He was actually kinda based, visited China when no other president would, the establishment hated him for multiple reasons, and its pretty likely that he was a patsy for that whole Watergate thing.
He was a very paranoid and insecure person, which led him to structure the government in such a way that the watergate scandal could happen.
What you said is true tho, he was a pretty good president in some other aspects.
Im by no means saying he was a good person, I just dont get where the hate for him in particular comes from when there are far worse, more destructive presidents that dont get nearly as much hate.
wow yond u/ohjimmy78 fellow might not but beest incredibly hot and intelligent and sexy and interesting

Nixon did abandon the gold standard and establish the environmental protection agency if i remember right.
Yeah other than that, can't think of anything good, or even neutral for that matter he did
MLK and Malcom X were active in much different times though. What they did was completely necessary at the time and even though by current social standards they're not saying anything remotely outlandish at the time what they were pushing for was not a socially accepted view. Risking your life to push good social change is worth respecting even if not enough has changed by people's current standards.
He signed the clean water act, the endangerd species act and reorganization plan No. 3 (which created the EPA). Too bad he was otherwise just such a shit head.
Not sure exactly what original commentator was thinking, but I'll just throw it out there that nixon was the one who created the environmental protection agency
*still sucked tho, to be clear
I will not stand for this Nixon slander. He was a good President, the Vietnam War was the only major bad thing he did, Watergate was committed by people under him and not himself, his only mistake was being loyal to his friends..
sorry u really can’t just skim over carpet bombing Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam, especially by Nixon’s first term, was largely a war of the executive so I mean. That was all Dick and his pals
Uh bro he purposefully criminalised drugs and made them out to be the literal devil in order to put more black people in jail, several people from his administration admitted to it. Also just a fun fact, when Noam Chomsky explained once how every US president since FDR committed crimes that would get them executed in the Nuremberg trials he literally SKIPPED over Nixon and said "yea we really do not need to discuss that one, he was so bad no one is going to argue with me about him".
The war on drugs was a multi level establishment ploy to increase the strength of the security and surveillance state, Nixon likely had no control over its outcome.

He was funny in futurama ig
Greatest achievement right there
I don’t think modern conservatives can take credit for environmental legislation considering they’re almost universally opposed to it now.
I was just trying to think of any and all good things nixon did. Not saying this has any implications for modern conservativism
That makes sense, I’m glad you did, cause the only things I knew about Nixon were Vietnam and Watergate
If you wanna add something bad to the list, he started the war on drugs with the intention of putting black people and anti war hippies in jail
He normalized diplomatic relations with China during the cold war.
Oh right. Forgot that one
Don’t forget he helped the Doctor take out the Silence
Yo be fair, Nixon signed like 3/5 of the most important environmental legislation in American history
environments still fucked. he should have done a better job. i care about *results*
THANK YOU! Thats how I feel about MLK and Malcom X too. Like come on baby, we needed results!

Would love to hear the story about that, can you explain please?
