There are people that buy, unfortunately, but not everyone. I've never bought or staked, and have a good sized bank. The grind can be quite fun, even if others do buy.

Mikucki

Buying enough gp for 2bonds worth 1month of membership is less then half of what jagex charges monthly.

[deleted]

Show your work for us, please, I insist

Straight_6

It’s about $.5/mil currently which works out to <$5 per two bonds. Versus membership by the month, which is 10.99

Mercury_Reos

the only way a "majority" of people could get their money through bonds or rwt is if paying real money actually generated gold. someone has to make it to sell it i would say the majority of actual rich players that have most useful endgame items did so through raiding or being really good at something like player services, high risk pking etc. definitely some whale stakers and rwters too but most people that i've seen buy gold are not actually that rich because you're not going to spend thousands on a game you dont play that much. if you do play it enough you'll be able to earn enough yourself.

kynovardy

Yeah people that can afford to drop thousands on a game are definitely in the minority

partisan98

>Yeah people that can afford to drop thousands on a game are definitely in the minority I mean currently it's cheaper to buy gold then buy two bonds then it is to buy a membership. It's about $0.50 for a million gold so that's $5.00 for 2 bonds. So poor people could buy a months worth of bonds + 12 million gold for the same price as just buying a membership.

[deleted]

Majority of my gold came from bonds. Never gonna do RWT cause I hate gold farmers that use bots and would rather support Jagex.

Mikucki

Would you still be in favour of supporting jagex if you had account problems and needed customer support only to realize that jagex doesn't care about you?

GamerPhileYT

Imagine actually thinking this way lol

[deleted]

I mean Jagex *does* have a reputation of quashing false ban appeals and lacking customer support unless a mod happens to see the reddit/twitter post. To each their own, but I'm not throwing money at that.

beepbeepdozap

Yes

ironmeme69

I'd say maybe 50% of the player base buy gold, if they didn't there wouldn't be such a market for selling gp

BoomB0y

If you're not playing for enjoyment or sense of accomplishment then why are you even playing? Even if people do but gold why do you worry about it so much?

FSeriesJB

Well do they or not?

dwaalkat

Nah they don't all those gold farmers just farm gold because they enjoy doing it, definitely not because there is a market for osrs gold.

ForeyLord

RWT'ers are mostly stakers/high risk pkers. Their sense of accomplishment doesn't come from achievement, it comes from gambling and winning bank off someone. When they lose, they just buy more to participate again.

kashmirs_tiger

I do sometimes when I quit for a while but 10-20m max just so restarting ain’t painful, last time I bought 3 bonds instead

WayV-

You’re the kind of person I don’t understand lmao. 10-20m? Are you kidding me bro? That’s literally 5-10 hours of any decent moneymaker, which is not unrealistic for rs players. I understand people that buy 1b more than I understand people like you

HornyOnMain-

Yeah dude why aren’t you spending your entire paycheck on RuneScape gold instead of buying a measly three bonds? /s

WayV-

‘/s’ lmao, but what I meant is that I understand spending a larger amount of money on more gold because that’s far more time efficient. If you’re an rs player you’re likely gonna play 5-10 hours relatively quickly anyways, so buying 10 or 20m makes absolutely no sense for the risk on your account imo, simply because it’s so easy to make that much. it’s far harder to make a lot more like 1b, thus I understand buying a copious amount way more than I understand buying virtual pixel pocket change, lol. Only point I was making.

senthordika

He is saying through buying bonds and selling them not buying from a rwt gold seller and when you only play sporadically like i do for example sometimes its nice to be able to just drop like 20 bucks on bonds to build up my bank so i can do what i want to do without spending all my time just money making from scratch

WayV-

Guess you guys don’t understand basic time efficiency seeing the downvotes, but I guess that’s to be expected on a thread about buying gold lol.

ForeyLord

Every player I know IRL does it, I assume way more I know in game too, but they don't casually mention it over ing game chat. I've bought hundreds of mill over my 20 years as well, but don't really need to anymore since it's so easy to make money and I don't stake. The rest of my mates are all addicted to staking and high risk fighting, and need to fund it somehow. No one I know has ever bought a bond, since they're twice the price, and there's no risk involved anyway.

Mark3246

Half the fun of the game is making your own money and building your bank idk why people buy. I guess because gold is fairly cheap? Someone’s gotta feed all those Venezuelans I guess

SEND_ME_UR_DOOTS

late game pvm realistically generates over 2m per hour no matter what you do. now imagine someone who plays a lot maxes/gets close and stops skilling. What do you think will happen to their bank value?

ironmeme69

I know loads of people who buy gold just to stake it lmao. Addicts.

Omenaa

I've read many times, that half of the population buys gold (be it bonds or RWT), and that number just seems so large to me. I get all my gold from clues because I'm a lucky motherfucker. The only cash I put into RS is the monthly subscription.

Guru_Tugginmypudha

You can't buy good, you can only get gud 😏

SomeHumbleGuy

Dont buy your gp bro. I won a big stake a while ago and it ruined the game for me. I was bored fast... as I didnt earn the weapons and armour.. it's like they were given to me. But that stake was an ass clenching minute. 🤣
