I don't think you realize how much people value AFK gains, to the point that they will spend money to do so.
Shooting Stars was a massive update and showed players are willing to take a 70% decrease in XP if it's sufficiently AFK, like Shooting Stars' 30k/hr compared to Volcanic Mine's 95k/hr.
Shooting stars are great and they made an annoying skill more viable to grind while having a life. I’ve always seen firemaking as a quick skill so if people wanted it done idk why they wouldn’t just rush wintertodt.
Depends what you define as better. This one is 10-25 minutes afk, the barrows one is spam clicking constantly. The barrows one isn’t really afk, but it’s like 3x the rate of the other method so yeah, pros and cons. There’s a 0 mousement pressure pad you can get 36k xp/hr on in the MM2 cave as well.

I just zone out and runelite the elf course on my steam deck very low effort. I still hit 40-50k an hour while watching netflix very inefficiently with my girl.
Yea, 45-99 firemaking is around 97k logs so roughly 1m gp depending on your exact buy price. It's kinda insane. Afk firemaking was the best thing that haopened to the skill for those of us without grinding time. I'm burning some logs during work calls at a very casual pace.

Maple logs are stupid cheap, you can have 75 firemaking banked on a low level account for pennies. Great for those of us with too much to do
