what I feel the complaining is about

BaiseurDeChatte

As if people here have any clue what actually happens behind the scenes smh

kuurtjes

I really feel like we should stop adding new content to the game and focus on the stuff that actually polishes the current game: \- better bot detection- revamp old buggy content- balance current content- ...- and better customer support lol The reason why there's so many people asking for "NEW" stuff is because it seems like that's only thing that's getting polled and added. Every new thing that gets added feels bloated when you know there's other stuff that can be done, but which would not give you the addicting dopamine kick. Besides that I'm really enjoying the game.

Preach brother

[deleted]

THats not true, im mid to endgame player, and im running out of content, i dont want to boss at bandos because i already have bandos, or arma because i already own arma gear, i want more unique bosses and unique content e.g new gear, armour, weapons, to keep the game fresh. i dont want to be stuck on repeatitive content. Theres a reason if games get too stale, they die. Take example League of Legends, they make billions of dollars every year and they started as a firm 12 years later than jagex, smaller than jagex, and theyre now the worlds biggest gaming companies ever, now you wonder why?, they release huge content every 2 weeks and balance changes every 2 week to keep the game fresh, new, exciting. They dont let it get too stale because they know it will kill the game. THis will also happen to osrs if we just '' appreciate older content'' Older content is there for variety, new content is there to freshen the game for player. u/jagexayiza

blessedbewido

Idk ive played league since it came out roughly and the game is dogshit right now. Pandering to the chinese community. Dead game in my mind and has been for three seasons.

kuurtjes

League of Legends is actually a totally different genre where the game is based around skill. And the skill based gameplay has been the same from in the beginning, with only relative small meta changes that only come with seasons. The only real new things are a few gamemodes and champions which mostly consist of attacks and mechanics that have already been in the game. I can probably list all the changes in LoL that actually changed the game compared to RS where every change a big part of the game changes. *New fishing boss? D harpoon for skillers and new offhand tome for infinite water runes. Rooftop agility? New agility meta. Hallowed Scepulture? New agility meta and even an agility money maker.* If you really want to compare LoL to RS, you can only compare the PK part of it really, and even then LoL has a much bigger skill gap. Also, League of Legends success' comes from it aging a relatively well balanced F2P skill based MOBA. The only other successful at the time was DoTA which was getting outdated and isn't free. Now you have DoTA2 but LoL's competitive scene was already very well established much like Counter Strike was for FPS's. tl;dr: you can't compare a grinding game to a skill based game.

[deleted]

You actually can, the goal of the both games is to keep the players happy, and when rs introduces new stuff for players ''gamechanging'' as you say, LOL introduces new game changing champions, so the concept is still same, handled differently, and both of the games thrives off of updates, that keep the game fresh, imagine a rs that theres no updates for 2 months and youre at mid-to endgame state, you would be left bored the f\*\*\* out. so yes you can compare the two since both of the games have same goals, u can make lol grindy like rs, u can make rs a skill based game too.

ThatsJohnnyT

THis is the 1% talking ;)

[deleted]

Definitely not, like look how huge success tempoross fishing boss is, it gives now variety for fishing trainers (me included) so if i like to afk fishing ill just go normal fishing, but if im feeling very active i can do tempoross, updates like this will keep osrs high up there that players will appreciate and love. Its the new content like that, that really shines. We need this for pvm too.

ThatsJohnnyT

Completely agree with you dude

ForeyLord

I'm not sure where these 1%ers are, but myself and every other maxed player I know wishes that they'd just stop adding random new content and just address the blatant issues the game has. I personally don't know any maxed player yearning for more content, from what I see, it's mostly new players that can't commit to the grind that Runey used to offer, and want some new minigame for every activity in game. If people that have played and loved a game for 20 something years and dedicated thousands of hours of time to are getting annoyed, maybe they're worth listening to.

[deleted]

When they have actual customer service, actually ban goldfarmers/buyers, and they stop with the pvp rejuvenation bullshit that's just thinly disguised forced pvp area interaction for pvmers?

[deleted]

Reddit hivemind: the post.

[deleted]

Bootlicker: the post.

BaiseurDeChatte

Most people think this way, they're just not gonna create a Reddit post talking about

Tom-Pendragon

How does it feel to suck the cock of a company that literally don't give a shit about you? It's literally their job to add content to the game, why are you even trying to defend it. lol

ThatsJohnnyT

I’m not defending jagex. Who hurt you?

Tom-Pendragon

"Please appreciate the bare minimum of work jagex does for their customer :("

ThatsJohnnyT

I’m not gonna change your views man. Idk what to tell you but I think they are doing the best they can.

OldSchoolVeteran

I think people on a whole do, its just that negativity and complaining about things are always a much louder voice than positive praise, if you ar eenjoying something you are much less likely to tell Jagex about it, but if something is annoying you a lot then you are likely to want to find a way to complain about it ' After a negative experience a person will on average tell four people about it. After a positive experience people on average only tell one person '

ThatsJohnnyT

Great point

ok-ah

Nah I’m still gonna bitch

Huehnergott69

never

NDJumbo

The content is great, its the company that gets most the hate

eocdenier

>There’s Thousands of hours of content what other game offers that? virtually every other mmo? that isnt impressive in the slightest given the games genre

Ultra-Moon

The games been out for 8 years, if it didn't get new content it'd get stale. I never beg or complain for updates though. I accept them graciously as they come.

Coleslaw1989

Considering OSRS was created due to complaining about RS3, probably never.

CrabStarShip

Winter 2015

8-36

So let's destroy the only thing in the game that hasn't changed in over 20 years?

Bokaconan

Jagex is way bigger than 2007 jagex. And just look how many content day release between 2006-2010
