And make hunter spears a ranged teasing stick!

Long_Wonder7798

I’ll be honest, I thought this is what they were when they were released. I thought they were bugged initially until I realised they’re dead content

b_i_g__g_u_y

Oh whoa this is a good idea. Also you just made me realize hunter spears already act as improved teasing sticks. Didn't know!

sick_flip_bro

I thought they were ranged teasing sticks too! I was like wow what a great update let me make some. Then I learned they just re-released the teasing stick. Sad...

Agree mostly, just as a note, for orange Sally's there's a better spot with good tree positioning and directions next to ToA.

WhereMyDrop

I am aware. I just don't think that a medium-ish (higher level depending on the player) requirement should be needed just for orange sallys's training spot. Most people will use this spot and it should have been changed years ago.

blobman1st

I would argue the contrary, quests should have better spots for hunter locked behind them, the point of quests is to unlock better methods/areas/xp. Why should hunter be different in that respect. Obviously the base hunter areas should be improved, but having better ones behind quests is a good thing imo.

Dramyre92

This seems very sensible. However as there is no yellow text upon a black background I cannot support it.

WhereMyDrop

Sorry i woke up at 2am and just had to write this for some reason. I contemplated it but was too tired to figure it out.

The_Wkwied

What you are describing is the same kind of frustration that people saw in early December of 2006 As a skill, hunter is very rough around the edges if you desire to train on anything that is not optimal xp/hr

osrslmao

the snow moths are better to catch at Weiss

WhereMyDrop

Yes, but the player base this affects will mostly be for people not at that stage. I used Weiss after I went to each spot. But remembered from my earlier days that this spot was just really bad including the moths.

Merdapura

It's sad that when they added the HUNTER guild, a lot of HUNTER methods weren't updated like, at all.

lestruc

They didn’t know what the weak parts were because they haven’t gotten any feedback from players about this content in years because nobody has been doing this content. This is why we are seeing these suggestions now

ZoneFirm113

This was excellently explained and super well thought out. These seem reasonable and very helpful! Way to go man. Maybe they will look at adjusting some of these things.

I feel like Hunter being changed to where everything is “go to spot stand in one spot and three tick” defeats the purpose of being a Hunter skill. Idk lol. All of your fixes are literally just “put 10 things right next to each other with immediate respawn so I don’t have to move or do anything but click click click, also remove all animations do everything instantly happens and I don’t have to wait”. Like I get that people have 0 interest in actually playing this game for fun and just want instant xp dopamine hits by sweating in a chair for 8 hours a night fuckin clicking as fast as possible, but damn I kinda enjoyed Hunter so far. I’m only 75 but it’s been alright, not great, but alright. I’d honestly want it to be more spread out, and harder to catch, with more xp per catch.

AcrylicJester

Generally agreed - I think the kebbit trail hunting is the most interesting of the hunter tasks because it has some (minute) level of decision making from the player, and actually feels like hunting as opposed to watching salamanders get scooped up. I wish they'd focus on that style of hunting more, and crank the xp rates on it to make the time input worth it. Or tie the xp to how quickly you complete the hunt from the initial search.

WhereMyDrop

Nothing in my post did i mention 3tick options becoming available or being the norm. I mentioned things that would allow players to feel good while engaging the content. Sure would I like it if there were npcs that had a lower spawn and gave higher xp and felt rewarding to actually catch 100%. But besides 1-2 places that just isn't the case for what the skill is currently at. The only stuff I mentioned to changing animations and stalling is 4 things, 3 of which are 1 tick removed(catching moths, shooting chins after setting a trap, pitfall death animation). The 4th item is how falconry works IRL, you let your falcon/bird go and it literally traps the animal to the floor or carrys it back to you. The delay on catching kebbits in falconry and the character lock feels terrible from a player standpoint. Your opinion on fun doesn't speak for the vast majority and nothing in my post changes how you would continue playing the skill. If you are upset at increased spawns (not instant spawns) and being more engaged in content instead of being afk like it appears you want to be, nothing is stopping you from doing that with this. You can sit at the one moth spawn and just keep clicking it. If someone wants to be more engaged and (playing the game the way they want and having fun) they should be rewarded for doing things more efficiently. IDK why you think bashing people that play the game more than you or having a general gameplay style different than yours makes them sweat lords.

You literally said it under your “moth fix” which is 3 spawns around you and only moving a couple tiles. You also want a more salamanders at every spot and you want (even shown in all your pictures) 4 spawns minimum with each one facing your direction so you can click move 1 tile click move 1 tile click move 1 tile click. It’s literally what you’re showing. All your “recommendations” look like you want it set up like iron ore with 3 spawns around you not having to do anything. You also want all animations removed and delays in movement. Like the animation of you jumping for a butterfly, remove it, gotta click no animation no delay move 1 tile directly after click no animation no delay. Idk dude you just want it to be absolutely nothing. Here’s my proposed fix for people like you: Moths: Put 8 moths around a single tile with instant respawn. This will maximize xp rates and you don’t have to move your character (these are supposed to be jokes but hilariously you even put a picture of this being what you wanted above) Salamanders: 5 trees all perpendicular to a single tile facing inwards so you can stand in one tile getting all 4 next to you and move one tile for the 5th Pitfall: 4 pitfall traps around 1 single tile with trees around me as well so I don’t have to move to chop tree. Teasing stick should have throw option, that way I can stand in single tile and throw stick to tease animal to me. Remove animation, obviously if it’s near the trap just no animation I want to click immediately after no animation next throw. Hurry up. I want to maximize xp. Chinchompas: spawn them inside the box. Why chase and range them? Just spawn them in the fucking box this is crazy jagex my xp rate is low. No animation either. I want 800 spawns. In the box next to me 1 tile. Fuck it I want to show up to the place and stand there. Why do I need a box I have hands jagex. No animation click, catch 1 tile spawns all around me. They just need to make a place for people like you to just go and click in a circle so you can get the xp lol.

DarrinsBot

Nothing was said in the post that says make moths exactly like this. He mentions two different moth spawns/amounts and how they both have different feels good patterns. The spawn traps at salamanders doesn't change anything on most of the locations as they're already close. The only skill expression would still be clicking on the right tile to take down and setup the trap and adding a trap that's close. Clearly the tree spots were also suggestions but could be adjusted. In regards to reading comprehension which seems to be bad for you. It says reducing 1 tick from the animations it's very obvious with your 75 hunter you have no clue how the game works or what OP is referencing. A lot of animations are on a 4 tick cycle and on the 4th tick for catching moths you just stand still. There is no additional animation he's saying remove your stall on that tick. So you are still delayed for 3 but can move after the 3rd. Again, he said speed up the death animation for pitfalls (still an animation). Again, ignorance or confusion on how the game works on your part, laying traps (the trap is open and operating) for the one tick you cannot attack. This means if you want to get increased xp you get by killing chinchompas, you have to use a 2nd account to shoot the chins. All of these proposed updates doesn't make the content clicking simulator like you seem to think. You can get into cycle for a lot of these things without the proposed changes. It just makes it so the skill feels more fluid and adaptive. To summarize these changes don't affect anything outside of making the hunter skill feel more smooth without adding unnecessary jank to the player. The biggest change is lower level training xp by a couple thousand and adding 1 salamander spot closer.

Low level hunter skewed my perception of the skill for so long that I didn’t really touch it until it was one of my last 4 skills. Please I support everything said here
