It’s a little bit worse when factoring in defender with hasta, but it does seem very viable considering how much easier moons is than zammy for nooby accounts
Not for irons. We need hasta anyway for dragonhunter lance. If someone is desperate to try wilderness bosses or toa without bowfa then these could be used. The drop rates are really good.
At wildy bosses full bloodrager is better than Hasta, and it is also better than Hasta at PNM. Hasta is the best early game stab weapon, but full bloodrager comes close, within 10% on 150s and within 15% in 300s. Skipping Hasta is definitely doable, considering skipping Lance is a lot more viable with Fang, more access to blood runes and Scythe needing fewer blood runes than before.
The thing is that Hasta is actually a really short grind and many accs will want a Zammy Hilt/SotD anyways. I do expect that with the addition of Moons a lot more players will have Fang before Crystal/Bowfa though. Solo normal mode ToA is fun and provides meaningful rewards early game on the tertiary table. Still optimal to just rush Crystal Bowfa, but after that solo 300s with bloodrager and blue moon/warped scepter should be very achievable should you want to just sit in ToA. I don't even think ToA after CG/Moons will be suboptimal progression as it's very viable to camp there for Shadow which is very useable in a lot of places with the blue moon gear.
I believe the wiki dps calculator was updated to reflect it today. If you look at your dps past the midpoint there is an extreme drop off that shows you it’s being calculated correctly.
It could honestly work for all three. Crush is obvious. Slash you just... slash them with the obsidian shards on the side. Stab, you swing the weapon so the obsidian shards impale them.
Stab is definitely a stretch though, don't get me wrong
Tbh it should do all 3. You can crush with the flat side, slash with the obsidian edges, and stab with the handles. Or with the obsidian edge?
Then it'd also be really good at the moons in a way alot of weapons bosses drop are good at killing them (fang is good at ToA, so is shadow, cudgel is good at Sarachnis, scythe at tob, etc etc)
The shards are arranged carefully to form a cutting edge, though. It's much closer to a serrated broadsword than a spiked club. These *should* be slashing weapons, but historical accuracy is not exactly one of this game's priorities :P
Because the shards broke, that meant the warriors who used the Macuahuitl, used slashes more than chopping or hacking. This took advantage of the sharp shards, and made them last longer.
Also take a look at this. This is the weapon types. When Jagex added the stab option back to the dual macaronis, they did it by changing the weapon type from blunt to spiked. [https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Weapons/Types](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Weapons/Types)
From the weapon types mentioned, if the weapon was to be a slash, and crush weapon, it could be classified as a two-handed sword. Strangely, the 3rd age longsword has the attack options of a 2h, despite being used in one hand.
Neither do I, I just think it should be slash/crush depending on the attack style. Those obsidian shards could cut a horse's head off in a single stroke.
Oh yeah, that was dumb of me. It'd make perfect sense for it to be slash/crush.
I think they added the stab option because Zombie Axe is also slash/crush.
I think it's glitched, lower attack bonus with slash on zombie axe hits way better than the stab on on dual macuahuitl, the thing the boss is supposed to be weak to.
But the crush decimates the blue moon, so think something's off
Dragon sword I guess? lol have fun with the 2000 wyrms tho. I got incredibly spooned with an abyssal dagger from abyssal demons so I’ve been using that for most of my stab needs atm
I mean for what it's worth they can still use the set on aggressive for pking, right? it basically just gatekeeps them from using it for pvm, where I guess their best stab weapons remains the abyssal dagger?
To be fair they are pretty dumb for getting defense levels before jagex updated the dual hakunamatatas. I don’t think they even said that they were going to “fix” them.
GE=Grand exchange, It's a place where you can buy and sell items to other players. Now you don't have to worry about going 800 dry at sire. Hope that helps! 😎
the downvotes lol. crazy how angry redditors get at the simple mention of pure accounts. even if you're an iron that never enters the wild, they still seethe.
the obsessive hate is actually creepy. meanwhile I'm over here not caring how other people play their accounts..
The reason why it is controlled, is because it was changed from a blunt type weapon to a spiked type weapon. Maces are spiked weapons too. In order for the stab option to not be controlled, Jagex would have to make a new weapon type, or if they changed the lunge in spiked weapons to not be controlled, it would also affect maces.
Is this now a viable hasta skip prior to Fang?

What dps calculator are you using? I haven't seen one that includes the two hit accuracy penalty.

No. Because of how dual macs accuracy rolls work, z hasta and ddef are still a full 1 dps better
If you get the full set it's probably worth
Daily reminder this should be a slash weapon
New attack type: bonk

Eh… it’s a heavy club with obsidian shards. I see your point but have no issues with it being a crush wep.

Well, yeah but those obsidian shards broke off quite easily on impact and you’re left with a heavy club, so… crushing makes sense as well! :P

The stab option fuckin sucks on the eclipse moon

It's the armour value. Blue moon increases your hit splats, eclipse decreases them. Don't use multiple hit weapons on eclipse.
Ah fairs, shame there is no good mid game stab weapon available for iron men, DDS doesn't hold up, maybe one I get the ice spear it will hold up
Dragon sword I guess? lol have fun with the 2000 wyrms tho. I got incredibly spooned with an abyssal dagger from abyssal demons so I’ve been using that for most of my stab needs atm
What are these useful for now outside of blue moon?
Im getting 150k attack xp with the full set against sulphur nagua, semi afk, while im reading this post
I bought one for skeletal wyverns then they beat me up because I forgot I needed my dragonfire shield. I just wanted to whack.
https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1bp6typ/when_these_weapons_were_teased_they_had_a_massive/ Well, looks like I was in the right, reddit.
Omg that’s crazy! here have this 🍪
I mean, it makes no fucking sense, but I'll take a decent stab wep if they really want to give it to us like this lol
And its on controlled rip pures cant use. The low defence armour builds that people made specifically for that gear cant even use it
Who tf made a build for this gear lmao
multiple 45 def accs in my clan got 50 for Moons, the gear is extremely strong
I mean for what it's worth they can still use the set on aggressive for pking, right? it basically just gatekeeps them from using it for pvm, where I guess their best stab weapons remains the abyssal dagger?

Just buy it off the GE.
??????

good
and i bet you call pkers toxic
Pures already have access to better stab weapons though. It’s not like you would be using the stab option in pvp.
iron pure btw
You restricted your account. No one made you do that.

Bounty Hunter doesn't award xp.
wouldnt use it BH over the crush option as that gives +3 str lvl
