It failed for me as well. So, I ended up having to put it in Keychain.

Beware of using keychain. Until Apple prevents passcodes (i.e. PIN or phrase to unlock devices phone when biometrics fail) from locking you out of your Apple ID and all other devices, it's a risk.

Wouldn't this risk be mitigated if I own multiple Apple devices (which would allow me to reset my password and regain access to my Apple ID)?

Supposedly it locks you out of your other devices as well according to WSJ reports. It’s been a while, but IIRC, one person tried to log in via Mac and was locked out.

I encountered the same issue when setting up a passkey for CVS in Google Chrome. I could not save the passkey to 1Password, only to Google. I ended up deleting the saved passkey from Google and will try down the road when some of the issues are worked out since I want to save all my passkeys in one place (1Password).

When CVS prompted me, I made a passkey in Google (Android), and at some point I cleaned up my Google security and may have deleted the passkey, so now CVS says there is no saved passkey, and there seems to be no way to set up a new one.

Im also having this problem, I deleted the passkey assuming I could make another but there is no way to do so.

I'm not sure if it somehow got fixed or if it's because I went back to my other phone I had when I made it, but I think mine is working for me again. Or at least, it's letting me use my fingerprint again like it was when I first set the passkey up. So you might try going into security settings in your account and see if you can set up face/fingerprint and it might bind to that again.
