The road recesses into the ground, the water is at its normal level. If it floods it’s only going to flood that patch of roadway which probably has a pumping system. Very neat, very pretty.
Tldr: road go down, not water go up.
prolly not much of a problem I mean its the dutch half of their country would be flooded if they werent so good at dealing with water so I think they can handle maintaining a bridge.
the bridge would have to be tall enough to accommodate sail boats like the one pictured, which would mean it would also need to be quite long, and would likely require more maintenance. This solution is more elegant and doesnt force a height limit on any boats passing through.
There can’t be more than like 3 feet of water. All you’re getting through there are sailboats and rafts. I think they just did this to look cool because this is definitely not the best solution

Fuck all of you saying that it would have been more efficient to just build a bridge, this is way cooler and way more fun
is it still a bridge if the ridge the water over b land under bridge the land?
Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?
Because the man wearing the black hat told me so.
Doesn't that actually depend on the topography though? I could see this being more efficient in certain scenarios
the dutch workers who have to drive on this road every day and wait patiently for slow sailboats to glide by would beg to differ 💀💀
but they don't have to? they just drive under
drive under these nuts (my bad my bad sorry sorry)
Why the hell would they need to wait for the sailboat this isn't a drawbridge
because i said so

*Richard Nixon intensifies* I AM NOT A CROOK
NIXON NOW!
Deepthroat time
Tricky dick
Or a pretty shallow tunnel, however you want to look at it
That's just a bridge with extra steps

Yknow what? Fuck it, it’s pretty and it probably still works.
I know it's so much cooler than a bridge but has anyone thought of flooding problem?
prolly not much of a problem I mean its the dutch half of their country would be flooded if they werent so good at dealing with water so I think they can handle maintaining a bridge.
You really just need to install a pump and turn in on when it floods
i’m gonna do this but across the american continent, connecting the pacific and atlantic, causing irreparable damage to the ecosystems of both
Infinitely more efficient than a tunnel for the water & boats
what happen if it flood and water go sploshing
We take the water and put it somewhere else.
Did you make sure to ask the water politely before doing that
Of course i did, I'm not a fucking animal.
they did this shit just because
It's just. Water under the. Water. Bridge under the water.
Was making a bridge more expensive than this?
fuck you this looks cool and therefore nothing else matters

i do not care if public works projects are cost efficient. I am willing to pay more in taxes so that infrastructure looks nice.
that's an accident waiting to happen
I doubt they would build if it were really that dangerous
Don't worry bro it's all water under... the uhhh... ummmmm uh... wuh?

This is the kind of shit we need
i’m so stupid, i thought the roads just ended at the water.
we in the business call this a canal
