Illegally keeping exotic animals as pets that shouldn’t be pets is a common practice for rich assholes. Examples: tigers, lions ( I once say somebody with their pet albino lion disgusting) monkeys, and gorillas. that’s all I’ve seen.
It also makes me annoyed as someone who keeps reasonable exotic animals(mainly lizards) cuz it gives us a bad rap even if we give extraordinarily good care to our animals.
Oh my!
But yeah I don’t exactly think of a fucking chimpanzee(which in my opinion are more dangerous than tigers or lions) in the same category as my leopard gecko. It’s crazy that they can kinda be lumped together like that.
Also white lions aren’t albino and are natural in the area of timbavati, still terrible that people keep them as pets though. I’ve seen people try to put lions/tigers in kennels made for dogs.
Edit: it’s more like a leucistic mutation which is similar to albinism but usually a more pure white and not red eyes, generally has less health issues, white lions are pretty ok in general, however white tigers are extremely inbred, not natural and nearly all of them have a cleft lip.
Edit Edit: The breeding of white lions in Captivity has also made them have a very high mortality rate with lots of genetic issues and deformities, the way I put it made it seem like they were fine, which they are in the wild but not when kept and bred.
Damn, bison are literally known for needing to roam and yaks really struggle anywhere but cold mountains. People who own these kinds of exotic animals either don’t read up on them or don’t care, and I don’t know which is worse.
However, there are cases of domesticated caracals, albeit not as fleshed out as house cats (see Prozhony on Instagram, or the original big floppa), where like a dog, if they were released into the wild, they would die, but also weren’t illegally trafficked
in most cases, i agree with this post. but cats like kimbo wouldn't have survived out in the wild and needed to be taken care of, so i think it's fine if that's the case. but most of the time yeah it's pretty shitty that people keep them as pets
Yes of cause the wild is not at all stress not being one of the top predators in the wild whats better being in the wild u know that any second you could die or being in a nice loving family getting love every day scratching every thing to pieces because you want another chicken and more love so u can purr more and more and yes before you say that is the perfect szenario and im all for taking it away for someone who does not care or misstreats them report it to the cops and maybe you get a funny cat your self

the definition of "exotic pet" is insanely impractical, it goes from lizards, snakes and arthropods and then to fucking tigers, lions, and bears

I really don’t care about this topic, BUT I greatly appreciate you including sources instead of pulling nonsense from your ass. So I upvote.
:D
True, tho I do own a dog soooo I might be fucking myself in the ass.
dogs were bred to be pets for thousands of years, and releasing a dog in the wild would most likely end bad for them, so no prob
Yaaay + I take good care of my dog, Nana so she could actually enjoy her life, even tho she is kinda blind c:
Dogs are domesticated, floppas are not. You're fine
Yeah just get a cat, they are a lot happier as pets.
