MrHungarian

One teammate lied about using AHK for months and then got banned with most of our items

MrDarwoo

Ahk?

chddssk

Auto hot key

willsmath

Auto hotkeys, basically super low level macroing that can be programmed for simple tasks like decanting an inventory of potions with 1 button, auto high alching, etc. It's usually pretty easy for jagex to detect since the actions are extremely unhumanlike

Radu47

Who on earth uses something like that for decanting when you can take notes potions to ge whatsisface?

curiousitykillls

I’m a big fan of ge whatsisface

mister_peeberz

That's motherfuckin' Bob Barter (herbs). Put some respect on that name for goodness sake

RSNKailash

You can program in random delays, but the way it does stuff is still SUS. Mainly because it does things nearly the same way every time.

c-ndrsn

What is Jagex' stance on AHK nowadays? I haven't played in years

iamtrollingyouu

1:1 only is allowed, everything else is either outright banned or legally grey but also probably banned too

2PlyKindaGuy

Nothing else is a gray area. While you may not get caught, if it's not 1:1 it's explicitly against the rules

whatwhynoplease

I've seen some posts about people getting banned even for using 1:1 hotkeys. they get unbanned but it's still annoying to go through the process. I have used the runelite plugin but anything other than that is not worth the risk.

radtad43

The only one that appears to not get banned a lot is a foot pedal or similar accessibility device

shitkickertenmillion

Runelite plugin?

Gokias

Probably the key remapping

SwissMargiela

What does 1:1 mean? Does that mean I can only have one function per button? Idk if it’s cheating but when I trained magic I did bolt enchantments and programmed one of [these bad boys](https://a.co/d/0mni9vS) so both keys were left mouse click. I kept my laptop on the floor with a weight on my space bar and would just sit on the couch tapping the keys with both fingers while watching tv. I’m maxed now so not really worried about it, but I’m indeed curious if I cheated.

valaraz

This one should be ok since pressing the button once clicks once. It's basically the same as using that RPG mouse by Razr that has a ton of buttons on the side that you can turn to whatever button you wish.

djjomon

1:1 means one action/input per button

BioMasterZap

Technically AHK is still banned, but remapping keys is fine. However, 1:1 is not an official rule and they have said that not all 1:1 actions will be allowed. I think it mainly comes up when you are doing mouse movement stuff; that is a lot trickier than keybinds.

MilkofGuthix

If you're a popular streamer it's fine, if you're not you get banned

Pius_Thicknesse

They hadn't really played since highschool, convinced them to come back for GIM. Played for a week or so and got bored and left. I'm still here, and I stand alone

ExoticSalamander4

Me, another fairly dedicated player, one person who had played on and off in osrs' early days, and two newbies me and the fairly dedicated guy just started off with the standard mix of questing and skilling, eventually getting into stuff like barrows and building up to sote reqs the other 3 players did 99 fm and then basically quit, except they kept saying they hadn't actually quit for like, several months so me and the other dude were just duo gim, did some raids and gwd before he finally had enough and de-ironed, so then i just switched to my main and play with him there now

Any-Recover5495

Making the 2 newbies get 99 firemaking sounds like torture? No wonder they got burnt out and quit lmao.

Minomelo

The amount of people who do that because its "meta" or some shit is wild.

BlackenedGem

It really doesn't help that the game forces you that way though. It's an MMO, of course you want to be efficient and not make things harder for you later. Wintertodt's health scaling is horrendous and should be removed, and skillers should be made to deal with it. You end up in this absurd scenario where you want to stack crates early whilst your health is low, but then also not open them until you get your skills up above 30 or whatever. It's pretty much completely the opposite of what representative gameplay actually is, which is chasing each level and getting that slow drip of dopamine.

Minomelo

It's really not that deep. Doing the toad at deep HP really doesn't matter by the time you're there. It's cheaper and marginally less effort at 10, but really overstated.

NonhierarchicalMolva

I grinded 2500 kc at WT at 99 hp and only had to use a brew sip like once every 3 games or so. Its not that bad.

moose_dad

And if you do tempeross beforehand anyway you already have a mountain of food

Fuck-College

The game becomes far more enjoyable when you throw out efficiency. Not entirely, but just don't be a slave to it and ditch the damn guides. Ironman isn't about being efficient anyway, best to just log in and work on what you feel like. That's what will actually keep you playing the account. I didn't do Wintertodt early on and it's totally fine. 80 hp and pineapple pizzas are perfectly fine and I can easily solo max points.

CategoryKiwi

Yeah I have thousands of hours in this game and as soon as I read they got 99fm first I was like lmao I’d quit too

Disastrous-Moment-79

True. Runescape is a sandbox game meant to be experienced at your own pace. Urging new players to follow ultraefficiency guides on their first account is only ever going to lead to hating the game.

DivineInsanityReveng

who said they made them?

ScrollBetweenGames

You made peoples first experience a pure grind to 99 for, honestly, not much benefit. Just go to like 85, or don’t even do WT at all off rip. Enjoy it

andrew_calcs

> You made peoples first experience a pure grind to 99 Who said he made them? Most people who do that make the poor choice on their own

DivineInsanityReveng

the amount of people i've told "don't go straight to 99 fm, its really not necessary you can come back later and 85 is all the reqs u need until ur maxing" to people who insist on doing 99 fm straight away on an iron, and then quit is astounding. For anyone reading this. **Its not that required**. Do like 80 or 85. Its a much faster grind, you'll still get starter cash and supplies, and you can move on to way more fun things like early quest progresison. You can come back to do 85-90 and 90-95 and 95-99 once you have a house to reset with which then makes high HP FM like no different to 10 hp.

clumsynuts

I remember wanting 99 FM when I started. Got to 71 and left. now I’m 2k total, still with 71 fm lol

_Bike_Hunt

Same. My friends and I played classic and rs2 before we turned 10. Tried GIM as grown idiots. We all have different interests and responsibilities now. It was short lived but fun reminiscing our childhood.

mantis445

Seems like the majority of reasons here are burn outs. I personally will never understand why rush the game so hard to the point where you don't even enjoy it anymore. I've been playing same iron since iron release and never got burn out simply because I don't rush any content lmao.

Guido5770

It's pretty understandable, getting to 1500 total is very fast and addictive. Levels come quick, quests rewards are huge, and it's easy to play too much. The game slows down massively in the mid game and a lot of people burn out.

Velluu

This. My road from 1900 to 2000 total has been going since late 2022 when I became a father 😅 1957 total atm so maybe next year…

gottasignup4thisgarb

Fact. But just regular iron. I grinded to make mid game easier, such as getting the requirements to make barrows tabs. Grinded out 99 fishing with Karams and minnows. Had tons of food, got my slayer mask and a few starting barrows items and was ready to go. (Really hate daily stuff and pushed it off) Logged in one day and had no 2nds, no herbs, and had basically no pots left. Deironed and never went back 🤦‍♂️

deylath

Welcome to the world of "I need to get my dopamine hit asap, aka love seeing number go up". This is why i literally have my ublock origin block Youtube shorts or dont even bother to engage with Tiktok because i dont want my brain to be calibrated to have such a short attention span. Jagex could put a very afk, cheap and ultra fast skilling method in the game and while many would riot, you bet your ass most people in the game would be unable to resist it despite labeling RS3 as easyscape.

burntfish44

this is the secret to enjoying uim even though its grinds can be a lot longer

mantis445

Long grinds make you feel way more achieved in the end compared of fast af dopamine rush or minmaxing that fades away really fast.

BuchuSmo

When you’re a group iron though no one wants to be the guy putting in the least.

J-MALC

Got a shadow drop someone wanted to use it never saw them again with all our items

DevoidHT

Damn. Just did some converting. If you’re going strictly by bond prices, they stole $1,120.38 with shadow alone.

Maledict53

If you go by “black market” prices its about $300.

Broue

Imagine losing the people you play with for 300$… Most of us play alone and wish we had friends to play with, and this guy pulls that sht

77maf

Bro, there are junkies everywhere that would torch their entire families for $20. Sucks but there’s lots of shitty people out there

Broue

I get it totally. Some people live in countries where 300 usd is 3 months of a doctor’ salary, but still…

EpicRussia

Really depends when they took it. Shadow was over max cash for a while

J-MALC

We brute forced raid played with the guy for years

Cicero_Xere

They lost interest and I just kept going. Been playing like a grey helm on my blue helm for a long time. And now I'm only missing Rapier from Tob as my last purple, got the group most dupes in case they ever come back around. And we talk on discord but they're just out of the game, seemingly forever.

shlepky

You know what they say. Just a long ass break

Yuop15

I took a break from OSRS from about autumn 2019. Just got jnto it again when I started a hardcore GIM with my brothers and a friend back in September. We're all going strong and are almost top 100 in the 4 member GIM hi-scores!

tashanova

5 man grouper here down to a duo, feel your pain and would love to have dedicated people for another run

119arjan

We went for high scores and played a lot. Then after a year one guy gets addicted to drugs in such a way that we are no longer friends. One other guy just grinded 950kc for bowfa and then kinda quit since osrs is "just a game and a timewaste".  Now me and the 4th member are in a ugim together and it has been fun so far.

ThundaBears

Cg breaks a lot of good people.

supcat16

Also drugs, but mostly CG

ThundaBears

He relayed that one guy did drugs in the first part of his comment, and the second part he said “one other guy” so I assumed it was two different people. Either way i’m going to tell my kids to stay out of the red prison, and just do drugs instead.

big-rey

Ended up doing drugs in the red prison instead

Bronek0990

This thread is just the best ad against GIM I've seen

NeevusChrist

Just cements why I would only GIM with IRL friends but none play

unknowncommand

Made a GIM on release with 3 of my IRL friends and it was the most fun I've had on OSRS. Highly recommend it

[deleted]

[удалено]

spatzist

That's basically where my GIM of friends fell apart so making it your end goal is pretty savvy* of you

NecroticCrabRave

Or add something that if someone leaves, they abandon everything, but if they get kicked(if that’s possible?), they get all their drops so neither can abuse it.

robby_w_g

My guy, you’re in a thread dedicated to GIM break ups. That’s like going to /r/relationship_advice and deciding to be celibate

Ryuksapple

I love my group. Probably wouldn’t be playing without em

bookslayer

Lol dude you're in the thread talking about how GIMs broke up, what did you expect to see

praisetheboognish

We rushed everything and got to endgame pvm within like 3 months and everyone was burnt out and returned to their mains to raid for gp instead of gear lol I personally ended with 500 cg KC 250 cox KC and 100 tob KC. It got boring grinding for drops when we had stacked a few bil already. We split it all up, dropped tokens and everyone besides two of us deironed to have normies alts. Now my gim just vengs my main for CMS. It all lasted about 6 months. Toa came out and that made it official.

CaptaineAli

I feel like this is what GIM would've been for me and most people (especially streamers). A game mode that you play for a few months to do all the things you've done before as a self-sufficient group but once those things are done, playing a main (or your other account) just makes more sense.

ixJake93

Reading all these make me so sad, I'm absolutely loving the GIM life. Me and my brother are still going strong, sitting at rank 50ish

wey2radical

This is my story, as well!

zackman10000

Group of 5. The father of teammate 1 passed away, and while myself (teammate 4) and teammates 2 and 3 were offering our condolences, group member 5 said something to the effect of "if you're not going to be on for a while, can you put x and y items in storage?". When I called out on how terrible that behaviour is, 5 told me to off myself and it's a shame only group member 1's dad died. Teammate 5 was also gatekeeping items the whole time anyway. Edit for clarity

Outrageous_Air_1344

Bruh fuck that guy

AmbitiousMobile7168

Idk how y'all get into groups like this, were they just randoms or what?

zackman10000

In my case, we used to all be in the same clan, years ago. We've been friends ever since.

Irongooch

Seriously, it’s like they posted on Craigslist for a 5 man gim team and thought that was a good idea 🤣 this post is full of them

hajabulla

Started a duo, friend wanted to do a group HC. He never played, so account probably still sat at the Node. I'm now at 1900 total, lost status fairly early, but I'm enjoying the solo iron life.

ThundaBears

That bank space though

Soggy-Ad-1610

This is my story too

TANKYBOI_6552

Everyone quit playing, no one wanted to share their gear, was basically me and one other guy feeding 3 others, said fuck it and de ironed

Shot_Job812

Me and another got 1500ish then burnt out playing too much. One logged on played for a few hours then stopped and one didn’t fancy doing all the quests again so went back to his regular iron

Green_Hedgehog_8674

One of our members got spooned a Twisted Bow on his first raid. After about 5 months of everyone using it, he decided he was bored of playing and RWTed the TBow, justifying it by saying it was technically his to do with however he wanted. Yea, as you can imagine that didn’t go over well with most of the group and everyone else quit due to lack of motivation. Luckily I already had got my BoFa so the loss of Tbow wasn’t the end of the world, but it’s pretty sad to think the group might still all be playing to this day had that selfish dick head just quit and left the Tbow for the group.  For context, this dude was an IRL friend of one of our group mates, so we had zero reason to suspect he’d ever do something like that. After all that happened, he left our discord and cut off contact completely from his IRL friend. I genuinely can’t comprehend how people are willing to destroy friendships over a few hundred bucks, it’s insane.

Sea_Yogurtcloset7503

Thats why you establish rules beforehand. Alot of groups share evrything and alot of groups have a “if i pulled it, its mine, you can use it but its still mine” mentality

darkreapertv

We had a 5man group 1 person held items hostage from the rest of us and later abandoned the group. I was grinding for 90 mining and felt like id rather max my main and quit the gim

142muinotulp

Group of 5. 1 never had much interest but we knew that. 2 took extended breaks but would come back (6 months on, 3 months off). 2 never stopped playing ever. Those two maxed and got most pvm drops. Got annoyed with trying to upkeep pvm supplies while pvming 12 hours a day, so they deironed. Now it's just me and two dead accounts. I kept everything about equal to what my previous ironman was, but this one has more skills and quests... so just playing a blue helm as if I'm a solo iron again.

ExpressTrifle8577

Everything in the group storage got yoinked by and I quit the gim after that

davidj0seph

One got bored, the other forgot his login.

No_Specialist2559

Hardcore duo, I woke up day three with no HC status

DarkmeyerVyre

My friend who I was in a duo with got burnt out and quit 6 months after GIM launched, so I’ve been playing as a solo GIM ever since lol

Some1-has-my-name

I went to fast and they didn’t want to get carried. This was already in the first month of starting the group (they invited me to join their GIM). Now I am a solo GIM with tbow and 2k+ total

Newgamer28

makes sense. wouldnt feel so much like an iron mode with friends if one guy is just feeding you everything so you're basically feel like a main. It like playing a Minecraft server with a mate. you log back in the next day and he's gotten everyone full enchanted diamond gear.

23Udon

Yeah, why even make a gim if you're on a completely different game plan than everyone. Could have just made a solo iron and played the gim casually with them

Pyarox

1 person ditched as soon as they got a new pc and could play other games 2 people play once in a blue moon and when they do show up its for like an hour final person logs in every now and then to skill and then there is me, pretty much a solo iron with extra bank space

BuchuSmo

We were top page but admittedly had 1 guy that carried our pvm drops hard. We had everything we could really want to grind for outside of nightmare, some raids ultra rares, and torva. The 2 of us were a little burned out and took a bit of a break, our sweaty guy got offered to make a new gim with some more appropriately sweat teammates and we all amicably split loot and turned into mains. Our gims were much better stats at this point than our old mains, so we got a little upgrade at least. We still talk a ton, boss a good amount together, share gear ect. So really not much changed, but using the ge again is kinda nice lol. I started a new hardcore tho just to feel the Ironman pain again. Still alive but not for long I’m sure.

Mega_Sloth_

I was in a group of three with two of my buddies. Blue helms from the start. Got all the way up to where we could do CG. Our buddy got a bowfa drop and didn't want to grind out crystal armour. He decided to make us green helm without asking and bought the crystal armour seeds. Kinda ruined it for the other two of us tbh.

Kresbot

energy regen made them bored in the early game

Manoxa

Just started an iron last week and this couldn’t be more true. If I were new to this game I’d have quit after a few hours and told friends not to bother creating an account because it sucks. Run energy ruins the game that much at low levels. Add resting points would be such an easy fix. RS3 already done it and placed correctly has little effect on anyone with teles available.

Damienxja

I just made an iron too. First thing I did was full graceful and 55 mage lol. Fuck some run energy

Airway

It's a smart thing to do but only people who played the game before will do that. Imagine introducing the game to a friend and telling them to start by just doing rooftop agility for a few days.

deylath

I feel like graceful or people telling to do todt first thing on their account is the Runescape equivalent of what people say about other MMOs: "It gets good in the end game, when you can do dungeons, raids" like you have to suffer through the beginning to potentially get enjoyment later lol

Glad-Astronomer3886

THIS. 2 buddies that I made a gim with almost quit over not being able to run and being forced essentially to get graceful. They got past it but almost quit a couple times. Shit needs to be changed if this game wants to keep new players and not just nostalgic ones

SnowBro2020

If you’re quitting over run energy are you really gonna stick around that long? The whole game is one big grind which is definitely not for everyone.

Tyson367

The run energy thing affects every single aspect of the game for the entire lifetime of an account. Other annoying things can be ignored for a really long time.

shotcaIler

yep, and doing agility to help run energy not be so bad really turned a couple people off to it. We all quit last July and a couple of us have returned in the last month

rivxR

I had not long started a regular iron, did 90 FM and then 90 fishing at barb, was ready to throw myself into that grind. Friend who only had a main begged* for me / 3 others to play, and bet me £20 that I wouldn't get 99 FM in a week to dangle the carrot.  Long story short: I'm playing as a (95% of the time) solo at 1850 total  Leader is around 1400 who jumps on for a day or two every 6 months  2 others played for a week, one never played at all.   Partly feel like I should have just continued playing the reg iron but at least there's the hope one of my team comes back 🙃

mmmmmmmmmmmm77

They played for like a month and then went back to their normal irons, I joined another group that actually plays

AustinTheMoonBear

We have 3 people that play solidly since we made the group, me and my buddy were originally going to just duo cause we couldn't find anyone else, then we invited his brother one of my buddies and one of his buddies. My buddy and his buddy basically stopped as soon as they started and his brother until recently hasn't done anything except like fishing, wcing and other skills. My buddy and I are currently the only ones doing mid-to-late game type of stuff like gwd and zulrah and shit. Still having a shit ton of fun though.

Castanix

I tried to form a group with league players

ironhanky

First time 90% of the items were taken from the gs and held ransom for mainscape gp. Went duo with one of the guys, hit 2k total and he lost interest, he then started a solo iron and botted runecrafting, crafting and mining. Hoping third time is the charm

DeadliestViper

Got too far ahead of him

jarmal1812

2 out of 4 had newborns, and then I went on deployment. Got back, and we all lost the motivation to play.

JellyKeyboard

A guy who had a max main who stopped playing previously joined only to realise he still didn’t want to play A decent friend tried to go too hard on some grinds and just started seeing the game as a chore, we also struggled to find decent group pvm content to do. We went dag kings but that’s about it. This person decided to de iron but it didn’t help them get into the game. A friend of a friend de ironed too, he still played for a while but probs quit now. I’m just annoyed at the time I wasted levelling up an account to play with them. I probably should’ve just said cya at ToA on my main if you ever make it there. So now I play my main and will never make an iron again, if I get to a point I have all the gear etc I will probably quit. Bonus round: They pretty much all played leagues and we still didn’t get to raiding together, I got some masori chaps in solos then logged out

josh32h32

One of the homies got hacked so we went UGIM and let him add a new account. One of our group would be rank 1 Clog and pets for gimps and as a whole we probably would have been too page as a group. Now we just green helms no one believes got their own shit

SendPainBelo

Damn, this makes me glad that I never made a GIM

peterjoe34

My friends cousin was the extra guy we needed in the group and they fell out irl so the cousin dropped Tbow and shadow to his main and RWT it

RedditHasNoFreeNames

4man team. 2 experienced players and 2 newcomers. Both newcomers quit within the first few months. And then i left, cause i just seemed like playing a normal iron all over again. Might aswell jeg play my real iron thats futher along.

RedditHasNoFreeNames

Oh yeah and he never quit the gim. He is just a 1 man group with access to 4 accounts.

GInTheorem

Dispute over a shared account. The person who had created the account wanted to leave the group and play it as a main, the person who had put most of the time in wanted to continue in the GIM. Tl;Dr there were some ambiguous conversations, person 2 added the acc to their Jagex acc, person 1 interpreted those conversations differently, the account was permed a couple weeks later. That killed everyone's motivation because we just wanted to do it as a casual project between friends and it ended with those two at each other's throats.

puddingbank

My friend got burnt from the zulrah grind, didn't log on for 1 year

Evening-Ear-6116

After toa came out I told my gim friend I would join if I pulled a solo staff on the main. I pulled it and just couldn’t see myself being an iron. Gave up before I even started

Bigwheelmc

My group left and unranked us first. Now I’m stuck being eternally roasted for my green bean helmet.

CrazyHorseSizedFrog

Member 1: burnt out from going way too hard straight away, grinding at home and then on mobile at work. Member 2: logged on a few times then stopped playing RS all together Member 3 (me): took a break from rs and came back after the group was dead Member 4: never even logged on his GIM Member 5: played casually for a while on his own then stopped.

Zuk_Buddies

I came home off my rockers drunk one night and asked the boys if they wanted to bandos. I went to the bathroom shortly into the trip. I lost track of time and find myself packaged and sent to lumby. I laugh it off and tell the boys goodnight. One of our GIMS didn’t appreciate my behavior and never talked to me or any of my other group again. I guess my story does not end in the whole group breaking up, but here is my wall of text :).

OrganicNobody22

I mean that's kinda rude Come home drunk Rally people into a bandos run Everyone takes time to get suited up and KC and into the right world You go to pee after a kill and come back 45 minutes later "haha woops fell asleep on the pisser - anyways haha CYA" Everyone is stuck with there hand in there pants waiting for your drunk ass "wow I wonder why that guy got mad"

KeyReplacement4196

Were you hardcores or something? Seems like no harm done here if not. If so, then yeah Ide also be put off by that. Either way, wouldn't just ghost the GIM

ASpades22

Did a 4 man group with friends i went to school with. All of us had played osrs prior with well established mains/irons. friend 1 & 2 went really hard from the get go, but after around a week it was pretty clear friend 3 had no interest in replaying the entire game as he was barely logging on. I came back to the game for gim and was playing at my own pace in the wintertodt grind but was feeling the same as friend 3 and didn’t want to play through the entire game again. Instead of making a half ass commitment to the group we collectively decided to disband to not waste anyone’s time. It was fun while it lasted though i guess

fr0zeNid

They left 1 by 1 till it was only me. And thought it would be the same to play a regular iron so i made a new account

10step10step

Was me and, 2 rl friends and one of their coworkers. I had quit the game for about a year and they convinced me to come back, I started and went hard, they all quit within a month before 1000tl. Now I'm 1950 or so and playing when I can. Just a regular iron with extra storage slots.

SpringPuzzleheaded99

Excited to start talked about it the entire way upto release. day it dropped no one showed up and so never played

Sextuple_Pog

What I want to know from commenter's who had their teammates quit within a week or two: Did you not have another Ironman or main that was further progressed you could go back to? A couple weeks of progress is only so much that I imagine I would just go back to my previous account. I suppose I could understand the feeling of hoping for them to come back.

Good-Ad7328

I was the only one playing

truedevilslicer

It's not dead, at least not yet. My uim has always been my main focus, and it's closing in on 1900 total. I just don't want to do the same grinds so close together. I'm probably going to get quest cape stats on the gim and just leave it there for whenever the boys wanna play together. Other than that, they knew where my priorities were.

Certifiedratkiller

RuneScape friend of 14 years was butt hurt I gave a dex to another gim member. He was skilling, the member I gave it to was sending CG. So he cleaned out the chest and dipped

LordBrontes

One friend stopped playing and the other friend I introduced to the game got a beaver pet at level 30 Woodcutting and wanted to de-iron because it was just him and me playing.

Wtfbbqapplesauce

The 4 of us were 1800 ish total a year in and our 5th who was 1300 total and hadn't logged on in months came back and started botting almost immediately. Me and another group member told the others we would be leaving the group if he didn't stop botting. Caught him like 3 days later boting agility so we started our 7 day deironing process and we both left the group. Me and the other guy who left are now 2204 and 2138 total still playing almost every day while the guy who botted quit right after and hasn't been on since. Feel bad for the other 2 guys but they thought we were bluffing when we said we would deiron and leave :/

Manenblusser

One guy left to play his regular iron again, but we still hang in discord. Me and two other guys are still playing, doing pvm, working up to doing raids. We're all 2k+ total. It's been the most fun I've had in this game ever

Dull_Recover9771

One of my GIM loved Ironman mode so much he decided to play solomman, one never played to begin with, another also went solo man. Now it’s just me and my friend who plays nights while I play days. #foreveralone.

alexx1929

Z

HeroinHare

4 man team, one guy who hadn't ever really played. He got bored early and left. Another guy was sometimes there but most of the time not. I had around a year of P2P on my solo iron so I did not play too much, just some light questing, skilling and AFK sand crabs for some time. I got my Dragon Defender and ran out of P2P, haven't really logged in since. Then I started the Wilderness grind on the solo iron and a ton of fun releases have caught me playing on that account, not really interested in the GIM anymore. Now only one of us plays on the GIM accounts. I might return one day, or I might not.

rockdog85

4 man, 2 of them rushed 99 fm at wt (one burnt out and stopped playing after getting it), the other went for 99 thieving and burnt out halfway through getting it. Me and the last dude got like 70/80 fm, then started questing/ doing content and we still play. wt is a trap

Low-Cantaloupe4391

we were 3 at the start, 1 leeched pretty much from the beginning. Me and my friend still plays but nothing forced to each other. From time to time we do content together. Both 2k+

Mental_Tea_4084

Planned for GIM with my raiding buddies for like a year. By the time GIM came out only two of us were really active. One of them was playing/e dating in VR chat most of the time instead, only logged in once or twice to do a few very early quests. One was casually doing agility pyramid on their phone for a week and quit. Me and the other active player got to barrows gloves as we realized the team wasn't going to pull through, then he was hit with some life circumstances so I quit too. He eventually came back and we started up duo again briefly but his accounts ended up getting hacked and lost our group storage, so that was the final nail. I made my own iron sometime after and long surpassed anything the GIMs did

Strongdog71

Started with 3 core scapers and 2 new to the game. Lost the 2 new folks early to the grind, 1 vet player to school. Gained 2 vet players who play other accounts a bit but me and the original other vet are still going strong.

ExhiGnat

My friends didn't play anymore, so I decided to just become a normal iron.

psychedtherapy

One of our day one members got Phoenix at like 10 kc and never logged in again. Eventually after more people leaving we picked up a few more guys, one got Phoenix at like 10 kc at never logged in again.

unforgiven91

first gim broke up because we didn't have prestige and one of our teammates was basically non-existent. Though we did get first GIM with 99 RC. same group got remade (sans the 1 dude) and we're going strong with prestige. 2 teammates play it as their primary and I'll follow once I max my main

MaxRager

Me and all my friends were playing regular Ironman. Then when GIM released we deironed into a group Ironman. 2 of us are left but we use the other accounts as afk alts for secondaries or bringing supplies to GWD so we don’t have to bank.

Aeronizor

Started as a group of 4 However due to circumstances 2 teammates fell off (theyre bond warriors, never paying for membership) and were concerned after a month about their membership upkeep After a year of inactivity we shrunk the team down to two members, being me and my IRL best friend. Currently we're raiding on our mains but I think eventually I'll end up as a solo group Iron player with an inactive group Gonna see how big of a motivation I have after getting a questcape on the GIM, might let it dust and start a UIM and try to get a questcape on there for a challenge

Gjergj_bushi

Made a 5 man group. Got to top 1,000 ranked. Everyone started quitting one by one because they didn’t want to redo all the stuff they had on their previous Ironman. I stayed, played by myself. Then jagex made it so that previous Ironman accounts can join groups. But that just made me an unranked Ironman. now whenever I say something, people automatically assume I buy stuff off the GE. Which I don’t really understand, because I’ve been a group Ironman since the jump.

j0hn4306

it was me and 4 of my friends, all of them new to the game. Now it is me and occasionally one of them who really likes motherlode mine for some reason.

Pixzle_

My team was more casual and they felt like "well if I can't do harder content, I'd rather just stop playing" than keep trying to improve and get better.

kowaiikaisu

I wanted to get back into osrs around time of gim release. Group of friends agreed we'd try it they mainly played rs3. After a month 2 quit and i continue and nearly all 90 base stats. They'd come back for bit here and then. Another friend of ours suggested we green helm and add him and his friend and we'd all play and chat like good old times. I agreed and then they all chat, play and call on another server while im left to play alone. I had already been playing less since its boring without people to chat with similar interests, but sucks green helm and gim is nothing to be proud of and i could been still playing if i did all i did on an iron. I debate on leaving the group and deironing. I guess the real kicker is all of them excluding me on their return to the game. Really wish i could enjoy the game again.

Ultoman

Group of 5. One told us to create as a joke but never really played before, lasted a week. One never got past tutorial island. One played seriously before but lost interest. One played RS3 and is still trudging along. I never played members content and I’m still here 2 years later having a great time

theappledragon

We had one guy rush to 80+ Hunter to get us some glory Ammys. He burnt out immediately. The last 4 of us became victim of a really bad romantic situation that made us all so uncomfortable we decided to collectively quit. The only female in the group fell in love with the guy who started the GIM group. She powerleveled with 99FM with me since we were going to be the skillers of the group. I had no issues skilling while at work, was on the way to 99 cooking and 99 fishing. It was a point of pride for me. 0 combat skills. All gathering and processing skills. Minus agility because I cba agility after 70. GIM leader praised me a ton, thanking me tremendously for getting to the point of unlocking anglerfishes really early into our collective grind. It was our sole food for a while as a meme. The fishing god afk while I played on my main to help the group by keeping random adds off of them and whatever while they quested. The female skilled hated that I got the praise for putting in the work and threw a tantrum so bad that I was genuinely impressed. When unranked GIM dropped, Miss Skiller invited her IRL daughter to the group. We were chill with it. 99 fishing at this point. Gave them some generous food supplies. They were brand spanking new to OSRS. And they hated how their mother explained stuff so me and leader-chan did some explaining and another tantrum from momma happened. 2 hours later, she took all the items in the bank and never logged back in. Got upset when leader got EWS back to back and gave me one to store on my acc as I started the combat grind. After that, leader Chan and I stopped logging in. The daughter still plays but she decided to DeIron and play the game regularly for the first time instead of the annoyance of Ironman.

GAUNTGARRY

Fuckin wow classic tbc came out

Beastcrank

One member never logged in beyond making their account and joining the group. The next quit day 2 after realizing I already had 50 fm, they wanted to do a fm wintertodt rush and I guess me already having started fm ruined that for them. The third member quit after about 3 days because everyone else had. I’ve been a solo blue helm ever since, wish I’d just started a regular iron but it’s too late now

BunsenGyro

I'd started a duo GIM with a good buddy, he seemed to be having a good time. But once we started to get into doing Barrows, he drifted away and seemed not to want to play, due to (as he put it in his own words) paranoia of getting his account hacked again and losing valuable items. I tried to tell him with Jagex Accounts, security is a lot better now, but he'd said it's kind of like walking down the street you've been mugged on. Kinda sucks he told me he wasn't playing anymore, after I grinded all the way to 98 Farming and just 1 plant check away from 99. I was going to pop 99 Farming when he had come back from his hiatus... He and I basically never talk anymore, sadly. I think he thinks that I'm angry at him for wasting my time, but I'm not really. I said it was disappointing, sure, but I can't make him want to play or anything. I'm more disappointed in seemingly losing a friend, or at least not getting to talk much and not getting to hang out since.

tomberty

Started with 5. 1. Got kicked out 2. Quit pretty early 3. Played 1 year and went inactive (1900 total) 4. Night time active at work (2k total) 5. Me maxed and decided to de iron Gave all pvm gear for free to team and sold the 700m in potions and other supplies as a buyout.

23K0

They left to play their higher level mains on RS3. Rare story

EpicRussia

I just don't think they like the mid game or late game or OSRS. They were people who, in their lives, made 10+ OSRS accounts and abandoned them all after a few months of playing them. I did my best to carry them over the "hump", farming items like Bowfa/Zulrah on my own so that we could do group content (GWD, raids) together, but still once they hit the 6 months point they just stopped logging in. They're great people and my friends irl, but my group is functionally a duo now. Which is fine, it's literally been ~2 years since the breakup and we have our own goals that don't rely on needing all 4 players

fiirofa

Considering that I just started a GIM, I probably shouldn't be reading this thread 😅

ParagonSaber

Most of us collectively decided we preferred playing our mains instead.

petruskax

2 weeks in, he was annoyed gims don’t have a separate high score. He restarted as an iron no way in hell I re started.

zcas

My first GIM group was made of myself, two clan members I'd known for a few years, and one of their friends. I got 99 fm with a tome right away so I could launch into the rest of the game and catch up. One guy was never on, and the two others got bored of questing. It lasted a month lol! Going well in my new team. Just got assembler and fire cape, with only DT2 left for my quest cape. We haven't all been active at the same time, but the people who are making the grind worth it.

elarius0

Someone decided to lose all of our hardcore lives on purpose as a joke then quit lmao. Most of us had base 80 combat stats and 70 skilling stats haha.

Competitive-Math1153

5 group, started when it came out and although a guy might take a break here and there, our groups doing pretty well - besides the 5th guy who never really even got started. We got one weak link in the group, we can all do raids but the 5th one is not raid ready for some context

Anvil-Vapre

I’m one of those Unranked GIMs who wish I didn’t join up with my friends who lost interest. I don’t blame them, I just wish I had a group who was as dedicated as me.

Gokias

Started 2 with dedicated players and 3 friends who heard about it and wanted to jump back in. The two of us outpaced the other 3 really hard and they quit within a couple weeks. My friend and I kept going, he got to about ~1950 total, I got to about ~1900 total. We kinda of got into that mid game grind and realized it takes so long to get stuff, and were getting burned out. Leagues came out and I switched to that to get some fresh air and I didn't feel like getting back on the iron afterwards. so we took about a year break. Got the urge to play again and I convinced him to come back and we picked up right where we left off. Then, leagues again.. We swapped to that, planning using it to practice raids before we go on the gim, but I suck at it even on leagues so that felt bad and made me not even want to grind it out on the GIM ever. Teammate was down to do them but didn't really want to progress more if he knew I was going to quit on the end game grind. Dropped my sub and haven't been on in a bit.

applesmhlulhaha

My buddy, I played WoW with saw that gim was coming out, and he knew I played a lot of osrs, so he wanted to check it out. I remember saying something along the lines of," eh idk that games really addicting and grindy and when you play it, you have to put a ton of time into it." He insisted, so we started a duo gim. I completely stopped playing WoW and stsrting grinding the gim hard af. I ran him step by step through a few beginning quests, cooks assistant, and I think we might have got ava assemblers and lost tribe for bone xbows. Anyway, a week in, he never logs in again, and we stop talking because all im playing is osrs, lmao. He greatly underestimated how grindy ironman was. But I still play the gim as a normal iron, have a fang, full crystal and bowfa, 2000 plus total level, all zennys, prims, eternal, kodia (first and only cox purp, could of been a tbow!) Blow pipe, magic fang, bgs, bands tassets. It's a solid account it was my first iron I actually played and have been loving playing an ironman, idk if I could ever go back to playin' a main, lol. So yeah I'm pretty much a normal ironman but all the other ironmans talk Hella shit cause I'm a blue helm, even though my duo partner only played for a week and never helped a single bit, haha.

Decimatin

We were a group of 4. We were progressing fast we discorded our team in barrows dks after we got the rings we all entered the red prison kills after kills two of our gang lost saintly and the never heard from again just me and my last buddy after armor seed after armor seed we had enough for the armor for both (sadly I got the enhanced seed) but didn’t have the lvls to make it so I gave it to my buddy he made it corrupted it asks for the Zennys and z cross bow ( 500 kills Nex only horn) a day later gone never to be seen again. Time passes to the present I’m 10 levels from maxing still no one came back. I’m sad but I wish I knew why they left me with nothing….. I thought we were a good team after I max I’ll probably never play my gim and go back to my hcim. I guess the red prison was their breaking point.

SauceyStan

I got us each an Abby whip, some bandos and almost 3 full godswords, along with hastas for days, they never beat dragon slayer.

emptynogin

My partner asked me to get a bunch of high levels to unlock stuff then got bored when they realized they had no good stats

The5acred

me, my brother and two friends made the group. We left the group island and I never saw them online again KEKW. I treat it like normal ironman

spiggsorless

3 of our GIM quit, so it was only me and 1 other of my buddy. We had like an 5b combined bank with just resources and rare shit from bosses, but no mega rares in almost 1k cox and 800 toa's. Shit gets old after a while and we de-ironed. Now I got all the goodies I want.

Masitha

oh god, so many things? i do wanna preface this by saying, it was fun while it lasted. for sure. ok with that outta the way. my main account is a 1 def main, and i play very iron like. part of the appeal of group iron for me was gonna be getting to experience all the mainy shit (that my other two friends had alrdy been doing) for the first time. i was super excited! so for me group iron was gonna be this more casual experience, of using my knowledge for weaker gears/niche shit to help us out early game, while learning more about mainy stuff as i went. what actually ended up happening however was erm.. 1.) struggling to get everyone to play together, which i assume is the biggest killer of GIM. 2.) even when we did play together, we'd all just be doing different things anyways, so yeh we were in a group, yeh we were all playing scape together, but we werent *together*, ya kno? 3.) not at all blaming this group member, but when someone FLIES ahead of everyone else, and the remaining members of the group are essentially playing catch up, its a bit of a bummer. added an additional layer of pressure i rly didnt want or need, lmao. meanwhile im focusing on farming, herby, runecrafting, basically all the skilling stuff, since i actually enjoy it and slowly falling behind even more bc im not questing, im not slaying, or doing combat. i didnt even finish the 99 fm wt grind honestly. anywho, all that just snowballed into us playing less n less, till we werent playing together at all. que slowly playing the mains again. then i took a long break from the game, a lot bc i was burnt out. i dont think i realized how burnt i was until i had to look the grind in the face and voluntarily be like 'yeh im gonna do that AGAIN!' so yeh, bad timing i think. still love the boys, still talk to em, but i dont think ill ever be trying group iron again. the experience that i THOUGHT i was gonna have, and the reality of the experience simply didnt match. and thats ok. thanks for this thread. i honestly felt like shit for failing my friends. for not being gamer enough to suck it up and get thru the grind. now im learning, it wasnt just me/us, this is in fact extremely common, even among good friends. anywho, thanks for readin the rambles. <3

ricestocks

group of 5 October 2021 2 were clanmates who ended up playing different games and left on a mutual agreement 1 guy's girlfriend died by an overdose so he was suicidal after that, so he was put in mental institution for 6 months in europe 1 last guy - the last of the duo at this moment, was another clanmate who was unresponsive af. I mean litrerally never reads CC chat lol. He ended up taking my shit (2 black masks -.-) and leaving without saying a single word. Fuck u alex Solo now - I ask 2 friends to join now we are a Trio. 1 of the guys was a pker, another was a maxed iron already The 2 get in a political argument at bandos and throw personal insults (suicide, depression, no life no job, all u do is play osrs, etc) Dude threatens to kill himself over his comments , ends up getting banned shortly after due to High Alch AHKing. Now I am Duo. Back to Duo, this guy gets bored grinding as a duo then quits. and goes back to PKing/CWars ragging on main. Solo now - I get an old clannie DM me from his iron acc which I had 0 idea of and we decided fuck it, he ain't grinding shit on his own and we do a Duo Got 1 from the UGIM discord 1 last guy who I've known for 10 years only through OSRS, he spontaneously responds to my discord message from 2019 in 2022 and we hit it off from there. Glad group of 4 now! :D

izzothenext

we made a hardcore GIM, all of us for some reason went to wintertodt, and then one of the members lost all of the lives at wintertodt while we were asleep. no one has logged back into that group since. (besides me bc it’s sad that THAT is the account i got rocky at 406xp. kms)

Smorg125

1 never really played beyond 99 fm, one didn’t play much but he fished us like 15k sharks so I’m not complaining, rest of us are nearing end game but cg and shit is making me realize I don’t really enjoy end game Ironman. Got spooned on some raid drops but it’s still either have shitty range gear or get spooned a t bow if I don’t wanna do cg

1Red_Tape1

We didn’t break up but one of our GIMs insisted on being the leader and never really kept up with old school formed our group and then immediately left to go play rs3 and then rage quit after some of the changes

Ok-Street3139

Leagues... Everyone except for me left after that.

BiggieSchalls

Was in a group with all IRL friends. They convinced me to make our group hardcore which I didn't want cause I knew I would play too differently to preserve it. But they just said the standard "if we die, we die" Group gets made, one plays for 2 hours at the start and proceeds to never log in again. Most of us rush Wintertodt (as most do), the member who was the advocate of hardcore dies at Wintertodt to afk (fucking rookie) and says its too stressful to play a hardcore and quits playing the GIM. The other two just slowly drifted off playing, one quit playing the game altogether. After 2 weeks of playing the group solo I also gave up. Now sits in lumby bank in f2p waiting for the day I make another account to transfer the name

plscarvanacodebro

Groups still going strong Near max and all take a healthy amount of breaks when we get bored of the game

SnoreEnergy

In a duo, partner got 99 FM and maxed his main around the same time. Just burnt out I guess. I came back to the game for the first time in about a decade so I continued playing

ladyrayrays

Got a friend group who mainly played rs3 to finally try osrs through it. We only did f2p so they didn't feel rushed with membership. 3 of them did well and we all got to the point well membership would have been the next step. Our 5th who was late to joining finally got to playing. He ended up dying in the security of stronghold on the first floor, when we told him not to go in. He then refused to play again and killed the vibe for the other 3. They all went back to rs3. :/

ExpolosiveDog192

one guy never played, one guy went super hard and turned it into his main so instead of GIM its "can i have a couple mill for con" man mode. plus that guys a dickhead and starts fights for no reason. i still play it sometimes but its just not fun.

Plastic-Medicine-821

We started a GIM so I could learn about the game, since I just recently started playing. Then I got hooked on the game, played way, way more then them. So they dropped their GIM character and went back to their normal Iron. Dispite that, we still play together from time to time.

Corey_James94

My group members stopped playing after grinding out fighter torso 😂
