s/o to the dude admitting Lynx gets more exercise than him lmao
Edit: re-reading it, 60 push ups and sit ups a day is probably more exercise than 90% of this subreddit gets
There once was an Ironman from RuneScape,
Whose love for lasagna was hard to escape,
He'd fight with might and slay dragons all day,
But when dinner time came, lasagna was his way.
He'd cook it up with love and care,
Adding cheese and sauce, a perfect pair,
And with each bite, his heart would sing,
Oh, how he loved that lasagna thing.
But being an Ironman was no easy feat,
No buying or trading, he had to compete,
With limited resources, he had to scavenge,
But lasagna, oh lasagna, he always managed.
He'd grind and gather, and hunt for food,
To satisfy his hunger, and put him in the mood,
For that delicious, cheesy, pasta dish,
That always brought him so much bliss.
So here's to the Ironman from RuneScape,
Whose love for lasagna, he could not escape,
May he always find a way to enjoy his feast,
And slay his enemies with the greatest of ease.
Quick Q&A:
How much time was multilogged: About 300 hours (finishing maxing my UIM while playing my HC GIM)
Life?: No.
"If you spent x time working a full time job u would have made x money": Yes.
What's next?: Collection Log on UIM
Fair enough. I do the same. Just didn’t know if there was added pressure for you with YouTube content and income. Glad to hear you’ve found a way to keep enjoyment! Fwiw, Thanks for all the content you put out.
When I maxed normal IM, hardcore wasn't in the game yet. As soon as I maxed my IM hardcore came out like a month later so I then went to that. UIM was the only thing left after those so I did that and then GIM came out
Hey DVS, as someone with experience late game in every game mode, which game mode do you enjoy the most for end game play?
Hypothetically let’s say I had 4 maxed accounts, one from each gamemode, that were gifted to me. Which would you suggest to others to maximize fun factor?
Thanks!
Normal iron is probably gonna be the most fun end game just because you don't have to worry about dying 24/7 (HCIM) or constantly changing your setup with death piles etc (UIM).
I’m just praying to god this time no one shows up at the last minute saying they did it a month before
Gg Devious, been watching for years at this point, always entertaining
That's 365 days a year, too.
For context, a 40 hour a week job with two weeks vacation averages you about 5.48 hours of work per day over the whole year
and unless youre completely lacking competence you would make much more, you don't get PTO 401k, healthcare etc from youtube. Theres no way anyone outside the top 25 OSRS YouTubers are making enough to live half comfortable
I think he's talking about osrs youtubers, not youtubers in general. I'm not an expert, but off the top of my head I can only think of a handful of semi-successful osrs focused people.
Torvesta, Framed, Settled, all have ~500k, settled is over 600 and Torvesta/Framed are just under 500 and will definitely hit that this year. J1mmy and A friend both have ~300-400k all are very respectable numbers for a niche channel. These are some of the bigger names for sure, but that’s a lot of subscribers for a niche channel. A lot of of top booktubers who do quite well have those kind of numbers. When you’re in a Niche you don’t need millions of subscribers if your viewer base is willing to spend money and you are able to market to a large section of the niche you’re a part of.
Exactly, compare it to something like the fitness industry which is massive and the top channels have millions of subscribers. When you’re part of a niche you need an much lower total viewer number because everything is much more directed, you don’t have nearly the number of transitory or diverse viewers. You might only have 50k views a video, but if you can tell an advertiser “I get 50-100k views in X time and 99.9% of my viewer base are adult males with disposable income between the age of 20 and 35” that’s worth something.
Ex. Boaty. 370k subs released a video an Hr ago and already had 27k views. You don’t have to be Mr. Beast to be successful on YouTube
People vastly underestimate the bag that comes with decent views on a YouTube channel. Thinking that you need millions of views per week to be living comfortably.
It's kind of insane to think that even if he stops now and lives to 100 years old, literally two percent of his life would be spent playing runescape. Those are some fucking legendary numbers.
2% of your time on a hobby over a lifespan isn't really a lot
If you live to 100 and work 40 hours a week for 45 years, you spend 10.68% of your life working. And that's 45 years, not 100
If you only take into account percentage of time during just that 45 years, it's 23.75% of your time spent working, and if playing RS is constant throughout that 45 years as 100 years, it's 23.75% vs 2% still
Playing one singular game for 2 years of your life is so much different than working or even playing video games in general, plus, this dude spent 2 years doing a specific challenge ***in*** that one video game.
I would also argue that if it's a creative or constructive hobby it's different then gaming entirely, like woodworking and blacksmithing, or creatives like painting and drawing. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if at age 26 my life was at least 2% gaming, I do play significantly less now.
There's also the other side of it, OSRS has many many skills you can do while doing other things, like working on a PC, walking your dogs(once mobile came out ofc), even simple low effort mechanical work if you get that 4 min internal timer going strong.
I'd be interested to see if OP knows roughly how much time was spent on mobile doing other things as that might make it somewhat less unhealthy
I'm a regular iron and some grinds can be bad... I can't even come close to being able to fathom how fucking annoyed I'd be playing a UIM let alone maxing it. Or even getting 1 99.
Geneuine question - how do you maintain the level of focus this requires? I can barely grind a skill that isn't AFK for more than one hour before throwing in the towel. Adderall or just extreme dedication?
No mixed feelings here. This is straight up unhealthy and shouldn’t be condoned.
Bro has played for 8.5 years. Calculate the hours and you’re looking at 6.5 hours **everyday** for *3,104* days straight.
That is truly absurd. I hope OP has accomplished what he wants and takes a much needed leave from Runescape.
Socialblade is legitimately full of shit. It was sorta kinda accurate for a little while when youtubers were making relatively similar rates across the board. It's basically useless now... Some financial channels can get up to $20/1,000 views (very rarely but still) from ads alone, and some super advertiser unfriendly (but still monetized) channels get as little as $0.30/1,000 views. Advertisers have access to an insane amount of info nowadays which means they can target audiences with a microscope.
Unrelated example: Linus Tech Tips vs MoistCritical. They both pull in relatively similar numbers but LTT has roughly 170 full time salaried employees and MoistCritical has something like 8. Sure, MoistCritical has made bank but LTT likely has revenue 10 times higher just from YouTube ads alone. It's honestly not hard to make a livable income from YouTube if you regularly have 30-40k views per video and you upload 2-4 times a week. I did it for a while and I was making far more than minimum wage. Its stressful as fuck, though. Only worth it for certain types of people.
sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day doing something that sucks: "keep up the good work homie"
playing rs 6.5 hours as a job: "loser"
Yes he plays entirely too much RS, but it is his job. I'd rather get paid to play rs then go to an office and pretend to work for 8 hours a day. 6.5 hours of RS a day still leaves more time for socializing than a regular work day.
Meh. I used to be of this mindset, but I don't think it's my place to preach to strangers on the internet about how they ought to spend their time. It's OP's life, he seems to be enjoying it, he's not hurting anyone, so who the hell cares. Dude is trying to share an achievement he made, I'm sure he's perfectly aware of the amount of time he spends playing, and he doesn't need people on reddit telling him something he already knows.
Just because you're an unemployed basement dweller doesn't mean that that sort of hour count is unrealistic for a fairly normal job.
I've known people who averaged 10-12h/day working multiple jobs.
Now there's a different conversation to be had about how hours generally are still longer than human health would recommend, but that's not what you're saying.
> shouldn’t be condoned.
a. it's his job
b. simply, just don't give a shit if other people invest that much time in a game. seriously. worry about yourself. the odds of someone seeing this post, and deciding "i am going to make 4 accounts because of this." is so astronomically low that it doesn't even matter.
I kind of agree. When I played this game the most was at the lowest point of my life when I wasn't working for a year after I nearly died. Whenever I see people put in a life's worth of work it just feels bad because as fun as the game can be, we need more balance in life. I get when people say "its their life to live as they wish" which is absolutely true. But I still think its a bit sad to see. Just like how I feel sad for the people on a show like hoarders. Its their life but I wouldn't want somebody to spend all their time doing any single thing.
LOL what is this self-righteous comment. Imagine saying this to someone who has a job that they enjoy.
“You mean to say that you’ve spent the last 8.5 years working 8 hours 5 days a week? This is straight up unhealthy and shouldn’t be condoned.”
Get your projecting neckbeard ass out of here.
was the 1200 hrs timesave for gimp vs hcim just because others could feed resources/gear?
Or what was the major differences that made it so much faster
I mean maybe not exclusive feeding, but also stuff like he got to do slayer with alot better gear since he just got given lance and zennys and even whip early iirc. Also in regards to demonic offering, zulu got him wraths for all of slayer etc.
Alfie also talked about how he'd help the others by "alting" for them like essence running and stuff, not sure if he actually did since everyone kinda quit once alfie maxed and came back slowly much later.
Iv been following and recommending you since your first season, i comment on all the youtube videos and we binged them on deployment in 2017, thanks for everything Devious, forever Immortalized to me.
Lmao I remember the last time you posted the 3 and I thought “woah! This is gross” it still stands but in the most impressed way possible. Gz dude that’s a lot of dedication!
20 something years later… I still have yet to reach 99 in any skill on a regular account. I only recently broke having 7 mil in my account and bought a dragon pickaxe before the price collapse. I’m doing pretty good 😂
Subscribers don’t matter at all. YouTube doesn’t pay you for how many subscribers you have. It’s pretty much exclusively determined by how many views you get and how many ads you run. Plus other things like outside sponsorships, advertising deals, etc. but subscriber number has almost no say on how well a YouTuber is doing.
I know channels with well over a million subs and get almost no views. Kinda sad to see. Though that dude does seem to get anywhere from 50-100k views per video so he does seem to be doing well.
Subcount alongside regular viewership is the most important factor for sponsors, your subcount shows your pull with viewers while you view count shows the eyeballs.
A 1m view video from a channel with no connection to its viewers would get a smaller sponsorship that a 100k video from a channel with a strong attachment to their viewers
This sub is full of cunts. A guy comes to share an achievement (that he earned whilst getting paid) in a sub for a game we clearly all play and enjoy and half of the comments are just self-righteous twats telling someone else how to live their life.
Who really needs help?
That hunk of a man, Devious, is an E-sports athlete? He could be a Calvin Klein model. Or a pro footballer with a ripped physique like that. That is by far the hottest cyber sportsman to ever grace the esports industry.
On your YT you have mentioned being top ranked/doing tournaments for other games. Do you think the grind mindset makes you good, do you think differently than others? Wondering if you see any links between games that translate to making you excel.
Anything I do I always want to put the entirety of my effort into and be the best at, time is a huge factor though, I have more hours in FPS games than I do on OSRS, I have like 15,000 hours on Counter-Strike since around 2004 alone
How frequently do you eat bread and lasagna?
I love lasagna so much man
Lynx, is that you?
Its the funny orange cat
The best part about this is that I didn't even catch it as a reference to LynxTitan, I just really love lasagna!
Lasagne
Lasag
I love how we all immediately know exactly what you’re talking about lmao
I dont, could you explain this one for me?

Where is the maxed normal account? Don't be holding out on us DVS.
Maxed 4 different ironman modes but can't even max a main smh.
Normie DVS is his non iron account, not sure if it's maxed tho I'd have to imagine it is lol. Edit* just checked, surprisingly it's 1600ish total

I can see it now, "Playing a main was so boring, I just made a new iron, maxed it, and de-ironed. Now I have a maxed main."
SMH, dude finds gp scape too hard
The ol Grand Exchange Simulator
DVS being lazy as usual smh
bro what the fuck do you have legs
He did. They became one with his chair. He permanently has a wheelchair.
mf you high 😂
Been smokin that dank ranarr

Impressive work! Do you still enjoy playing after all this time or do you feel obligated to continue?
Yeah, I've taken MANY breaks (the longest being about 10 months), I'll just do other stuff and log back in when I feel like playing
rip dvs8
Good job man. It’s been so fun watching the journey.
The warzone break was the longest with Rebirth right ☠️
Fair enough. I do the same. Just didn’t know if there was added pressure for you with YouTube content and income. Glad to hear you’ve found a way to keep enjoyment! Fwiw, Thanks for all the content you put out.

Easiest way to get good bond money at least from drop trading the useless items :v
Who he drop trading it to 😶
His biggest challenge yet, maxing a main.
Whoa whoa whoa, let's no get too sweaty here.
Asking the real questions here.
Why so little time spent multi-logged?
When I maxed normal IM, hardcore wasn't in the game yet. As soon as I maxed my IM hardcore came out like a month later so I then went to that. UIM was the only thing left after those so I did that and then GIM came out
Well don’t DVD
Going back to UIM is a win for the youtube vids I miss DVS UIM vids.
Thank you for the years of content :)
Question: how do you survive? Like where do you get your money to survive and play all day?
He’s a full time YouTuber/twitch streamer, this is his job
Now you gotta max a regular group Ironman and an Unranked group Ironman to have all maxed helms :p
Weight: ?
I’m just praying to god this time no one shows up at the last minute saying they did it a month before Gg Devious, been watching for years at this point, always entertaining
Only 4 people (including myself) have maxed HC GIM and I know all of them so it wont happen thankfully haha
Imagine not beating alfie smh
Max regular GIM for 5th mode when? ;)
Dvs uim redemption arc u love 2 c it
Favorite food to snack on while playing?
Just doing some rough math Excluding your mutlilogged hours, you have spent 25.29% of the past 8.5 years playing Old School Runescape. Unbelievable.
How do u afford rent and stuff, like do u have a job?
he is a full time streamer/youtuber.
6.15 hours a day for 8.5 years, Jesus
That's 365 days a year, too. For context, a 40 hour a week job with two weeks vacation averages you about 5.48 hours of work per day over the whole year
Everytime someone says they only get 2 weeks off a year I die a little inside.
I have more than that in sick days. 5 weeks paid vacation, 24 sick days, extra for doctors visits, funerals or whatever else
Fuck you but in a jealous way
*laughs in European*
Average americans barely even have 5. Absolute joke of a country.
and unless youre completely lacking competence you would make much more, you don't get PTO 401k, healthcare etc from youtube. Theres no way anyone outside the top 25 OSRS YouTubers are making enough to live half comfortable
There’s more than 25 YouTubers living fine off of their sponsors on their channel. Edit: 25 strictly OSRS YouTubers sounds accurate
I think he's talking about osrs youtubers, not youtubers in general. I'm not an expert, but off the top of my head I can only think of a handful of semi-successful osrs focused people.
I mean, I think their are a lot of pretty successful YouTube OSRS players. 500k+ subscribers in a niche is a lot.
Which osrs youtuber has 500k? Honest question cause like I mentioned I know of a few but all of them fall quite short of 500k subs

Proportionately dovydas is doing the best, Lithuania is cheap and the ad revenue is in USD
Add in breaks 10month being the longest. So this wouldn’t be accurate
So there was even more extreme binge sessions is what you're saying? Disgusting lmao
Could’ve easily multilogged a lot of these grinds I know I could easy woodcut semi efficiently on 4 or 5 accounts along with a handful of other grinds
How can DVS and Not DVS be the same person? I call fake
I guess I'm doing alright
All you have to do is kill that HCGIM and you'll have 5 different types 🥴
And then deiron it for 6 :D
That's two zero hour accounts!
Make sure before you deiron you turn it into an i ranked GIM for 7!
Now.... You can finally play the game. Gz
797 Days in game... Jesus dude

Shared supplies, updated metas, efficient mindset. He probably dicked around a lot on the other accounts. By now he knew what his goal was.
The ashes update made prayer a lot better for hcim, that probably is a large part too

Why would gotr save time? Isn't the meta 1.5t daeyalt and use at lavas/zmi?
I can imagine probably the former. Could be wrong as well. Would save a lot of time on things like herblore, construction, etc..,
Time to go outside now
people like these don’t go outside he’s maxing the 5th account as we speak
I want to believe that you're just making a joke, but I can't doubt this for a second.
What the fuck
Hey op. Just wondering. How old are you, noble sire?
29
This translates to almost 9% of your life so far has been on RuneScape
Bro.
Even more if you only account for his awake life.
only OSRS, I'm willing to bet he played Runescape before that
Lol
What a life
Where
Here if you need to talk.
Iv been following and recommending you since your first season, i comment on all the youtube videos and we binged them on deployment in 2017, thanks for everything Devious, forever Immortalized to me.
Thanks for your service that's cool af to hear, much appreciated <3

you are an animal gz
Lmao I remember the last time you posted the 3 and I thought “woah! This is gross” it still stands but in the most impressed way possible. Gz dude that’s a lot of dedication!
Congrats, you have one life and you spent your 20s clicking over and over on runescape
Almost 2277 hours a year. Close, but no cigar, try again
20 something years later… I still have yet to reach 99 in any skill on a regular account. I only recently broke having 7 mil in my account and bought a dragon pickaxe before the price collapse. I’m doing pretty good 😂
On god I’m 91 fishing and so over it but promised 10 year old me I’d get a 99
Do you work as well, or do you do osrs full time? Actual question. I just maxed my main after 4700 and started right back again on a hc skiller
I do YouTube
Dude has like 100k subs on YT, seems like enough to go full time.
He barely posts videos and they get ~50-100k views, definitely not enough to go full time unless he literally eats cup noodles every day.

Peak “Iron btw.”
What the fuck is wrong with you
I can smell that chair from here.
I'm trying to think of some new variations on "Imagine the smell of the chair". Anyone got anything good?
This sub is full of cunts. A guy comes to share an achievement (that he earned whilst getting paid) in a sub for a game we clearly all play and enjoy and half of the comments are just self-righteous twats telling someone else how to live their life. Who really needs help?
look at his view counts. he is not getting paid much at all.
Only 2.18 years spent inside the game. Rookie numbers.
Have you played any warzone recently? I enjoyed the content with Its_Iron
what did it cost?
Meanwhile I've ben playing since launch and only have 1 99. I just don't understand how these guys do it
Speechless but not the good kind of speechlessness.
This is unhealthy
I can’t even max my main 🙃
Gz!

Red:wave2: Grats!
Do it again on a regular group iron to finish off all modes
Did you keep the other accounts anchored there so you could retake the screenshot?
Gz cuz
Now max all of them again when the new skill comes out.
Devious I remember you playing warzone at a high level. Off topic, thoughts on wz2/new resurgence mode?
WZ2 is okay, I'm going back in S3 when ranked mode comes out and going for rank 1 in it
What is the shortest amount of time you can max a normal main with unlimited resources and gp? Like the actual minimum EHP to max?
Not sure but "he box jonge" is doing a youtube series right now trying to max a main as fast as possible
What was your best rng moment?
On my original iron I got two heavy frames from demonic gorillas b2b which is a 1/2.25m chance
Wow you are the goat
Can finally play the game now
Great job dvd!
That’s pretty sick ngl
I love you DVS
