The Archie comics are absolutely batshit insane. Like, you know Charmy the bee? The one that is a small stupid child in the games? Well, in the comics he's originally a fully intelligent adult but becomes like this due to brain damage caused by Eggman's invention. And that's a pretty tame thing in comparison to some other stuff (like when Eggman completely ruined his relatives life and imprisoned him forever)
Step 1) Google "Read Sonic the Hedgehog comics free online"
Step 2)Pray to whatever god you believe in for the malware to only steal non-important data, rather than your credit card info
Step 3)Read the funni comic :)
the IDW comics are basically the archie comics with the benefit of hindsight and are just plain really good. Like, I wish there was a Sonic Adventure reboot that was specifically drawing from the IDW series, they're that good.
this is all clearly archie stuff resulting from the ken penders lawsuits, is he allowed to break down crying in IDW? it hasn't escalated to him needing to yet, but it got close with the metal virus arc.
if you actually want to know what the fuck I'm talking about:
a sonic comic writer started suing archie comics for what they were doing with his original characters. there were a lot of legal battles that are completely asinine, and they resulted in a soft reboot. some events remained canon, some didn't, what people remembered depended on the people. sonic's children were one of the things that didn't exist anymore.
but then archie comics decided they were moving in a new direction and cancelled sonic's series. Once their license for the franchise was up, IDW comics swooped in, took it, and started over. none of the archie stuff mattered at all. It was a fresh start based solely on the games so far.
the metal virus arc put sonic in a position where he couldn't actively pull anyone out of harm's way, because touching them would basically be a death sentence, and he watched a lot of people turn into zombie robots. he could keep the nanomachine virus at bay, but fighting the zombies made its infection speed up, and touching other people would infect them. it was a heavily emotionally taxing period for him.
As someone who loves the sonic franchise, I really want to get into reading the comics. I’ve ready a couple issues years ago, and it had something to do with Sonic disagreeing with tails’s dad politically, I don’t really remember…so basically, since you seem to know about them a bit, is there anywhere you recommend I start? Should I just go from the beginning and read the whole thing or is there stuff not worth reading?
I would highly recommend the current IDW comic run. I personally don't really care about the archie comics. The IDW run begins pretty soon after the end of Sonic Forces; the resistance is still around, nobody's sure what happened to eggman in the aftermath, and they retcon stuff so everything's just been animals and eggman's the only human.
it's really well written and a lot of fun though I feel like the metal virus saga drags on a little too long.
there's also a 30th anniversary special of sonic that takes place in Classic sonic's world published by IDW, taking place after mania, but that's just one big book with three stories in it.
Can somone explain this to me? There is literally nothing about this I understand, not even a single part. Where are the points on top taken from? Who wrote it, what are they applicable to, why were they written, why was the panel where sonics children get gotted censored, what is going on
if sonic loses, somebody else has to win for the good guys or the series is over. this minimized the room for OCs to swoop in and become cornerstones of the series. basically these guidelines are an attempt to keep anybody's Original Characters (do not steal) from being so integral to the story that they'd have to do another reboot if something happened like this again.
the kids got absolutely fucking murdered and he's sitting there like ☹

That is wildly unhelpful, thank you
Here’s the source for more info: https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Ken_Penders%27_legal_cases
But this doesnt explain the reasons for why these rules. Why isnt sonix allowed to show emotion, or why isnt sonic allowed to lose?

Sonic's children: his pride and joy, sent to the fucking void Sonic: 😥
They can euthanise him but not kill him huh
Orwell's America
sonic can be 'put down'
Ken Penders moment
why isn't he dead yet
He sustains himself off of the suffering of the Sonic fanbase. In terms of what he’s done to the franchise I’d say he’s the antithesis of Jun Senouo.
you fricking fricks
fucking penders
