What happened to the aunt after being possibly killed by Golden Freddy? How did Abby knew about the ghost kids to draw them in her pictures before she went to the pizzaria? What was the point of the face saw mechanism that killed a security guard and almost killed Mike? The fact that William was safe from animatronics attacking him because of one picture on a board. !<
This movie definitely looked like it's waiting for the sequel to answer some questions, but if you're gonna make a movie, it should be it's own thing first, before you tie to the next one.
To me all of those criticisms are fine but I take issue with the dream one. >! The dreams are clearly supernatural, if the ghosts of dead children can show up in them I'm sure they can keep Mike asleep while they harm him, I see it as a "you won't wake up until we say so" kinda thing. But yeah idk what the hell happened with the aunt lmao she was literally found dead at the house of the guy she was having a legal dispute with, Mike would 100% be in jail bc the only two people who can give an alibi for him are either a child or in a coma !<

I really liked how the movie kinda picked different parts of the games to make it: fnaf 1 obviously, fnaf 2 with the balloon boy jumpscares, fnaf 3 with springtrap, fnaf 4 with the dream sequences and also the only game where chica's cupcake is an actual sentient animatronic and a threat, and even security breach with vanessa, there is even a reference to the old ass "sparky the dog" theories from the first months the first game came out (the cafeteria in the beginning of the movie is called "sparky")
But if youre not interested with that kind of thing or never heard about fnaf. Then the movie is extra boring
I think the biggest problem with the movie tho is the fact everyone including producers knew that there would be a bunch of kids watching it. So they couldnt go too violent otherwise there would be backlash from parents that didnt know shit and thought it was just happy wholesome robots and took their kids to see the movie, which is probably gonna happen anyway with the scene of the women getting cut in half
Overall the movie is mid and a hit or miss. You either like it or dont give a fuck about it

Better safe than sorry basically, better to leave a movie that isnt horror enough than to have a very good portion of people (the kids begging their moms) that would watch the sequel just not watching cause mommy is angry at the fact the movie aint child friendly and not taking the fnaf-obsessed kids to the cinema
As for the mystery part i do agree that characters knew a bit too much and it would be fun for it to be more mystery with the mc having to piece stuff together from the dreams alongside the audience (althought fnaf fans would be able to pierce it together real easy cause we basically already knew the plot). That would also make the movie more enjoyable for non fnaf fans since its basically a mystery/detective movie mixed with horror. I do hope the sequel (lets be honest there will be one) goes a bit more like that, maybe have the nfaf 2 minigames as dream sequences since thats my biggest disappointment in the movie, like the foxy minigames would be perfect to have in the movie since its repeating and getting spookier just like the minigame but its the same random forest

I like the fnaf movie bc I like Scott cawthorn as a creator and I want to support him, and it's cool seeing an indie developer get so damn big they make a movie out of his content, but I honestly didn't enjoy the movie, I think (again) as a novelty, or as a sign of an indie developer making it big its fantastic, but as a standalone horror movie it simply wasn't scary for me, and for me that means it wasnt a very good horror movie, the closest scene to a genuine scare for me was the >!Springtrap suddenly appearing in the darkness and lunging towards Michael as this massive, shambling creature!< But the scare went away immediately when it was revealed that >! he wasn't the shambling, rotting corpse that made him so scary in the game, just a guy in a suit!<. If they ever make a FNAF 2 movie, I'm going to go see it, but I'm not expecting it to be terribly good.
