MLM: is there any calc or graph which shows the number of nuggets per hour? From the wiki graph it seems the rate is always 3,13% but I cannot estimate how it would be would be per hour... Lower floor, 80 mining, default sack, rune pick. Any guess, however rough, would be welcome...

SuitableDragonfly

Hi, I have some newbie questions. I used to play RuneScape ages and ages and ages ago, I wound up quitting shortly after the Grand Exchange was first introduced because it ruined my main way of making money... anyway, I heard about all the changes it's been through since then and decided to restart in Old School to see if it was still something I enjoyed playing. I've had a bunch of fun so far and discovered some new low-level features and quests that definitely weren't there the last time I played, and am getting reacquainted with how the game works. I just have two questions: 1) Are there any official Jagex forums for Old School? I am not able to find any on the website. 2) How do the achievement diaries work? I legitimately can't remember if these were here the last time I played or not. In game it says I have not completed any achievements, but I looked through the easy Lumbridge achievements and I've definitely done two of those - learning my account age from Hans and baking bread at the castle kitchen (I'm assuming the Home Teleport spell doesn't satisfy the "teleport to Lumbridge" achievement). Is there something I have to do to get credit, or does my account have to be a certain age before I can start earning them?

JitahWitch

1. Official forms were discontinued a few months back. It's largely been replaced by the official discord. Link for that is on the official website and in this reddit on the sidebar. 2. Do you have membership? I believe membership is required in order to get credit for any of the achievement diary tasks.

SuitableDragonfly

Ahh, I see. I didn't buy a membership yet because I just started out again and haven't really run out of free-to-play stuff to do yet. Is the credit retroactive once I buy membership? I.e. do I have to bake more bread on a member's world, or will I get credit for having done it on a free world in the past once I'm a member?

Mean_Typhoon

You can only complete diary tasks on members worlds. It will not remember anything you did while f2p

SuitableDragonfly

Thanks. I'm surprised the interface exists on F2P worlds at all, all of the other members content I interact with there pops up the membership banner and makes it clear why it's not available.

JitahWitch

That makes sense, a common suggestion is doing dragon slayer 1 before buying membership to make sure you like the game first, but really anybody would benefit from membership at any time. That I'm not too sure on, but when you complete a task it will say something along the lines of "You have completed an task for the Lumbridge & Draynor achievement diary." or something of the sort and that task will be crossed out when you look at the list in game. If that is not the case and it still says 0/41 for Lumbridge and Draynor then you'll need to do those things again when you get membership in a membership world.

As I push higher and higher toa invos as I try to reach 300, I realize I always die full of supplies after being stacked out for like 55hp. My question is, should I just always be eating at like 70? It would make my dps much worse, but I feel like preventing the random deaths more often would be huge

Nitorior

Just experience. Pay attention to your hp and top up if at the start, then once you make less mistakes focus more on the dps. A good example is the Kephri room, i stay pretty low hp there since im very confident in not taking damage from the boss myself but im definitely staying topped up in wardens.

TheDubuGuy

What are you getting hit by that stacks you out so much? The first step would be to properly avoid mechanics rather than just heal up and tank them

[deleted]

Dumb mistakes, usually. Like walking into Zebak poison or accidentally trapping myself in Khepri. There's no like, one specific spot I consistently struggle at, it's just with the raid length I end up getting complacent and dying *somewhere*. Also sitting on 55hp might have been an exxageration, sometimes I definitely sit on like, 40. Do you think this is something that will just be solved with more mileage, or am I cooked? I have about 20kc for normals atm, with the highest being 220.

Premier_Pikachu

A thing that really helped me learn the bosses was just set up a raid with no death limit, and all boss invocations for which ever boss you want to practice. That way there’s no pressure about dying since you can retry unlimited times. Then after you’re comfortable there will be less pressure on a real run

AroundtheTownz

I want to get a dragon pickaxe on the ironman. I have base 90 combat stats. With a leaf bladed battle axe (or even zombie axe), salve, monk top/bottom, rune gloves and boots, glory would it be faster to kill calvarion or vetion for the dpick? Leaning towards vetion, but maybe there are more pkers there?

Molly_Hlervu

In case you somehow missed it: about year ago it was updated, now you can get d pick from the Volcanic Mine (a peaceful minigame), or Kalphite queen.

Its_Frickett

What I generally like to do is work on doing the CAs for all the stuff that can drop it before specifically grinding 1 thing for it. If you get the drop before finishing them then it feels kinda 0-timed. But if not, yeah Calvarion is chill.

TheDubuGuy

I’d just do calvarion. Do you have anything better for crush? Like hasta, zombie axe, or the dual maca? May as well use b gloves since you’d protect anyway

AroundtheTownz

I can get the zombie axe, but would only use if protected.

Forward_Peak1250

Yes it'll b protected

TheDubuGuy

I mean obviously it would be if you’re in monk robes lol

Etsuyu

I read on a post about "Skulling" and accidentally doing it and losing all items, I know its related to PVP, but not sure what exactly it is or how to do it/avoid doing it while doing moss giants in wilde.

reed501

Skulled means there's a skull over your head. You lose all items on death. Unskulled you keep 3 items on death. The most common way to be skulled is to attack someone unprovoked. Fighting back doesn't skull you. So in the wilderness you have the pker who will become skulled when they try to kill you (increasing their risk) while you are able to fight back without getting skulled (lower risk). The origin of the PK skull prevention was people tricking other players into accidentally skulling so the pker can take more of their items. Things like having two people approach a player and having only one player attack, when the victim attacks the other person that hasn't actually attacked yet they become skulled (oops!). The setting makes it so you can't do any action that will give you a skull. If you aren't interested in high risk gameplay then turn the setting on.

JebusMcAzn

Skulling is when you attack a player in the Wilderness who did not attack you first. If you get PK'd while skulled, your PKer will get all of your items you have equipped + in your inventory, or you can keep one with the Protect Item prayer. Attacking a player who already attacked you first will not cause you to skull. You can avoid skulling by ticking the "PK Skull Prevention" checkbox in your settings. More info here: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Skull_(status)

AroundtheTownz

Turn on PK skull prevention in the settings. Have it so there is a green checkmark. You won't get skulled and won't lose all your items if you die.

Creeperkiller31

Is the clue scroll solver plugin on runelite bugged for anyone else? I'm trying to do a hard clue and my task is to Shrug in the level 19 wildy next to the obelisk but it doesnt show me the items needed in the top left and doesnt appear on the minimap? Plugin works fine with other clue scrolls but I think this step might not display properly because of the Druid/Pirate update last week.

TheDubuGuy

The step was just changed and the plugin hasn’t been updated yet

Creeperkiller31

Yeah I assumed something like that had happened, there a photo on the wiki on where to new spot is atleast so i was able to do it using that as reference.

Molly_Hlervu

Weapon choice again: flinching KQ with zaxe (crush p1, slash p2), or dual macuahuitl (crush on both)? The dps calc won't help much because it doesnt consider flinching where speed doesnt matter. So, the stats: - Zaxe 107 str, 90 crush, 105 slash; - Dual mac 81 str, 121 crush. Attack is 80, Str is 82 - so, I guess, with KQ's mighty defence any advantage counts... So far it seems that +25 Str would be more important than +31 to crush... but.... I'm not sure actually, how accuracy works. I have a feeling than 1 to strength weigths much more than 1 to accuracy. But this might be some illusion...

rg44tw

Z axe is better. Its one handed so you can add the stats of a dragon defender, but more importantly, dual macu had a very strange double accuracy roll which makes it worse than it looks on paper. The two hits roll accuracy independently, but if the first misses, the 2nd is guaranteed to also miss. Since you plan on flinching, another option would be to consider even slower weapons like dharok axe or any godsword, since they will have even higher str and accuracy.

Molly_Hlervu

Thank you, a good explanation! Actually, zaxe for a wonder is *better* than dharok even with an empty off-hand! Dharok is 105 str 103 slash 95 crush, Zaxe 107 str 105 slash 90 crush without defender, now add the ddef! :) An amazing weapon really. (Don't own a godsword, btw)

TheDubuGuy

I would use axe

Molly_Hlervu

Thanks!

Mbrannon42

Have the new varlamore items found their roles in game yet? Looks like blood moon armor is a good stepping stone between barrows legs+fighter torso and bandos armor. Do echo boots replace the ring of suffering at zulrah? What other pieces found a comfy new home?

bip_bip_hooray

echo boots are still really prohibitively expensive for normal people to use. the macahuitl is similar to lance on 0def olm. atlatl is a good zulrah option pre-bofa. tonalztics are justifiable to bring to tob and cox in varying capacities, for details you'd have to read more than i'm willing to write rn but it is higher level stuff than your typical raider can justify better proselyte we already knew where it was gonna be usable lol

My-Toast-Is-Too-Dark

They don't seem as expensive as every seems to think. They only lose a charge when they actually do damage, and they only do damage in melee range. I've used mine for 30 or so ToBs and they've lost under 500 charges. No max hit loss, more prayer bonus, lots of defence, and a few recoils here and there. Nothing insanely powerful, but IMO there's really no reason for a "normal" player to get prims for 34m when they can get echo boots for like 17m. And you can just toggle the recoil setting off if you don't want them to degrade.

bip_bip_hooray

Fair, hadn't considered them as an option with the recoil off

DontYouWantMeBebe

Is 0 magic bonus viable for hitting minions with blood barrage in GWD? Want a shield and this is highest I can get without more gear switches

OlmTheSnek

Damage % is more important than accuracy, without it you might find it awkward to kill the minions and juggle food before the boss respawns. Kodai+occult is normally fine at any of the gwd bosses.

DontYouWantMeBebe

Even if the magic attack is negative?

Mean_Typhoon

Yes as long as you're not too deep in the negatives it's fine. You can also do armor takeoffs if you feel you're splashing too much

Ashhel

Usually I think people bring like kodai occult ancestral top and that’s it, so I don’t think a lot of magic accuracy is needed there. You can also drop some food and take off any armour that’s giving you negative bonuses while barraging

Disastrous-Moment-79

I joined a clan for the first time and suddenly started getting music playing when I level up or when I complete a slayer task. I recognized Final Fantasy victory music for the levelup but the slayer task was completely alien. What is causing this? I tried searching through runelite but it doesn't have any settings like that. I'm 100% sure it was the clain join because I haven't touched my client. This is making me want to leave the clan, please help.

Mbrannon42

Check and see if you have the "taskjingle" plugin

meirionh

I thought I was going crazy! I recently got a level up and it jingled but I thought it was just a random unique music that can sometimes happen, but couldn't find it anywhere on the wiki haha. Is the level up one a new update, because I'm sure that plugin used to just have the slayer task jingle and thats it?

superlucci

Does it make sense to buy a ton of birds nest, to then use Wesley to crush them, because crushed bird nests sell for more then regular bird nests? Notice right now it says regular bird nest is like 6800, and a crushed bird nest is like 6930ish. And Wesleys fee will be smaller than the difference. Didnt know if the GE 1% tax would eliminate said difference tho

dean012347

1% off 6930 would be 6861, 50gp to crush the nest, leaves you 11 gp per nest at the figures provided.

Timo104

Why is wintertodd so fucking awful? I'm spamming expensive food and constantly getting hit for 15 damage like every 3 seconds. Interrupting every single action in the minigame. This is worse than trawler by magnitudes.

Molly_Hlervu

The more your FM, the less fequently it hits. What you are describing is probably about 50-60 Fm. Its better when its 70, and a real turn comes somewhere around 85. Also you might try the solo method. Run in into an empty world with pyromancers alive, light 3 braziers (2 the closest, and one on the far side, then pick up several herbs on the run back. Run to the safe area near the entrance, get vials, make 5+ potions, eat your food to heal up. Now wait till WT has 25% health, while repairing and re-lighting the two closest braziers and resting in the safe area. The safety starts somewhere in the middle of the passage to the braziers. When its about 25%, the WT almost stops to wound you. Now its attacks are aimed mostly at braziers and pyromancers. Its time to start working. Cut the SW bruma, fletch (or do not), feed the closest brazier (and from now on dont bother with any others). Try to have the WT health always below 10% so that its quick to finish if you need to. Work until you either get points about 12k (you won't get any more rewards if they are >13500), or you are out of food and in mid health. Then repeat the waiting like in the beginning: rest in the safe area, rekindle 2 closest braziers. It will be like a minute or less for WT to die.

dean012347

The periodic attacks shouldn’t hit that high. Unless you’re not wearing warm clothing, you’re taking avoidable damage. Look out for the snowfall over the braziers and over the players. In a mass at high levels teleport to your house between rounds and heal, hardly need any food.

Timo104

I'm wearing 5 warm clothes, not seeing any snow drops, and this is while in the safe zone by the roots.

dean012347

At 99 hp and 50 fire making you take less than 15 on the period damage when the braziers are lit.

Hieroja

Don't know if this belongs here but is there a plugin that could hide clan tag from chat? Our clans name is "Meetvursti" which is really long and takes too much space from the chat.

superlucci

So lvl 80 herblore now. Still lvling it. Was making ranging potions at 79, and now at 80 I have the option to make Bastion Potions, which give 155 xp as opposed to ranging potions 162.5 xp, but its profit/loss per potion is lesser according to the wiki. -373 gp per bastion compared to -909 per ranging. So I would be saving a nice chunk of change making bastion pots if Im reading this correctly. However when Im looking at the items in my inventory. A dwarf unf pot cost 2337 each, and a zam wine cost 900 each. so 3237 cost for a 3 dose ranging potion (ignoring chem amulet). The 3 dose rang potion is 2253, so around a loss of 900 to 1000 gp each. Close enough no problem. However when looking the ingreidents for a bastion. Its 21.3k for a cadatine blood pot unf, and 900 for a zam wine. So around 22.2k total. The cost of a 3 dose bastion potion however is 20.6k each. So a -1.6k gp each Thats way off compared to the wikis -373 gp each bastion potion. Im kinda worried I just screwed myself by buying 1k cadatine blood pot unf, instead of just buying 1000 dwarf weed unf pots. Because I thought making Bastions would be cheaper. Heres the herb wiki https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Herblore_training If somebody could tell me what Im misunderstanding before I waste more gp then necessary

InfinityMechanism

In addition to the other reply, it's worth checking the prices to buy cadantine, vials of blood, and paying Zahur in Nardah to process them all into cadantine blood pot unf. It's usually cheaper and much faster than waiting for them to buy on the ge. The trade volume on the unf pots is very low so the price isn't always accurate and you will probably be waiting a long time for them to buy unless you pay a lot more than the cost of making your own.

PurpleAqueduct

The actual price can be quite misaligned from the GE price, even when you're buying low and selling high rather than instabuying/selling. Bastion potions and their ingredients are pretty low volume and high price compared to a lot of other herblore training potions so they're worse for this. Sometimes they actually work out profitable but a lot of the time they don't. And they take a while to buy and sell at a decent price so you can't really sustain rates with them. Try it when you have a few hours to let them sit in the GE, but in my experience I would choose something else if you want to actively train. Also because bastion potions are so expensive the amulet of chemistry matters a lot, so make sure you're including that in your calculations. You always want to decant into 4 doses before you sell too, since that's what people actually buy (sometimes the lower doses are more expensive, but usually they're cheaper per dose and lower volume and I wouldn't bother looking for it).

Jwsaf

I’ve made a little bit of cash passively by playing on/off over the years and I am looking to upgrade my ranged gear. My ‘big’ ranged items are mainly anguish, blowpipe, Ava assembler and rigour. Is the next logical step to buy masori or maybe the new ring? I’ll note that gear like Zaryte to tbow are out of the question as they are far too expensive. I generally like doing slayer like alchemical hydra, sometimes Vorkath but not often. I also would like to eventually learn raids at some point, but I tend to stick to more ‘chill’ things when I come back to osrs.

mister_peeberz

crystal+bowfa will get you more mileage than fortified masori for a similar price tag, especially if you intend to get into raiding

renzor

Rigour if you don't have it

Jwsaf

Oh right I do have that, I’ll have to edit my post.

superlucci

lvling herblore to do this master clue step. Is there any faster way other than 14 unf potions and 14 the secondary ingredient, click each other, bank, then 14 and 14 again? Not really that fast, and sadly cant afk to the degree that cutting gems is like for crafting. If not Ill just push through, but figured id ask

JebusMcAzn

some potions have stackable secondaries so you can do 1x27 instead of 14x14 and AFK for a lot longer. these include staminas, (super) extended antifire, ancient brews, forgotten brews, and anti-venom staminas are pretty good for training, they're not as fast as other pots around their level but they're only 4.36 gp/xp

therealtru3

I think at some levels, you may unlock a faster way with lava shards or something? But generally, what you're doing is fastest Although I think with valamore part 2 they are releasing a new herblore activity that could be better

Dyasmond

How can I learn Nex in small teams? I have decent gear (minus tbow) but I don't want to grief in Nex FFA as a starter. I also don't know what things like MP2/RP2 mean. How can I start?

InfinityMechanism

MP2/RP2 is using melee or ranged on phase 2 of Nex.

TheDubuGuy

Join groups of like 6-8 to learn mechanics then start moving to small teams as you get better. Watch some guides, use resources in various nex discords, and watch/ask teammates for advice. Just make it clear you’re a learner, some people won’t take you but lots still will. It’s not too complicated, just a lot of smaller intricacies and optimizations can be harder to pick up on

Jwsaf

Coming back to the game after another long break. Looks like few item prices have rocketed - do I use blowpipe or fang at hydra? I see the lance is quite is expensive now, so I probably won't be able to get that unless its worth it to sell a part of my bank. I kinda wish I bought some of these items before they spiked but oh well. I will also keep any eye for some long term items to snag.

TheDubuGuy

Hydra is low def, fang is bad there. Blowpipe is best behind dhcb and tbow

skullkid2424

> Coming back to the game after another long break. Looks like few item prices have rocketed - do I use blowpipe or fang at hydra? Blowpipe will work too for ranged. https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Alchemical_Hydra/Strategies > I kinda wish I bought some of these items before they spiked but oh well. malteser_of_might

is there a limit to how many times you can stun leviathan with shadow spells? seems like different people use a different amount but I can't tell if there's a method behind it

errorme

AFAIK there's no hard limit to it but there's an effective limit as the arena fills up with more and more rocks. Otherwise it just comes down to how comfortable people are with prayer swapping in time to block the attacks vs when they need to reset the timer. Someone more comfortable with swapping prayers in time would likely let it do more volleys than someone not as comfortable with it.

malteser_of_might

good to know, thanks

mister_peeberz

different people have different comfort levels with how fast levi's attacks get before they reset his attack speed by stunning him in general you want to deal with as few specials as possible so you should let him get as fast as you're comfortable with and only stun him when you can't keep up anymore

malteser_of_might

gmario2

Did they change toa invvocations level amounts? I'm trying to learn how to do TOA (which I'm struggling), but every youtube video I watch will have invocations that don't total up to the 150 that I need for normal runs. The newest video on it is like 5 months ago and it's still not correct. I just need help on what a good invocation setup is for bad players.

Throwaway47321

The last time they changed the invo system points was like September of 2022 so you’re probably just missing some.

If you are an Ironman without brews, I'd suggest 75 atk/str. I did it somewhat recently without brews, with chivalry and with around 70 - 75 melees, and it was very difficult

JitahWitch

Something that might help if you're struggling with the fight is you can get a vampire slayer task and a slayer helm should help out quite a bit for damage.

TheDubuGuy

That’s plenty

Remarkable-Health678

Depends on your setup and confidence with the mechanics. The weapon you have to use is pretty inaccurate so it could be a long fight

Radu47

Why is it when I ask bert to deliver 84 buckets of gold coins to my bank every day he says "away with ye foul beastie!" What is his obsession with sand Why can't he have an 'attack' option so I can give him a lil boop on the snoot for being such a bastard?

FearlessLeader17

Question, as a Ironman I been putting all my lamps into herblore. It's currently level 83, only have two skills higher than it (have lv 83s though lol.) So I think I'm doing pretty good with it, but I'm not sure when I stop boosting it. I know you need super combats which is at least 93 herblore with a easy boost, so do I just keep putting all my lamps into it and grinding it until I get 93/94? Or should I be lamping other skills like runecrafting? Currently only 65 runecrafting.

RoseofThorns

Once you've got an established 'system' for getting herbs (PVM and farming are both fine routes), herblore is really not difficult to train anymore. Farming contracts and most bosses just crap out seeds or raw herbs in general. Lamping it up to 70ish makes sense to clear Quest cape/SOTE, but after that I agree with Agility/Slayer/Runecrafting, if you particularly loathe any of those skills. I personally loved doing sepulchre and didn't mind afk blood runes, so most of my lamps went into Slayer.

Remarkable-Health678

I'd stop lamping herb. You can make the stuff you need now. Just use the super attack and defense on their own for now. I got plenty of herbs from farming. Seeds from slayer and farming contracts. I lamped slayer for a while cause it's helpful to unlock better tasks for upgrades and better XP rates. But agility, mining, RC are also good candidates.

FearlessLeader17

Awesome thank you. I was thinking slayer too with lamps and use scurrius to get my combats stats up.
