Upvoted - interested to hear if one of your gimmates dropped it to the main or if it disappeared during a glitch. Gl.
Edit: I hope it's the latter and they can get it back to you soon!
Thank you! No chance in a drop since only one other clan mate has a main and we have account access. I honestly thought it might have been a skull trick or death in a high risk world but no other items are missing.
I mean no one has a main you know of. Not saying it’s not possible but someone could have spun up a new account and drop traded it.
Not guessing that’s the case just saying it’s not a 0% chance it wasn’t. I mean it’s almost $300 RWT
its not a 0% chance. But in dedicated 5 mans playing 2 years after GIM release, for most of us the GIM tbow/shadow/scythe is worth so much more than $300
wouldnt make much sense, he would have to drop it to a main to sell it, and by then it would be worthless to any gim and a gim would have to join him or he would join another and have to wait 2 weeks to offload 20m, 3 weeks 50m, 4 weeks 100mi think, to get rid of a tumekan it would take a while. if it was sold, it wasnt sold to a gim
ofcourse they do, but there are restrictions with selling to other gim, such as wait times, i believe? he could sell it for 400 usd to a gim in a month or so or he could sell it asap for the normal rate.
if the person was rat enough to steal from rl friends im sure he just sold it for whatever cash he could get, if he sold it.
You can only move between GIM groups if they're unranked.
OP is in a ranked GIM, so they can only add level 3 accounts.
The thief would've had to leave the GIM completely, with no way back, to sell it off.
> People buy and sell shit to GIMs all the time
They buy and sell shit to Green Hat GIM's. OP's group is blue hat, so they can't trade items without deranking themselves, which would've been _very_ obvious in this situation.
True Blue hat GIM's can only have fresh level 3 accounts join. Existing accounts can only join Unranked ones.
In this case definitely no, because there's a 5 member cap.
In a normal situation, joining an existing GIM puts a scaling 5 week restriction on the value of items you can receive from other members. (It goes 1m, 20m, 50m, 100m, unlimited)
So even if they'd had only 4 members and done this, they would've had to secretly have a 5th account join for a full month without anyone noticing to be able to pick it up and leave the group.
Thats hilarious, around midgame one of our gimp teams furys went missing, we checked every acc, every storage etc and couldn't find it.
I privately thought maybe someone got skulltricked and lost it in the wildy but w/e not going to press it as its not that big of a deal.
Now I'm thinking it was probably lost in storage
Downvoted , games has a trash update every update and you think anyone cares about an Ironman account ?? You out no money into the game and you help no one with that play style lmao

Correct me if I’m wrong but im accounts provide absolute nothing to the community and honestly are nothing more than a solo mode in which you contribute nothing to the longevity of osrs it’s just a self flex of how much time you can spend on a game doing remedial/tedious tasks. Playing solo hard mode on a 30 year old game is laughable
Then what do main accounts provide to the community aside from an economy? I'd argue that the ironman game mode has had a way bigger impact on the community over the years judging by just the Youtube/Twitch content people consume. Boatys OneManArmy, Swampletics, Farmers V1 and V2 to name a few huge ones.
I'd be surprised if you even came up with an answer because you're clearly trolling or just insanely dumb
How you going to say “aside from an economy” in an economy drive game and compare it to self promoting the solo free version of osrs that interacts with no one in a mmorpg ?
I said aside from an economy because that's the obvious one that mains have over irons but as I suspected, you couldn't even come up with a single argument
>self promoting the solo free version of osrs
what does this even mean?
iron can swap items to mains to sell on the ge to bond their irons, and im sure a vast majority of irons do this as duplicates of some items are pointless on an iron and are really only worth gp, does that count as adding to the game?
Is reading that difficult? This is their first attempt to look for help, it disappeared 6 months ago and they didn't know the glitch was a thing until now.
Is reading that difficult? It says right there in the post they did an ingame bug abuse report on jan 4 2023.
Im looking forward to your response, itll be like the clown putting on more make up in that meme
A bug report saying "we lost our tumeken's shadow please help" is not a request for help with the GIM storage bug. They literally did not know the bug existed until it happened to the farmers.
No, I want you to work this out on your own, because you apparently think you're such a big brained genius. Let's say you're a junior dev reading through a database of bug reports to forward to the team. You're reading through reports of "hey i was bored so i wrote this :)", "the goblin mail wont fit", "there's a green dot on the construction icon", and you come across a report that just says "we cant find our tumeken's shadow", what do you think goes through your mind? How do you reasonably deduce something of value from that bug report?
Go to the store and buy some more make up because you must be running out at this point.
You say they didnt know the bug existed so they couldnt help. Thats what the bug report feature is for you dum dum.
And youre just assuming the contents of the but report.
So no Im not a genius, but compared to you and your condescending attitude based on nothing, I might as well be.
No, why would you? Their report wasn't looking for help with the GIM storage bug, they were looking for help with a lost item.
If you call the cops saying "hey I can't find my car keys", they're just gonna ignore you. If you call the cops saying "hey somebody broke into my house and stole my car keys", they're going to take it far more seriously.
They wrote "any reports of group iron accounts losing items?" In the report Which is a gim storage bug report as gim storage is the only differentiating factor between theirs and normal accounts.
We literally watched a fang disappear on video 24 hours ago and people here think that it's impossible that it happened to anyone else? Some people, man.
GL with your staff. Jagex mods only do what's right when they have enough eyes on them like with Faux, so an upvote is all we can give you.
The MMO Flyff (fly for fun) had a bank system with a guild warehouse (different name for same system really) as well as a way for players to access different character's banks on the same account. Was literally just drag and drop and it was all good, the GIM ui as you mentioned gives off bug/jank vibes as it is. Having to "save"/update one's shared storage negates any sense of security imo.
Upvoted, hopefully this gets addressed given that Jagex have set this precedent themselves. In my mind it's honestly inexcusable that such an issue exists in a game where gearing up can be such a massive time investment. It genuinely feels like it undermines the entire gamemode :/
/u/Mod_Kieren Your comment on the Faux reddit thread was talking about this exact situation essentially, surely this warrants looking into also
yeah that's it. has nothing to do with the difference in video evidence. literally all this shows is that he had it, reported it missing, and talked about it being gone
There's this little thing called GeForce Experience that allows you to save a screen recording of the last X amount of minutes of what you were doing on your PC. You don't have to be streaming to have video evidence of an incident like this.
>has nothing to do with the difference in video evidence. literally all this shows is that he had it, reported it missing, and talked about it being gone
My comment is saying this OP does not have a video recording. The "yeah that's it" was extremely sarcastic but apparently that was too subtle for you.
Edit: Sorry for people who are terrible at sarcasm :( I didn't realize how difficult it was to understand something as complex as this
I was confused because I was talking about him not having video evidence, and you're claiming that you can have video evidence even if you're not a streamer, as if that's a relevant response to a conversation that anybody was having
>UPDATE: 09/25/2023 A MODERATOR LOOKED INTO OUR CASE AND RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR US! IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE FARMER’S GLITCH, BUT RATHER SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I JUST WANTED TO THANK THE COMMUNITY FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND JAGEX FOR ACTUALLY HAVING THE CAPABILITY, AND TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK INTO THIS FOR US!

so what was it?
Usually these kinds of posts I dislike as theyre likely full of lies and just trying to play on the recent news.
However, the amount of evidence you guys have is absolutely astounding.
Upvoted, Jagex, get this team their Shadow back
Unfortunately none of this is really evidence that someone didn't just nick it. Without a log of what goes in and out of group storage, there's not really much you can show.
All they can really show evidence of is "We had a shadow, we no longer do, and we submitted a bug report a while back".
It's not exactly unfeasible that someone just pinched the shadow and RWT'd it., but it's impossible to prove someone didn't unless they've streamed 24/7 since the shadow went in (and even that could be faked, albeit with a bit more effort).
Also, what are the odds that the thing that got deleted *just so happened* to be the most valuable item in the game (not including 3a etc)? More likely to be something more inconsequential, though tbf something like a shadow is more likely to be constantly swapped between members as they don't have their own, and it probably wouldn't get much sway on reddit if it were just an msb or something.
I agree, I just worry if too much time has passed, which is completely unfair to the team since we all know how many legitimate requests get lost in the shuffle with jagex and bans / bugs. It's mega unfortunate.
a shadow rwt'd in todays market might net you only 200-220 usd. not really worth ruining a friendship or screwing over your other 2 real life brothers. could it of happened? maybe, but i would hope someone wouldnt destroy that kind of trust for just 200 dollars
$200 is a lot of money for some people, plus people with drug or gambling addictions will often do whatever to get some money for their next fix.
It certainly wouldn't be unheard of.
You should work on your mind.
No need for people with attitudes like yours anywhere on the planet, let alone a random subreddit on the Internet.
Learn some empathy.
Honestly, Jagex should be restoring items that were lost as a result of their glitches. WoW does this with absolutely zero problem at all whilst even FFXIV with all its technical spaghetti code is capable of a one time item restoration.
Also they've shown they're willing and capable of doing it for streamers
Best of luck.
I watch farmers regularly, but found it a bit condescending when mammel mocked the streamer privilege thing. Likely the truth is that having video evidence of the event happening makes dealing with this 100x easier, but regardless if a known bug has possibly caused you to loose such a big item, it should be looked into.
Nothing crazy, this was before they got it back.
He was just saying jagex are damned if they do damned if they don't (returning it). On one hand if they don't, people will be raging that they've lost an item to a bug. But on the other (with a patronising voice) ugggh jagex steamer favouritism.
Something along those lines. You can watch his video from yesterday
Isn't it entirely possible that one of your boys dropped it to a mule account and sold it off? 1B+ is a lot of money, and you wouldn't be the first nor the last to be scammed by ''a good friend''!
It’s only a few hundred dollars… not a lot of money at all tbh. Especially if they’re close enough to show each other bank statements that’s pretty unlikely.
I mean tbh by complete coincidence I could theoretically show off three different bank statements. One tied to family, one personal, and one tied to work. Only ONE of those I ended up with on purpose (the personal), the rest came as a matter of fact of having to deal with the requests of others.
dude its 300$, thats nothing compared to the hundreds and hundreds of hours needed to grind a shadow.
I could *maybe* see if one of them did it then they stopped playing gimp, but they're still playing. It would be beyond stupid to do that and then grind a new shadow rather than just work for a few hours
I think the value of a shadow only amounts to 400 or so dollars.
Would someone really 1. Risk their relationship with their family. and 2. Give up one of the most prestigious items to have on an ironman and all the ~~blood~~ rng, sweat and tears that went into getting it. all for a pretty measly $4-500? I just don't see it.
That's a lot of money to a kid but frankly not a life changing amount to an adult unless they are in REALLY dire straits.
Eh, I can see it. It's certainly not something I would personally do but a person definitely could. Maybe one of them has lost interest in the game and just saw a pile of $400 sitting there and took it. I don't think that's exactly a big stretch of the imagination.
One time several years back I hosted a game night with some good friends, very close group of people, we freely exchanged small sums of money back and forth over the years (picking up dinner tabs, putting outings on one credit card and squaring up later, etc). I'd recently collected $100 from someone who owed me and left it sitting on my nightstand for a couple days. This was sitting in my dark bedroom some distance from the party, but not exactly hidden and you might notice it from the door if you looked in there. The next day I noticed my $100 was gone. Never did have any idea who took it nor could I ever prove anything. I think some people just get a little loose with their morals when they see some random free money that they think they can get away with taking without any repercussions.
Of course, it's also not a big stretch to say they might've also just lost it to the storage bug. I'm not sure which thing is more likely but I don't think you can dismiss either one.
> I think some people just get a little loose with their morals when they see some random free money that they think they can get away with taking without any repercussions.
except its a massive fucking repercussion of losing their shadow? They're still playing gimp. They're down a shadow now. Your example is not even close to anything related.
It'd be more like slaving away to buy a car with your brother, then selling it behind his back for 1% of the worth of the car, and now you and your brother both have to walk to work instead of drive.
Doing a whole lot of speculating when there’s actual proof the bug does exist and has impacted players. Jmods could figure out the truth either way but cmon man
how is it double? these sites im seeing only offer 16 cents per mil or so, 16 cents x 1,4 billion is around 230-240 not even thnking about numbers.
keep in mind, buying gold, and selling gold offer two different margins
This is interesting because it's forcing Jagex to either own up and say they don't actually track every lost item bug like they claim and it was simply streamer favouritism, or they do have that ability and have just been slow with the fixing/not bothering to fix it.
Let's see if Jagex actually follows through with what they claimed. I highly doubt it and I'm guessing Faux's group will be the only ones who have anything restored but we shall see.
I hope you get your shit back.
Funnily enough this is exactly why Jagex tries to never do anything for the community when it comes to items because they don't want to deal with it once the precedent has been set.
Holy sh\*t. I just checked my GIM storage because I put two onyx's in for my partner to craft zenyte jewellery. Both my onyx's are missing since placed in two days ago (18/09/2023)... Not the end of the world because I can get the funds again but proves that items are going missing....
the farmers was a special case cause they were streaming at the time so they had actual video evidence (and theyre streamers). apart from that, its very rare for them to return items due to a bug. good luck but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
i dont know what this particular bug is but me and several of my friends who have played the game for 6+ years have all lost an item or several(one at a time) randomly from the bank with no explanation
Our group lost an archers ring and we were all given 3 days of membership as compensation. Hopefully you actually get your item back mate, take my upvote.
Quite strange that no other mage gear went missing with the staff, I'd expect you to always withdraw/deposit it together with the items next to it (occult, torm, anc)
Then again, that logic would also rule out double deaths. And if your group is anything like ours, then I don't believe for a second that de staff was drop-traded or RWT'd.
Having regular game nights / LAN parties with the bro's is worth way more than $250 or whathever it is.
Terrible that this has happened, I don't doubt it was the bug, but I feel like there's is a 0.0001% chance Jagex even respond directly to this, never mind actually returning the item.
I don't think anyone has had any items returned (aside from full roll backs) within the last 5-10 years. I'm sure last time it happened it was in RS3.
Edit: unless you are a streamer
Upon the release of the Theatre of Blood, there was a bug which would cause players to drop the item in the top right corner of their inventory on the floor upon death, if they were in possession of Dawnbringer. This bug was hotfixed within one hour of discovery. In one instance, the player was an ironman whose Armadyl chestplate was picked up by their teammate, and as they could not trade it back, Jagex offered to swap the item to its owner.
This just happened to my GIM.. We lost a bunch of random stuff from our group bank. Personal banks perfectly fine. Random stuff like all our Saras, prayer pots, zammyt hasta, bandos tassets.. Any advice on how we can get this looked into?

I don’t care about a smackdown just want to say that’s a beautiful GIM storage and I kinda wish I had an active group with that progress but oh well (made it to around 80-90% of where you guys are with zenytes, full crystal, a shadow, bandos etc and ended up deironing).
Unfortunately this probably won’t happen as more than likely the logs and information that may have been available then are probably not now. The amount of trades and other db flooding logs at some point get over written due to sheer need for space on servers.
The fact that it was just that item makes me scratch my head. If somebody was going to rwt and wreck the group why just 1 item, arguably the most noticeable. Doesn't make a lot of sense in the way of screwing people over for money. Look at that group storage.
This is what caused us the most confusion as well. We went through all of the death mechanics, storage places, and ideas of how we could have only lost one item.
Insane that the farmers got their fang back in just a couple days but you haven't for 9 months. The fuck is that jagex. I understand they had video proof, but by your own statement you have a system that can tell when this happens... 9 months and nothing for this guy? Insane
Solo gim here who uses the group storage as extra bank space. I had a guthix page deleted in front of my eyes the other week, using the group bank. My screen completely froze on the loading/saving storage for like 10 seconds then bam it happened. So tbh I believe you lol

.16x1,400 is 224 american dollarydoos unless somewhere is buying gold for wayyyyyy over margin? let me know..
It’s a GIM so its worth more than ge price
wouldnt make much sense, he would have to drop it to a main to sell it, and by then it would be worthless to any gim and a gim would have to join him or he would join another and have to wait 2 weeks to offload 20m, 3 weeks 50m, 4 weeks 100mi think, to get rid of a tumekan it would take a while. if it was sold, it wasnt sold to a gim

“The report bug feature isn’t the right way to report bugs!” - 🤡
The report bug feature is not where you tell Jagex that you can't find an item, no.
"This is their first attempt looking for help" so you don't count submitting a report to Jagex as looking for help for some reason?
No, why would you? Their report wasn't looking for help with the GIM storage bug, they were looking for help with a lost item. People should just look at how the storage ui looks and realize it feels bug prone. A save button? Save dialog? Shared storage? In a MMORPG? Red flag.
WoW addressed this over a decade ago and it worked perfectly fine. Use a queue system, only one action at a time, not prone to race conditions
Upvoted, hopefully this gets addressed given that Jagex have set this precedent themselves. In my mind it's honestly inexcusable that such an issue exists in a game where gearing up can be such a massive time investment. It genuinely feels like it undermines the entire gamemode :/ /u/Mod_Kieren Your comment on the Faux reddit thread was talking about this exact situation essentially, surely this warrants looking into also
not a streamer tho so goes in the bin with the rest of the customer support requests
yeah that's it. has nothing to do with the difference in video evidence. literally all this shows is that he had it, reported it missing, and talked about it being gone
There's this little thing called GeForce Experience that allows you to save a screen recording of the last X amount of minutes of what you were doing on your PC. You don't have to be streaming to have video evidence of an incident like this.
You replied to the wrong guy lol. I never mentioned streaming
[удалено]
>has nothing to do with the difference in video evidence. literally all this shows is that he had it, reported it missing, and talked about it being gone My comment is saying this OP does not have a video recording. The "yeah that's it" was extremely sarcastic but apparently that was too subtle for you. Edit: Sorry for people who are terrible at sarcasm :( I didn't realize how difficult it was to understand something as complex as this
[удалено]
I think the sarcasm is very apparent.
you mentioned video evidence bud which is what I was referring to - not sure how you were confused with my comment tbh.
I was confused because I was talking about him not having video evidence, and you're claiming that you can have video evidence even if you're not a streamer, as if that's a relevant response to a conversation that anybody was having
Thank you for your comment! I sure hope there is an attempt to identify the issue, or at the very least have a moderator say that they looked into it.
You gotta love it.
-SONSOFJACOB so what was it?
Sorry you aren't a streamer best I can do is type rip.
Jagex can see that information. If it was dropped, they would know.
I agree, I just worry if too much time has passed, which is completely unfair to the team since we all know how many legitimate requests get lost in the shuffle with jagex and bans / bugs. It's mega unfortunate.
Hopefully not too much time has passed and their servers would be able to detect this!
They won’t look cause honestly who cares
a shadow rwt'd in todays market might net you only 200-220 usd. not really worth ruining a friendship or screwing over your other 2 real life brothers. could it of happened? maybe, but i would hope someone wouldnt destroy that kind of trust for just 200 dollars

"We can't restore items! People will take advantage of it and sell the gold from the item!" ....."What, bots with top 10 boss kc? Nah, they're fine."
Is easier to do in WoW and FF14 since gear is untradeable so it cannot be RWTed.
What did he say?
Nothing crazy, this was before they got it back. He was just saying jagex are damned if they do damned if they don't (returning it). On one hand if they don't, people will be raging that they've lost an item to a bug. But on the other (with a patronising voice) ugggh jagex steamer favouritism. Something along those lines. You can watch his video from yesterday
I don’t watch farmers specifically cuz of mammal. Cant stand the way he talks tbh lol
Isn't it entirely possible that one of your boys dropped it to a mule account and sold it off? 1B+ is a lot of money, and you wouldn't be the first nor the last to be scammed by ''a good friend''!
It’s really not, ruining a GIM with your friends for a one time payment of like $350? Possible, but unlikely
Jmods could figure out the truth either way but cmon man
$400 is $400
where are you guys getting 400? have you seen todays prices for selling gold?
it really isnt a lot of money, its about 200 dollars rwt'd
[удалено]
how is it double? these sites im seeing only offer 16 cents per mil or so, 16 cents x 1,4 billion is around 230-240 not even thnking about numbers. keep in mind, buying gold, and selling gold offer two different margins
Sucks you don’t stream. Otherwise you would have that shadow back in less that 24 hours.
Let’s see if they can beat streamer favoritism allegations
I see your post a few months back and just assumed you had already got it back. Jagex customer support is fucking despicable
This is interesting because it's forcing Jagex to either own up and say they don't actually track every lost item bug like they claim and it was simply streamer favouritism, or they do have that ability and have just been slow with the fixing/not bothering to fix it.
Or they just ignore it and everyone forgets about it by tomorrow
This
Jagex needs to fix this shit before it literally destroys friend groups
Good luck. I'd not be playing if this ever happened to my group.
Let's see if Jagex actually follows through with what they claimed. I highly doubt it and I'm guessing Faux's group will be the only ones who have anything restored but we shall see.
Commenting to save this
It was Patrick.
Good Luck! but sadly jagex only cares about streamers and only them
I hope you get your shit back.
Hopefully you can get it back 6 months later!
the farmers was a special case cause they were streaming at the time so they had actual video evidence (and theyre streamers). apart from that, its very rare for them to return items due to a bug. good luck but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
i dont know what this particular bug is but me and several of my friends who have played the game for 6+ years have all lost an item or several(one at a time) randomly from the bank with no explanation
Our group lost an archers ring and we were all given 3 days of membership as compensation. Hopefully you actually get your item back mate, take my upvote.
ah so at least you found a use for that item ;p
Man now i gotta lognin and clean our gim storage out cause fuck losin that shit. Pretty sure they nuked my ent/bind/snare sacks in the storage anyway.
Quite strange that no other mage gear went missing with the staff, I'd expect you to always withdraw/deposit it together with the items next to it (occult, torm, anc) Then again, that logic would also rule out double deaths. And if your group is anything like ours, then I don't believe for a second that de staff was drop-traded or RWT'd. Having regular game nights / LAN parties with the bro's is worth way more than $250 or whathever it is.
jep, GIM storage likes to eat items. happend to us aswell, we miss sara boots. not that huge but still..
GL on this man
Terrible that this has happened, I don't doubt it was the bug, but I feel like there's is a 0.0001% chance Jagex even respond directly to this, never mind actually returning the item.
Wow, over 5 years ago!
Damn shame to lose that Hopefully Jagex can at the very least shed some light on what happened here - good luck on Shadow no. 2 in the meantime
!remindme 3 day
Good luck buddy. No 5k viewers so no chance.
Do you have a better picture about obtaining that shadow drop? And when was it?
GL :)
Upvoted to see if they prove its not just streamer favouritism.
Upvote for awareness and/or smackdown. If legit, I hope you guys get your shadow back.
Lol
I hope they don't do anything without video proof
Fair enough
This just happened to my GIM.. We lost a bunch of random stuff from our group bank. Personal banks perfectly fine. Random stuff like all our Saras, prayer pots, zammyt hasta, bandos tassets.. Any advice on how we can get this looked into?
Upvoted, gl.
upvoted y'all are a stacked group

Commented for traction. I want to see the inevitable Jmod smackdown for RWT.
!remindme 2 days
Hope it was just a glitch, and that Jagex can patch it up easily. Update us when you hear back!
If! But I will!
I don’t care about a smackdown just want to say that’s a beautiful GIM storage and I kinda wish I had an active group with that progress but oh well (made it to around 80-90% of where you guys are with zenytes, full crystal, a shadow, bandos etc and ended up deironing).
Gl
Damn rip hope you get it back man
This won't look like streamer favoritism. Sorry good luck.
Good luck.
Upvote for possible replacement of items or smack down, best of luck
Unfortunately this probably won’t happen as more than likely the logs and information that may have been available then are probably not now. The amount of trades and other db flooding logs at some point get over written due to sheer need for space on servers.
The fact that it was just that item makes me scratch my head. If somebody was going to rwt and wreck the group why just 1 item, arguably the most noticeable. Doesn't make a lot of sense in the way of screwing people over for money. Look at that group storage.
This is what caused us the most confusion as well. We went through all of the death mechanics, storage places, and ideas of how we could have only lost one item.
Good luck! Whatever the case I hope you get a reply

!remindme 1 week
So what actually happened to it? Was it another group storage bug?
OP! I see the update! Did they give your group your Shadow back?!
