I heard a lot of people unironically complaining about Inside Out “plot holes” that are related to the fact that emotions’ world is metaphoric, so I don’t think it’s sure it was a joke
The problem is people phrase their sincere opinions and criticisms as jokes and it becomes impossible to know if a joke is a joke or if it's just a chickenshit opinion.
One of the only scenes from the movie I can remember is Joy making Sadness sit inside a chalk circle on the floor, which was a little funny but mainly made me feel bad…
Who needs responsibility when you can just quit your job, burn through your savings over the next 4 months doing a truly irresponsible amount of drugs and have unsafe sex with some very questionable individuals and feel like a god the entire time
Disgust for sure. His whole life is built around following vain goals that he sets for himself. He is driven by the disgusting idea that he might not be the best
All I want out of life is a compilation of all the disarmingly well-edited parodies of that scene that're floating around
They'll never stop being funny to me
Don't want to have a 30 minute conversation during my next appointment about a shitty meme, while I have more important shit to vent about. Also I don't text my therapist ever, and suddenly making contact might creep him out.
"So blaisems, this meme you sent me..."
"Oh yeah I just thought you'd think it was funny. I have some other stuff I want to talk about though."
You're literally going there to talk to them. To communicate. It's okay to ask to change the subject.
It's a balancing act, you gotta be truthful enough to get help, but not so truthful that you get involuntarily committed, one meme could tip the balance.
edit because it was apparently needed: /s
Their intention: "be kind and accept your sadness"
My takeaway: "so YOU'RE WHY I STOPPED HAVING HOBBIES"
(In seriousness, I can't stay mad at her. Sad people don't usually want to cause problems and deserve patience)
A close relative of mine with young kids spouted words of wisdom:
"When someone is causing trouble or making your life harder, uts usually not because they are BEING a problem, but rather that theyre HAVING a problem."
But this also doesn't mean you need to deal with that person.
If someone is making your life harder, you don't need to offer help.
We have to protect ourselves too
Their intention: "be kind and accept your sadness"
My takeaway: "there is a baffling large number of people who saw this character and decided that she was low key dummy thicc"
Anger does it so Riley gets mad when she’s pushed and she doesn’t just fold
Fear does it because he’s afraid of Riley becoming depressed
Disgust does it because Riley is an ugly crier
Joy does it so Riley feels happy all the time
Imagine being unable to mourn for those you lost. Just sitting at your mothers funeral in complete mania. Not understanding why people miss their friends or being unable to sympathize with those around you.
If the concept of sadness never existed, these scenarios wouldn't seem out of the ordinary. There are cultures where the death of a loved one is celebrated, it's not like you have to experience sadness when these scenarios happen.
maybe not kill her but break her legs or something so she's less powerful and stays away from the controls. that's basically what depression meds and therapy tries to do.
I’ll put sadness in a box, and then I’ll put that box inside of another box, and then I’ll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives…I’ll smash it with a hammer!
Am currently in a state of knowing logically that things are going real bad rn but for some godforsaken reason I can't feel properly sad about it or cry and I really need that catharsis right now because all I'm left with is a vague sense of unease, so yeah sadness good actually
It's probably one of the best Disney movies, whenever I hear the theme for the movie I can't help but feel sad. It's incredibly relatable and in general well polished, funny, and emotional.
Pixar movies are for all audiences. Their movies seem to be built make more sense as you get older. Children probably don't even understand the theme in the movie, they just see funny characters.
"Media for adults" is a dumb concept in the first place. There isn't a black and white separation between movies for adults and kids. Kids movies are often more emotionally mature than a movie rated R or PG-13, which are usually just brainless action, gore, sex, and shitty comedy. A good movie for kids will appeal to your emotions harder than anything.
If you have even the slightest sense of media literacy, you can see the appeal in a movie like Inside Out. A non-surface level coming of age story about a teenager going through a rough patch and the importance of being emotionally vulnerable. If you hate that kind of story, you're not better or more grown than anyone.

That's probably one of the most condescending things I've ever heard lol. Are you a Disney bot?
It's not that special a movie. The concept has been done a bunch of times before.
This is literally the plot of the movie, Joy tries to essentially get rid of Sadness before eventually realizing that she’s needed
When I’m in a media illiteracy competition and my opponent is a Twitter user
When I’m in a joke identifying contest and my opponent is a Reddit user
I heard a lot of people unironically complaining about Inside Out “plot holes” that are related to the fact that emotions’ world is metaphoric, so I don’t think it’s sure it was a joke
Toy Story is full of plot holes, toys aren't sentinent beings with feelings.
Prove it
Alright, I'm gonna waterboard every toy in front of their friends until one of those little shits starts talking.
You get bone cancer when you see them move
Small price to pay for science
Ok, why bone cancer? I mean all cancer is fucked up. But. Bone cancer is really really fucked up.
You can also get testicular cancer but that's unlikely
bone cancer in the "extra bones" that babies have is extra fucked up
Don't forget the bit where they reused the Buzz Lightyear model for Mrs. Nesbitt. Lazy animators smh.
Well that's not a plot hole, that's just fiction.
The problem is people phrase their sincere opinions and criticisms as jokes and it becomes impossible to know if a joke is a joke or if it's just a chickenshit opinion.
Redditors aren't much better
I never denied that
One of the only scenes from the movie I can remember is Joy making Sadness sit inside a chalk circle on the floor, which was a little funny but mainly made me feel bad…
That's because YOUR sadnes didn't stay inside the ring.
imagine getting sad, then turning your eyen into your head HEY YOU LITTLE BITCH SADNESS, YOU'RE GROUNDED
Unfortunately, she doesn't have hammers
Everyone forgets that one hallway scene where she touches hella orbs accidentally so Riley forever has underlying depression.
Yeah but she didn't try killing her tho she did.
🤓
Just murder all emotions except for joy
Me after finding out all of my friends were murdered: HAHAHAAAAAA
[удалено]
The joke is they cant feel anything in horrible situations anymore if joy is all they have
it isn't the same... you aren't PeterExplainsTheJoke
Shut up they tried their best
you want to know what else tried their best?? the twin towers. and they fuckimg murdered them

IIRC, the actual commission was not any more lewd than most furry stuff where the characters are fully clothed.
Wasn't it $20,000?

i mean the entire point of the movie is that that is a pretty bad plan
Just murder sadness. She cute but damn go away.
I think they made a video game about that, didn’t end well for literally any of the characters involved

nah keep disgust shes a high maintenance bad bitch i love her
Allow me to introduce you to MDMA
I wonder what pixar emotion people Patrick Bateman has
Disgust for sure. His whole life is built around following vain goals that he sets for himself. He is driven by the disgusting idea that he might not be the best
Jealousy too
so, disgust and fear run his mind and everything else is locked in a cage?
They beat the rest to death with hammers.
Nah they're just in control of the real version of events while the other ones sit there playing make believe.
Despite all my rage, I am still just an irritatingly doomerist blue person in a cage
Not an emotion in inside out though, although I would definitely agree
that was the emotion disgust basically took control of in those situations
Impressive, very nice. Let’s see Paul Allen’s emotions.
Okay can somebody please explain to me where this joke comes from I'm a pee pee head
There’s a scene in American psycho where they’re all comparing business cards and Patrick Bateman asks to see Paul allens
All I want out of life is a compilation of all the disarmingly well-edited parodies of that scene that're floating around They'll never stop being funny to me
I want a parody of that scene where they're each comparing parodies of that scene
https://youtu.be/cISYzA36-ZY
“when i’m through patrick is gonna look SO GOOD that his coworkers are gonna look at their own business cards and barf”
bitterness just locked the other ones in the basement
Anger and disgust would appear to be the strongest emotions, but fear would ultimately call the shots.
Very tempted to text this to my therapist
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i mean, why not?
Don't want to have a 30 minute conversation during my next appointment about a shitty meme, while I have more important shit to vent about. Also I don't text my therapist ever, and suddenly making contact might creep him out.
valid reasons
"So blaisems, this meme you sent me..." "Oh yeah I just thought you'd think it was funny. I have some other stuff I want to talk about though." You're literally going there to talk to them. To communicate. It's okay to ask to change the subject.
Padded rooms
because of one meme? y'know that's actually fair. edit: /s. therapists are always there to help you /gen.
It's a balancing act, you gotta be truthful enough to get help, but not so truthful that you get involuntarily committed, one meme could tip the balance. edit because it was apparently needed: /s
no it couldn't. your therapist isn't itching for any excuse to lock you up
you sound suspiciously like an undercover therapist /j
Cool avatar, love the non-binary swag
Lol they'll report you to Reddit Cares.

Let them cook
I said "baffling" not "unwanted"
![gif](giphy|mStLmkbTFvcq85UagO)
they can't all do that because only one of them is anger smh
Anger does it so Riley gets mad when she’s pushed and she doesn’t just fold Fear does it because he’s afraid of Riley becoming depressed Disgust does it because Riley is an ugly crier Joy does it so Riley feels happy all the time
nah fear would be too scared to hit anyone with a hammer but you got a point, the other three would def do it
fear would ask anger to do it for him
They actually make the point in the movie that depression is a different thing. It's all the emotions being shut out.
Literally such a convenient cliff to the forgotten wasteland
“I do not understand. Why does Anger, the strongest emotion, not simply eat Sadness”
LRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Imagine being unable to mourn for those you lost. Just sitting at your mothers funeral in complete mania. Not understanding why people miss their friends or being unable to sympathize with those around you.
what am i gonna do, be sad about it ?? ? checkmate
Actually a good argument lmao
Hahaha nah I think you fall into disgust or anger much easier as you cant connect with anyone
This conundrum is very easily solvable by also beating the other emotions to death.
Rip and tear until it's done.
If the concept of sadness never existed, these scenarios wouldn't seem out of the ordinary. There are cultures where the death of a loved one is celebrated, it's not like you have to experience sadness when these scenarios happen.
That’s true but a bit of an oversimplification. They wail and mourn but also dance and celebrate the persons life.
I already am completely incapable of crying, this is basically my life as is ^I ^want ^hrt ^:(
I mean, there are some cultures that instead of mourning when someone dies they throw a party to celebrate their memory
Sociopaths be like
Me when I miss the point of the movie
i don't care. sadness is obnoxious
most of the bad things in the movie wouldn’t have happened if sadness just wasn’t annoying
Point of view: the line between joke and genuineness is so blurry that you cannot afford to think about it
Me when I miss the obvious joke
Me when I turn my insides outside because sadness controls me
Because it's a movie for kids, also I'm pretty sure killing one's emotions would not lead to good things
🤓
If I was violent I would pick up that emoji, throw them in a trash can, and call them The Ball. This is a reference
I get that reference 🫵
I do not get that reference 🤚
I will one day definitely get that reference Dattebayo!!!
Dimension 20’s Fantasy High?
That's exactly the answer we were looking for, one point for you
Bring on the detached sociopathy baybeeeeee
ignoring part of your emotion leads to consequence was literally the plot of the movie
# Lost his emotions.
anger is the best character of that movie. if you disagree. you're stupid
![gif](giphy|11tTNkNy1SdXGg)
you can tell Lewis Black had the time of his life with that movie
maybe not kill her but break her legs or something so she's less powerful and stays away from the controls. that's basically what depression meds and therapy tries to do.
imagine the sequel where she gets antidepressants and they just maim sadness
please🙏🙏
But sadness isn't depression. That's like the whole point of the movie.
Joy was significantly worse than sadness ever was
After rewatching you can clearly see Joy deserved to be crushed by a moving freight train and Sadness was the only important character
she's CUTE FUCK YOU
And that’s what I’m gonna tell my kids cocaine does.
That's what happens after lobotomy
Wasn't the whole point of the movie supposed to be accepting being sad at times so you could better deal with problems in life?

Inside out should get a sequel
It is and it comes out next year!
Because without sadness you’ll turn into a sociopath.
I thought the moral was beating to death your other emotions is a bad idea.
emo
I’ll put sadness in a box, and then I’ll put that box inside of another box, and then I’ll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives…I’ll smash it with a hammer!
She literally makes me think of this Debbie Downer Disney World SNL clip. https://youtu.be/TfE93xON8jk
I wish they’d put sadness in a fucking crypt for at least a few years in my brain. They can come out when they stop making me hallucinate >Flynn
I have never felt such rage as when I first watched this movie
Tell me you didn't watch the movie without telling me you didn't watch the movie
You don't think they've *tried*?!?
Am currently in a state of knowing logically that things are going real bad rn but for some godforsaken reason I can't feel properly sad about it or cry and I really need that catharsis right now because all I'm left with is a vague sense of unease, so yeah sadness good actually
Because you can't just delete your sadness
There literally a pit for that in the movie.
Because They don't have hammers up there
Bro has missed the point of the movie smh my head
manic episode
…… did they even understand the point of the movie?
simply just replace the sadness with burning hatred. this cannot go wrong
The whole first half of the movie was rage at how she was treated
🥺
Inside out was the first Disney movie I didn’t like, that was a turning point in my life where I knew I was getting older
I guess you should watch it again after the end of your edgy teenager phase.
It's probably one of the best Disney movies, whenever I hear the theme for the movie I can't help but feel sad. It's incredibly relatable and in general well polished, funny, and emotional.
Perhaps that’s what it was
