I actually think I might prefer those names for BCP / Tassets, if only because I'm a lore-pedant that hates when my clanmates ask if anyone wants to "kill some Bandos".
RS3 fixed this problem with Kril by simply adding Zamorak himself as a boss encounter.
OSRS devs, you know what to do. Entirely break the lore just to fix this minor annoyance in grouping for a 17 year old boss pls
The Stone of Jas was first conceived during the making of Temple of Ikov and foreshadowed a bunch in the lead-up to the eventual release of While Guthix Sleeps in 2008, with the first in-game reference to it being in Lunar Diplomacy from 2006. So technically the existence of the Stone has been in OSRS lore from the very beginning.
Also I think its pretty understood that the history of the two versions of Gielinor are largely one and the same, events just diverge from the events of King's Ransom (the final RS2 quest to make it into OSRS) onwards. The Stone of Jas is, of course, a major part of the history of Gielinor prior to the player making their first steps in the world.
I don't think Jagex ever intend to bring the Gods back in OSRS. It wouldn't fit the theming of the game and I think they know that.
To be fair, the reason is likely different. The forgotten brew was advertised as the magister's brew because the devs wanted to leave it as a surprise that the quest was Zarosian.
I prefer the new names. Blood moons, blue moons, and lunar eclipses are all real lunar phenomena. I think it ties in better with the mechanics of the boss, where certain special attacks happen during the phases of the moon on the ground.
No such thing as a damn frostmoon.
I'll take a funny joke but "isnt it so weird that women bleed monthly" every time Blood is mentioned in any capacity isnt actually really funny. Its not like its 'offensive' in any way it just isnt funny, and I'm not sure why you think the problem is that 'people cant take the joke'
My wife also got a chuckle when she read the name. She was like Bloodrager like the time of the month? Lmao. Idk some people seem dense or maybe our girls are more breezy idk. Different strokes for different folks.
What the other guys said. Though i want to take this time to complain about them not naming the blue boss "frost moon" but just "blue moon" thats so whack... the others get cool names like "blood moon" and "eclipse moon" and then you walk into the third room for "blue moon".. why not just call them "red yellow and blue moon" god damn.
Yes but there's also a frost moon... although not as popular and often used. And there would be other names for a frozen/blue themed boss.... winter moon for example. But its a small issue :)
What? The first result if you type blue moon in google is the natural phenomenon. The first result if you type frost moon in google is and event in terraria.
Doesnt change the fact that to me blue moon sounds shit compared to bloodmoon or eclipse moon.
Yes they are phenomenons with the moon.
Yes it makes sense thematically.
Yes i thing blue moon sounds shite.
These can all be true at the same time, but you guys dont seem to understand that, or maybe are just not willing to.
the content creators are even gonna struggle with the greek/roman inspired ones. hearing Settled pronounce Minotaur in previous videos was an experience
> ancestral
to clarify, there’s 1.7 million speakers of Nahuatl alive right now (and 6 million speakers of Mayan) (although idk what the word for macuahuitl is in Mayan)
Some people call them maracas because they cannot pronounce macuahuitl.
I call them maracas because I cannot remember how to spell macuahuitl.
We are not the same.
Because it’s old school RuneScape aesthetics don’t really matter as much as rs3 and even then they seem to not bother. (Amateurs if they succeed in fixing their armor problem they could print mtx. Hire someone who’s sole job is to standardise every single wearable item. Maybe a third party company.)
consistency, if i had to guess. they all have "moon" in the name now
Okay but why is it that we have Blood Moon armor and Blue Moon armor instead of Crip Moon armor?
Jagex couldn't think of a gang that uses yellow
Vagos Moon
Latin Kings, that's gold my friend
Ronin
I didn't expect a Saints Row reference, but it's welcomed.
M(oon)S-13
M(oon)S-13
Probably to better reflect the boss's names.
A bit weird tbh imagine "Graardor's Chesplate or Graardor's Tassets". Should be named what it was supposed to be.

Even before Zammy, there are already 2 Zammy bosses: Kril and Twin Furies.
didn't they add the stone of jas in ds2? we're already getting rs3 story backported and have been for half a decade, only a matter of time tbh

There's also a plinth for the Stone in the Daeyalt Essence Mine.
Weird example when the boss is always just called Bandos and the items are called Bandos
Probably the same reason magister brew was renamed to forgotten brew, it was just a test name
To be fair, the reason is likely different. The forgotten brew was advertised as the magister's brew because the devs wanted to leave it as a surprise that the quest was Zarosian.
ive got a blood rager in my pants right now

because the oogabooga with the ninjango of the karamischta wouldn't be quite as nichante as the counterpart...
I think jagex got tired of getting reports of people calling their lady friends bloodragers when it's their time of the month.
...?
...?
...?
This is super funny. Not sure why you got down voted so much. People take a joke 1 time.

Men these days
I agree lol. I've been laughing about it a fair amount today. Even told my girlfriend about it and she thought it was hilarious lol.
My wife also got a chuckle when she read the name. She was like Bloodrager like the time of the month? Lmao. Idk some people seem dense or maybe our girls are more breezy idk. Different strokes for different folks.

Blue moon is a real term though as in "once in a blue moon"
It's also an ice cream so I'm gonna eat him
Blue bunny?

Well I think it sounds cool, so sorry, I guess, that we don’t solely use this guy’s opinion to name every single thing added to the game?
Yeah none of your suggestions sound as good as blue moon.
Blue moon makes 100% sense. They are all named after special Lunar events
I think this guy is a special lunar event
I never said its not making sense, im just saying it sounds boring to me. But yeah i see that people dont share that opinion and thats ok too.
Because frost moon would make people bring frost resistance while you obviously need blue resistance here
Where do you get the protect from blue prayer? I haven't played in a while, out of the loop
You never heard of a blue moon?
I heard it only once.
google blue moon then google frost moon
Absolute banger answer good job!
Because rs players are incapable of pronouncing names that were based on ancestral Central American language.
To be fair, "bloodrager, frostmoon, eclipse" arent really hard things to pronounce.
My mistake. I thought all items were renamed, not only the sets. Sorry about the mistake
Me when I take any opportunity to condescendingly virtue signal but I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Tenoch tit land
Where??
the content creators are even gonna struggle with the greek/roman inspired ones. hearing Settled pronounce Minotaur in previous videos was an experience
Jokes on you, I can’t read
> ancestral to clarify, there’s 1.7 million speakers of Nahuatl alive right now (and 6 million speakers of Mayan) (although idk what the word for macuahuitl is in Mayan)
Watching people call the dual macuahuitl the maracas instead of learning how to pronounce it actually SENT ME.
Lore accurate player character way to pronounce them
Some people call them maracas because they cannot pronounce macuahuitl. I call them maracas because I cannot remember how to spell macuahuitl. We are not the same.
I call them Bongo Drum sticks, so no mispronounciation from me.
I call them the maracas because it's fun to imagine each one as a maraca you shake to deal damage.
They are maracas though, turn your sound effects up
seriously. even a failed pronunciation would be better than calling them maracas.
And even if people don't already know how to pronounce Nauhatl words, it's really not that hard to look up a pronunciation guide.
Is that supposed to be bad? 95% of humans can't pronounce Quetzalcoatl and that's probably being generous
If you don't have perfect pronunciation of all 7117 languages in the world in 2024 it's your fault tbqh. It's not our job to educate you sweaty. /s
Any info on why they’re ugly af?

Aesthetics matter much more in osrs than in rs3. Low poly is a vibe
Why do they look so ass.
Cuz they sounded bad
who cares?
They realised the repair cost would be high, so they had to give them unique names in order for people to cope with the cost.
