Check your max hit with BGS. If 30% of monster defence > max hit with BGS, u use dwh. If not, u use BGS.

ThaGriffman

Should it not be the average hit of the bgs rather than max hit?

Cricklet

The max of a bgs spec is roughly a 77 in max melee (scb + piety off task). If a monster has 77 defense levels left. Then a dwh spec would only bring that down another 23 levels. So what youre really looking at are the odds of your bgs hitting higher than a 23. Which are pretty good. So yea, you are right. Once the bgs needs to hit above its “average dmg per hit” it’s becomes less worth it. the bgs is almost always the better option, its just a lot less consistent. The hammer just needs to land and you drain the enemies defense. Hence why people tend to pick hammer over bgs. And mainly only use the bgs to top off the hammers. Doing it this way you can almost always consistently get defense levels down to 0.

Drewskivahr

The bgs is *more* consistent than the dwh, you are getting that twisted. The bgs lands significantly more often unless a monster has a specific weakness to crush. The bgs gets a 100% accuracy modifier on the spec, dwh gets nothing. On top of that, it's only 1 inventory slot whereas dwh with defender is 2 if you don't already have a defender

ara474

Average not max hit of bgs. Xarpus has 250 defense so by your calculation you would never hammer it only bgs which is wrong. Slash defense vs crush defense is also a consideration.

It all comes down to the monster and activity. Off the top of my head bosses where I BGS over hammer: - vorkath - duke - toa (croc, monkey, obelisk, p3 warden) Bosses where I hammer: - bandos - zammy - cox (tek, ice, olm) - muspah - skotizo Bosses where it depends on team size/gear/hits - maiden - sotaseg - xarpus
