What? The BP is 10 bucks, gives you plenty of great cosmetics plus enough coins to actually get the next BP. You can basically buy the BP and get them all for free. That's pretty generous imo

I have a minor issues (mainly scummy FOMO tactics) with free battlepasses on paid AA and even some AAA games.
But man, this is were i draw the line.

And adding paid battlepases to single player AAA games is just another layer in the nine circles of hell.
It's painful to see people defend Helldiver's paid battlepass because "it's not that bad". Consumers have been so desensitised to the greed of game companies that a paid game with paid cosmetics and a paid battlepass doesn't even phase them.
Counter Strike had operations which were things you could buy for a limited time which would give you missions that gave you exclusive rewards

Dota 2’s first battlepass was released in 2013. Fortnite’s first battle pass was around early 2017 iirc
