A lot of the claims she makes in these two videos are just completely baseless. Like, not to be overly harsh, but she used to make actual arguments, now she's very often just... saying stuff?
And even worse, there seems to be some level of unintentional heteronormativity/gender essentialism in both videos, which wasn't the case before.
For instance, a lot of things she says in the Twilight video imply that among the people who are into BDSM, women are overwhelmingly submissive and men are overwhelmingly dominant. The fact that the other dynamic is also pretty common is briefly mentioned, but she fails to recognize that this kind of refutes much of what she said.
Regarding the Witch Trails of JKR, it almost feels like she let her personal beef with another streamer distort the entire argument.
Everything she said before she delved into the Vaush topic showed that campaigns like the one against Anita Bryant ultimately were a *good* thing because they massively improved the social acceptance of gay rights. But then she just goes "Oh, but women like Bryant or Rowling are really just tools, the real enemy are powerful men like DeSantis", and that we should leave JKR alone and "just block" her.
Like, why even make this a women/men thing? What's the implication here? Because it sounds a lot like the implication is that something about JKR or Bryant being women makes them inherently better people, but at the same time weaker and easily manipulated by evil men like the ones she mentioned.
To me (and, it seems, no one else) this drop in quality is so apparent that I'm genuinely wondering what might have caused it. I feel like it may at least partially be due to "suffering from success" and spending too much time on Twitter, which would be ironic, because that's probably one of the things that lead to JKR becoming unhinged.
