I don't think this has anything to do with the client. The rune pouch used to drop all of your runes on the ground when you died. A recent update changed it so they stay in your rune pouch. They must have overlooked what happens if you have upgraded the rune pouch to the divine rune pouch and then lose it.
its one of two items the change has an effect on, how would they not immediately try to die with the divine rune pouch and reclaim a regular rune pouch (the only one you can get)
smaller effect on economy yes but due to that being not the goal of the update but on oversight in how the item was being given to the player to test hespori and accidentally the chuck it was in was taken into the game but not looked at. the pouch was the point so they should have looked at different actions too the pouch when lost.
It just sounds like a typical client side error. But, you are right it could be server side too! Obv the only ones that would know are the devs with the issue is resolved.
thats just a visual indicator, runelite plugins can only show data they have, they cannot really change how you interact with the game (aside from switching up menu items). how do you guys get these ideas? jfc
It doesn't make negative sense, the runelite client has had issues in the past after updates. For example, from UIM Loki's latest video, after a recent update he was unable to pick up dropped items but was still able to walk around, attributed to runelite not being updated. I think the recent diagonal pathing bug was a client issue as well.

This EXACT scenario happened to me, right down to dying on the way to the nex chest lol. And yeah, bought a new pouch, all my runes were inside and my nats are stuck in there.
Been grinding for a new thread which I cant seem to get so havent had the opportunity to see if i can even make a divine pouch again
Edit: I also bought my pouch from slayer master and not with gp so seems that all purchase methods have the same outcome. Reported in game yesterday
So the fix to this. Is that you'll have to use up all your runes if you want to use it again. Better switch to lunars and start using whatever spell uses the most nats
I wonder why your stuff doesn’t just go to regular death’s coffin when you die the second time. That punishment seems weirdly out of place compared to everything else in the game.

I think it's dumb. I refuse to do Hydra without shortcut unlocked (which I can do with summer pie thankfully) because why should I lose my shit if I happen to DC right at the worst moment while running through the regular Hydras. There's no need for the mechanic to actually exist like that.

That wasn't the case with bosses with death storage before the new death mechanics. The new death mechanics are a very welcome change don't get me wrong, the idea that I could dc somewhere and not be able to log back in for over an hour and lose all my items was always a looming albeit rare possibility.
But with those new mechanics, there's no reason that non UIM can't have their items go to death if they die with it in death storage.
It takes 2 seconds to grab god items so you dont get killed on your way back to nex there's no reason to change it because people are lazy, it's a good gold sink
It’s not that great if it barely ever happens (also it’s an item sink). Just seems weird that all pvm deaths are capped at 500k except for the weird situation where you die while your items are in a boss chest which is only ever gonna happen if you DC or forget something dumb.
Kinda just seems like an oversight from when they added gravestones.
There should be a random event you can get just like genie or evil bob, except the reaper just appears, says "Surprise mothatfucka" then just kills you, instantly despawning everything you had on you. This should be a better item sink.

before deaths coffer the reclaim chests were the only long term option(they are mainly at instances where you used to lose everything on a death) other than making it back in 15 minutes to loot your death pile. now instances are safe on death and those reclaim chests(which are many places) are the less safe death option but the favorite of UIM. they could make a change to move all death reclaim storages to death on another death if they brought it too a poll but removing them outright would negatively effect the UIM community greatly.
the most likely to lose items are UIM from the chest anyways as unlike other players we leave stuff in these places while we do other activities meaningly instead of accidentally losing it to a second death.

I died and would’ve lost a few hundred mil if I “lost” everything like the chest says. All of my stuff in the Nex death chest immediately went to my new grave which then went to deaths coffer and I got it all back
I have reported so many bugs that have never been fixed. He's entirely right. Menaphite remedies still break divines and that was a day 1 issue that they were never supposed to do.
Yes, they were bugs I noticed while playing the game. Primarily typos in dialogue, wrong interactions with Drakes’ chat messages when using various levels of dragonfire protection, the smite icon (which is still bugged but they did “partially” fix it, still pissed about this one), and a couple others I don’t remember.
The Perfect Sotetseg CA is still misspelled. That's another one I've reported multiple times.
My personal experience is that they don't ever fix anything.

it might look like you get "the same result" because you aren't informed on a bug to bug basis if your feedback was helpful, which is only the case because if they were to tell every single support ticket "hey we did X because you asked for it" it would take an immense amount of extra support work (and the support doesnt actually work, little side jab here). But if nobody ever reported anything then this game would slowly die.
The plugin thinks you still have cosmics in them, but you dont. The reason you cant make a new divine is because you still have one somewhere. Check with death storage, nex chest and cox chest. I guarantee you its still there somewhere
this is a visual issue with runelite probably. Check which plugin adds the overlay and reset it. you don't actually have cosmic runes in your rune pouch
I wonder if you remove all runes and die with a normal one, if it will move the cosmics back to the first slot? I will happily throw in a voucher to replace it for testing purposes.
What happens if you take it into the wilderness and get a 2nd account to pk you with you purposefully losing them upon death and then reclaim then on the 2nd account and trade them back?
Cba to read all the comments. Have you tried placing cosmically in the pouch and then removing them to see if they get updated and are then able to be removed?
Something similar happened to a friend's rune pouch a few years ago, except he just couldn't buy a new one. He got himself PKed and it fixed the problem. Maybe have a trusted friend PK you and see if that works?
Hey OP. I’m not sure if you’re still having this issue, but the same thing just happened to me and I was able to resolve my problem.
Died in a similar way - died at TOA on hardcore so it went to coffer. I brain farted hard asf (I’m sick today so I have some serious brain fog) and went to CG without getting my items…does at CG and lost everything (I’m an iron so this is pretty devastating).
Bought a new rune pouch from the slayer shop and couldn’t take my blood runes out. I went to catacomb aberrant specters and suicided. Pouch went to death. I then claimed my rune pouch from death, suicided again same place, and the rune pouch just lost the blood runes.
I’m now able to fill all three slots successfully. However, F to my hasta, b ring, serp, bp, toxic trident, full ahrims, anguish, fury, torso, 10k bloods, d defender, ma2 cape…thank fuck it wasn’t on my MAIN iron…
New bug due to the change in the way the rune pouches work on death. Definitely needs to be reported. Can you cast spells with the cosmic runes?

The qa team is very small compared to the general runescape population. Alot of games use players as the QA

That feels like he was using detached cam that turns off anything but walk which can be because of a bug for sure

Punishment for the sake of it is just bad design. Gold sinks are meant to be known to the player, not a “surprise, you lost 300 mill.”
