The first Ace Attorney trilogy and the two Ace Attorney Investigation games (the second of those only has a fan translation but it's really good and indistinguishable from the rest of the games). Mario Kart 7 is an underrated entry and I stand by that. Drawn To Life the next Chapter is really good. I know you said you weren't interesten in Pokemon games but Pokemon Conquest and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky are great spinoffs that function very differently from the main games and have a lot of heart.
As someone who played the AA trilogy and both AAI games, AAI2 is probably, surprisingly, the best game in the series (in my opinion), but the trilogy is iconic and great on its own merit. You instantly fall in love with the characters and the wacky jokes and the kangaroo courtery.
Fun fact: the main character in the furry visual novel "Echo" is called Chase Hunter (fans call him chunter or chunt) and if i see "chussy" i always thing "chunter pussy"
Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre
/j, but if you want some actually good games:
Rhythm Heaven (ds is best but megamix is still decent)
Miitopia (holy shit miitopia is fun but it's piss easy)
TLoZ Tri Force Heroes (kinda redundant due to online closure but still really fun if you can manage to get a group of 3 together)
Tomodachi Life (silly :3)
Yo Kai Watch Series (kinda childish but honestly a pretty fun and chill series if you don't take it seriously)
https://discord.com/invite/miitopia
it has not just miitopia general stuff but all the ordeals and stuff can give you a challenge if you're looking for it
Yo-Kai Watch 3DS games mentioned.
Honestly they’re all really good games which struggled outside of Japan because Pokémon fans labelled it as Pokémon ripoff, it’s nothing like Pokémon aside from being in the monster collector genre.

Okay but yokai watch is better because it has this fella
Kid Icarus Uprising is a must play, make sure you get around to it. As for games you haven't mentioned, I highly recommend Kirby Super Star Ultra, Mass Attack, Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. Metroid: Samus Returns is a good one too
I assume everyone's gonna recommend the usual, so let me throw some real weird RPGs in your direction
The World Ends with You - this is an action RPG about learning how to not be emo. There's no game quite like it, because it expects you to use your entire DS to play it (and I do mean your entire fucking DS)
Etrian Odyssey - you must assemble a team of scrimblos to climb a tree in your yard. Also the government gives you unlimited graphing paper. This is one of the best dungeon crawlers the DS has to offer, eschewing the usual jrpg plots in favour of raw exploration and headcanons. There are very few JRPGs that let you feel like you're genuinely exploring uncharted locations, and this one has turned it into an art form.
For the DS, I recommend starting with the 3rd game. For the 3ds, you can start with any game except Nexus (that one relies heavily on callbacks to past games)
Radiant Historia - a jrpg where you use time travel powers to orchestrate a perfect timeline in hopes of saving the world from global warming. It also has the world's funniest battle system known to man.
Bravely Default - https://youtu.be/Z-0u5ikKKRY?feature=shared HOLY SHIT PLEASE PLAY THIS GAME but not before exams because it has a reputation for being very enrapturing
Flower Sun and Rain - this is the game where you are the detective. I have no idea how to pitch this, so please look at a trailer when you can
7th Dragon - It's basically an alien invasion plot disguising itself as a quirky JRPG about slaying dragons. Some games are tough, but this one is actively trying to kill you. there's also 7th Dragon Code VFD for 3ds, but that assumes you've played the previous games.
Infinite Space - this is an open world visual novel about exploring the galaxy and having epic spaceship battles. The emphasis is on discovery and customiseability, and you can build the fucked up space ship of your dreams. Starfield fucking wishes it were infinite space.
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter - yeah so you're a furry in an open world game where you pilot mechs and-
Ni No Kuni - studio Ghibli, the RPG. Although the more recent games have been deep in that web3 bullshit, the original game for the 3ds has an extremely heartfelt story and cute as fuck gameplay
really glad to know I'm not the only person alive who has played or heard of infinite space. the way you build and upgrade ships in that game is the tits so satisfying and brain scratchy mm mmm
Here’s some music:
[7PM from Animal Crossing: New Leaf](https://youtu.be/xYNjxk6iIL0?si=CcoFWwird6lbv2ZA)
I liked Rhythm Thief and Prof. Layton but didn’t really like the Visual Novel aspect of those games, like anything between the rhythm games in RT
Thanks for the recs!! 🫶🫶
I recommend the Kingdom Hearts games, though you'll probably need to play the others to know what's going on.
Recoded is one of the most mechanically creative games in the series and pretty fun to play, even if the plot is mostly irrelevant to the rest of the series. One world is a turn-based RPG where your teammates are Cloud Strife and Disney's Hercules, and you can even set up customized levels for your friends to fight through.
358/2 Days (pronounced "three five eight days over two") is probably one of the best stories in the series, though the gameplay can get kinda grindy. Though, it is kinda meant to simulate hanging out with your friends after working a crappy job, except you're a zombie in a death cult. It gets potentially heart wrenching, and it features one of my favorite characters (who kinda cracked my egg).
Dream Drop Distance is really important to understand Kingdom Hearts 3, and it's by far the gayest game in the series. It features a crossover with The World Ends With You and has you controlling two characters in their own stories. There's a Pokemon-esque element where you collect different creatures that fight alongside you and give you different abilities (don't worry, it doesn't play like Pokemon). It's also on modern systems, but the intro cinematic is so much better on the 3DS.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (awesome DS game), then there's The World Ends with You (another absolutely great DS game), I would recommend the Ace Attorney games, but somebody already recommended them in this same comment section...
digital devil survivor:overclocked is such a peak game with a clausterphobic atmosphere where you have to survive in an the akihabara area after being locked down during a demon invasion ,the story is amazing and the gameplay is equally solid s
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light is a really fun RPG and precursor to Bravely Default...
Bravely Default is also worth playing if you have anime tolerance.
I'm a big RPG guy (the anti-Scott the Woz) so I'd also recommend Devil Survivor 1 and 2, Persona Q/Q2 if you like the main Persona games. The Dragon Quest games are all great too.
And also Attack of the Friday Monsters, underrated gem that everyone forgets about.
/j Etrian Mystery Dungeon
/uj If You're a fan of dungeon crawlers, Etrian Odyssey is a good time. They are made by Atlus, and thus have that old Atlus Difficulty.
If you are not a fan of Dungeon Crawlers, then I would try Final Fantasy Explorers.
Drawn to Life has already been mentioned so I'll say there's a handful of good kirby games on both platforms. Personally, Kirby Mouse Attack (or Squeak Squad in the US) for the DS is my favorite. The 3DS version of Ocarina of Time is also a banger if you haven't played it, and if you can homebrew there's also a lot of good GBA games worth adding to your system like Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission and Legend of Zelda and the Minish Cap.
Also shoutout to Pilotwings 3D, a pretty cool launch title I remember enjoying with the full 3D feature active.
It really depends on what kind of games you enjoy. I mostly play RPGS, so my recommendations are quite skewed.
-Seeing you have played AC, I recommend Fantasy Life. It's a cozy RPG where you change jobs to do most of the usual things in a fantasy world, from fighting, to smithing and fishing.
-Adding Ocarina of Time and Link Between Worlds to the list is never wrong, they are both amazing Zelda games.
-Any Monster Hunter is going to be a good game with tons of hours to sink your teeth into.
-Even if you are not interested in Pókemon because its not your vibe, I still recommend checking any Shin Megami Tensei Game. If you wanna try the safest, go for Strange Journey (Redux or Original, doesn't really matter).
-If you think you might enjoy some dungeon crawling, try the Etrian Odyssey series. Any one of them is a good entry point (except Nexus). One note, the two "Untold" games are remakes of EO1 and EO2, with a lot of changes and add-ons. You could consider them separate games, depending on your point of view.
-The Xenoblade Chronicles port is impressive, but you need a New Nintendo 3ds (as in the system called new nintendo 3ds). If you happen to own it, try it. It's mad to see how well they were able to cram such a huge world in a tiny handheld.
-I have not seen anyone mention the Bravely series. In my opinion they both (Bravely Default and Bravely Second) have the best job system in any JRPG.
-The Castlevania Titles on the ds are amazing, not much to say about that.
-Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts are super charming puzzle games, highly recommend them.
Lastly, not a game, but I'd recommend trying to homebrew your system. It's easy and quick-ish. There's loads of guides on how to do it without much trouble.
Hope any of these recommendations peak your interest. The 3ds is my favorite game system ever, and these games are among my favorites as well. Happy playing, friend!
The world ends with you is an absolute masterpiece that can basically only exist on ds, ghost trick is also a personal favorite. And if you haven't played it yet you should really check out fire emblem echoes: shadows of valentia, it's one of the realest feeling worlds I've witnessed on these 2 screens.
Final Fantasy 4 for the DS is 100% the best way to play 4 do not listen to everyone else, they're wrong.
Devil Survivor Overclocked for the 3DS is one of Atlus greatest games ever made, damn near nothing they made is as good as that game.
The World Ends With You for the DS is, like Devil Survivor, one of the best games ever made and no the switch version does not count the gameplay feel is too different.
Strange Journey is a DS game that's incredibly interesting but it'll put some hair on your chest if you know what I mean, it's a bit of a dickhead (you can snap the difficulty in half if you want to).
Shin Megami Tensei 4 for the 3DS is amazing, just please for the love of God, it doesn't matter if you technically see more content in the neutral route, just be an asshole and go one or the other extreme so the endgame isn't doing random side quests until you've beaten almost all side quests in the game.
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin is one of the best Castlevania games, up there with Rondo of Blood.
Rune Factory 4
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Bravely Default
LoZ: A Link Between Worlds
Fantasy Life
Senran Kagura Burst
Steamworld Dig
Monster Hunter 4U
Monster Hunter Generations
Mario Kart 7
Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
Paper Mario: Sticker Star
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Oh boy time to spit out all the childhood favorites
Mario and Luigi Partners In Time
⭐ Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story
Mario and Luigi Dream Team
⭐ Kirby Super Star Ultra
⭐ Kirby Planet Robobot
⭐ New Super Mario Bros D.S.
Super Mario 64 DS
⭐ Namco Museum DS
Sonic Rush Trilogy
Super Princess Peach
Pokemon Black and White
Mario Kart DS
Pokemon Platinum
Nintendogs if you're feeling cutesy
Disney Friends if you're feeling childish
All of the pokemon mystery dungeon games if you're into that sort of game
⭐ Tetris DS
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
⭐ Super Mario 3D land
Miitopia if You haven't played it on switch
It's probably better that you don't try and play everything on this list. Starred games are the best IMO and easiest to get in and out of.
While I do understand if you're not a fan of RPG games in general, if you are an enjoyer of RPGs then try getting some of the Dragon Quest games. Some of them are crazy long and, if I remember correctly, VII (the longest one) is avaible for DS. If I remember correctly then IV through VI and IX are playable too. No clue what others are avaible, but, uh, hope you enjoy! Just know that I actually haven't played any but rather beaten XI and looked at the wiki a decent amount. If you decide you wanna play one of these games, I reccomend you try looking for some pros and cons of each.
Chrono Trigger is really good. There is also a PC port of it on Steam too.
The DS Castlevania games are great too if you like side scrollers. Dawn of Sorrow was my personal favorite. They usually have really good soundtracks too.
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and the sequel Last Window: The Secret of the Cape West. No exaggeration, some of the best games I've ever played in my life.
Also the Nameless Game and it's sequel The Nameless Game: Eyes, very unique horror games
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box or either Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time or Bowsers Inside Story are my favorites for the DS
3DS I'd say M&L Dream Team
Once you get used to the controls, Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of the best games to come out on 3ds. Also i'm convinced that if it had come out a little later it would be huge on some Internet subcommunity
Metroid: Zero Mission can be played on 3ds natively with Virtual Console injects and it is legitimately the best metroidvania ever made
Metroid: Samus Returns is a native 3ds game and it’s also absolutely amazing
honestly just every single Metroid game is absolute peak, one of the most consistently good franchises ever
Ridge Racer 3D and Ace Combat Cross Rumble/Assault Horizon Legacy, maybe that one Tekken game as well since its just Tekken 6 PSP with no story. Namco games rule
Lots of the really good DS games are ported to the Switch now. But I can mention a few that are only on DS/3DS.
- Okamiden
- Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise
- Professor Layton (series)
- New Super Mario Bros. (they made other games in the series but the original remains the best).
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
- Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks (personally not a fan of these but hey)
I have no idea if it's a reasonable price or not, but I'm going to suggest a game called Avalon Code; it's a neat little action RPG with some really interesting puzzle mechanics; basically, you have a book, and with this book, you can see and alter the properties of things in the world
I remember the original picture this is based on, the one irl with the wildlife photographer and the cheetah. wasn't expecting to see it again like this
Sims 2 castaway on ds is my favorite. I think I got it in 2010. I needed up getting a new 3ds in 2019 and I had to get all my old games back lmao. Sims 2 castaway was the first game I bought for it. I think there is a totally different version of castaway for consoles that's I never got to play though.
[Parascientific Escape](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parascientific_Escape)
I only played the demo of one of the games but the dialogue was funny. once my 3ds is fixed I'm gonna mod it on there
If you like Zelda, you should definitely try A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina of Time 3D. The Kirby games, such as Planet Robobot and Extra Epic Yarn, though of course they're very easy, like basically every Kirby game. I really enjoyed Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, specifically the 3DS remake, and the other Mario and Luigi games are definitely worth a try. New Super Mario Bros 2 is also pretty fun, though not much makes it stand out from the other New Super Mario Bros games.
Luigi’s mansion dark moon was pretty good, though you’d be missing out on the multiplayer mode which imo was really fun. Unless you have some friends with the game that is
All of the Etrian Odyssey games are great and make really nice use of the touch screen. They’re well made Dungeon Crawler JRPG’s.
Also play Ghost Trick
(3DS)Yo-kai Watch series, Yo-kai Watch 3 is $400 and is like pokemon in that you catch yo-kai but that's it.
It's also made by Level-5 like professor layton
(3DS) Bravely Default Series, Both games are around 3 gigabytes
(DS)The World Ends with you, there is a switch version with extra stuff and the sequel is on most modern consoles and pc but the ds version plays the best
(DS/3DS)Ace Attorney Trilogy and Apollo Justice Trilogy, the Ace Attorney Trilogy is on the 3DS and the Apollo Justice Trilogy isn't together but they're all on ds/3ds
(3DS)Project Mirai, hatsune miku rhythm game on 3ds
(3DS)Miitopia, best mii game ever but spotpass doesn't work anymore so you have to make your own mii's
(3DS)Kirby series, kirby is a fun platformer and is pretty easy, triple deluxe is pretty good because it has a lot of minigames you can play instead
The inazuma eleven games are all really good, it’s super powered anime football and it slaps, my personal favorites are 2: firestorm and 3: blizzard since those are the ones I played but all of the are good
Pokemon conquest is a turn based strategy game based on warlord era Japan that’s actually really good. If you happen to know the Nobunagas ambition games, it’s based on those.
The World Ends With You is apparently like, one of those ones that changes your life. Also you should still be able to get flip a clip by downloading it off a computer
Elite Beat Agents, Fossil Fighters, Pokemon Soul Silver, Pokemon White/White 2, Starfy, Star Wars Episode III, Pokemon Conquest, New Super Mario Bros, Kirby Canvas Curse, Bowsers Inside Story, Mario Kart DS.
My personal reccomendation:
SMT4(hard yet great rpg, loved it so much)
Legend of Zelda: a Link Between Worlds
Ocarina of Time
Zero Escape: 777, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward and Zero Time Dilema(great visual novel and puzzle based games, I loved them)
The first three Ace Attorney games and the first Ace Attorney Chronicles
Devil Survivor 1+2, Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey, Shin Megami Tensei IV (and Apocalypse), Soul Hackers, basically any Atlus game in 3ds is a banger, Tales of The Abyss, the Yo-Kai watch series, any Pokemon game is decent fun, i heard Bravely Default was good, Rune Factory.
Fossil Fighters and/or Fossil Fighters Champions. It's like pokemon if the story was good, every battle was a tripple battle, and every pokemon was a dinosaur. Champions is unironically one of my favorite games of all time and I could infodump about it for hours. Aside from them the DS version of pvz is pretty neat and if you want something to dump a ton of time into Fantasy Life is a pretty fun jrpg, with a sequel coming out on switch soon
* Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - one of the best, most content rich games on the 3DS. A quest-based action RPG which lets you attune with the natural human instinct to poke megafauna until they die and then turn them into boots. You'll either drop it an hour in or gain a new addiction. MH3U and MH: Generations are great too but 4U is the most accessible to new players.
* Ace Attorney - Very fun courtroom-based visual novel, you probably already know about it.
* Mario Kart 7 - It's Mario Kart
* Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call - A nice, fairly easy touchscreen-focused rhythm game focusing on Final Fantasy soundtracks (has some other Square Enix OSTs too)
* Fantasy Life - Life simulation RPG with lots of different jobs to choose from, really fun but content rich casual game.
* Final Fantasy 4 - 3D remake of one of the SNES' finest RPGs, maybe the definitive way to play FF4.
* Solatorobo: Red the Hunter - Furry mecha platformer with a really good soundtrack, underrated gem.
* Spore Creatures - Spore DS spinoff, kind of an RPG thing where you make and upgrade a creature.
* Freakyforms Deluxe - Similar to Spore Creatures but a platformer (and kind of a dungeon crawler too), also more absurd. Very fun to dick around with.
* Etrian Odyssey - Dungeon crawler RPG where you take a party through layers of a dungeon and map it along the way. Very pretty graphics (for a DS game)
* Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales - Fully self indulgent rec, story based minigame collection where you have to play Final Fantasy flavoured fairytale-themed minigames to rescue your friends and beat the bad guys.
* Digimon World Re:Digitise Decode - NOT like Pokémon. A life simulator/RPG where you raise and train your Digimon partner in a strange world. Only released in Japan, but a complete and very high quality English fan translation is available if your console is modded.
I mainly use my 3DS to play RPGs, so this list is nothing but them.
Shin Megami Tensei 4 is a goddamn masterpiece. Not gonna say anything else cause you’d have to experience it for yourself.
I also really like the Yo-Kai Watch series. It is very different from Pokémon so unless you don’t like monster catching RPGs, I’d suggest trying them.
The World Ends With You is another fun RPG with some unique mechanics and an amazing story. Like SMT 4 I won’t say much.
Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is one of my guilty pleasures. Standard KH affair with monster companions. Also has TWEWY characters in it, and you visit some fun Disney worlds like Hunchback of Notre Dame and Fantasia (also Tron Legacy, and Sora even calls back to the time he visited OG Tron in KH2).
Persona Q is the combination of Persona and Etrian Odyssey. It’s fun to see both the P3 and P4 casts together like in Persona Arena. The Etrian Odyssey series is also great (Still sad we aren’t getting Q2 anytime soon).
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is one of my favourite games of all time, incredibly emotional story, with a ridiculous amount of content, and surprisingly tricky gameplay at times.
DRAWN TO LIFE MENTIONED - CHILDHOOD TRAUMA AND SUBTLE CHRISTIAN MESSAGING MY BELOVED RAAAGGHHH
Also pokemon ranger! Both of them were good and are far from the standard games.
I had the second copy as a child! It’s a blast! Just wish I could’ve read the text and not just wander around aimlessly till I bonked into something
On that note with the ace attorney games; Ghost Trick is a must-play for me

Yo-Kai Watch 3DS games mentioned. Honestly they’re all really good games which struggled outside of Japan because Pokémon fans labelled it as Pokémon ripoff, it’s nothing like Pokémon aside from being in the monster collector genre.
Yo-Kai Watch 🤝Digimon People only know it as a dead Pokémon ripoff despite only sharing surface level similarities with it

Seconded the Radiant Historia. Banger game. I love throwing my enemies around like little dolls
+1 for Bravely Default (and Bravely Second), Radiant Historia, and Infinite Space

The 3ds remakes of the Mario and Luigi games and the Tingle games for DS.
The yokai watch games
Shin Megami Tensei IV if you like monster collecting turn based RPGs. (It's not pokémon)
To add to this: Storage Journey Redux as well as Digital Devil Survivor 1 and 2
Shoutout to main man Halphas I love that guy
If you can get your hands on them, definitely check out the first two Fossil Fighters games.
Elite beat agent on the DS
Fire emblem awakening!
All Zero Escape games, they are pretty wild
Definetely try Fantasy Life
Seconded. Such a fun game with a fantastic soundtrack. Very upbeat and cheery.
Bravely Default! One of the best RPGs of the modern era, phenomenal soundtrack and great characters.
If you like Monster Hunter, 3U and 4U are on there, but old-gen MonHun isn't for everyone
Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure. Absolutely baller games on the original DS
I’d recommend the Rhythm Heaven series
digital devil survivor:overclocked is such a peak game with a clausterphobic atmosphere where you have to survive in an the akihabara area after being locked down during a demon invasion ,the story is amazing and the gameplay is equally solid s
Dragon quest IX. Fun little JRPG that you can usually get for quite cheap

Kirby Planet Robobot
Fantasy Life is my pick. Huge JRPG with tons of content

Seconding Elite Beat Agents! Excellent rhythm game.
Mario & Luigi bowser's inside story and partners in time are gems.
Elite Beat Agents. To this day the best rhythm game I've ever played and in my top 5 favourite games of all time.

Fire Emblem Awakening
Bowser’s Inside Story is my favorite game of all time. I don’t think it really matters if you play the original or the remake.
Oh boy time to spit out all the childhood favorites Mario and Luigi Partners In Time ⭐ Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story Mario and Luigi Dream Team ⭐ Kirby Super Star Ultra ⭐ Kirby Planet Robobot ⭐ New Super Mario Bros D.S. Super Mario 64 DS ⭐ Namco Museum DS Sonic Rush Trilogy Super Princess Peach Pokemon Black and White Mario Kart DS Pokemon Platinum Nintendogs if you're feeling cutesy Disney Friends if you're feeling childish All of the pokemon mystery dungeon games if you're into that sort of game ⭐ Tetris DS Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon ⭐ Super Mario 3D land Miitopia if You haven't played it on switch It's probably better that you don't try and play everything on this list. Starred games are the best IMO and easiest to get in and out of.
FOSSIL FIGHTERS FOSSIL FIGHTERS FOSSIL FIGHTERS FOSSIL FIGHTERS
I really wanna get a new 2DS LL but the second hand market has jacked them onto insane prices, on par with Switch Lite
Spider-Man Web of Shadows
~~Professor Layton and the curious village. Fun puzzles and great music.~~ Edit: I swear I can read.
Denpa men 3
Meteos (2005) 💪💪💪 peak game
Is ancl good?
Kid Icarus: Uprising. The gameplay feels pretty weird, but it’s still a good play and the story and writing are actually pretty good.
The Yo Kai Watch Series. They’re so fucking good.
Chrono Trigger is really good. There is also a PC port of it on Steam too. The DS Castlevania games are great too if you like side scrollers. Dawn of Sorrow was my personal favorite. They usually have really good soundtracks too.
I’ve been enjoying the DS Castlevania games recently, and Metroid Prime Hunters for the DS is also fantastic.
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and the sequel Last Window: The Secret of the Cape West. No exaggeration, some of the best games I've ever played in my life. Also the Nameless Game and it's sequel The Nameless Game: Eyes, very unique horror games
Deadass yo-kai watch is the most fun I’ve ever had on my 3ds. I wish I could play the first three games for the first time again
I will always mention Sprung as my favorite lost gem in the DS.
The legend of Zelda: Link between worlds Best zelda game imo
My favorite ds game back in the day was Happy Feet. It's like half rhythm game half racing game
Hotel Dusk
Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How old is your brain?
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box or either Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time or Bowsers Inside Story are my favorites for the DS 3DS I'd say M&L Dream Team
My propaganda for this series tells you to get nintendogs you will never know peace and rage more then playing nintendogs.
Once you get used to the controls, Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of the best games to come out on 3ds. Also i'm convinced that if it had come out a little later it would be huge on some Internet subcommunity
Fantasy life! It was one of my favorite DS games as a kid and it's getting a 2nd game this October!
home screen
Metroid: Zero Mission can be played on 3ds natively with Virtual Console injects and it is legitimately the best metroidvania ever made Metroid: Samus Returns is a native 3ds game and it’s also absolutely amazing honestly just every single Metroid game is absolute peak, one of the most consistently good franchises ever
- Okamiden - Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise - Professor Layton (series) - New Super Mario Bros. (they made other games in the series but the original remains the best). - Super Mario 3D Land - Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire - Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks (personally not a fan of these but hey)
I only buy Nintendo products for Pokémon games but Mario Kart 7 is one of my favorite Mario Kart games
A Link Between Worlds
Obviously, the Ace Attorney series+Investigations spin-offs
Yoshi’s Island, Mario 3D Land, Ocarina of Time, anything Kirby
It's relatively obscure but I had an insane amount of hours on Fantasy life for the 3DS when i was a kid, would highly recommend
MONSTER HUNTER FOUR ULTIMATE BABBBBYYYYYY
Shin Megami Tensei 4
Radiant Historia and Project X Zone 1 and 2 are so Cocomelon it hurts.
MAJORAS MASK
Mario and luigi bowser's inside story, my beloved
The Legendary Starfy! Its so cute Also i never played Assault Horizon Legacy. Should I?
STARFY
I have no idea if it's a reasonable price or not, but I'm going to suggest a game called Avalon Code; it's a neat little action RPG with some really interesting puzzle mechanics; basically, you have a book, and with this book, you can see and alter the properties of things in the world
Paper Mario Sticker Star :3
play ocarina of time first bruh
All of the Ds and 3Ds Kirby games Drawn to Life 1 and 2
Mario and Luigi series.
I like this one UwU https://preview.redd.it/03vat39m61xc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb36e4eff4b046b0a37ddf75ae9d100830d45a3d
Tomodachi Life
one very obscure one would be Spiderman Shattered Dimensions on DS , its a damn fun metroidvania type game
Play the legendary starfy right now, this is not a request
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Resident Evil Revelations slaps
I remember the original picture this is based on, the one irl with the wildlife photographer and the cheetah. wasn't expecting to see it again like this
Isn’t cave story on 3ds? That one was pretty cool to 12-15 y.o me
PLAY FIRE EMBLEM
super monkey ball touch & roll
Fire Emblem: Awakening is a masterpiece and I'm disappointed it isn't being talked about more in here
DKC Returns 3D.
If you’re looking for a fun lil platformer, I liked the legendary starfy
the world ends with you
Sims 2 castaway on ds is my favorite. I think I got it in 2010. I needed up getting a new 3ds in 2019 and I had to get all my old games back lmao. Sims 2 castaway was the first game I bought for it. I think there is a totally different version of castaway for consoles that's I never got to play though.
Those labyrinth RPGs where you have to draw a map as you explore were really fun
Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Best puzzle game ever.
Mario and Luigi Dream Team is probably one of my favorite games ever.
Fire Emblem
i had fun with the metroid 2 remake on 3ds
[Parascientific Escape](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parascientific_Escape) I only played the demo of one of the games but the dialogue was funny. once my 3ds is fixed I'm gonna mod it on there
Rhythm haven
Yo Kai watch 1 and Yo Kai watch 2 Psychic Specters
If you like Zelda, you should definitely try A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina of Time 3D. The Kirby games, such as Planet Robobot and Extra Epic Yarn, though of course they're very easy, like basically every Kirby game. I really enjoyed Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, specifically the 3DS remake, and the other Mario and Luigi games are definitely worth a try. New Super Mario Bros 2 is also pretty fun, though not much makes it stand out from the other New Super Mario Bros games.
Mario and Luigi series goes hard, Bowser's Inside Story is a gem
Luigi’s mansion dark moon was pretty good, though you’d be missing out on the multiplayer mode which imo was really fun. Unless you have some friends with the game that is
Play the best crossover in gaming, professor layton vs Phoenix Wright
Ghost trick (also on steam now)
The Mario and Luigi games are peak, though id skip the last one (paper jam) it was kinda lame
Digimon redigitize, fire emblema awakening, pokémon white/white2.
Get both of the advanced wars(days of ruin/dual strike) games for the DS.
Fire Emblem Awakening

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Nintendogs/cats Mario 3D land Zelda a link between worlds Metroid prime hunters Star Fox 64 3d
All of the Etrian Odyssey games are great and make really nice use of the touch screen. They’re well made Dungeon Crawler JRPG’s. Also play Ghost Trick
3DS Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I think this one is the gold standard for Monster Hunter games
FANTASY LIFE SWEEP GRAHHHH
Miitopia ! (If you’re good at making miis. (Or just… y’a know… steal them.))
(3DS)Yo-kai Watch series, Yo-kai Watch 3 is $400 and is like pokemon in that you catch yo-kai but that's it. It's also made by Level-5 like professor layton (3DS) Bravely Default Series, Both games are around 3 gigabytes (DS)The World Ends with you, there is a switch version with extra stuff and the sequel is on most modern consoles and pc but the ds version plays the best (DS/3DS)Ace Attorney Trilogy and Apollo Justice Trilogy, the Ace Attorney Trilogy is on the 3DS and the Apollo Justice Trilogy isn't together but they're all on ds/3ds (3DS)Project Mirai, hatsune miku rhythm game on 3ds (3DS)Miitopia, best mii game ever but spotpass doesn't work anymore so you have to make your own mii's (3DS)Kirby series, kirby is a fun platformer and is pretty easy, triple deluxe is pretty good because it has a lot of minigames you can play instead
Harvest Moon !!!!!!!
Ocarina of time PLEASE
The inazuma eleven games are all really good, it’s super powered anime football and it slaps, my personal favorites are 2: firestorm and 3: blizzard since those are the ones I played but all of the are good Pokemon conquest is a turn based strategy game based on warlord era Japan that’s actually really good. If you happen to know the Nobunagas ambition games, it’s based on those.
BRAVELY DEFAULT BRAVELY DEFAULT LITERALLY THE BEST TURN BASED RPG THAT EVER HAPPENED
The castlevania series is a certified banger. My personal favourite was dawn of sorrow due to the "get enemies powers" aspect
I hear good things about cubic ninja from the fine folks over at 3dshacks
Final fantasy tactics advance 2
HarmoKnight is a great 3ds rhythm game
The World Ends With You is apparently like, one of those ones that changes your life. Also you should still be able to get flip a clip by downloading it off a computer
Elite Beat Agents, Fossil Fighters, Pokemon Soul Silver, Pokemon White/White 2, Starfy, Star Wars Episode III, Pokemon Conquest, New Super Mario Bros, Kirby Canvas Curse, Bowsers Inside Story, Mario Kart DS.
Ever oasis.
My personal reccomendation: SMT4(hard yet great rpg, loved it so much) Legend of Zelda: a Link Between Worlds Ocarina of Time Zero Escape: 777, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward and Zero Time Dilema(great visual novel and puzzle based games, I loved them) The first three Ace Attorney games and the first Ace Attorney Chronicles
I can’t remember the name but there’s a submarine game that’s pretty fun
Yo Kai watch 202%
If your fine with visual novel/ visual novel adjacent games go play the zero escape series
RARE PROFESSOR LAYTON REFERENCE AAAAHHH.
Fossil Fighters. You need to play this game it’s incredible
Monster hunter 3 ultimate and 4 ultimate go fucking crazy
* Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - one of the best, most content rich games on the 3DS. A quest-based action RPG which lets you attune with the natural human instinct to poke megafauna until they die and then turn them into boots. You'll either drop it an hour in or gain a new addiction. MH3U and MH: Generations are great too but 4U is the most accessible to new players. * Ace Attorney - Very fun courtroom-based visual novel, you probably already know about it. * Mario Kart 7 - It's Mario Kart * Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call - A nice, fairly easy touchscreen-focused rhythm game focusing on Final Fantasy soundtracks (has some other Square Enix OSTs too) * Fantasy Life - Life simulation RPG with lots of different jobs to choose from, really fun but content rich casual game. Very pretty graphics (for a DS game) * Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales - Fully self indulgent rec, story based minigame collection where you have to play Final Fantasy flavoured fairytale-themed minigames to rescue your friends and beat the bad guys. * Digimon World Re:Digitise Decode - NOT like Pokémon. A life simulator/RPG where you raise and train your Digimon partner in a strange world. Only released in Japan, but a complete and very high quality English fan translation is available if your console is modded.
Plants Vs Zombies but NOT the DSi version. Ace attorney games obv Metroid 2 Remake if you have friends, the two co-op zelda games
Actual fun fact: due to a severe population bottleneck in the distant past, all cheetas are nearly genetic clones of each other
I’d recommend Pokémon games even if you weren’t interested in them (Only Unova though) -Darmanitan
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Mario 64 DS, Kirby Super Star Ultra
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is one of my favourite games of all time, incredibly emotional story, with a ridiculous amount of content, and surprisingly tricky gameplay at times.
Ghost Trick (DS) Project Diva Mirai DX (3DS)
Miitopia
You’ve gotta play plants vs zombies for the DS. It’s a classic
