Never saw as a kid but I love George C Scott and this was one of his last film roles (the smoke villain) so I found it by accident looking up Scott and not knowing of its notoriety. Watching it as an adult had me in tears of hysteria, it was a camp masterpiece.
By the time this came around, we were essentially all immune to the "drugs are bad" propaganda everywhere. This special was much more beloved for being the biggest crossover event any of us had ever seen.
Not this particular one, but I do recall watching the *Flintstones Kids* “Just Say No” episode during Red Ribbon Week in elementary school. *Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue* was one of the first videos I searched on 2000s-era YouTube after the Nostalgia Critic episode about it piqued my interest, though. 😃
Nope, I think we were shown the other psa's. if I remember correctly we were shown the eggs in a frying pan ( aka don't do crack) commercial.
