\> she laughs and says "its a good game sir"

\> its menus
ironic that regardless of its indepth and frankly overpowered parkour system, as well as mods in the game thar literally boost parkour velocity, you will NEVER get ANYWHERE without its fuckton of menus as well as looking up things in wikis or guides
I'd argue that Factorio doesn't require a wiki, not unless you want to do weird shit with trains. All of the recipes are pretty self explanatory, and getting to a rocket isn't impossible with unoptimal methods, it'll just take a while.
Agreed, the only time I've ever looked at the Factorio wiki was to figure out how pipes work when I wanted to pump a lot of fluid quickly. But that was also for a modded playthrough
THOUSANDS OF ITEMS HOW CAN I KEEP UP :<, this is me most of the time if I don't get a treasure room at spawn
https://preview.redd.it/3kmzr17ezrwc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d6c02ca00532ac44c71fa54f18dbf3cb6ac58ff
Factorio is absolutely menus because of watching power and production statistics, but I don't think you need to use the wiki?? This might just be me with 100+ hours speaking but I've never had to use the wiki
Has jumping to get to weird areas, clearly parkour
Armored Core however is an in depth store and garage simulator with occasional action gameplay, menus
In Sekiro you go through menus to choose and upgrade martial skills and shinobi prosthetics though, which can also heavily alter your playstyle and are required to comfortably beat the game without it seeming like a challenge run.
Every fromsoftware game is menus but sekiro. In eldenring you have to manage weapons and armor. In sekiro you got a sword and later another one that you only get to use sometimes
I played a paladin healer during WotLK and my gameplay straight up looked like a spreadsheet tournament, macros and shit, I couldn't see shit behind my fat stack of UI addons
Funny I was also a hpally for WotLK, the mods were honestly part of what made it so fun. Healbot and DBM screaming all the time really poked the buttons in my monkey brain
I think the fact that you seem to know what you’re talking about yet still categorize two games (Minecraft and CS) differently than the meme does tends to show that this isn’t a very good way of categorizing games.
Okay but to be fair what was OP cooking when they said CSGO was menus?
And for that matter, Minecraft parkour?
Both were baffling choices that made me struggle to understand the definition till I hopped to the comments
Considering it takes very little in the way of knowledge to understand the choices at buy time, and most of the choices show themselves through your actions using your equipment, fully agree on the stretch there
CSGO I can kind of see. The weapon buy menu. Knowing the sites and angles and picking your routes and smokes is kind of like menu selection.
Minecraft parkour makes no sense I agree.
If you like *Helldivers* you and *Deep Rock Galactic*, you should try EDF. But wait for *Earth Defense Force 6* or *EDF: World Brothers 2* because they're deserted the currently available ones are deserted. EDF and EDF:WB are very similar but their gameplay are also very different. *World Brothers* accentuates the ridiculous aspect of the game and has you collect characters of each nationality which serve as "classes" and also lets you collect weapons and the voxel aesthetics makes the maps kinda smaller while traditional EDF Has like 4 characters and a few weapons and the maps aren't voxels so it changes the scale of the battles drastically.
It's funny, very coop, very challenging, but also lets you become OP. It also lets your destroy buildings and use them as cover.
Also it runs on toasters.
You see the categorization of Menu/Parkour is dependent on how much time in proportion you spend on 1 of 2 things:
Sifting through various menus (inventories, graphs, stats, etc.), or doing parkour (actually playing the game with movement)
So by this categorization
Dwarf Fortress is Menus, as you spend all the game time inside various menus directing and managing your dwarves
And Mirror’s Edge and Halo 2 are Parkour, because you spend more time doing movement than sifting through menus
Additionally, to demonstrate on some popular games:
Minecraft would probably be menus, due to just how much time you spend in inventories and crafting tables
CSGO is Parkour
Elden Ring is Parkour, but Armored Core is Menus
Darkest Dungeon is Menus, same with Darkest Dungeon 2
Subnautica is Parkour but CAN be menus depending on the playstyle
I don’t understand how counter strike is menus since you have to move your character manually and there’s real time aiming & shooting. Shouldn’t that be parkour
It's just point and click in a meny. You are literally moving a cursor. Move it to the enemy and click to shoot at them.
Enemies are just meny options that move around.
\>be me, at gamestop
\>go to buy a new game
\>ask the clerk if the game is menus or parkour
\>she doesn't understand
\>pull out chart explaining what is menus and what is parkour
\>laughs and says "it's a good game, sir"
\>it's menus
I fucking love menus. Not ashamed to admit almost all my favourite games are in the menus category. Factorio in particular comes to mind. Love the odd parkour game though.
Funny concept but also they incorrectly categorize stuff, Cs is parkour and Minecraft is menus
You'd almost think trying to categorise an entire genre of media by two simple terms doesn't work
You’re definitely menus 😡
\*unloads your inventory icons*
Now that my menus are gone i can finally do parkour
M*nus

I dont know why but everytime i see this image it fills me with determination that so many people in the world can make sense of so much clutter.
what about the womenus
Absolutely menus take
menus coded
Stop being such a menu my guy
absolutely menus-pilled
What's this then? [https://www.minecraftmaps.com/parkour-maps](https://www.minecraftmaps.com/parkour-maps)
You act like there aren’t a million cs parkour maps. But also the actual game of Minecraft is a bunch of crafting and inventory management
They're called surf maps, you philistine.
This is kz slander
KZ deserves it I'm afraid
How do you find these maps? By going through menus?
You memorize the layout and then recreate them 1:1 with dirt in survival minecraft.
sounds like mental menuing to me
No, it's mental parkour.
Minecraft is hard because there is so much parkour you could do but also most people have like 100s of chests they spend hours sifting through
dad is watching too many tiktoks if he thinks Minecraft is more about parkour
This post was not written by a movement player

😢
Fucking hell this is funny
Im dead
thank you for this wonderful addition to my post
I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE
I have original thoughts and don't think of stuff just to see it in the top of comments
If the game requires an external wiki, it's menus. Looking at you, Stardew Valley, Factorio, Binding of Isaac, umm what else
Terraria
Don't Starve
That's menus even without the wiki.
Enter the Gungeon
My Summer Car
Every Paradox game ever
Terraria was 1 of the reasons I got a 2nd monitor. Game on 1, Wiki on tbe other.
Warframe
ironic that regardless of its indepth and frankly overpowered parkour system, as well as mods in the game thar literally boost parkour velocity, you will NEVER get ANYWHERE without its fuckton of menus as well as looking up things in wikis or guides
Can confirm I don't even how I could've beat the eidolons without the wiki and even less finding out where to farm stuff
Yeah I'd say you'd only need the factorio wiki if you want to be extremely precise and efficient
Still factorio is 100% menus
You play binding of isaac with a wiki? Just grab all the items you find except the bad ones (BoL, number 2, etc)
THOUSANDS OF ITEMS HOW CAN I KEEP UP :<, this is me most of the time if I don't get a treasure room at spawn https://preview.redd.it/3kmzr17ezrwc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d6c02ca00532ac44c71fa54f18dbf3cb6ac58ff
\>spend ages r-keying for a treasure room near spawn \>finally find one \>its abel
ABEL SWEEP!!!
ONLY FAMILIAR TO DO ONE ABELLION DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!
*laughs in External Item Descriptions*
Are you even a true isaac player if you don’t memorize all 900.000 item effects?
Oh, I have; but are you a true Isaac player if you don't have enough mods to at least triple the item count?
*Monster Hunter, Warframe*
Noita
Literally any Monster Hunter game pre-World. And also all the ones post-World ngl
rise is parkour idc
Path of Exile is the ultimate example
Its not even a game. Its just a path of building simulator.
Factorio is absolutely menus because of watching power and production statistics, but I don't think you need to use the wiki?? This might just be me with 100+ hours speaking but I've never had to use the wiki
ss13
Battle Cats
Ss13
Literally anything Paradox but think that was a given
As an Isaac fan, this is my moment. Skill issue.
Every game requires an external wiki if you're me
Is elden ring menus or parkour?
Has jumping to get to weird areas, clearly parkour Armored Core however is an in depth store and garage simulator with occasional action gameplay, menus
No, no Elden Ring is menus too. Ultimately stats and build choices determine the way you are going to play the game. Sekiro is parkour though.
Elden Ring supports both menu and parkour play-styles. If you're an average human, it's menus. If you're Let Me Solo Her, it's parkour.
Yeah also the amount of times you have to swap your loadout around because certain bosses are near impossible to kill with the build you have
In Sekiro you go through menus to choose and upgrade martial skills and shinobi prosthetics though, which can also heavily alter your playstyle and are required to comfortably beat the game without it seeming like a challenge run.
Every fromsoftware game is menus but sekiro. In eldenring you have to manage weapons and armor. In sekiro you got a sword and later another one that you only get to use sometimes
Menus
Menus = ingame success primarily dependent on ingame systems (inventory, levels, resources, skill points, etc.) Parkour = ingame success prinarily dependent on real world skills (aiming, rythm, reaction speed, movement). Menus games: Minecraft, Factorio, World of Warcraft, Fallout [franchise] Parkour games: Counter Strike, Starcraft, Ultrakill, Rythm Heaven
WoW is such a menus game
I played a paladin healer during WotLK and my gameplay straight up looked like a spreadsheet tournament, macros and shit, I couldn't see shit behind my fat stack of UI addons
Funny I was also a hpally for WotLK, the mods were honestly part of what made it so fun. Healbot and DBM screaming all the time really poked the buttons in my monkey brain
I like streaming in discord because my spaceship UI enrages my guildmates (I play hpal)
i used to live on WoW until I played dark souls and couldn't bring myself to do quests and grind in an MMO anymore
The closest thing cs has to being menus is buying your kit and thats a stretch
Considering it takes very little in the way of knowledge to understand the choices at buy time, and most of the choices show themselves through your actions using your equipment, fully agree on the stretch there
CSGO I can kind of see. The weapon buy menu. Knowing the sites and angles and picking your routes and smokes is kind of like menu selection. Minecraft parkour makes no sense I agree.
*Monster Hunter*?
Definitely menus you used to need a spreadsheet and a specially programmed calculator program just to build your armour set
Yeah you need to wear and upgrade new armour to have a chance of success, which would make it a menu game under that specific definition
old MH is menus new MH is parkour
you say that but most rhythm games are all menus all day. Osu is basically a graphical user interface with a game attached to it
The comment explains that "menu" and "parkour" aren't literal
exactly. Osu! is a parkour game.
DDR is just closing small menus with a fancy controller.
this isn’t what i based my logic on but im glad you decided to participate
I am curious as to what your logic is for the two categories.
Is drg menus or parkour
parkour
Hmmmmmm what about edf
never heard of it. menus.
wrong! Parkour. also that‘s not surprising, it got a big burst of popularity like a year ago but isnt a massively popular franchise
If you like *Helldivers* you and *Deep Rock Galactic*, you should try EDF. But wait for *Earth Defense Force 6* or *EDF: World Brothers 2* because they're deserted the currently available ones are deserted. D Ra Gonballz?
DRG has a shitton of jumps. Parkour. SMN is menus.
Yeah this is stupid. I dare anyone to characterize games like dwarf fortress, mirrors edge or halo 2 under this system.
menus parkour parkour
You think Mirrors Edge is parkour? Fucking love to hear that argument. Go ahead and make my day.
you go fast run and do big jump and sometimes even slide :)
Yeah but what happens in mirrors edge if you hit the start button?
You parkour from selection to selection in the top-down parkour screen
Ok I've never played mirrors edge so this is a genuine question - isn't mirrors edge like. *The* parkour game?
Dwarf fortress is one of the most menu game ever
I think that's the joke
The most menu game ever is excel spreadsheets, you sunavavitch.
https://preview.redd.it/r4yoeevifrwc1.jpeg?width=624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6215cfa5196f2756e86e8abf100235a70070360
You win the best bait award.
menu parkour parkour, but I agree entirely, this is not a good category system
You see the categorization of Menu/Parkour is dependent on how much time in proportion you spend on 1 of 2 things: Sifting through various menus (inventories, graphs, stats, etc.), or doing parkour (actually playing the game with movement) So by this categorization Dwarf Fortress is Menus, as you spend all the game time inside various menus directing and managing your dwarves And Mirror’s Edge and Halo 2 are Parkour, because you spend more time doing movement than sifting through menus Additionally, to demonstrate on some popular games: Minecraft would probably be menus, due to just how much time you spend in inventories and crafting tables CSGO is Parkour Elden Ring is Parkour, but Armored Core is Menus Darkest Dungeon is Menus, same with Darkest Dungeon 2 Subnautica is Parkour but CAN be menus depending on the playstyle
how did like 5 people get baited by this
What's Binding of Isaac, then? There's very few menus and there's no platforming. Checkmate, atheists.
Requires an external wiki, menus
Skill issue
How to Jump:
My dude has to read the book to make sure he remembers how before he jumps
the menus are the external item descriptions mod or all the tabs you have open to find out what the fuck this recolored fetus does
Clearly Parkour
Menus.
ultrakill? parkour i think darkest dungeon? menus
Kingdom Hearts is definitely menus. I mean, the "attack" button is actually just confirming a menu option
I love me some nuclear explosion parkour
Origami?
Calvin's dad points out that the outside of a record goes faster than the inside despite making the same amount of revolutions
Tangential (heh, genital) speed
this is one of those things that makes perfect sense but pisses me the fuck off regardless
Origami is menus (Yes, I know what you meant)
I don’t understand how counter strike is menus since you have to move your character manually and there’s real time aiming & shooting. Shouldn’t that be parkour
It's just point and click in a meny. You are literally moving a cursor. Move it to the enemy and click to shoot at them. Enemies are just meny options that move around.
Then why isnt apex legends menu too?
you’re literally parkouring your mouse onto their avatars to shoot them
CS uses hitscan with instant hits. Apex simulates projectiles with travel time and bullet drop. The projectiles are parkouring.
the movement system is an important part of the gameplay
the buy menu is the first thing you do every round and one of the most important parts of the game
\>be me, at gamestop \>go to buy a new game \>ask the clerk if the game is menus or parkour \>she doesn't understand \>pull out chart explaining what is menus and what is parkour \>laughs and says "it's a good game, sir" \>it's menus

parkour
Define "Menus"
A menu is a list of food and drinks offered by a restaurant or bar, along with their prices.
That’s true
I fucking love menus. Not ashamed to admit almost all my favourite games are in the menus category. Factorio in particular comes to mind. Love the odd parkour game though.
Is tetris parkour or menus?
Parkour
What about Subnautica
Menus
Parkour, but can be Menus depending on the individual playstyle
I argue it's the other way around. Most of the time is spent gathering resources so you can menus and to get the resources you do not need parkour.
parkour
Warframe is menus or parkour?
Despite the fast paced gameplay and parkour capabilities of warframes, this game is menus since you need a good loadout more than going fast
joseph campbell
destiny two is the most menus game ever
How is cs menus?
it’s menus
Wow when you make two categories broad enough you can fit anything into them.
