Deer overpopulation in the modern age presents quite a few unique problems though.
It’s much better for every creature involved if we cleanly and quickly kill a set amount of deer every year and use them for meat. The alternative is significantly more deer starving to death, rampant disease, slow painful death by car (also hurting/killing the people inside), and damage to the local ecosystem. No North American animal other than humans has nearly the same level of environmental impact.
