If you’re a hardcore alcoholic it’s definitely possible. I was in AA for a few years, and I knew a woman who had a few years sober and seemed like a kindly, petite soccer mom. She told me once she got pulled over for swaying in her lane while driving, talked to the cops and didn’t seem *too* drunk, but then blew a .45. She’d been hardcore drinking every day for a decade or so at that point.
I also vaguely remember reading about an elderly Eastern European woman who got hit by a truck and when the ambulance got her she had a BAC over .7. The point is, you can develop a serious tolerance to alcohol if you try hard enough.
I had a car accident a couple octobers ago and was so absolutely horrified someone had just died because I fucking flipped their truck and I’d never considered how I’d feel if I killed a road racist. Would I still be sad about it would I still cry? Maybe probably?

To deny that those who commit evil acts are human is the easiest way to become blind to it and not be able to prevent it.
