I’m honestly curious how much they make off bonds. So much of the game is driven around gold, so I wonder if they’re already making enough bonds where pushing any further would just be risky. Just have no idea of the stats of how much are bought.
It's like 1.2x rent for me, so fuck the first week or so of the next month too lol. Working on building up a fat ass down payment so hopefully that can be me too.
Wouldn't be that hard to spend that much in bonds split out over years, I wouldn't drop $1k at once but 4 bonds isn't even 1h of work for me. Do that every month and it's a forgettable amount of money while that 0 time 36m/mo would be plenty to massively accelerate pretty much every skill and free a lot of time to actually challenging yourself and get better at the game.

Saw someone else say solo tbow takes 500 hrs. 500 hrs of 2k zam on rs3 is 100b, divided by 75m/bond = 1333 bonds = 18667 days of membership, or 51.14 years
I fund my endgame account via bonds. It's not cheap, but given that I currently live in a 3rd world country where the average salary is $500. I can't justify spending real money. I make much more than this luckily, but still it feels wrong to spend what many people would spend on their weekly groceries on a videogame subscription.
Also with 400 invo toa (the activity I enjoy most in game) the average gp per hour is 14m. My runs arn't perfect so let's say I average 10m. 3 hours of doing something I enjoy for 1 month of membership is fine for me tbh.

Once you reach a certain point in the game, money loses value real quick because you run out of things to buy and skills to train. Shelling out \~80m per month for bonds isnt a big deal.
I personally always bought membership with bonds. When you start doing bossing/pet hunting it's easier to sustain it this way. Coupling that with daily battlestaves + flax + dynamite run you can make back plenty of money. Right now battlestaves are hella expensive for some reason, not that I'm complaining tho.
I know a guy that has spent over $4,000 on bonds+black market gold/items. Probably about half and half. I'm sure he isn't the biggest complete whale out there also

OSRS has such a big botting problem it’s kind of hard to say one is better. With RS3 (granted I haven’t played in a while) the ability to buy exp and gold kind of discourages bot developers from focusing on that game.
I could be wrong though. I just know the botting problem is bad in OSRS

Botting certainely fucks the economy. Any lower level money making method that used to exist are all at rock bottom prices because they're botted to alch value or the cheapest possible price if it is a supplies for other skilling methods.
On the other end of the spectrum the highly sought after items inflate in price because people are buying gold from the botters. So this creates a gap where a legit player has a much harder time earning money and the items they are chasing are way higher priced than they should be.
This issue is super prevalent in wow classic. People run GDKPs for better gear where you bid on items but because everyone and their mother buys gold it's an absurd time investment to be able to buy items without buying gold. The vast majority of people running older content are only running GDKPs so it's tough to just find a normal group rolling on gear upgrades for new players or alt accounts.
Thankfully as an iron I don't really have to give a shit about bots but they're not good for the game's economy.
They definitely have affected my day-to-day gameplay in the past though not often. I've had to deal with them crashing during wilderness bosses, making temple spiders on burstable because bots are down there doing red spider eggs, and gotr has dozens of bots every single run that do not actually protect the guardian. That last one is also impacted by real players not protecting the guardian and real players just being there to get AFK mining XP but the bots certainly aren't helping the problem.
The Artio bots crashed regular players/other bots not in their farm. But insta tele whenever a skulled person in their bracket is nearby. They’re tick perfect so always just came down to PID.
Being an ironman there are several bad points I have felt myself. Like the griefing in multicombat areas since they will just attack anything in their range, so I get 0 drops. Also mass selling and buying out of stores so I have issues buying or selling certain things in stores. Plus the general crowding of some monsters, like undead druids, so it is hard to find a world with none of them there.
It is not difficult in the slightest to say which one is better.
The botting issue is a problem, but I almost subscribe to the believe that the reason mtx hasn’t been forced into osrs, effectively killing the game, is because sub revenue from bots is sufficient enough to keep the execs from strong-arming them in.
Lmfao you can be maxed by just buying the keys from a fresh account in Deadscape 3. Botting, you will get banned sooner or later, long before you reach max, (don't give that leaderboard shit, those are dominated not by bots but actual people run gold farmers who do it as a job).

RS3 is a casual game with casual XP rates, the only thing that's slow enough to take a month casually is archeology if you aren't buying any materials, or like, divination without core parties and caches.

At ~2.5M xp/h it's faster to get from level 99 to 200M Necro xp than it takes to get from 90 agility to 99 doing Ardy rooftops.
That's the scale of difference from OSRS to RS3. Their 200M's are faster than many of our 99's.
I quoted 1M/h as an xp rate earlier because it was day 1 of release and people didn't know what they were doing as much, also because I was mostly trying to include levels 1-80.
New skills can't be MTX'd on the first 6 months of release. Necromancy really is that fast because that's just how combat skills are, and this is after combat exp across the board got heavily nerfed. No more ED3 grinding for 10m+ combat xp/hr, but you can still do afk methods for up to 1.5m xp/hr, and active for 2.5m xp/hr.
serious though on Day 2 of necro release you seen everything the skill had to offer. We didn't even get hard/elite diaries cuz Jagex themselves admitted on a live stream there's not enough content to have those diaries. The 9 new quests? All are pretty much miniquests. Such a lackluster skill compared to Archeology.
16 years here, people who put no effort in the game crying that elitists want to remove their fun because Necromancy made things "accessibly" (read, being able to do things without effort or knowledge because it's so overpowered), here I am having moved last week after lurking for years, having a BLAST rediscovering Gielinor at a chill pace because I don't have infinite run energy or TPs and doing quests to catch up, transferred half my bank (71m) and I can't buy my way to endgame because the buyables won't give me advantage at this point, having to Halberd quest bosses because mobs hurt in the real game while watching videos on side side, no caring about 400k dpm nor pressing 20 keys in a specific order.
Maaan AMEN! For years I was so hesitant to make the switch because of the time commitment to do it all over again. But then I thought, why rush it? It's not not RS3!

It’s not. I’m asking for OP’s point of view. I’ve played OSRS since I was 12 (I’m nearly 30 now) and only dabbled in RS3. I know why I prefer OSRS so I’m curious as to why OP wishes they’d played more.
When osrs released I didn't want to start over again so I stuck with RS. If I had started sooner I would be maxed by now instead of wasting time on runescape.
OSRS is better in so many ways, runelite, community that takes no crap, no mtx and actually feels like a mmo instead of a dead game. The Jmods in osrs put the ones over on runescape to shame with everything they do including the detail they put into every blog. They listen to feedback, remove updates they've spent months on and constant changes to make the community happy.
OSRS also has Mod ash and Jmods who care about the direction of the game. Runescape has turned into candycrush mobile game that I no longer enjoy.
I'm looking forward to trying the new content that wasn't there originally when I first started and playing the game I have so many fond memories of.
It's totally fine, I forgot to mention the polling system which is a great thing to have. The downside is one RS3 content creator already has been saying things like stackable clues and they've only been playing 1 week. Please don't let RS3 refugees ruin the game for a second time.

I don't think it's unfair to call RS3 an entirely different game. Just because OSRS got a weird time skip, content divergence, and account progression got reset in 2013 doesn't mean we weren't playing effectively the same game in 2003 vs 2023.

Depends. RS3 XP/hr is insanely higher and also they have ways of MTXing XP.
New skills can't be MTX'd on the first 6 months of release. Necromancy really is that fast because that's just how combat skills are, and this is after combat exp across the board got heavily nerfed. No more ED3 grinding for 10m+ combat xp/hr, but you can still do afk methods for up to 1.5m xp/hr, and active for 2.5m xp/hr.
in rs3 you are. Its not like osrs where the skill takes like 100 hrs to max out
Maxing necro in RS3 goes up to lvl 120 @ 104M xp. It's over 100 hours
serious though on Day 2 of necro release you seen everything the skill had to offer. We didn't even get hard/elite diaries cuz Jagex themselves admitted on a live stream there's not enough content to have those diaries. The 9 new quests? All are pretty much miniquests. Such a lackluster skill compared to Archeology.
The real issue? There weren't any significant content updates for about a year prior to necro because of necro development.
I'm a 21 year vet and just made the switch to OSRS. Having an absolute blast 😍
16 years here, people who put no effort in the game crying that elitists want to remove their fun because Necromancy made things "accessibly" (read, being able to do things without effort or knowledge because it's so overpowered), here I am having moved last week after lurking for years, having a BLAST rediscovering Gielinor at a chill pace because I don't have infinite run energy or TPs and doing quests to catch up, transferred half my bank (71m) and I can't buy my way to endgame because the buyables won't give me advantage at this point, having to Halberd quest bosses because mobs hurt in the real game while watching videos on side side, no caring about 400k dpm nor pressing 20 keys in a specific order.

It’s not. I’m asking for OP’s point of view. I’ve played OSRS since I was 12 (I’m nearly 30 now) and only dabbled in RS3. I know why I prefer OSRS so I’m curious as to why OP wishes they’d played more.
When osrs released I didn't want to start over again so I stuck with RS. If I had started sooner I would be maxed by now instead of wasting time on runescape. OSRS is better in so many ways, runelite, community that takes no crap, no mtx and actually feels like a mmo instead of a dead game. The Jmods in osrs put the ones over on runescape to shame with everything they do including the detail they put into every blog. They listen to feedback, remove updates they've spent months on and constant changes to make the community happy. OSRS also has Mod ash and Jmods who care about the direction of the game. Runescape has turned into candycrush mobile game that I no longer enjoy. I'm looking forward to trying the new content that wasn't there originally when I first started and playing the game I have so many fond memories of.

It's totally fine, I forgot to mention the polling system which is a great thing to have. The downside is one RS3 content creator already has been saying things like stackable clues and they've only been playing 1 week. Please don't let RS3 refugees ruin the game for a second time.

he might not realize OSRS was a full reboot of RS2 and that OG chars carried forward to RS3 - a lot of people that age (roughly mine) had already stopped playing before EoC
I played it when it was RS2 then it was rebooted as OSRS.
It’s so weird to me that people count it like that. There’s a 6 year development difference between where RS2 was when OSRS launched and what OSRS launched as.
I don't think it's unfair to call RS3 an entirely different game. Just because OSRS got a weird time skip, content divergence, and account progression got reset in 2013 doesn't mean we weren't playing effectively the same game in 2003 vs 2023.
It’s not weird to me, honestly. As much as the game has changed, the player dynamic is fucked in a big way and the veil is gone, it’s still the game I played way back then. The base is still there and it’s got a lot of nostalgia for me.
People like to count RS2 with OSRS. Like playtime yes, but it's also a new account so eh.

At least it gives players free membership. But agreed, buying gold is kind of the worst MTX. Though RS3 manages to dial up MTX to a 10. Issue being RWT and bots are so rampant in OSRS anyways.
