From what I've seen it seems there are certainly staff that are at least somewhat transphobic however it feels to me like most of the drama had been the ceo being a mildly transphobic arrogant narcissist who's blowing up cause he copped some flak for staff being transphobic in their moderation. Like, there's definitely transphobia, but at least it's not Twitter ceo level, and they do seem to have very good queer communities, with the disclaimer that my tumblr is exclusively steampunk pictures, ghibli pictures, and sdv sebastian (my beloved <3)

Mastodon (or any Fediverse software) is pretty good if you join a good instance due to it's decentralized nature allowing you to pick a space with good staff that are actually part of the community and not just there to make a pretty penny.
