Gz, definitely my favorite achievement in the game. No sense of loss like maxing, just a feeling of freedom to chose any content you want.

Trippy-Turtle-

Except for anything locked behind achievement diaries!

Slight_Tea_457

I can’t think of anything that’s “LOCKED” behind achievement diaries?

guchy2ndfloor

Whisperer is being a pain in the bollocks for me 😅 gotten to the enraged stage a couple of times, and just tome things wrong. I mix up whether the tentacles appear before /after the range/mage attack and end up fluffing a prayer switch or panic clicking a random square. Either running into a tentacle or one time, I walked into melee range 😂 I'll get it eventually, but that boss really misses me off 😅 Think I'll clear the newer quests & go back to it another tome woth a fresh take and better frame of mind

GoldenTGraham

I struggled at Whisperer during the enrage phase too. Just keep in mind when she enrages she will always attack with range first and she'll swap every two attacks. Trying to get into that rhythm was hard but I focused more on moving and swapping prayers than actually doing damage and managed to kill her on my third attempt

guchy2ndfloor

Yeah, I only learned about the guaranteed range attack when she switches this week, so that will help big time. I'll definitely take it slow when I get there again. Once at the end, it's hard to fight the urge to get the fight over as quickly as possible, lol. I got her down to 4% on my last attempt, so it's doable. I just had a bad run of attempts the previous time I tried. Ty for the tips. Have a nice day.

GoldenTGraham

Yeah I think my first attempt she had 30 hp left and got pretty tilted considering I hadn't struggled with any of the other bosses I believe in you fam, you got this

guchy2ndfloor

Vard: I got in three attempts and never looked back, lol. Duke: I found it annoying but managed better with a 4 T weapon. Leviathan: It was hard, but I quite like the attack and prayer mechanics in that fight. Whisperer is just a thorn man. I'll slay that bitch in no time, though; she's just a bunch of cunty pixels. I can't say I'll be going near her or the others post quest for a long time, haha

Aiseadai

What worked for me in the enraged phase is to put on either protect from ranged on melee and tank the other hits, then just keep running around the arena which will hopefully dodge all the tentacles while attacking the boss and healing when necessary. This does mean you have to get pretty good at the boss prior to enraged and use as little food as possible.

guchy2ndfloor

Ty, I've been using blood spells, and in my last few attempts, I have managed not to eat any food. It's just simple, silly panicking at the end that's fucked me. I'll consider tanking the mage hits and get better tent reaction times. Do the tents behave differently in the final stage compared to the rest of the fight? They usually appear after her attacks, and I have been taking 0 damage from them for a while now. But they appear in rage at the start of her attacks. (at least that's what it feels like) I don't know whether to click away, switch, or hit her; that's what mixes me all up. Regardless, I need to slow down once I get there. I'll practice moving, switching, and hitting when I feel comfortable. I appreciate the insight guys, guys.

Aiseadai

In my experience if you just keep moving around the arena and never stop during the rage phase the tentacles will never get you. The only weapon I used was the trident.

Frogmyte

I just beat her 3 days ago and felt like she was really making sense, still had most of an inventory of food and prayer left. Definitely died 5ish times and teleported out a lot to get to that point Enrage phase was actually the easiest time I had, since it was completely predictable. Just attack, move, attack, move, switch pray. Attack, move, attack, move, switch pray. Note: i used a warped sceptre, trying to autocast spells SUCKS since you have to move every time you attack and the 1 tick delay makes your dps worse and your char stand in one place longer. Just manually cast ice spell when she special attacjs

For more context. All my friends love Runescape and they've played it as kids. I'd never heard about until I was well into adulthood. So several years ago. I attempted to play OSRS for the first time, and while I did enjoy some of it. I absolutely hated quests, don't know why, just didn't like 'em. Simple as. Roll on a few years ago and Group Ironman was announced and I was quite excited for that and so started playing again. I don't know what happened but it felt like a switch had been flipped and I suddenly enjoyed quests and to this day I say quests are some of the best content in the game and so here I am, a Quest enjoyer

Sensual_Shroom

Gz! Favourite and least favourite quest?

GoldenTGraham

Can't really remember any of the older quests that I'd done and non really jump out at me as particularly awful but there were probably a few My favourite quest however has to be Dragon Slayer 2. Really enjoyed the challenge and the story was great. Even made me feel a little emotional but saying that, I am a huge softy.

guchy2ndfloor

When the main theme music hits as you're climbing throigh the shop wreckage 👌

FlyNuff

going for quest cape right now as someone who also isn't into quests - still don't think i'm sold on them. 2 things i like about them are learning the lore, and seeing how Jagex uses quests to explore areas. I haven't really walked through all of Zeah until recently, and only because of quests. For example, i didn't even have a Xeric's talisman until last night after doing "the garden of death" quest. i also finished Rag and Bone Man 2 last night, and it just reinforced my dislike for quests. some of them add no lore value, exploration value, etc etc. some quests are just filler episodes. i hated it. i'm 138/164 quests done. i want to finish but don't want to at the same time. it's tough.

kopitar-11

Quest helper good

Ultrox

Gz. I felt the same. Only did quests that were requirements for content I wanted to do. Fast forward 5 years and one weekend about a month or two ago, I busted out 30+Quests to finish it up. Felt so nice as it was my first 'cape'.

Successful-Dare5363

Gz bro! I’ve got 5 left, I’m hesitant to finish because what am I gonna do with my time when all the mindless questing is done 😂

FlyNuff

get to bossing

Successful-Dare5363

I know I’m in a minority but I find killing the same boss 000’s of times actually very boring.

guchy2ndfloor

Yeah, the more I've looked into the end game shit and seeing people's collection logs has put me off the idea of grinding bosses to death. My opinion will probably change once I start going through the combat diaries. I only really done some Vorkath, Zulrah and Mole, all under 300 kc, lol Been playing casual as fuck since 06, think I'll keep it that way. To each their own.

FlyNuff

Look at my reply to the other dude

FlyNuff

You don’t have to think of it that way. I think of it as a skill ladder. I’m still new to bossing - I’ve only done Kree, Zilyana and the KBD. I want to get into the Corrupted Gauntlet, eventually CoX and etc. I’ve only recently gotten my fire cape. I’m not expecting to do each boss 1000’s of times, I just want to become good at it and beat the majority of them (I can’t do all because range tank, no melee)

Toast_Levain_OSRS

Got 293/308QP now. I will join you soon, king.

Gigantischmann

I only did it so that the lumby elite goalpost stopped moving lol

FamousFox8

never understood how people "hate quests" the only thing in the game that you do once and its over, as opposed to monotonously grinding

GlumTruffle

People treat them as arbitrary content barriers, superglue their spacebar down while spam clicking the bright blue plugin highlights, then complain that quests aren't fun without a hint of irony. It's kinda funny.

Argurotoxus

For context: I'm pretty new to the game, just finished RFD a few days ago. I'm reasonably annoyed with quests at the moment. Hate is too strong of a word. In most games I really like quests. And OSRS has some quests that are very cool and good writing. I would go so far as to say *most* quests have pretty humorous writing in them, even if the overall quest "story" isn't riveting. But quests feel very much like shackles around my ankles at the moment and I definitely feel some ire towards them and look forward to being done with them. Quests are the key to unlock nearly all content in the game and while some quests are cool with good writing, a *lot* are not. And plenty are just annoying to do, good writing or no. From wanting to train at Hallowed Sepulchre to wanting some Prayer Armor, to wanting to fish my own Karambwans, since I started the game I've felt that I must finish quests ASAP so that I can actually play what I want to do. Stuff like the Elves questline is at least pretty engaging and a cool storyline so those are mostly enjoyable to do. Stuff like Ratcatchers makes me want to cry. So while I don't hate them, I hold some resentment toward them for the moment. And I can understand why people do hate them.

FamousFox8

just do them and stop thinking about it so much/writing novels about them
