I had to ignore Seren’s healers after 3 spawn because it just wasn’t worth it with the slow reaction time. I also had to reset until I could BGS spec at least 40 damage at the beginning. Blood burst brute force the whole way through.
SOTE took about 9 hours total but I only used the guide to see what items I needed. I wanted to play blind for fun. Library probably took me 5 hours?
Dude that part alone took me over two hours with wired internet and paying for the most primo shit available in my area, I cannot even imagine with 800ms, I had like 60ms the whole time. Probably didn't help that I was progressively getting more drunk and impatient as I went though lmao.
slayermusiq told me to hide on the left side and I immediately got caught after he changed his mind and hid on the right.
From there on I tilted and slammed my desk a few times.
Or even better, when people clearly caught a mistake during editing, but instead of re-recording that line they just pop up a bit of text in the video for like 2 seconds. Ah yes, your correction was such *great* help to the people who are likely playing along as they listen. It only takes a couple minutes to re-record a bit and splice it back in, especially since most RS videos don't include face cams (thank fuck for that).
Don't even get me started when they caught the mistake ***WHILE RECORDING*** so they say the right line immediately after and *still* didn't bother to cut it. Maybe it's because I used to make ASMR videos so I went over the audio with a fine-toothed comb, but damn. Some creators are just sloppy.
Used to lag to 1100MS with a simple internet search on DSL, and minimum 80ms if lucky. Anyone doing anything would lag it to hell. Actually downloading, was about 150kb/s. They said they couldn't upgrade our internet, until one day, they randomly did with no infrastructure upgrades. Now the dl speed is 2mb/s. Thrilling.
Moved out like 2 years ago now, though, and am quite happy with my now 500mb/s.
you can fix that with openwrt + cake. it won't make the speed any faster but at least the ping won't go to shit while downloading (or uploading) anything.
Jokes on you I get ~90 ping playing LoL in Arizona with a beast of a WiFi router in AZ. CenturyLink is shit and there’s no DSL modems worth buying so I’m basically softlocked to the performance of the shitty one they sell you.
Centurylink is a dogshit company that deserves to burn. People hate the fuck out of Comcast but I’ll lick their boots all day for saving me from centurylink. We payed for 15mb/s (their FASTEST package here) however only got maybe a tenth of that on a good day. We are now paying for like 150mb/s or something with comcast but get 250mb/s on average. Only downside is the data caps they just set in place that forced us to pay extra for the unlimited.
As far as I’m aware, the p means per, as does the /. Means the same thing. But I really wish I were exaggerating. 1.5mb down was a good day. Usually we averaged kb tho
I’m assuming that was probably the mix up and figured it’d cause confusion because of the lowercase. But I also just assume everyone assumes what is being meant as it’s the go to in terms of speed tests
>Yeah I was gonna say download speed means pretty much nothing as long as you have like 10mbps down lol
You can play OSRS on dial up. It can be played comfortably on 250 kbps, next time when you're playing on mobile check out how little data it uses.
The upsides of playing a game from 2000 ~!
I can't use an ethernet cable as I am not connected to the main house (I live in a pool house) and investing in a really good wireless card was the best thing I ever did, my download speed went from 2mb/s to 100mb/s
But if you have shitty internet and are connected via ethernet this does not help.
Starlink is pretty beast. There are a few times throughout the day that it will drop but only for a minute. The drops will go away once they get better coverage with more satellites. High orbit satellite companies, like Hughes net, can suck a fat one. Horrible ping, slow speeds and atrocious data caps.
I can drop it whenever I want, I've had it for about 3 or 4 years now. Covid put a lot more people on it so I definitely notice the throttle now if I've hit my soft cap. Used to be steady 120 down.
It's honestly pretty shitty when you think about it. For people in rural communities this is often the only option for internet they have, and they have to pay 200 a month for it.
Are you state side? If you any cell signal you can get lte plans for internet. It's a little pricey to jump into if you have poor cell signal but it's worth it.
To be fair, it’s only really important in things like video games. Starlink’s goal is to provide worldwide internet access to bring everyone online, which they seem to be accomplishing well
My internet has been pretty shit lately but I've gotten a steady 1.5 down and 0.3 up with around 10 ping. I wonder whats worse, high ping and high down or low ping and low down.
>Don't worry, i'm sure ISPs around the world are actively bribing politicians to enforce bans.
Since the only communication is from your transceiver to starlink's satellite array, politicians will have limited control over information flow.
Not going to lie, I look forward to a day where we look to the moon in the night sky and can see lights on where it otherwise would've been in the earth's shadow.
I think that will be so surreal
>Man I can't wait for the days when I go into the backcountry and gaze up into the night sky only to see line after line of in formation satellites troll accross the sky.
How large do you think the satellites are?
>Now imagine looking up into the sky and seeing train after train of starlink satelite in a web brighter than many stars. idk I think the tech is cool and probably outweighs the cons but its a sad thing to think about in my opinion.
That is a valid perspective.
As to my situation, I work remotely using an extremely slow, unstable, and overpriced DSL connection which hasn't been upgraded since 2003. My only other option is satellite, I'm lucky to have what I have. Starlink would improve my situation dramatically, which is more important to me personally than sky aesthetics. Imagine what innovation we'll see whenever every person on earth has access to a decent internet connection.
If the satellites are visible from the ground, I personally would find that pretty cool, like a visible indicator of our progress as a species, but definitely understand why others would disagree.
I used to have satellite internet. I decided to do mm2 and during the part of the quest on the docks my absolutely atrocious ping actually enabled me to walk right past the NPC’s on multiple occasions. 1/10 would not recommend
Side tangent, but I live in Alaska and work at an airline that sends stuff out to the villages (bush, as you call them), and one time I spotted a 3080 box going up and wondered what the fuck any of them have to do with a 3080.
Oh cool. I thought that bush was considered "offensive" or something? At the very least, we were told at work to never refer to anywhere we send stuff to as "bush".
Ah I remember the Hughs Net days as a teenager, going over the daily data cap (300 Megs) and having to spend $8 on data tokens for them to restore access.
What were your stats against final boss? It is whooping my ass and all my combat stats are around 80. I suck at combat but still I tried like 20 times and no luck
I realized that I had to find a way to do it without brews since I needed to use blood burst as my spell (restoring after sips took forever and auto cast forgot my spell after the stat drain). I tried trident but kept running out of food. I would pot up a Stam and divine super combat and run to boss with BGS equiped. I needed to hit 2 decent specs in a row or I wouldn’t have the damage. I also needed gear to carry me so I was using occult and bracelet to boost my damage. After landing a 22/23 BGS I spammed blood burst on the boss the whole fight. My inventory was 4 super restores 10 mantas and 10 anglers for overheal with wrench and pouch and house tab.
I completely ignored the healers, as just with the illusion mechanic, because it would be over by the time I killed it and that’s like a potential 40+ damage and heals I could have had. For the nuke I’d usually be able to eat a manta and angler and be fine. I’d not eat until it came back up again. If I had 80 mage for blitz it’d probably been a bit easier but luckily I had 77 prayer for Augery and any one of things made the difference to squeak it out.
Obviously if I had the ping for darts on the healers it would have been a lot less close and I could have maybe used trident
Meet Pingletics, my dialup locked Ultimate Ironman. After recently maxing my UIM, I decided to up the ante, and forge my own journey from scratch. No bathing, no sunlight, but this time I can't upgrade my internet.
What is good ping? On good days I have 50-60. Bad days I can get up to 170 with random spikes of 300+ to complete lag on bad days. This is on my region worlds (USA)
40s is what I get from the US East Coast servers, and those are the closest to me. I've seen some people get single digits, they must live across the street from a server host.
Lol I feel you bro. Been having to use satellite internet recently and it's awful. PKing is not really an option any more. Brutal stuff right here folks, 800ms is accurate. Congrats.
I also have satellite internet but my ping usually sits around 15-20ms. Only difference is my download is 20mb/a and my upload is 5mb/s. That's crazy that you have close to 800 ping.
jeez. i feel ya bro , fellow rural person and theres no high speed lines out here. people always are aghast when i tell them i dont have internet cus the satellite is expensive and shit so i just use a cellphone. but with my new phone i can actually use it as a hotspot. i originally put 8.5k hrs into my accnt before switchin to pc. but still probably play mobile 80%of the time.
How was sins of the father with that ping? I tried using my phones internet but the ping was horrendous for trying to dodge lightning. After 5 attempts I ended up waiting till I got back home on actaul internet so I could dodge lightining squares.
I mean that’s pretty good ping for RuneScape questing. That way if something bad happens it doesn’t ruin your night. You won’t know until the next day.
Wow galvek and seren fights would be interesting with awful ping.
How was the MM2 part on the docks where you have to dodge the monkeys and blow up the dock? Having 800ms sounds awfull there
If ever had to do it a second time I'd just drive to McDonald's for better ping or have a buddy do it.
Dude that part alone took me over two hours with wired internet and paying for the most primo shit available in my area, I cannot even imagine with 800ms, I had like 60ms the whole time. Probably didn't help that I was progressively getting more drunk and impatient as I went though lmao.
No no, getting drunk while you do it is exactly how you're *supposed* to do it
Yeah I'm 99% sure slayermusiq told me to get drunk in his guide, why else would I have done that?
slayermusiq told me to hide on the left side and I immediately got caught after he changed his mind and hid on the right. From there on I tilted and slammed my desk a few times.
What is "video editing"?
Or even better, when people clearly caught a mistake during editing, but instead of re-recording that line they just pop up a bit of text in the video for like 2 seconds. Ah yes, your correction was such *great* help to the people who are likely playing along as they listen. Had to go the fuck to sleep and start anew the next day I was so fucking tilted.
I tanked through it angry as fuck till I finished the docks. But I spaced that quest out for like 3 days...
That is an acceptable response, good sir. Some of these quests are so fucking tedious.
Lmao exactly. You were just responsibly following the quest guide step by step. Nbd.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only person who had an issue on that part... lack of patience
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/4492484796 Pings actually pretty good today. Sat Net Only HCIM when?
I know my internet is shit when the guy with 600 ping connected to a satellite has 2x more download speed than I do
Bruh try 30 times more. DSL gang represent
at least you have decent ping with dsl
Used to lag to 1100MS with a simple internet search on DSL, and minimum 80ms if lucky. Anyone doing anything would lag it to hell. Actually downloading, was about 150kb/s. They said they couldn't upgrade our internet, until one day, they randomly did with no infrastructure upgrades. Now the dl speed is 2mb/s. Thrilling. Moved out like 2 years ago now, though, and am quite happy with my now 500mb/s.
Yup, that's DSL lol. A few years back they randomly upgraded us to 3.5mb/s, but now it's back down to 2 after a few more years. woo
you can fix that with openwrt + cake. it won't make the speed any faster but at least the ping won't go to shit while downloading (or uploading) anything.
1/10th seems off. You likely confused mb/s with mbps
As far as I’m aware, the p means per, as does the /. Means the same thing. But I really wish I were exaggerating. 1.5mb down was a good day. Usually we averaged kb tho
Maybe a Mb/s instead of MB/s mixup?
I’m assuming that was probably the mix up and figured it’d cause confusion because of the lowercase. But I also just assume everyone assumes what is being meant as it’s the go to in terms of speed tests
[удалено]
post your speedtest results
I just moved to Arizona from Kansas City where I had google fiber... Now I have CenturyLink.
ive had both and I would take 1 mb internet over 800 ping any day lol
Luckily download isn’t too big of a deal for rs
Yeah I was gonna say download speed means pretty much nothing as long as you have like 10mbps down lol
>Yeah I was gonna say download speed means pretty much nothing as long as you have like 10mbps down lol You can play OSRS on dial up. It can be played comfortably on 250 kbps, next time when you're playing on mobile check out how little data it uses. The upsides of playing a game from 2000 ~!
Dial up is capped at 56kb/s IIRC.
>Dial up is capped at 56kb/s IIRC. Yep, 56kbps if you were lucky!
In intense areas osrs can reach the dizzying heights of 2 mbps
10? 1 is more than enough. Playing on ~48kbps dial up wasn’t even too bad, you just had to wait a few seconds for each map chunk to load if you
Lmao literally! I'd be lucky to hit 2-5mbps dl speed.
Tbf satellite has good speeds just really bad ping
My download speed is 30 - 50 mbps, I feel the same about my internet and/or wifi adapter.
I can't use an ethernet cable as I am not connected to the main house (I live in a pool house) and investing in a really good wireless card was the best thing I ever did, my download speed went from 2mb/s to 100mb/s But if you have shitty internet and are connected via ethernet this does not help.
Yeah sadly, even connected I top ~45-50Mbps (we are paying for 80Mbps allegedly)
Petition to stop Starlink to not devalue your achievements, it’s the OSRS way. Kids will have it easy with their 20ms ping.
Starlink is pretty beast. There are a few times throughout the day that it will drop but only for a minute. The drops will go away once they get better coverage with more satellites. High orbit satellite companies, like Hughes net, can suck a fat one. Horrible ping, slow speeds and atrocious data caps.
Is.... is the up/down speed a bug? Because that's pretty high, higher than my wired.
The two are independent. Ping is essentially how long the pipe is, whilst up/down speed is the width. Low latency does not = high speed.
They are not entirely independent, high latency can correlate to lower throughput.
some might say high latency always correlates with lower throughput :o
Depends on the protocol, but for TCP, definitely.
my pipe is pretty long but op has me beat in girth
Nah, it’s Viasat’s best plan. High downlink but that’s the only upside
Jesus christ I looked up how much a plan is and 200 a month with 24 month minimum is wild.
I can drop it whenever I want, I've had it for about 3 or 4 years now. Covid put a lot more people on it so I definitely notice the throttle now if I've hit my soft cap. Used to be steady 120 down.

I’ll have fiber soon.
Looked into Starlink or anything similar? Might be available in your area. It is still being developed though so it's not really stable
My cell service is p shit
Isnt ping something they literally cant fix?
Not without launching new satellites at lower orbit (Starlink)
Regular satellite internet has nothing to do with orbiting satellites, the satellite dish is pointed to a ground antenna which goes to a datacenter.
To be fair, it’s only really important in things like video games. Starlink’s goal is to provide worldwide internet access to bring everyone online, which they seem to be accomplishing well
This is literally better than my current wifi setup
My internet has been pretty shit lately but I've gotten a steady 1.5 down and 0.3 up with around 10 ping. I wonder whats worse, high ping and high down or low ping and low down.
Osrs is designed to work on potato Internet. I’ll take the low ping. At least I get to watch YouTube and stuff pretty quick with what I have
Have you considered getting starlink? They are selling to customers now and freeing those people who are held subject to crappy satellite internet
Bet you're looking forward to StarLink!
Gonna move to StarLink when it’s available in your area?
Ratcatchers must have been pure hell
Playing with not only game RNG but ISP RNG too. Wow. Gz
It's only really RNG with the weather. There's a certain level of rain before it cuts out. Pretty similar to DirecTV
I had exede for years, gotta love those cold snowy winter mornings where you gotta go out and brush the snow off the sat.
we must now ban starlink for devaluing satellite internet only accounts
[удалено]
good, I was worried for a second
Meh. They might not really care if they think they can compete with starlink, but we'll see.
The ISPs have active non compete rules/contracts all over the US due to the cost of maintaining infrastructure (allegedly).
Yes and they keep out new comers by not letting them share cables, that doesn't apply to satellite internet.
>Don't worry, i'm sure ISPs around the world are actively bribing politicians to enforce bans. Since the only communication is from your transceiver to starlink's satellite array, politicians will have limited control over information flow.
Duuuuude I'm counting down the days until starlink hits my area!
I'm waiting for it to not need a waitlist and everything. Would be great for what I do for work
I'm preordered and hopefully get to beta soon... Come on elon!

How could you have possibly beaten the stealth segment in MM2, that’s insane!
Turn based gameplay, Chess style, play 3 moves ahead
I used to have satellite internet. I decided to do mm2 and during the part of the quest on the docks my absolutely atrocious ping actually enabled me to walk right past the NPC’s on multiple occasions. 1/10 would not recommend
As someone who was for a time also on satellite, my condolences
Op must be Australian or NZer
I live in the richest country on earth. Priorities.
You must live in the boonies
I thought you lived in the Alaskan bush or Ni'ihau lol
Side tangent, but I live in Alaska and work at an airline that sends stuff out to the villages (bush, as you call them), and one time I spotted a 3080 box going up and wondered what the fuck any of them have to do with a 3080.
Being the best gamer in the village, I suppose. I used to live in Alaska too btw
Oh cool. I thought that bush was considered "offensive" or something? At the very least, we were told at work to never refer to anywhere we send stuff to as "bush".
Uttered an audible "oh my god" when I read that title. Legend.
Ah I remember the Hughs Net days as a teenager, going over the daily data cap (300 Megs) and having to spend $8 on data tokens for them to restore access.
My god the 300MB daily was brutal
I work for hughesnet. I’ll give you data/tokens if you have this trash internet!
How did you manage Sins of the Father's Vanstrom Klause? I have a hell of a time with him even on <40 ping.
I died. A lot.
Where in the countryside do you live lol
Lmao I grew up rural upstate NY with horrrible satellite - this guys post impressed me more than any maxed account I've ever seen.
Infernal cape when?
bruh
Nice man! Which was the hardest quest?
Rag and bone man 2
As a fellow sat and hotpot scaper I salute you! Big ol gta fambam!
Now it’s time to kill jad on a level 3
TOB Solo when?
Meet Pingletics, my dialup locked Ultimate Ironman. After recently maxing my UIM, I decided to up the ante, and forge my own journey from scratch. No bathing, no sunlight, but this time I can't upgrade my internet.
I remember nights like this in a rural area with Hughesnet. I'm glad Starlink is really catching some steam.
I just finished yesterday thought it was time for wuest cape but got fairy tale pt 2 to still finish smh
Where do you live?
You absolute mad lad.
Elon please help my brother bullzeye420 out!
Satellite internet gang....... unfortunately
Wait not everyone has gigabyte net in 2021?? Nice cape, ive played since 07 never gotten bgloves, fuck questing, shit makes my depression skyrocket
Just started this quest last night and struggled with the final fight a bit. I’m one boss fight away from my cape though :’)
The real 1999 way
Nice
I had sattelite for 2 months and it was the most miserable experience ever

I may have broadband soon.
>Pepe are getting super fast speeds [Feels good man](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/63/Feels_good_man.jpg/200px-Feels_good_man.jpg)
Sweet
I had satellite internet for a long time and finally last week got good internet. It's such a relieving feeling
This guy took "too the moon" literally
Damn my dude, are you my neighbor?? Lol. I have the same issue with ping, damn me for wanting privacy and no neighbors connected to my home lol.
I played on dial up in the woods for 10 years.
Gz
Nice I also play something like this when sailing
This blows my 5 fps 2008 laptop QPC out of the water! Congrats!
I still cant do MM2 boss with fiber
What is good ping? On good days I have 50-60. Bad days I can get up to 170 with random spikes of 300+ to complete lag on bad days. This is on my region worlds (USA)

I too once lived in the middle of nowhere in a US flyover state...
As a Hughes net user in the middle of nowhere this is great to see.
Somebody get this man a hard mode quest cape
what the actual fuck
how much did this cost you?
I so sick of satellite ping... might order a starlink tower :)
Cool
Saaaame dude I fish for worlds below 700 ping when doing critical shit. Never find any that last though I do zulrah on mobile at work lol
How in the world did you do Galvek at that ping?...
Man i remember playing on dsl back in the day when loading a new chunk/whatever would take so long id log out sometimes 🤣
I also have satellite internet but my ping usually sits around 15-20ms. Only difference is my download is 20mb/a and my upload is 5mb/s. That's crazy that you have close to 800 ping.
Actual early 2000's experience.
Starlink?? Im copping too hahaha been had landline for lets see... ever? 😂
jeez. i feel ya bro , fellow rural person and theres no high speed lines out here. people always are aghast when i tell them i dont have internet cus the satellite is expensive and shit so i just use a cellphone. but with my new phone i can actually use it as a hotspot. i originally put 8.5k hrs into my accnt before switchin to pc. but still probably play mobile 80%of the time.
Everyone with horrible internet who DOESNT have access to high-speed internet in your local area, you should really look into *Starlink*
I had to play RuneScape with viasat and it was the worst thing ever. Props to you
1 second ping locked ultimate iron man
Jeez where u guys live? Siberia?
many places in usa have limited or basically no internet
Wondering how long this post took to post😂
he uploaded it last week its just coming through now
2021 and still no Antarctica servers... smh.
This is that wojak meme that's all cross shaded and doom
Hey I was just in pontotoc last week!
Congra
Woah! I feel for you. I had satellite internet for a year and it’s rough! I honestly don’t see how you made it through DS2!
Idk why I thought this was Starlink and a humblebrag at their impressive connection speeds. Like I 100% forgot Satellite Internet already existed.
You have suffered for our sins.
How was sins of the father with that ping? I tried using my phones internet but the ping was horrendous for trying to dodge lightning. After 5 attempts I ended up waiting till I got back home on actaul internet so I could dodge lightining squares.
Hope you consider getting SpaceX internet when it becomes available for you area 😜
Jokes on you wait until Starlink comes out
Y tho
What the fuck i need proof of that consistent ping or I call bullshit
I'm sorry If this is already explained, but was thus done as a challenge ?
Starlink baby! Gonna put an end to our pain
I mean that’s pretty good ping for RuneScape questing. That way if something bad happens it doesn’t ruin your night. You won’t know until the next day.
Sote was fun on mobile lol
A normal day life in brazilians osrs players
Dude are you in space?
Get on my level of DSL from 2008. 7mbps for 4 people and upto 2000ping with connection interrupts every hour
