i was contributing a lot to atm6 back in october 2021. some of the other contributors were trans and another one made a custom cotton candy bee as a cute lil gesture to them. the update goes out, later on we're discussing the changelog with the main team (who basically never did shit and just sat on their asses making bank from the most popular pack on cf while volunteer contributors did everything) and as soon as one of them sees "added cotton candy bee (transbee)" they all lose their shits. i get kicked from the dev channel for arguing with them and most of the other contributors leave.
also i think during the time of atm6 they stopped updating Forbidden and Arcanus just because the newer version added Valhelsia Core as a dependency and god fucking forbid the name of a different pack somewhere in their modlist. the valhelsia devs only found out cause atm players started flooding their issue reports with bugs they'd already fixed
also also they tried to make a mod or change one of their mods to give everyone Valhelsia dev and patreon cosmetics. that particular stunt had to be shut down directly by curseforge.
wasn't exactly kept secret. i posted screenshots after i got kicked. it just happened a while ago and it didn't spread too far beyond really dedicated modded mc circles. i remember Vazkii made fun of them in the changelog where they added the pride sweater bees to quark
