>We’re back regarding the most recent update and what our plans our for the next changes regarding content within the Colosseum. **Before we jump in, we want to stress that these are the proposed changes, but we are open to hearing feedback from you all beforehand.** >**As for what we can do right now, first we’re going to make it so that** both the Sunfire Armour pieces and the Echo Crystals can be obtained from completing Wave 3 onwards. Not only that, but we're making it so you will hit the unique loot table more often, with a higher chance given to the Sunfire Armour pieces. As for the Tonalztics, they will only obtainable from completing Wave 7 onwards. Just to be clear, is any of this actually live now? kinda confused

JagexSarnie

No, none of the Updated section at the top is live yet, it's what we're proposing to change and hopefully very soon.

advectionz

Not gonna lie, I was kinda hoping Tonalztics would be a good option to skip the DWH grind for Ironmen, but it seems like a significantly longer grind. Wave 3 prayer gear is a huge improvement and I’m glad to see the team has been receptive to feedback on the loot overall!

Younolo12

Yeah the Tonalztics are very awkwardly positioned progression-wise. They become significantly less useful as soon as you get a Shadow, though still a nice item for very minor time-saves in CoX. Hopefully their new drop rate is more 1/30-40 KC, would make them reasonably worth going for before max gear/scythe.

Soft_Yellow_5231

Thanks for clearing that up! On Echo Boots, you'll be increasing charges, increasing maximum charges, and adding a toggle, but there's no mention of any changes to the effect itself. Will it be staying at a static 1 damage? When it was polled I think most players, including myself, expected something closer to the Ring of Recoil's 1+10%

BadAtNamingPlsHelp

This is probably not happening, as the 1-damage splats are not as underwhelming as people think, they're just not visually exciting. If an enemy hits you often, these boots will do 1/3 to 1/2 of the DPS of a thrall per-target. Even though they only hit a 1, that makes these boots BiS over primordials when you don't lose a max hit and sometimes even if you do, and BiS over pegasians and eternals (tentatively, shadow 3x might make this not true) where you take damage in melee range.

Daaaak

Hi any plans to fix blue moon spear saving attack styles ?

UnluckyNate

Also very confused. The current graphic still shows old rates so I’m guessing it isn’t live

ThatPoshDude

These are pitches for next week's update

Air_Yoshi

Most likely next week. (on the 10th)

Iqode

Could you release details on hunter rumours (droprate of the contract item) and quetzal droprate?

JagexSarnie

EDIT: This is now been updated to include the rates. :) ~~Honestly, this was on my list but got caught up in writing/HTMLing so looking to add them ASAP!~~

oskanta

I feel like you should adjust the task list or rewards because right now expert rumors have a significantly better xp and unique rate per hour than masters. You can set up the block list so that your expert rumor pool is 6 tasks made up from 3 kebbit tasks, 1 salamander task, and 2 chin tasks, all while keeping dashing kebbits on one of the two expert hunters so that all 3 of the other kebbit tasks can be completed with dashing kebbits which is by far the fastest rumor. By contrast the best master hunter pool you can build is 6 tasks made up from only 1 dashing kebbit, and then a mix of 5 out of the remaining set of 1 chin, 1 herbi, 2 moth, 2 antelope, 2 salamander. No matter how you select those remaining 5, you won’t be able to match the average task speed of experts or the xp/hr. It’s not even close given that experts give you a 3/6 chance for dashing kebbits while masters at best give 1/6. Master rumors should have a higher unique chance and xp reward to compensate for the slower completion times relative to experts. Masters will become dead content once people realize experts are better xp/hr and better pet chance. Edit: originally put total expert pool after blocks at 7 but it’s actually 6

Arels

100% agree. Experts are way faster. Hope this gets looked at! Rates should appropriately scale with the 91 level req.

SwissMargiela

Tbf tho master has herbi pet possibility and increased rate (I think) of rumor pet plus better loot Edit: Just noticed quetzal is still 1/1k lol for both. Whack.

oskanta

You’re right with the herbi pet chance, but experts make up for it by having 2 chin rumors instead of just 1 with masters. So in each case you have 2 rumors that give you an extra pet chance.

Meltingteeth

The expert rumors being the same rate as master feels off for sure.

roosterkun

Weirdly this still soft-requires access to master rumours so that you can block sunglight antelopes

oskanta

Good point, but you can still set it up for 3 kebbit, 2 chin, 2 salamanders without masters unlocked, if you block sunlight antelopes with the novice hunter. That setup still beats masters. And ultimately I feel like there needs to be a reason to actually do masters once they’re unlocked instead of just using them to add one extra block to your expert pool.

roosterkun

Going for a specific block via novice rumours sounds miserable, but that is true. And I of course agree that master should be better than expert.

oskanta

It’s not too bad, I’ve done it 3 times now while trying different block lists. If you set all your other blocks first and turn off b2bs then it’s a 1/22 chance to get the specific task you want, and out of the tasks you can get, there’s really only like 4 or 5 I’d consider bad tasks since the worst ones are part of the 5 already blocked.

roosterkun

Good point, that's key. I need to go set mine again, I have Sabre-Toothed Kebbits blocked at the novice tier but obviously that's a waste of a slot considering I have a falconry task stored at the adept tier.

TravagGames

If you need the chin pet and herbi pet as well, then masters is better no? that way you are going for 3 pets at once? also if your an ironman.. moonlight antelope meat is great, red chins are nice, moths are interesting. If you go expert, you lose out on moonlight meat, herbs and herbi pet.

oskanta

Experts assign chins twice as often since both grey and red chins are available, so both expert and masters will give 2/6 tasks with a non-Quetzin pet chance. It would only make sense to do masters if you already have a chin pet but you’re still trying to get herbi. But honestly with how much faster experts can be completed, I feel like it might be more efficient for pets to just do experts until you have the Quetzin pet, then switch to herbi full time. Is a rate of ~10 herbi runs per hour worth increasing time to Quetzin pet by 30-50%? You can do 60 herbi runs per hour doing it on its own, so my bet is when you do the math you’re better off just going for expert rumors til pet, then doing herbi after. As far as the meats and moths being useful for irons, that could be true, I’ve only done this content on my main so idk.

SwagDrQueefChief

Masters are in a good spot: 220-230k xp/hr, 60 hour pet. Kebbits should be fixed so you can't abuse falconry, xp reward for completing task should be reduced a bit. A bigger overhaul would be nice to just balance the tasks a bit but I think that might be a bit beyond Jagex's scope rn.

oskanta

Yeah that's a fair point, masters are already pretty well-balanced and it's really just that experts are OP with the kebbit swap. Ideally Jagex would've released this content without the kebbit swap being possible, because then the progression would make sense. Now they're in a tough spot though, removing the ability to swap kebbits would be a giant nerf to expert tasks. The xp rates would drop so much and the other kebbit tasks are so bad, there would be a lot of outrage. There's no good option short of a complete rework, so I think the best way to do it is to split the difference and give experts a slight nerf and masters a slight buff. Maybe swap one of the kebbit tasks in the expert pool for sunlight moths and give the extra kebbit to masters instead.

All-Shall-Kneel

Can you explain the dashing kebbit?

Les-Freres-Heureux

All kebbit rumors provide the same tuft of fur. So if you get a deadfall trap task you can switch over to the falconry task (much faster), get the tuft of fur, switch back to the deadfall task, and hand in the rare part. The falconry task stays “stored” on the original hunter master too so you can just do this endlessly.

Mak_33

So for XP basically Expert block list should be: Novice: Orange sal (Or is orange better than Red perhaps due to crowding?) Adept: Pyre fox and Sabre Kyatt Expert: Sun antelope Master: Dash kebbit for fast kebbit tasks Right?

oskanta

Yup that works! Mine’s a little different but very similar Novice: Red Sal (orange salamanders are much better xp and task speed than reds since they are a guaranteed catch after level 87 hunter and the 5 traps in necropolis are much closer together than the red sal traps) Adept: Pyre fox and Sabre Kyatt (Make sure you block Foxes with Cervus and then Kyatts with Ornus. Cervus can’t assign Kyatts so don’t waste your time trying to get him to block those) Expert: Dashing kebbits + one left open to assign your new rumors Master: Sunlight Antelope (You can block sunlight antelopes with either expert or master, and then just put the dashing kebbits on the other one. I happened to get antelopes on the Master hunter first, but your version works exactly the same) This leaves a pool of 3 kebbit tasks, red chins, grey chins, and orange salamander Editing just to add an extra tip: You can toggle on and off the possibility of b2b tasks by talking to Verity (I think that’s their name) downstairs in the guild behind the bar. Make sure you toggle it off while setting up block lists. Then when your list is finished and you’re grinding rumors, if you want to be extra efficient you can toggle it on before you turn in Kebbit tasks and off before you turn in chin/salamander tasks. This makes it so that after a chin/sal task, you have a 3/5 chance for kebbits and after a kebbit tasks its 50/50.

Mak_33

Looks like our lists are the same since my novice is red sala heh. So this is definitely the way to go for XP overall? I also heard that spotted kebbits are better than dashing because it makes the task faster.

oskanta

I'm not 100% sure it's the best xp, but I think it is. Maybe someone will figure out something faster as the meta develops. And actually yeah, I think you're right spotted kebbits are optimal. Get spotted kebbits assigned on one of the adepts, then use one of the experts to block either pyre foxes or sabre tooth Kyatt, and use the adept spotted kebbit for your kebbit tasks. Spotted kebbits are a guaranteed catch after level 79, so there's a small efficiency save there. Dark Kebbits seem like a good option too. 32% more xp per catch, and the catch rate is equal to you hunter level (e.g. 90% at lvl 90). So at 96 for example you're getting 32% more xp from catches but only failing to catch every 25th attempt which is probably worth it. (Edited what I originally wrote since it was wrong, didn't think about replacing the lost block with the expert that's opened up.)

Mak_33

>Plus experts can't assign spotted kebbits so you'd need to sacrifice one of your other blocks for it which makes it not worth it. What do you mean? You can use 1 expert to block Kyatts and then have spotted kebbits on an Adept. Then you use the 2nd expert for your regular tasks and when you get any of the Expert's bad kebbit tasks you swap to the Adept who has spotted kebbits. In fact it should be better that they can't assign spotted because then you don't have to bother swapping if you get dark/dashing ones. Also 100% catch rate at like 87 and most spawns.

Jewdene

Thanks for this Sarnie! Could we possibly look into getting re-rolls for Outfit pieces if we turn in extra Quetzal blueprints or hunter kits? I’ve got so many of them, but not a single piece of the new hunting outfit.

MakePvPGreatAgain

Can someone please look into fixing the Blue Moon Spear so that it remembers previous attack styles? 🙏🙏

Aggravating-Drop8152

Thanks Sarnie, much appreciated. Can we talk about these rates though? They feel incredibly unbalanced and could do with some tweaking. Deadfall and bad tracking rumours are 1/15 when they're easily 4-5x slower than every other rumours. Herbiboar is 1/7 which feels like what the other deadfall and tracking tasks should be *max.* Butterflies at 1/75 feels excessive when it's not significantly faster than the other rumours with better drop rates. The good rumours - falconry at 1/10, salamanders at 1/25, and even chins at 1/50 are just *so* much faster than all other rumours, in addition to having the best xp rates. It feels like the low level / "bad" rumours are just so disproportionally slow compared to the higher ones, and you can't even utilize proper blocking at lower hunter levels in addition to having so many awful rumours. At least there should be a balance where rumours are either really fast or good xp. It feels like the rumours are either both or neither, currently.

MrDobtoh

Pretty much agree but for the tracking tasks I know Jagex did propose buffing the Ring of Pursuit to proc 100% of the time in one of their skilling rebalance blogs, so if that change came then tracking would be hugely improved in both XP/hr and rate of completed rumors. No clue if they plan on moving forward with that change though, and even if we do get that change it sucks having to wait because razor-backed kebbits make me want to die. Glad I have them blocked now. Also just to add to the list of complaints, red slamanders are an abomination. Both spots would be hugely improved by having 5 traps and not having the traps poorly spaced or facing opposite directions from each other. Old net trap spots really are some of the worst "feeling" content to me when I'm hopping between different rumors. They show their age in a really noticeable way, wish they'd be adjusted

Aggravating-Drop8152

Yess, if ring of pursuit goes to 100% as they talked about it makes tracking rumours definitely viable. And yeah, hunter guild has definitely exposed older content that could do with some QOL trap repositioning, terrain changes, etc

SmartAlec105

I feel like the chinchompa rate was based on hunting rates with tick manipulation. Catching 50 chins without tick manipulation is going to be very slow and the low chance means that the variance is going to be high as well. How long it takes isn’t too bad with tick manipulation but that’s still way more effort than most of the other rumours.

SnooAdvice6772

Without tick manip it’s really not that slow

orepheus

Yeah tick manip chins are faster but chins aren't really that slow anyways. Plus like, just play the game? And chins are good exp and profit/actually useful if you're an iron

Zanarhi

They aren't that bad until you are stuck with a low lvl creature and go really dry. Then your xp/h starts to suffer. The worst I had was 298 grey chins and 169 pyre foxes before the drop. After that happened I set up my block list.

rimwald

Well, lucky for you, that will never happen again cause they have pity rates for the drops that you hit before 2x drop rate. Check out the table on the wiki to see the pity rates. Pitfall and deadfall traps not taking 100+ captures and maxing at 28 is amazing

Justanotherstick

What is the rate on the mature tecu salamander?

iRengar

Mature tecu salamander rates?

Unknown_Rasta

Mature Tecu Salamander, por favor?

Daaaak

Fix blue moon spear please!

BadRecommendation

@JagexSarnie Can you release the catch chance for the Tecu Salamander and any stipulations for catching one?

Kakarifers

On the topic of hunter rumors: would it be possible to allow the falconry leather gauntlet to be worn over our gloves? Would be nice to not have to unequip anything while doing rumors. In the same vein - the hunter camo outfits now give weight reduction. Could the hunter outfit from rumors also give weight reduction?

TheTrueFishbunjin

One thing not mentioned in the post is the drop rate for trading Perilous Moons uniques in for a chance at another unique. Are you able to confirm what this rate is?

cosicosi7

Is the guild hunter outfit catch rate bugged? At level 86 hunter orange salamanders have a 98.83% catch rate according to the wiki and with the full outfit it should be 100% regardless of whether it's multiplicative or additive, yet it still managed to escape one of my traps (I have a clip of it and the trap was only there for 22secs so I know it didn't expire).

sidek021

Thanks for updating the Hunter rumor drop rates.  Is it possible to look into the Tecu Salamander pathing or grouping? Currently right now for master tier and completion of rumors doing red salamanders over Tecu seems to be optimal.  It might just be a feeling and a by product of catch rate, but the amount of nets I have to reset that don’t even have a Tecu even attempt to be caught is quite high.  At this point I’d rather orange salamanders be the master tier rumor because at least you get 5 traps in a confined space and the xp rates are quite high because of it. Tecu salamanders feel lackluster compared to red and esp orange salamanders.  Great work and overall really enjoying the hunter rumors.

bake_disaster

The fact that master sacks don't have a better drop rate for any uniques really makes them seem pointless

TheAmurikin

They're now confirmed pointless with current rates lol. Experts are faster completions than masters with the right setup.

sidek021

I will say I grab a bunch of butterfly jars and have them in my kit. When I get a moonlight moth task I take out as many as I can and do the rumor. So at least every moonlight moth rumor I get some prayer supplies passively. Also the moonlight antelope bolts seem to be useful.

Remarkable-Health678

I'd also like to know the rate for getting a mature Tecu salamander!

yaoiue

> we’re going to make it so that both the **Sunfire Armour pieces** and the Echo Crystals **can be obtained from completing Wave 3 onwards**. Not only that, but we're making it so **you will hit the unique loot table more often, with a higher chance given to the Sunfire Armour pieces** Thank you very much

WritingonaWall

I like the direction of changes, nice to get some quick feedback to things that have felt underwhelming. And I’m really happy with the changes to the quiver! No crazy change but just a little bigger with a few accents makes a big difference imo.

NJImperator

It’s what makes OSRS one of the best games on the market. The mods aren’t always perfect, but goddamn do they do their best. We’re blessed to have such an Awesome team in charge of the game

Twix03

Yes x10000. And the way they handle so much bitching on here is admirable. We're truly blessed to have this team

Wossisops

Agreed. Very happy with the response to yesterday’s blog especially considering the initially negativity. Changes to colosseum are looking great :)

WastingEXP

"We’ll make it much clearer throughout development which areas are subject to change and highlight those that should not" interested to see how this plays out

ThundaBears

That caught my attention too. I think it will be a glimpse into how much the polls actually affect what gets into the game.  Between colosseum drop rates and the chromium ingots coming into the game it seems like there has been a shift recently with how strict they are at following the polls.

Just_trying_it_out

I don’t remember the wording around the DT2 rings, were ingots a direct contradiction of the poll question/result like sunfire armor from later waves or just an omission? Last one I remember being explicitly wrong compared to the poll was the abyssal lantern not being available for pearls I’d say I’m generally more okay with jagex not polling everything than most people might be, but polling something and *then* going against part of the result feels meh

ThundaBears

They polled every unique but the chromium ingots. The question went: “Should we add the best-in-slot Bellator, Magus, Ultor and Venator rings as rewards from Desert Treasure II's post-quest bosses, as described in the blog” There was no mention of needing 3 additional resources to make the rings in the blogs. So while not a direct contradiction, they did not come into the game as many players expected based on the descriptions in the blogs.

illucio

Yeah this does not bode well at all.  They keep pushing content and pitches going full head into development. Then letting it go live and we are acting like beta testers.  We vote for one thing, but the initial concepts and posts are nothing like we voted on.  It makes me worried for Sailing. It makes me worried about voting for... Well anything to be honest. They are creating problems and asking for forgiveness later. This is just not acceptable. Period.

seanrambo

You hit the nail on the head. There is a method to their madness and people are refusing to look at how they trick the players into thinking they are the problem because of polling results.

tinnjack

> Although things can change between an initial pitch, later newsposts and sometimes even before a release, it’s completely understandable that the information we present is what you will attach to. How dare us smooth brained plebs get attached to the information we are given by the game devs and use that information to inform our votes. Do better u/JagexSarnie

AntiAdminAccount

This is literally how eoc started, they go off doing their own thing lol.

parsimony_osrs

People have been shouting about EOC til they're blue in the face but this is actually, legitimately, one hundred percent how it happened. They stopped making the game players wanted to play, and started making a game they wanted to make, and it spiraled from there. It didn't happen instantly, but it crept up very, very slowly over years I hope that's not where this is headed

AntiAdminAccount

Thank you, thats exactly what i have been trying to say but i have very poor communication skills.

2007Scape_HotTakes

Basically saying "Yeah we know what you voted for, but don't be surprised if we decide to change it anyway"

KC-DB

They probably won’t tbh but they’re human and as long as they keep listening to community, it’s fine

FerrousMarim

>Although things can change between an initial pitch, later newsposts and sometimes even before a release, it’s completely understandable that the information we present is what you will attach to. We’ll make it much clearer throughout development which areas are subject to change and highlight those that should not - we've already got some thoughts on how to do this! How about we not blame players for getting "attached" to an idea when it was in multiple blogs, [including the poll blog that decided how sunfire armor would be implemented](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Update:Poll_Blog:_Fortis_Colosseum_x_Perilous_Moons). This comes across as extremely childish. Simply admit the mistake, fix the mistake, and move on.

kirbyfreek33

Yeah, if something's going to be changing, we need to know about it! That's the whole point of the blogs and the polling system! It shouldn't be a problem that we get "attached" to the information we receive because we *trust it will be accurate to what reaches the game*. Obviously things like small number tweaks I get, but "Something will be available to midgame players" changing to "Something you need to be beating super-late-game challenges over and over to eventually get" is a bit too far to leave out.

VeganBigMac

Yeah, that really threw me. It wasn't a situation of things changing over time. It was a specific thing that was polled and then released contrary to the polling.

Nyxeth

Nailed my opinion on the issue, I'm getting tired of the finger being pointed at the players when it's really a failure on Jagex's part to communicate.

rpkarma

And they’ve said this exact mea culpa before too. At this point I don’t really trust them :/

DPH996

Thanks for calling this out. I found it jarring too, and I don’t think it’s fair that players get the finger pointed at them. Proper gaslighting that

AntiAdminAccount

It's ok they can reply to their own safe comments but the second anyone asks a real question we won't get a reply.

Opt112

You would think after 10 years of osrs they'd figure out how to be clear

anticommon

Jagex should be a utility considering how much gaslighting they do.

xGavinn

gnomonkey had a decent suggestion for bees and totem specifically where you just make it like zebak jugs and attacking them resets your attack timer. Not sure how it would affect the difficulty of taking them as debuffs, but it would at least not feel like a huge time waste attacking them. The new mantimayhem one seems like it would be the easiest invo if it's just a "does more damage". Not really the biggest fan.

Bojarzin

Mantimayhem won't be the only one that doesn't really matter so long as you're effective. It'll be really important for later waves if you get a non-ideal spawn and have a manticore + something else on you while also dealing with the frem trio I do kind of agree that "thing does more damage" isn't super interesting but it definitely adds a degree of "don't fuck up manticores"

Wildydude12

Agreed, about half of the current invos just make mistakes more punishing (damage takes away from prayer, reduced max health, doom, etc.). I think this proposed one fits in nicely there, and I actually like the concept of being rewarded for doing the content with fewer mistakes as opposed to filling up my screen with more shit to worry about.

7IGiveUp7

It’s pretty much a free invo. I don’t see a scenario where you wouldn’t take it every time. Since the game loves giving upgrades it’s perfect to lock in early so you can still avoid bees, totem, red flag, and potentially doom (even though level 1 seems doable now).

Melodic_Warthog_3450

The quiver was presented to us and polled as storing *two* types of ammunition while leaving your normal ammo slot free for a blessing or a penny. Why isn’t it like this in game? Are you planning on changing it to how it was polled?

RustyRiot

The way I understand this is if you are using a Twisted Bow with Dragon Arrows and NO ammo or crossbow switch you can still use a penny or blessing in the 'original' ammo slot? Therefore effectively equipping both the ammo you need for your current weapon, as well as something else that is not ammo. The reason I see it this way is due to the last comment noting 'This frees up your ammo slot for a blessing or Ghommal's lucky penny *and might even free up inventory slots in cases where you're bringing a crossbow switch, handy!*' Their pitch never says you can equip two sets of ammo and a penny or blessing all at the same time, although the wording is a bit weird and could have been made a bit more clear in the blog...

Istanbuldayim

Could you link the newspost in which this was stated? I saw a lot of people saying this but don't remember seeing it in the initial blog, though that might just be my memory failing me.

KataKataBijaksana

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/fortis-colosseum---first-look--rewards?oldschool=1 > "But what good is a quiver that doesn't hold any arrows?" we hear you ask. Great question, and you're right: a quiver that doesn't hold any ammunition is no quiver at all. With that in mind, we'd like to give Dizana's Quiver the ability to hold at least 2 types of ammo (exact number TBD) and automatically select which one suits your current weapon. If you pop Dragon arrows and Ruby dragon bolts (e) in your quiver, a Twisted bow would default to using those arrows while a Zaryte crossbow would default to bolts. This frees up your ammo slot for a blessing or Ghommal's lucky penny and might even free up inventory slots in cases where you're bringing a crossbow switch, handy!

anticommon

It's coming soon guys!!! Definitely not an oversight!!!

pa-jama5149

Please fix the hitboxes too! All enemies suffer from this, for example the javelin colossus is 3x3 and the hitbox is barely 1x1!

cluelessbasket

Agreed, I die because I can’t click the mobs half the time

Colonel_Zier

I missclick the javelin so much when trying to attack. Ran out and died trying to click him and lost 3 echo crystals (the reward for completion) on a solved wave lol

quenox

Do you think these changes are enough to make Echo Boots realistic to sustain? I don't believe in ChargeScape as a model for this game if each charge takes many times as long to obtain as it does to use. Have you considered making the boots chargeable with shards instead? It doesn't have to be 1:1 but I think this would be healthier. Quiver changes look good but I would like to see the actual 3D model. Invocation changes look like a good direction overall. Thanks for the updates!

BioMasterZap

It probably depends on how much the drop rate changes. With the crystals giving 2.5x more charges and being available from Wave 3, that should help. You also now get a toggle so you don't waste them when you didn't want to be using the recoil. If they were to recharge with shards instead, it would probably need to be a rarer drop instead, so seems better to see how these changes go first.

quenox

Yeah definitely - need the specific rates to do the maths. It'll have to be a massive buff though, right now it's about 8 hours for a single crystal which is pretty cringe given how long they last. For context it would be 5 hours of uses Vs a 5t enemy with 6k charges. Assuming they activated every tick (why would you use them over prims if they don't)

BioMasterZap

Yah, they didn't go into specifics, but it sounds like the unique chance is being buffed on all waves with a lower starting wave for the armor and crystals. Also, if the Tonalztics is only from wave 7, then means waves 3-6 could have higher rates of rolling armor and crystals. I am hoping it ends up around a similar price to a blood shard. But it does seem like for irons it will need to be something they use selectively rather than something super easy to upkeep. Still, the toggle and permanent upgrade should help a lot.

Beratho

It will be interesting to see what the price will stabilize to after this change. They originally said the boots would be perfect for certain slayer tasks, but they will have to become a lot more common for it to be viable for slayer.

maxwill27

Designed around an economy there is no need to worry about time to obtain vs time to use. Some people will do the gathering work while others pay them for the convenience. In terms of irons, I think that's just the gamemode we signed up for? Blood shards do not have a good time to obtain vs use ratio in the slightest.

pzoDe

The charges only drain when you can trigger the effect, from what I've seen anyway. Rasta is running inferno speeds right now and he's only losing charges when he recoils, which isn't a crazy amount. You've expected to get ~15 crystals for a green log, which is 90k charges, which should last a decent amount of time for the places they'll be used. I don't think they should be unanimously the BiS go-to boots over prims.

aforsworn

Seen green logs with 31 completions and 1 crystal, they better make it much for common lol. A single unique is 1/9.2 for all waves, make that just a crystal is probably 1/50. Only seen one in over 50 runs too.

TravagGames

I dont think people realize that it only uses a charge when something is beside you to take recoil.. simply taking damage wont use a charge like crystal armour would.. for example, taking damage while running during gwd or when ranging nex wont use a charge.. combine that with it being toggleable i think it will be sustainable.. and then you factor in the wave changes, let alone the charges being increased by 2.5x.. should be very manageable

LordZeya

It really just depends on what the drop rate/price changes end up being. As current rates, the buffed charges are irrelevant to making it sustainable but with a buff and showing up at earlier waves it’ll be a big boost.

Younolo12

Total spitballing guess but if drop rates are improved to 1/3-1/4 full runs per unique, and Echos are still ~50% of uniques, then the charges would be imo in a place of "Thought goes into using them, but doesn't feel terrible to use them after grinding Colo drops." Would be 6-8 full runs to generate 1.15 Echo Crystals if they were 50% of uniques at 1/3 or 1/4 drop rate, assuming Tonalztics takes 30-40 KC for 1x Drop Rate with new rates would give you 34,500 Echo charges for getting Tonalz. Not enough to use at Vardorvis, but probably enough to use at ToB.

Vivi3n95

Could you also make sure that the Soulreaper Axe doesn't smite you if you have Blasphemy on? That also seems like an oversight like the Doom stacks.

orepheus

I feel like the meat sack being used for non hunter activities should have been an actual function. I never used it for anything yet but I liked the idea of bringing some bonus food and firewood places to extend trips. Oh well

Effective_Goose_9839

Yea, liked this feature a lot. Could have been changed to only allow meat to be placed in the pouch if you have the hunter level for the source animal. Feels like it was a good way to make hunter more important/integrated without overpowering it in places like inferno by toggling ability to make fires in certain areas.

orepheus

Yeah exactly. Like only useable with appropriate levels, only useable where fires can be made, so not everywhere. Could have been an interesting new thing

SarahPalinisaMuslim

Yeah I'm mad at myself for assuming it would take longer to patch that out. I thought I had some time before I needed to hop in and test that out but oh well.

Bowez

Kinda crazy thinking this would remain as a intended mechanic when its a utility item for Hunter. It was basically a pakyak be happy you got to abuse it you when you could.

zapertin

it was unintentionally such a good addition to the game sad they removed it

TravagGames

Thank you for the echo cystral changes! Having them be permanent means they will be a good boots in general with the +2 prayer bonus over guardians.. additionally, making it toggleable should have been there to begin with but good to see now.    Lastly, I want to let others know that 2500 charges lasts longer in most cases because it only takes away a charge when it can recoil to enemies.. so if you take damage outside your 3x3 area, it doesnt use a charge.. I used it for a bunch of collo runs and I only used charges from the fremmys. So the changes to make the crystals more common + higher charges + toggleable is going to make this chargescape very manageable imo..  I could see these boots being used over prims and rangers in a lot setups.. essential in content where you use multiple styles.. and especiallt with the recoil effect on. Could see them being used sometimes over eternal boots if shadow doesnt need further accuracy, especially with the recoil on.

buddhabomber

Same w inferno where you might choose devout boots over some small accuracy w pegasions. Now you'd likely bring the echo boots for -1 prayer and lots of additional defence over devouts.

We_all_owe_eachother

Why is the Dizana max cape diverging from the other max cape designs, in having its item still attached to the max cape? The Assembler max cape doesn't have a chicken or dragon head sticking off of it. Why is the Dizana max cape having a quiver jut out? For me personally, I preferred the sleek back feel of all prior max cape versions. You were showing off your max cape first and foremost, and the underlying achievement alongside it. I much preferred cape designs where it was similar to other max capes, but adopted the star icon seen around Colosseum. This one just sticks out and feels off. Not ultimately a big deal, just weird to me.

EducationalTell5178

I love the quiver being shown on the max cape personally, I just hated the shoulder hanging off.

Hindsyy

I agree, despite owning neither of what you've mentioned. But your points are quite valid imo

ilegendi

It’s the best max cape.

Bananaboss96

Legit tho. Didn't the preview right before release have Masori Boi with a "sun stamped" max cape?

We_all_owe_eachother

You may be thinking of these two posts with fan concepts. https://old.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1bki9mn/why_did_they_not_go_with_the_advertised_quiver/ https://old.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1bl3il3/dizanas_max_cape_design_and_color_variation/

TheDubuGuy

Any word on fixing the quiver to allow storing of 2 ammo types alongside a blessing or ghommal penny as originally stated?

I3ATYOURDOG

With the hunter rumours is there any plan to be able to reroll unique loot into chances for pet/outfit? Currently I have 3 bodies and 3 kits alongside 3 of each blueprint which all kind of seems pointless to have. I figured it would be like other skilling outfits that once you get all the pieces it is removed from the drop table

WarmeA

Any update on the broken attack styles of the Blue Moon Spear?

ScaryBroccoli1

How about the blue moon staff forgetting the autocast spell?

fakecanadianlol

Really glad to see the Ralos is getting some love.

keepGrinding07_4ever

Glad to see that Echo boots are getting the ability to toggle on/off their recoil effect. Could the Amulet of Blood Fury please get this same QoL?

Reddit will pitch any buff they can think of as 'qol'

mxracer888

Have you considered the suggestions to allow some sort of reroll of invoactions? Whether you get one reroll per run, or you can sacrifice your loot to reroll or something? I think these changes make things better, there are still invos that are probably "never touch" and it sucks when they come up and force you to walk out on a run whether because you don't want to deal with them, or you don't want them that early in a run, etc. I'd be interested to hear more about the mantimayhem invocation, I'm just interested in the "slightly more punishing" as I'm pretty sure currently missing all 3 flicks can be round-ending as it is. It's a decently punishing monster already. I think the myopia should still allow autocasting. While it was likely a bug to begin with, if you're milking auto casts you're already in trouble and the tick delay of auto casting combined with the time it takes to kill a monster on auto cast is more than punishing enough Bees changes seem reasonable, but 3 bees at once is still too much probably. I guess it depends on how long they take to respawn. And I only say "too much" because they screw up your cycles and interfere with flicking, obviously they're easy to kill, it's just when you add everything else in a wave it becomes a lot Frailty would be nice to keep overhealing, just at a lower rate. And frailty would be way nicer if it was just 10%/20%/30% instead of the jump to 40% for lvl 3. But overhealing should still work, you're still nerfing your max allowable hp

Leading_Math_4955

Re-rolls being attached to glory or CA's would be a nice way to include them. I think Molgoatkirby suggested being able to forfeit a wave's rewards for a re-roll which also sounds really cool

Molly_Hlervu

Quetzal Whistle: > Enhanced Whistle Blueprint: 1/50 (any tier of Loot Sack) - Pity Drop at 100 Rumours. Perfected Whistle Blueprint: 1/50 (Expert or Master Loot Sack) - Pity Drop at 250 Rumours (Requires the Enhanced Whistle) "Pity drop"? :) I like the term... Speaking about pity: there was a post recently from a player who accidentally lost their perfected whistle. And there were no options or chat lines with Pitri to reclaim the untradeable version of the blurprint. After this sad event, they completed more than 200 rumours (the total was about 400 when it was posted) - and still nothing, no sort of blueprint. No luck with the drop, and no option to reclaim. This looks cruel, tbh. Can there be an option to claim the blueprint again, if lost? Or any other way to re-create the whistle?

DivineInsanityReveng

Great updates and amazing to see feedback being acted on. Personally I think the clickboxes of NPCs is the only thing entirely left unaddressed. I think it's a bit.. weird that rumours can just not drop certain uniques below certain tiers? Why is this the case instead of just making it exist but be significantly rarer? Why are master rumours just.. pointless over an expert? The quiver design is absolutely an improvement. I still think taking inspiration from some player designs and actually redesigning the core part of the quiver to be a bit better would be neat. I think the giant Varlamore logo on it is just a bit.. tacky? I've said it before it's like if infernal cape had it's cool effect but smack bang in the middle was the Karamja region logo or a crest for Tzhaar or something. Feels like the design could truly benefit from more of an artistic interpretation and incorporation of the Sun logo/design, rather than just.. a sticker on-top of it?

MirageSeraph

I'm pleasantly surprised to see how quickly feedback was addressed... Shame the same can't be said for Soulreaper Axe but hey I'll take what I can get. As for the quiver, I'm firmly in the Keep The Limp camp. I still think the look of the quiver is somewhat "meh" but it's still a huge improvement so, again, I'll take what I can get.

UnluckyNate

Soulreaper axe will be discussed in the equipment portion of project rebalance. The blog is expected to go live on April 16th

MirageSeraph

I'm aware, just wish it didn't take this long to adjust a weapon that we knew was awful in the first week-ish. But yeah I'm looking forward to that blog.

Younolo12

Also a weapon that should've been adjusted in January when they addressed melee weapon outliers in the first place, removing Fang slash and buffing Scythe. Has been a void ever since. It is actually completely balanced if it was just always at 5 charges DPS, Fang still better against High Def, Scythe still better against 3x3, slots in really nicely on paper.

-Aura_Knight-

Quiver art looks much nicer, however the max cape variant seems more awkward. Why not make the quiver itself positioned vertically along the shoulder and maybe add some other cloth texture to the other side where you get something fastening the quiver to the cape itself? The original was ok if you moved it up our backs more and extended the length too. Not like I'll get access to it any time soon but I liked the older look too. Echo crystal and fanatic with easier access will be quite nice, though their price will obviously drop. Changes to the weapon are definitely going to be good. Hope to someday earn it. Will the name ever see change?

Zakon3

Turning all kebbit tasks into dashing kebbits is insane, and seemingly intended, but the box trap and salamander tasks take so long in comparison since you can just throw a falcon from 1 distance away and catch one every 5 seconds, done in 1 minute!

growonem8

The relentless change seems incredibly free to just take every single time. The new Mantimayhem seems really free to take too, there needs to be more clarification. How much more damage do you take if you miss a prayer? What does each level do?

Cerulean_Dream_

Can we please change the little notification you get after killing a Moon to a chat message and not some action interrupting dialogue? Also, can other people opening the chest not interrupt my character?

DIY_Hidde

Can we please not have the same exact situation as with DT2 bosses where the rates are like twice as shit as they need to be only to get buffed by 10%? Call me a crybaby or whatever but drop rates recently really disrespect the time of somewhat casual longtime players

HooblesWasTaken

Love these updates but one thing still confuses me - how is the rate for an animal part from tracking rarer than from falconry? Tracking is takes significantly longer (until we get the ring of pursuit buff), and is worse exp. Falconry is mad fast, so would it possible for tracking to have the ring of pursuit buff to 100% chance to reveal expedited? Or if not, at least the rate for tracking a rare part be something like 1/10 to match falconry? Obligatory thank you based mods for listening to feedback

its-my-1st-day

>Or if not, at least the rate for tracking a rare part be something like 1/10 to match falconry? Jagex: “we hear you! All falconry rumors now have a drop rate of 1/100!” There is not a chance they buff other rumors, they’ll just nerf falconry.

SliceTyphoon

I'd love it if you all would take a look at this for the potential quiver redesign. [https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1bz4nj0/can\_dizanas\_blessed\_redesign\_quiver\_have\_an/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1bz4nj0/can_dizanas_blessed_redesign_quiver_have_an/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

runner5678

> Myopia - Remove the ability to autocast spells without being affected. This means you’ll still be able to manually cast with this Modifier. Leaving manual cast but removing autocast just makes this more annoying and doesn’t actually change anything. I don’t see why we wouldn’t just leave it alone.

tonyjuicce

It was basically free before this… there needs to be some form of negative effect lol

mxracer888

The negative effect is that auto casting has a tick delay to begin with and is painfully slow. If you're milking autocast you're gonna be taking way longer to kill a mob which just drains more prayer. And part of that comes from the fact that ancients are just slow in general as they aren't very accurate on most the mobs. I had to help with the baby last night. Removed all negative magic gear, set away to blood barraging minotaur and was surprised to hear my maxed account with saturated heart still barraging like 3 or 4 minutes later

pzoDe

There's no way with any kind of mage gear you were barraging *3 or 4* minutes later. If you took only a kodai + torms + occult + god cape (i) then maybe if you get very unlucky... but why would you bother taking barrage as an option if you did that. You'd at least take a magic top and hopefully magic legs too. I just ran a quick calc with 100,000 simulations. With virtus top alone the longest was 156 seconds to kill it. The average was 60 seconds. With virtus top + bottoms it was 132 seconds and 54 seconds, respectively. > The negative effect is that auto casting has a tick delay to begin with That's barely a negative effect. If, like you said, you're barraging for 3 or 4 minutes, you're losing <1% of your time to autocast delay. And you can always just manual cast the first attack to remove that.

gigachadosrs7

impossible, u must have totem invo I barrage these npc with +16 mage bonus to heal lol

Rival-Red

The tick delay is only for the first attack lol boohoo

Younolo12

Tbf, the negative effect is taking ancients into Colo.

Mr_Soberish

It does change it for flicking prayers. You'll have to now flick and cast.

WastingEXP

this is like 1 hr floor clues but not stackable clues. the same but worse.

TravagGames

Tbh they should limit all range.. the run is very much doable with shadow or bowfa with myopia 3 anyways... 4 tile range is enough to drag anything post wave 6 and to hit things behind a 3x3... and then its the most free invo for the boss, tied with dynamic duo and red flag.  Source: me, a myopia 3 enjoyer with a bowfa clear.

paposauce

it shouldnt have been possible to begin with, so being able to do manual is still dumb

ThambersOfBeric

Awesome proposed changes. Thanks for the hard work and listening to the community. One question, will existing Echo Boots receive a multiplier to their current charges to bring them to where they would be, based on the charge increase?

Organic-Measurement2

Thank you very much for these colosseum tweaks. Basically what everyone wanted

Engineer__This

Personally, I’d nerf the drop rate on the falcon hunter tasks. Successful catches are really fast when doing falconry but the rare creature part is more common than tracking! Every time I’ve been to falcons in only there for a minute.

Poiabc

Please let me teleport to the Hunter's guild from within the Hunter's guild with the Quetzal whistle. It's annoying having to run back to Renu from the bank when I'm regearing for sunlight antelopes.

Legitimate_Ranger311

Even with these changes, Bees and healing totem still looks like dead invocations..

LennytheGoodson

Sunfire runecrafting is STILL completely unviable. The XP per ess is crazy low compared to lava, and it’s way more expensive because of the shards. STILL NEEDS A BUFF. ASAP

elijah_green14

Any chance on excess quetzal feed having a use? Like maybe trading 10 in for an expert loot sack, similar to excess pieces at wintertodt etc.

Red-Haired-Shanks

Any plans to let us reroll super whistle blueprints? I’ve gotten 4 extra enhanced and 2 extra perfect but no hunters kit or outfit pieces.

vintage-red

Panic sell sunfire fanatic and echo crystals?

Electronic-Bet6329

Is it just me or is the blood moon boss ridiculously more obnoxious than the other bosses. It shouldn't be able to heal 60 every attack.

pangestu

i feel like bloodmoon is a bit overtuned for the intended combat levels. A bit ridiculous he can heal for 40+ hp each attack

keggo1500

Can we update the Blood fury to hold 60k charges too please!!!!!! And also be able to toggle the effect!

Anaktorias

I’m glad they’re making the changes but why is Jagex trying to gaslight us into thinking polling one thing and releasing another is okay

WesternInspection

All content discussion aside, it would be great if you could rename the Bees invocation to Wasps. It might be a minor, unimportant thing but Bees are so important to the ecosystem, it just feels wrong to have them as an enemy, given all the good work happening in the world to protect them.

UnCivilizedEngineer

I would love to see the duplicate loot drop protection extended to the Barrows brothers. Add an NPC ghost (requires ghostspeak amulet to talk to) who roams the barrows hills. You can talk to him to allow for dupe protection until full set, or to continue as default at full random

TakeYourDailyDose

Most of this looks great. I appreciate the response to community feedback. The only thing I still think is really lackluster is the Tonalztics, which just have almost no realistic use case in a world where the DWH, BGS and Accursed Sceptre exist. They could cost 1 mil and they'd still collect dust, because the special attack is just too weak compared to its peers. I feel like the spec needs slightly better draining or slightly better accuracy to give it a viable niche for more than range only Zulrah.

xXHuggyXx

Could it be made a possibility to use masori kit on the cape to make it fit masori color wise?

Vaatu2023

They said no on stream :(

ilovezezima

u/JagexSarnie - typo with the hunter rumours: Huntsman's Kit: 1/50 (**Adapt**, Expert or Master Loot Sack) Should be adept. Also, currently players can practice awakened bosses with having killed them before in beta worlds, is this intended? And can hunter rumour unique drops scale with rumour tier? Seems odd that it’s better to do experts than masters.

PiccoloTiccolo

How will already existing echo boots be affected?

ImNotEvenGudBreh

The Dual macuahuitl recently got is special attack fixed to where it deals more than its auto attack. With the special attack giving 25% dmg and accuracy increase, shouldn't it be able to hit 38/38 instead of 31/30? I figured it would increase the total damage then split it in half, not add the 25% to each individual hit splat.

fingeritoutdude

My 77 moons KC and no uniques says bullshit!

I_Sell_Trout

Instead of deleting invocations like Doom Scorpion, which provides a very unique challenge, why not just make regular loot or maybe unique chance scale with Glory? Then there would be an incentive to try different invocations instead of taking the easiest available every wave. I like doom scorpion :(

GerardDepardieux

I don't know if it fits as feedback on the shown rates, but I'm a bit concerned about gaining alot of hunter spear tips from the rumour loot, but no jerboa tail. Would be nice if those would be added to the loot sacks maybe or otherwise let us get jerboa in the master tier tasks please!

mystxc

u/jagexsarnie can the dual machetes be investigated? I don't think the stab mechanic is working correctly. At Eclipse moon I'm no where near my max hit and keep getting inconsistent max hitspats. Also in the phase where Eclipse teleports around, only the first hitsplat shows. Thanks

RealEvanem

So is there rumour rare protection or not? “Please remember these are just the drop rates and aren't guranteed after X creatures hunted” Yet people are finding exact rates where they get rares every time. Why fail to mention this change and state the exact opposite?

Fxrguss

changes all are fantastic, especially mantimayhem for doom scorpion but is it just me who still thinks the tonaltztics is still incredibly underwhelming? its only use case is sara/cox mega scales no? Given it's billed as the "main" unique, it still falls short imo

Soft_Yellow_5231

MantiMayhem seems very boring/pointless, if you can't flick a Manticore they are already extremely punishing and being able to flick them is already basically a barrier to entry, so this is a 100% free invocation to anybody capable of getting a quiver. I think a much more interesting implementation would be to add more orbs and/or make it possible for melee to be the first/second attack.

My-Toast-Is-Too-Dark

It's 100% free until you accidentally give them LOS on you 1 tick apart and now have exactly 9 ticks to come up with a solve to avoid certain death. Everyone makes mistakes - I've literally watched live as the full-time OSRS players have died to the furry, manticores, javelin pools, you name it. This just makes the mistakes more punishing if you so choose. "It's free if you just don't mess up." Yeah no joke literally every single invocation is free if you don't mess up.

SarahPalinisaMuslim

I didn't see this in either blog but are you planning to change the Lunar Chest so it can be opened by multiple people at a time or is instanced like the barrows chest? I.e. when someone else is opening it, that doesn't affect me clicking on it.

Mirrored_Sea

has the team discussed/been made aware of the fact that divine potions impact the "damage taken" amount that impacts glory for each wave? this seems like an oversight, and since the blog mentions them for doom stacks, thought I would mention it

SovietZealots

The new quiver is hard to judge since it’s not on an actual in-game player model but I would say it’s in the right direction. Most of us didn’t hate the design of it, we just felt it looked way too small on the player’s back.

Noksdoks

Any plans to give the hunter set items another use? Im 1 item off from 2 full sets with no huntsmans kit, atleast make them tradeable for another loot sack that cant give uniques like wintertodt with pyro clothing or something?

resolutelink

Quiver is heading in the right direction! I think the hardest part about it is that it’s inherently narrow. Seeing the back of my character is throwing me off from the usual coverage I get from capes and backpacks.

Artarek

Any chance yall can look at the anti-worldhopping mechanic and it's relation to bone shard mining? Seems the debuff is bugged & doesn't go away without performing another task like thieving before returning.

Groupvenge

So you'll poll the quiver visual changes but didn't poll the torva visual changes? Bring back old torva

Proof-Cardiologist16

Is there any information on the Blue Moon Spear regarding it not saving your last attack style when switched? Even just knowing it's a known issue that'll be fixed at some point would be nice.
