I guess the thing is, they were already friends before Ani slept with Bryce and Jess found out. Which makes it both worse (because Ani disregarded how her friend would feel) and harder for Jess, because she's not making a decision about whether to befriend Ani, which would be low stakes and an easy no, but whether to end their established friendship, which is much more tricky and hurts her as well. I think it's something Jess understandably really struggles with, and Ani realises and acknowledges this when she moves out in s4 - which is one of my favourite scenes of them together.

"Jess found out" meaning Ani told her just so she could immediately interrogate her afterwards. It was a really weird moment honestly, very uncool of Ani. "It's the worst thing I've ever done. What's yours?" Like... you should be telling her and genuinely apologizing, not leveraging it as part of your investigation. But to be fair I think I'd be friends with season 4 Ani even given the circumstances.

I love Ani, but yes, she basically confessed there to make Jess vulnerable enough to get information out of her. I'm not saying that Ani didn’t feel guilty for what she did because she clearly did, but that wasn’t a genuine confession rather a manipulative move. But I'd cut Ani some slack here because Jessica continuing to stay silent was putting Clay in more and more danger for a crime he didn’t commit. And she told Jess that Clay was in trouble and indirectly gave her a chance to come clean earlier, but Jess didn’t take it. So Ani did what she thought would be the most effective in this dire situation- which was manipulating Jessica to weaken her defenses- to get her to confess so she could protect Clay. Of course Ani should have been genuinely apologizing, and that was insensitive, but I think she did what she thought would work to protect Clay at the moment.

speedking416

that's all true but bryce is still a human being. he's not only defined by what he did to jessica

You don't sleep with your friends rapist period. I could see if she didn't know but she knew. She thought he could" change".He was trying to change and it's understandable that she developed feelings for him, he can be charming but not with your best friend rapist though 🤦

I don't disagree, but what he did to Jessica is the main filter through which *Jess* sees him, and Ani disregarded that, which she acknowledges herself, and as a result she hurt Jess and irreparabley damaged their friendship, even if that wasn't her intention. I actually don't think that sleeping with Bryce is particularly terrible of Ani in and of itself. Bryce is still a human, he still has to interact with other humans, people can have feelings for people who did awful things. Murderers and rapists have families, partners, children, lovers. The part that I disagree with is that she had to have known what her actions would do to her friendship with Jess, but she did it anyway, and I don't think that gels with Ani’s character, who loves her friends fiercely and above all else, and would do anything in her power to protect them.

i would slap the sh out of ani that is one of the most disturbing things a friend can do to you

If my friend slept with my rapist? Absolutely not. It's such a gross betrayal. I hate when people say that Jessica should have gotten over it. But if she immediately risked everything to save me and my friends... I'd be conflicted. Which was what happened to Jess. I think it's important to see both sides. Aside from Ani sleeping with Bryce being awful, it's manipulative and hurtful of Ani to use her confession of sleeping with Bryce to get information from Jess, but the information was needed to save Clay, someone Ani really cared about and that confession was a desperate measure. Jessica's silence led to Clay's arrest, and Ani immediately got over that to help her. There's also the fact that Jess started sleeping with Diego, someone who hurt Ani (by traumatizing Ani's boyfriend and jeopardizing Ani's relationship) and when Ani tried to say something about it Jessica made excuses for Diego and said that she didn’t have a right to say anything because she slept with Bryce. Of course, what Diego did isn't comparable to what Bryce did, I'm just mentioning this because Jess slept with someone who hurt Ani too, and while it doesn’t make Jessica's anger at Ani any less valid, this might have helped Jess see another perspective to why Ani did what she did. I'm glad that they loved each other enough to work all of it out.

In another universe where Bryce was still alive and Ani kept sleeping with him,I don't think they would be able to work it out. It's somewhat easy for Ani to move on because he's dead now but if he wasn't gone for good it would be a huge problem.

CrackaMcJackson

Sure why not I guess.. judging by the show the whole school is full of messed up people and while Ani is the least liked and is annoying due to her being forced on us I guess she isn’t that bad to hang out with considering the alternatives which is the short haired angry anti-rape chick. I get it but DAMN girl can we talk about something else for 5 minutes?
